The view from India - Pahalgam Terror Attack, Day 2: Attari Border Closed, Indus Water Treaty With Pak Suspended, 1400 rounded up
2025-04-24 | |
See Day 1 here and here. Round up of Pakistan reports here. Go safely under God’s hand, Dron, wherever you are. [OneIndia liveblog] Terrorists opened fire at a famed meadow near Kashmir's Pahalgam town on Tuesday afternoon, killing 26 people, mostly tourists, in what is the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019.The 26 dead included two foreigners and two locals, a high ranking official said without getting into details. Baisaran, about six kilometres from the resort town of Pahalgam, is an expansive meadow ringed by dense pine forests and mountains and a favourite with visitors from across the country and the world. Armed terrorists came into the grassland, dubbed 'mini Switzerland', and started firing at tourists milling around eateries, taking pony rides or just picnicking, officials and eyewitnesses said. Apr 24, 2025, 8:16 AM IST Indian Army has launched a joint search operation with the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Poonch's Lasana forest area to nab terrorists
Apr 24, 2025, 8:06 AM IST "That is exactly what went on when October 7th 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. It was directed specifically against Jews and not only against Jews, but among the most liberal Jews who were most prone to wanting peace and normalcy with the Gaza Strip. Targeting a vacation resort, middle-class Hindus, it is evident that the Pakistanis are trying the same tactic now. It should be no more successful for Pakistan than it was for Hamas. And frankly, it's now the duty of India to do to Pakistan and to Pakistan's ISI what Israel did to Hamas. It's time to wipe out the leadership of the ISI to treat them as a designated terror group and demand that every country that is an ally of India, every country that is an ally of the world's largest democracy, do the same..." says Michael Rubin, former Pentagon official and a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute Apr 23, 2025, 11:22 PM IST The CCS decided upon the following measures: (1) The Indus Waters Treaty of 1960 will be held in abeyance with immediate effect until Pakistan credibly and irrevocably abjures its support to cross border terrorism. (2)The Attari Integrated Check Post (ICP) will be closed with immediate effect. Those who have crossed over with valid endorsements may return through that route before May 1, 2025. (3) Pakistani nationals will not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme visas. Any SVES visas issued in the past to Pakistani nationals are deemed cancelled. Any Pakistani nationals, currently in India under SVES visa, have 48 hours to leave India..." Apr 23, 2025, 10:34 PM IST The world has come in support of India and mourned over death of 28 innocents killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, but Canada has not yet officially condemned or issued any statement on the gory attack. Many Khalistan-supporting Sikhs have made their residence in Canada, even becoming citizens, while continuing to meddle in events back home. Apr 23, 2025, 7:56 PM IST Jammu and Kashmir Hundreds of suspects have been detained in Jammu and Kashmir, probe underway Apr 23, 2025, 5:51 PM IST Security agencies released photographs of the suspected terrorists involved in the brutal attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 28 lives. The names of the terrorists are Aadil Guree, Aasif Shaikh , Suleman Shah and Abu Talha. The terrorists used code names - Moosa, Yunus and Asif. Photo of the four miscreants at that time at the link, all in dark, Western civilian, long-sleeved shirts and slacks or cargo pants, harnesses with pockets filled with magazines (?), and their trigger fingers carefully laid along the side of whatever their guns (rifles? but three don’t seem to have shoulder stocks, so I’m confused) instead of on the trigger. The training we’ve been doing in Iraq and Afghanistan has had at least that one beneficial aspect — fewer are being killed accidentally because the bad guys know that serious military are careful about that. Pahalgam Attack: Security Forces Detain Over 1400 Suspects, Probe Underway [Oneindia] A day after cowardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives and left several injured, security forces initiated an extensive crackdown. According to the reports, over 250 overground workers (OGWs) linked to terror groups have been detained in South Kashmir. Additionally, around 1,200 suspects of terrorism-related activities have been apprehended throughout Kashmir.
