6-year-old girl’s relatives protest amputation at Pims in Islamabad, allege malpractice |
2019-07-10 |
![]() The hospital’s management has established an inquiry committee to investigate the case. The child’s father, Mohsin Ali, said his daughter was brought to the Pims emergency on June 23 at around 9pm after she fell. "At the time, Dr Mubashir, Dr Awais and another doctor told me [she had suffered] a major fracture for which a rod would be placed in her hand. However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... they applied plaster on the hand and discharged her at around 2am with instructions to visit the outpatient department in the morning. "We reached [the outpatient department] at 8am, and Dr Mubashir told us that there was no need for the rod and they would once again apply the plaster as the alignment of one bone was not right," he said. After three hours, he said, they were told that the bone had been aligned and the patient should be brought back in two weeks. However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... Mr Ali said they noticed at night that his daughter’s hand was turning green and brought her back to the hospital. Initially, he said, the plaster was removed and Dr Mubashir checked the patient. The family was told the next morning that her arm would have to be amputated, which it later was. Mr Ali has asked the management to take action against the doctors, who he has said are responsible. Pims Executive Director Dr Raja Amjad told Dawn the patient had fallen off her roof and broke both bones in her arm. "After applying the plaster at night, in the morning it was observed that one bone was aligned but the other was not, due to which a small procedure was done to align the bone and after applying plaster once again the girl was discharged with directions that the patient should be brought back if swelling is observed or the colour of her arm starts changing," he said. "Although the colour of her hand began to change the family kept the girl in Murree for more than 27 hours, due to which when she was brought to the hospital there was no choice but to remove the hand. Despite that, doctors tried to restore the blood supply but failed," he said. "Although I have established a committee to inquire into the issue, it was unfortunate that the girl’s relatives not only protested but also held doctors and patients hostage in the hospital," he added. Dr Amjad said such situations put him in a difficult position, as doctors will begin to strike when patients’ relatives misbehave with them or physically attack them. "The doctor who treated the girl has also worked in the United Kingdom and is well trained, so I cannot imagine that he could make a blunder. Despite that, I have established an inquiry committee and will take action after getting the inquiry report," he said. |

Two suspects confess in Imran Farooq murder case |
2016-01-09 |
![]() ...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. From 1992 to 1999, the MQM was the target of the Pak Army's Operation Cleanup leaving thousands of urdu speaking civilians dead... 's self-exiled leader Dr Imran Farooq recorded their confessional statements before the Islamabad deputy commissioner on Thursday, sources said. The FIA had enjugged Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! three suspects -- Khalid Shamim, Mohsin Ali Syed and Moazzam Ali -- for their alleged role in Dr Farooq's murder. While Shamim and Mohsin Ali confessed to their involvement, Moazzam Ali, said to be the prime suspect, was unwilling to come up with a confession, sources in the prosecution told Dawn. In his statement recorded under Section 164 of the criminal procedure code, Mohsin said that Moazzam had handled the travel documents to live in the United Kingdom. According to private news channel Geo News, Mohsin in his statement gave graphic details of the murder. He said that at a university hostel in London he and his accomplice Kashif Khan Kamran, whose whereabouts are not known and may have died, prepared a plot to kill Dr Farooq. He said they monitored the movement of Dr Farooq in London to know about his routine. On the day of the murder, he said, he grabbed Dr Farooq while Kashif stabbed him and then bludgeoned him with a brick to ensure his death. Shamim said that he had consented to join the murder plot because he was a diehard MQM activist, sources said. Shamim claimed that senior MQM leader Muhammad Anwar gave the order to assassinate Dr Farooq. The JIT constituted to investigate the murder had suggested that MQM chief the increasingly enormousAltaf Hussain ..The head of MQM in Pakistain, who has lived in London and hasn't laid eyes on Pakistain since Caesar made corporal. Judging from the size of him,he may be a Hutt... regarded Dr Farooq as a threat and wanted him eliminated. The JIT report also noted that all three suspects were members of the All Pakistain Muttahida Students Organisation, the MQM's student wing. The suspects were sent to Adiyala jail on 14-day judicial remand by an Islamabad anti-terrorism court. The gruesome murder took place on Sept 16, 2010, near Dr Farooq's London home. The London police had named Mohsin Ali Syed and Mohammad Kashif Khan Kamran as desperados in connection with the murder as they were in the UK when Dr Farooq was murdered. They arrested the three men during the last five years but released them later without filing any charges. However, there's more than one way to stuff a chicken... it was widely reported that both Mohsin and Kamran had been taken into custody by Pak intelligence agents the moment they landed at Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... airport in 2010. The third suspect, Khalid Shamim, was allegedly taken into custody in January 2011 and a petition regarding his 'illegal detention and going missing' was filed by his wife in the Sindh High Court. |

