US slaps sanctions on 8 LeT leaders including 26/11 mastermind
2012-08-31
[India Express] The United States on Thursday slapped sanctions on Pakistain-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba's
...the Army of the Pure, an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...
top eight commanders, including Mumbai terrorist attack criminal mastermind Sajid Mir and its founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed's

son.

Announcing the sanctions, the US said LeT, despite being designated as a foreign terrorist organization in January 2002, continues to "operate in Pakistain" and throughout the region and engage in terrorist activities worldwide.

"LeT has conducted numerous terrorist acts against Pak, Indian, Afghan and US interests and is responsible for the November 2008 Mumbai attacks that killed more than 160 people, including six Americans, and the July 2006 Mumbai train bombings that killed more than 180 people," the Department of Treasury said.

Besides Mir, other LeT leaders slapped with sanctions are Abdullah Mujahid, Ahmed Yaqub, Hafiz Khalid Walid, Qari Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Amir Hamza, Abdullah Muntazir, and Talha Saeed, the son of the LeT leader Saeed.

Individuals targeted today are based in Pakistain and involved in LeT's propaganda campaigns, financial networks, and logistic support networks.

"Today's targets also include military commanders directly responsible for the murderous 2008 Mumbai attacks as well as attacks on coalition and Afghan forces. Today's designations are designed to undermine LeT's leadership and support networks of LeT that have planned terrorist attacks around the world," the Treasury Department said.

"Today's action against LeT is Treasury's most comprehensive to date against this group and includes individuals participating in all aspects of LeT's operations - from commanders planning attacks to those managing LeT's relationships with other terrorist groups," Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David S Cohen said.

Jihadis starting to worry about Hafiz Saeed's detention...
2002-07-27
Expressing profound concern about the whereabouts of her missing life partner of Hafiz Muhammad Saeed Ameer (chief) of Jamaat-ud-Dawat Pakistan, Umme Talha Friday threw a warning to the government saying, " if some thing odd happens to him (Hafiz) government would be responsible for it.'
"Cuz we're not responsible for our own actions..."
She sounded this concern in a joint wordy and lengthy statement along with her son Hafiz Talha Saeed and son-in-law Hafiz Khalid Walid.
The last named is head of Lashkar-e-Taiba, which Hafiz Saeed used to head. Again we see a terror machine being operated as a family business...
She has termed her husbands over two months illegal confinement as injustice and barbarism saying that President Musharraf and his family has to pay the price for this cruelty.
Sounds like a threat, doesn't it?

JI's Qazi busy building alliances for the elections
2002-03-21
  • Former caretaker Prime Minister and chief of National Peoples Party, Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi called on Jama'at-i-Islami duce Qazi Hussain Ahmad at Mansoora. They discussed plans to forge an alliance between Majlas-i-Amal and National Peoples Party. Later a delegation of Jamaat Al Dawa comprising Hafiz Khalid Waleed, Haji Muhammad Ashraf, Maulana Ameer Hamza and Yehya Mujahid also called on Qazi Hussain Ahmad for discussions.
  • Majlis-i-Amal is an umbrella organization of eight religious parties with ties of burning love to Lashkar-i-Taiba, Sipah-i-Sahaba and the other usual suspects. It represents the core groups making up the Pak-Afghan Defense Council. It is headed, coincidentally, by Maulana Shah Ahmad Naurani, head of the Jamaat-i-Ulema Pakistan.
  • Yahya Mujahid is the spokesman for Lashkar.
  • I'm not sure, but I think Maulana Ameer Hamza is the Mir Hamza who was one one of the signatories on Binny's Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders. He was the secretary of the Jamiat-ul-Ulema-e-Pakistan at the time.
  • Jamaat-al-Dawa is the umbrella organization that covers Lashkar-e-Taiba. The umbrella group changed its name from Markaz al-Dawa wal-Irshad in December in an attempt to thwart the US freeze on its funds when Lashkar and Jaish-e-Mohammad were declared terrorist organizations. Curiously, it wasn't banned when its component organizations were.
  • Hafiz Khalid Walid is the head of Lashkar.