Indus Water Treaty Suspended: Major Pakistani Cities to Face Water and Power Blackouts [OneIndia] The suspension of this long-standing treaty marks a significant escalation, as it will halt the flow of water from the Indus river system-which includes the Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej rivers-into Pakistan. These rivers are vital to Pakistan's water supply, supporting tens of millions of people. India Scales Down Diplomatic Ties With Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack: Echoes of 26/11 [Oneindia] In the aftermath of the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir-where over two dozen tourists were killed and several injured-India has launched a sharp diplomatic offensive. New Delhi has announced a significant reduction in diplomatic mission strength, bringing down the number of officials in both Indian and Pakistani High Commissions from 55 to 30. This move signals a severe downgrade in bilateral ties without a complete diplomatic rupture. Scaling down diplomatic staff, particularly Defence, Naval, and Air Advisors, is a serious diplomatic signal. By declaring them 'persona non grata', India is essentially accusing these officials of actions incompatible with diplomatic norms-commonly implying espionage, subversion, or indirect support to terrorism. This is not just administrative downsizing but a strategic message: that normal diplomacy cannot continue alongside terror. The move to cut staff strength reflects India's stance of "Terror and Talks Cannot Go Hand-in-Hand." It leaves a bare minimum of diplomatic personnel, primarily for consular and essential services, while cutting off backchannel or informal communication avenues that often operate through military attachés. Saifullah Khalid, LeT Terrorist And TRF Commander, Identified As Mastermind Of Pahalgam Terror Attack April 23, 2025, 16:48 [IST] [OneIndia] The Jammu and Kashmir Police are receiving support from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy for the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for this attack. This incident has raised significant concerns about cross-border terrorism. Army sources have identified Saifullah Khalid, a top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, as the mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack. Known also as Saifullah Kasuri, he is believed to have been planning this assault for two months. During this period, he reportedly visited Pakistani Army camps twice to coordinate the attack. Saifullah is closely associated with Hafiz Saeed, the chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and serves as his deputy. He is credited with founding both TRF and People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), which are considered proxies for Lashkar. His ties with Hafiz Saeed and alleged coordination with Pakistani military elements highlight concerns about state-backed terrorism against India. Two Pakistani Terrorists Eliminated By Indian Army in Baramulla LoC Operation, Two AKs, Pistol, IED Recovered April 23, 2025, 10:08 [IST] [Oneindia] In a major success for the Indian Army, two Pakistani terrorists have been killed in an encounter during Operation Tikka in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 23, 2025. The infiltration attempt was thwarted along the Line of Control (LoC) when security forces intercepted the terrorists attempting to infiltrate through the general area of Sarjeevan at Uri Nala in Baramulla, located in north Kashmir. During the intense firefight, the terrorists were eliminated, and the security forces recovered significant war-like stores, including two AK rifles, one pistol, and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The operation is still ongoing as the Indian Army continues to secure the region and assess the situation. Jammu & Kashmir: Encounter Between Security Force & Terrorists Breaks Out In Kulgam April 23, 2025, 18:19 [IST] [OneIndia] An encounter broke out between security personnel and terrorists in the Tangmarg region of South Kashmir's Kulgam district. The gun battle happened during a search operation, and hunt for terrorists that killed 26 people in Pahalgam on Tuesday. Libyan Army Rejects Settlement of Foreigners in Libya |
2023-08-06 |
[LibyaReview] The front man for the Libyan National Army (LNA), General Ahmed al-Mismari recently shed light on the military and civil accomplishments in the city of Sebha. Despite facing significant changes in security conditions, these advancements have enabled the city to experience stability, and pave the way for development under the guidance of the LNA’s General Commander, Khalifa Haftar![]() According to al-Mismari, the LNA "defeated numerous snuffies in the Fezzan region, in more than 15 skirmishes and battles. The most critical operation since 2019 occurred in Sebha, where they eliminated a highly dangerous terrorist known as Abu Talha al-Libi." He confirmed that armed units are now deployed across the entire southwestern region, spanning four military zones. al-Mismari also pointed out that the LNA was closely monitoring neighbouring countries experiencing tensions, to prevent them from exploiting their territories to launch attacks against Libya. Additionally, efforts are underway to curb illegal immigration — an issue that affects both source and destination countries. In his closing remarks, al-Mismari emphasized that they would "not permit the settlement of a single foreigner on Libyan soil." He also stated they would "not allow the establishment of fictitious projects intended for such settlements." Libya has been in chaos since a NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A single organization with differing goals, equipment, language, doctrine, and