Iran threatens to close Mediterranean Sea over Gaza war
2023-12-23
[NY Post] An Iranian leader threatened on Saturday to close off the Mediterranean Sea in retaliation for the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, local media outlets said.

Israel and the West "shall soon await the closure of the Mediterranean Sea, [the Strait of] Gibraltar and other waterways," Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards warned.

The potential closure would be revenge for the United States and its allies for supporting "crimes" in the Gaza Strip as part of Israel’s retaliatory war in wake of Hamas’ Oct. 7 terror attack, the military commander said.

Iran backs Hamas, as well as Lebanon’s Hezbollah and the Houthi rebels from Yemen, but has no direct access to the Mediterranean itself — making it unclear exactly how the Guards plan to close off the vast sea.

Naqdi, however, referred to "the birth of new powers of resistance and the closure of other waterways."

Over the past month, Iran has played a major role in the Houthi attacks on Israeli and ally-linked merchant vessels in the Red Sea, which have prompted some shipping companies to pause operations or alter their routes.

Earlier this week, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced a new partnership aimed at combating the attacks.

"The recent escalation in reckless Houthi attacks originating from Yemen threatens the free flow of commerce, endangers innocent mariners and violates international law," Austin said in a statement from Bahrain.

On Friday, the White House confirmed that Iran was "deeply involved" in planning the Houthi attacks.

Top Iranian commander says Israel ‘must be annihilated’
2019-01-12
[ALMASDARNEWS] Brig. Gen. Mohammad Reza Naqdi, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Deputy Commander for Cultural and Social Affairs, said in an interview that Iran could easily defeat Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, and threatened to overrun American military bases in the Middle East.

In an interview that was originally conducted on 28 December by the Iraqi television network al-Nujab, but translated only Wednesday by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Naqdi said that the "Islamic revolution in Iran will not back down" from the goal of bringing defeat to Israel.

Naqdi, a former head of the Basij militia, said that there is no doubt that Israel must be "annihilated and destroyed" while adding that neither Russia nor any other country could intermediate.

"We were, we are, and we will continue to be the soldiers of Imam Khamenei until our last breath and until the last drop of our blood. I myself will hoist the flag of the Islamic Revolution in Jerusalem, Allah willing," the general said.
Allah Magic Eight Ball says: "No"
He also dismissed the possibility of a US attack in Iran: "America will not launch a war against Iran," he told the interviewer. "If it does ‐ a possibility that I rule out ‐ we will destroy all its military bases in the region. We currently stand before the gates and barbed wire [surrounding those bases], and if they make a wrong move, we will cross those barbed wire fences."

General called Arabia’s military capabilities as "very laughable." "We have a Farsi proverb that goes, ’You cannot compare an ant to an elephant.’ Saudi Arabia is incapable of controlling even its domestic front. It uses fighter planes to bomb small neighborhoods in Saudi Arabia. I believe that Saudi Arabia is much weaker than you might think.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iran has appointed Brigadier General Gholam Hossein Gheibparvar as the new commander of Iran’s Basij (mobilization) Forces after years of serving as the commanders of the country’s forces.

He replaces Mohammad Reza Naqdi, who served as the Basij’s leader for nine years.

Gheibparvar served as the commander of Iranian forces in Syria since October 2015.

He is known as a strong critic and silencer of Iranian internal opposition members, especially the student opposition groups in universities and the popular Green Movement that that arose after the 2009 Iranian presidential election, in which protesters demanded the removal of former President Mahmoud Short Round Ahmadinejad from office.

Senior Iranian military official: US is subordinate to Iran in Middle East
2016-02-10
Naqdi claimed that Iran under the Shah's rule was subordinate to the American administration, while today the United States subordinates to Iran's dominance in the Middle East.

The commander of the Basij paramilitary force of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Reza Naqdi, vowed that Tehran "will not make any compromises with our enemies in the Middle East."

Speaking in a press conference in honor of the anniversary of the 1979 Iranian revolution, Naqdi emphasized that "the hundreds of Revolutionary Guards generals fighting in Syria will never repeat the mistake of the Shi'ite Caliph Hassan bin Ali who surrendered leadership of the Muslim world to Muawiyyah bin Abi Sufyan."

Naqdi added that "it is impossible to compare Iran to Iran under the Shah's rule, since back then, Iran was subordinate to the American administration, while today, the United States subordinates to Iran's dominance in the Middle East and it cannot act in the region without getting the approval of the Supreme Leader of Iran."

In addition, Naqdi argued that while senior "American officials visit the Middle East secretly, images of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Iran's Quds Force, spread across the streets in Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq and Syria."

Naqdi also attacked the nuclear deal with the great powers, blaming Iranian President Hassan Rouhani for concealing secret paragraphs of the agreement and making big concessions to the US in exchange for an agreement.

The Basij commander and other heads of Iranian security forces strongly oppose Iran's nuclear deal since it reduces their dominance in the state apparatus and opens Iran to Western influence.

Iran militia top dog: Israel's destruction non-negotiable
2015-04-02
[Jihad Watch] The commander of the Basij militia of Iran's Revolutionary Guards said that "erasing Israel off the map" is "nonnegotiable," according to an Israel Radio report Tuesday.

Militia chief Mohammad Reza Naqdi also threatened Saudi Arabia, saying that the offensive it is leading in Yemen "will have a fate like the fate of Saddam Hussein."