[DAWN] The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday started the paperwork but haven't done much else against Muttahida Qaumi Movement ...English: United National Movement, generally known as MQM, is the 3rd largest political party and the largest secular political party in Pakistain with particular strength in Sindh. Possible breakthrough |
2015-06-20 |
[DAWN] AS the latest developments indicate, it seems there has been some forward movement at last in the Dr Imran Farooq murder case. On Thursday, two men wanted in the senior MQM leader's 2010 murder in London, were picked up from Chaman, the border town on the Afghan frontier, by security forces. The two suspects were reportedly incarceratedYez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! by the Frontier Corps ...a provincial paramilitary force. Total manpower is about 80,000. They are tasked to help local law enforcement in the maintenance of law and order, and to carry out border patrol and anti-smuggling operations.... when they tried to enter the country from Afghanistan while an FC official said they had been in that country for some time. This development adds a strange twist to the case, as it had earlier been suspected that two individuals involved in the murder were in the custody of Pak intelligence. Are the two suspects -- Mohsin Ali and Khalid Shamim -- arrested at the Afghan border the same men? Earlier this year, another suspect, Moazzam Ali, had been arrested from Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... . He was said to have provided logistical support to Dr Farooq's killers. The whereabouts of yet another key suspect, Kashif Khan Kamran, is still not known. If the men arrested at Chaman are indeed the ones involved in the murder of Dr Farooq, then their capture would be a major breakthrough. However, if you can't say something nice about a person some juicy gossip will go well... several questions remain. An important one is, how did the suspects end up in Afghanistan, when it was being speculated earlier that they were in the custody of Pak intelligence, apparently whisked away from Karachi airport when one of the suspects arrived at the facility to pick up the two other suspects after Dr Farooq's murder. These missing links need to be explained by the state. Overall, we hope that the capture of the men does indeed lead to the case being resolved and to punishment for those directly involved in the killing, as well as for those aiding and abetting them. The MQM -- which has denied any links to the arrested men -- should not have any qualms about pushing for the trial of the suspects so that the killers of the senior Muttahida leader are unmasked and punished. |

"Both accused were apprehended at Addah Kahol area of the border," the front man said, giving no further details. Wasey said the federal interior ministry was also informed of the arrests. An important breakthrough is expected in the Imran Farooq murder case, a security official who declined to be named told Dawn.com. The source added that both suspects had been based in neighbouring Afghanistan for a long time. FIA and district administration of Killa Abdullah have decided to shift the accused from Chaman to Quetta, for which strict security arrangements have been made. Khalid Shamim, according to a petition filed by his wife in the Sindh High Court, has been missing since January 6, 2011, and was an accounts officer of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board. Prime suspect in Imran Farooq murder arrested in Karachi: Nisar |

[DAWN] Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ... Uncle FesterSharif. He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. However (comma) Khan told the U.S. ambassador that he was in fact pro-American but he and the PML-N would have to be critical of US actions in order to remain publicly credible. Khan cited his wife and children's US citizenship as proof, which means he's lying to one side or the other and probably both. He wears a wig, but you probably guessed that. since hair doesn't grow naturally in that shape or texture... on Monday said the primary suspect in Dr Imran Farooq's murder case has been placed in durance vile Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! from Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... and will be presented in court tomorrow (Tuesday). Speaking to news hounds in Islamabad, Nisar Ali Khan did not disclose the name of the suspect but said his identity will be made public when he is presented in court tomorrow. "Since the past year our intelligence agencies were making all efforts to arrest the central character behind the incident," Nisar said. "The two other men who were suspected [of being involved in the murder], they were poor people," the minister said, referring to the two Pak nationals --29-year-old Mohsin Ali Syed and 34-year-old Muhammad Kashif Khan Kamran -- wanted by British authorities investigating the murder. "They went to England for the first time. Their trip to England, their visas, the courses they were enrolled in and the money to finance the visit -- the thousands of pounds in fees that they paid -- the man behind the basis of this plot, according to our investigation, has been caught in Karachi by intelligence and security agency operations." "That person has been arrested through targeted operations by Pakistain's security and intelligence agencies, he added. "I have said on multiple occasions that it is not about politics, it is about murder, and the point is to bring those responsible for it before the law," Nisar said. Nisar said a JIT will also be formed to investigate the case, and a proper application for that will be submitted in the next two days. "Due to the international implications and repercussions of the case, federal institutions that have been part of the investigation will also be a part of the JIT," said the interior minister. What ever information we had, we shared it with Scotland Yard and the British government, said the interior minister. Sources said Nisar was referring to Moazzam Ali, a man arrested from his Azizabad home in the last 48 hours with suspected links to the MQM. The party, however, has strongly denied No, no! Certainly not! any connection with the two people arrested by Rangers from a house in Azizabad. MQM leader Dr Imran Farooq, aged 50, was on his way home from work when he was murdered in Green Lane on September 16, 2010 outside his London home. A post-mortem examination found that he died from multiple stab wounds and blunt trauma to the head. Farooq claimed asylum in Britannia in 1999. He was wanted in Pakistain over scores of charges including torture and murder but always claimed the accusations were politically motivated. He had twice been elected as a politician in Pakistain but went into hiding in 1992 when the government ordered a military crackdown against MQM activists in Karachi. Last month, Nisar had said in the Parliament that Farooq's muder as well as a March 11 security raid on the MQM headquarters in Karachi and some subsequent outbursts by the MQM chief Altaf Hussain ...think of the head of the Barzini clan, only in Urdu... against Pakistain's military were discussed when British High Commissioner Philp Barton came to meet him in Islamabad. |