structure.... -backed uprising toppled longtime leader Muammar Qadaffy ...The late megalomaniac dictator of Libya, admired everywhere for his garish costumes, funny hats, harem of cutie bodyguards, and incoherent ravings. As far as is known, he is the only person who's ever declared jihad on Switzerland... in 2011. The county has for years been split between rival administrations, each backed by rogue militias and foreign governments. The current stalemate grew out of the failure to hold elections in December 2021, and the refusal of Prime Minister Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, who is leading the transitional government, to step down. F-16 jets delivered an ![]() KABOOM!... in the Sundij area of Diyala’s Kifri district, and the strike "resulted in the killing of members of the terrorist group and the destruction of their guesthouses," according to the country’s Joint Operations Command. Iraqi and Kurdish security forces often carry out operations against members of the terror group despite an overall decline in their activities in recent years, and their hideouts are often tracked by the Iraqi air force and destroyed. The turbans have particularly taken shelter in a security vacuum in parts of northern Iraq that are disputed between Baghdad and Erbil, stretching across several provinces including Diyala, Salahaddin, and Kirkuk. The Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have discussed establishing joint brigades to secure areas disputed between the governments. Talks stalled because of elections and a year of political wrangling, but funds for two joint brigades are included in the draft 2023 budget. In December, an Iraqi army spokesperson revealed that they had killed over 200 ISIS fighters in 2022. |

Abu Talha is a member of ISIS's Diwan al-Jund (Soldiers Department) and the Abu Laith Brigade Ansari in Nineveh state.Idle hands being the Devil’s workshop, he has kept himself busy. The operation to track Abu Talha was coordinated with an intelligence agency in another country.Ooooooohhh — how mysterious! The Agency did not mention the other country but described it as a "brotherly country to Iraq."That After his capture, Abu Talha was brought back to Iraq and handed over to the judicial authorities for further investigation and prosecution.Maybe Syria, Iran, or Syrian Kurdistan? Iran-based trainer of 9/11 hijackers Sayf al-‘Adl believed to be new al-Qaeda chief |
2023-02-15 |
[IsraelTmes] Though successor to Ayman al-Zawahri not officially announced by terror group, most UN member states say commander is its ’uncontested leader’ UN experts say the predominant view among member nations is that the leadership of al-Qaeda has passed to Sayf al-’Adl, who was responsible for the late Osama bin Laden ...... who used to be alive but now he's not...... ’s security and trained some of the hijackers involved in the 9/11 attack on the US. The panel of experts said in a report to the UN Security Council circulated Monday that no announcement has been made of Sayf al-’Adl replacing Ayman al-Zawahri, who was killed by a US dronezap in Kabul last August. "But in discussions in November and December many UN member states took the view that Sayf al-’Adl is already operating as the de facto and uncontested leader of the group," the report said. Assessments vary as to why al-’Adl’s leadership hasn’t been declared, it said. Some countries feel that al-Zawahri’s presence in Kabul embarrassed the country’s Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... rulers who are seeking legitimacy "and that al-Qaeda chose not to exacerbate this by acknowledging the death," the experts said. "However, alcohol has never solved anybody's problems. But then, neither has milk... most judged a key factor to be the continued presence of Sayf al-’Adl in the Islamic Theocratic Republicof Iran (which) raised difficult theological and operational questions for al-Qaeda," they said. While noting that one country rejected claims that any al-Qaeda affiliate is in Iran, the panel said that the location of Sayf al-’Adl’a "raises questions that have a bearing on al-Qaeda’s ambitions to assert leadership of a global movement in the face of challenges" from the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... murderous Moslem group. Sayf al-’Adl has been listed on the UN sanctions blacklist as Egyptian-born Mohammed Salahaldin Abd El Halim Zidan since January 2001, the panel said. He is described in the UN listing as taking over as military commander of al-Qaeda following the death of Mohammed Atef — one of bin Laden’s top aides — in a US attack in November 2001. In addition to being bin Laden’s security chief, the UN says, Sayf al-’Adl taught bully boyz to use explosives and trained some of the hijackers involved in the attack in the United States on Sept. 11, 2001. It says he also trained Somali fighters who killed 18 US servicemen in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1993. Sayf al-’Adl is wanted by US authorities in connection with the August 1998 bombings of the US embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. According to the report, the threat from al-Qaeda, the Islamic State murderous Moslem group, and their affiliates "remains high in conflict zones and neighboring countries," with Africa emerging in recent years "as the continent where the harm done by terrorism is developing most rapidly and extensively." The panel said the Islamic State’s leadership has also become a question following the group’s Nov. 30 announcement that Abu al-Hassan al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi had died in a battle the previous month, the group’s second leader to be killed in 2022. "The new leader was announced