Naqdi's comments were made public as Iran and six world powers prepared Tuesday to issue a general statement agreeing to continue nuclear negotiations in a new phase aimed at reaching a comprehensive accord by the end of June.

In 2014, Naqdi said Iran was stepping up efforts to arm West Bank Palestinians for battle against Israel, adding the move would lead to Israel's annihilation, Iran's Fars news agency reported.

"Arming the West Bank has started and weapons will be supplied to the people of this region," Naqdi said.

"The Zionists should know that the next war won't be confined to the present borders and the Mujahedeen will push them back," he added. Naqdi claimed that much of Hamas's arsenal, training and technical knowhow in the summer conflict with Israel was supplied by Iran.

Iran Supreme Leader Touts 9-Point Plan To Destroy Israel
2014-11-11
[IsraelTimes] Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called over the weekend for the destruction of Israel, stating that the "barbaric" Jewish state "has no cure but to be annihilated."

A plan titled "9 key questions about the elimination of Israel" was posted on his Twitter account Saturday night, using the hashtag #handsoffalaqsa, in reference to the recent tensions on the Temple Mount.

The sometimes grammatically awkward list explained the how and why of Khomeini's vision for replacing Israel with a Paleostinian state.

The first point stated that "the fake Zionist regime has tried to realize its goals by means of infanticide, homicide, violence & iron fist while boasts about it blatantly."

Due to the above, Khomeini argued, "the only means of bringing Israeli crimes to an end is the elimination of this regime."

However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
he noted that destroying Israel would not mean the "massacre of the Jewish people in this region" but rather "the Islamic Theocratic Republic has proposed a practical & logical mechanism for this to the international communities."

The "proper way of eliminating Israel," he suggested, is through a "public and organized referendum" for all of the "original people of Paleostine including Moslems, Christians, and Jews wherever they are..." However,
a clean conscience makes a soft pillow...
"the Jewish immigrants who have been persuaded into emigration to Paleostine do not have the right to take part."

The resulting government would then decide if the "non-Paleostinian emigrants" can remain in the country or should "return to their home countries."

Khomeini charged the international community with overcoming the "usurper Zionist" objections to his "fair and logical plan." Until the referendum, Israel should be confronted with "resolute and armed resistance."

The Iranian leader also called for arming the people of the West Bank and Gazoo to fight against Israel, and rejected "arbitration by UN or other international organizations" because "the fact that Yasser Arafat was poisoned and killed by Israel...proves that in the viewpoint of Israel 'peace' is simply a trick for more crimes and occupation."

"This barbaric, wolflike & infanticidal regime of #Israel which spares no crime has no cure but to be annihilated," Khamenei wrote in an earlier tweet on Friday.

"West Bank should be armed just like #Gazoo. Friends of Paleostine should do their best to arm People in West Bank," he declared in another.

The Iranian supreme leader first called for the arming of Paleostinians in the West Bank in July, during the summer's 50-day conflict.

In late August, Iran said it was stepping up efforts to arm West Bank Paleostinians for battle against Israel, with Basij militia chief Mohammad Reza Naqdi saying the move would lead to Israel's annihilation, Iran's Fars news agency reported.

"Arming the West Bank has started and weapons will be supplied to the people of this region," Naqdi, who heads the nationwide paramilitary network, said.

"The Zionists should know that the next war won't be confined to the present borders and the Mujahedeen will push them back," he added. Naqdi claimed that much of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,'s arsenal, training and technical knowhow in the recent conflict with Israel was supplied by Iran.

Iranians burn US flags to mark embassy takeover
2012-11-02
Thousands of Iranians chanting "Death to America" burned US flags to mark the 33rd anniversary of the seizure of the American embassy in Tehran, just days before the presidential election.

The protesters also chanted anti-British and anti-Israeli slogans, and burned Israeli flags, in front of the site of the former embassy, dubbed the "den of spies" by the officials who sponsor the commemoration every year.

At Friday's demonstration, the commander of Iran's Basij militia, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, said the Islamic tyranny republic will face the sanctions directly. He said, "The Iranian nation has chosen its path and will overcome the sanctions by adopting the 'economy of resistance'," he said, referring to Ayatollah Khamenei's policy toward the punitive measures.

Iranian leaders are now beginning to acknowledge the extent of the damage and denouncing what they say is an "economic war" against the Islamic tyranny republic.

Naqdi said, "Those who say that by compromising with the US, the economic situation will improve... (should know that) this is a big lie and deceit. We have declared a 10 kilo (22 pounds) in gold reward for researchers and historians, who have 10 years to prove that there is a more criminal country than America in the world... the US is the most hated among all nations."

Bahrain, Saudi regimes will face Saddam fate: Iran cmdr.
2012-05-19
[Iran Press TV] A senior Iranian military commander says the regimes of Al Khalifa in Bahrain and Al Saud in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in their national face...
will face the same fate as former despots in Iraq, Tunisia and Egypt.

"Al Khalifa and Al Saud regimes should come to realize that their American masters are simply looking for new lackeys in the region. What happened ultimately to Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, Saddam Hussein, Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali, Hosni Mubarak
...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011...
and other dictators, now awaits them," Commander of Iran's Basij Force Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi said in Tehran on Friday.

He noted that Iranians defend the rights of Bahraini people and support their months-long struggle for democracy.

Brigadier General Naqdi also lashed out at US, UK and other hegemonic powers' hollow claims of support for human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
, arguing that they should answer to world public opinion for their protection of Al Khalifa despotic regime.