as Abu al-Husain al-Husaini al-Qurashi, and his true identity is not yet known," the experts said. Member states noted numerous pledges of allegiance to Abu al-Husain by Islamic State "affiliates far and wide without specific knowledge of his identity or qualities as a leader," they said. According to the Egyptian authorities, the FBI information on Saif al-Adel confuses the biographies of two members of Al-Qaeda. The first, 'Mohammed Salah al-Din Zaidan', known as Saif al-Adel, an economy graduate, joined Al-Qaeda in 1991, but was never a member of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad. The other individual, 'Mohammed Ibrahim Makkawi', is a former Egyptian Special Forces Colonel and a former member of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, who traveled to Afghanistan in 1987 after his release from prison, and later joined Al-Qaeda. According to the indictment, Adel is a member of the majlis al shura of al-Qaeda and a member of its military committee. He has provided military and intelligence training to members of al-Qaeda and Egyptian Islamic Jihad in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Sudan, and to anti-UN Somali tribes.[5] It is possible that his trainees included the Somalis of the first Battle of Mogadishu in 1993.[6] He established the al-Qaeda training facility at Ras Kamboni in Somalia near the Kenyan border.[7] Adel was accused of being involved with Egyptian Islamic Jihad and attempting to overthrow the Egyptian government in 1987. After the charges were dismissed, he left the country in 1988 to join the mujahideen in repelling the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.[8] He is believed to have traveled to southern Lebanon along with Abu Talha al-Sudani, Saif al-Islam al-Masri, Abu Ja`far al-Masri, and Abu Salim al-Masri, where he trained alongside Hezbollah Al-Hejaz.[9] In Khartoum, Sudan, Adel taught recruited militants how to handle explosives.[4] Along with Saeed al-Masri and Mahfouz Ould al-Walid, he is believed to have opposed the September 11 attacks two months prior to their execution.[10] Many analysts believe that Saif al-Adel will be named as the successor of Ayman al-Zawahiri since he was a loyal aide of Osama bin Laden.[11] However, this is seen as a complicated issue due to his residency in Iran.[12] |

Terrorism conviction of German rapper’s wife upheld by court |
2021-03-23 |
[IsraelTimes] A top federal appeals court has upheld the terrorism conviction of the wife of a German-born rapper who joined the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... terror group in Syria and likely died in an ![]() KABOOM!... , authorities say. In a decision from March 9, the Federal Court of Justice upheld the conviction of the woman, Omaima A., ...Omaima Abdi, who had quietly returned with her children to Germany by 2016, describing herself on LinkedIn as a translator and event coordinator. She was only busted when an Arab journalist looked through a smartphone she’d left behind in Syria and found 36 gigabytes of photos, chats, and documents from her life in the ISIS caliphate in Syria... for membership in a terrorist organization as well as charges of failing to properly care for her children, weapons offenses and aiding in the enslavement of a Yazidi girl.In its decision, the Karlsruhe-based court said it had found no legal errors were made by the Hamburg state court in its October conviction of the woman, who was 36 at the time. She was given a three-and-a-half-year prison sentence. The Hamburg-born woman of Tunisian heritage, whose last name hasn’t been provided in line with German privacy laws, followed her first husband to Syria in 2015 and lived in the Islamic State stronghold of Raqqa with their three children, according to the court. After her husband ... Nader Hadra, a hotshot in German Salafi circles... was killed during fighting in 2015, she married his friend, German rapper Denis Cuspert, ... known to his ISIS friends as Abu Talha al-Almani, he was available for marriage because his previous wife, former FBI translator Daniela Green, who stupidly fell for that smooth talking specimen of love jihad before coming to her senses, finding prison in America better than staying in the caliphate with that man... who went by the stage name Deso Dogg before giving up performing and joining IS himself.The court found she used social media and email to promote life in the "caliphate" and encouraged other women from Germany to move to the territory that had been captured by the Islamic State. In addition to weapons training, she raised her children according to Islamic State ideology and subjected them to danger by keeping them in an area targeted by airstrikes, the court said. She also took a 13-year-old Yazidi girl as her "slave" and used her to do housework. Her second husband, Cuspert, who toured in the US in 2006, lent his voice to record anthems for the jihadists to use in recruiting videos they circulated online. The US government designated him a "global terrorist" and the Pentagon initially said in 2015 that Cuspert was killed in an airstrike, but withdrew the claim the following year. |

Brooklyn man pleads guilty to attempting to support ISIS

Zachary Clark, ... also known as Umar Kabir, Umar Shishani, and Abu Talha ... 41, entered the plea in Manhattan federal court after he was arrested last fall for posting manuals such as "Knife Attacks" and "Make a bomb in the kitchen of your Mom" in encrypted chat rooms designed to recruit new ISIS members. That sounds almost innocent, but he was one of the administrators for the most popular and well-known source of ISIS media and recruitment propaganda online, according to the feds. He was especially vocal about lone wolf attacks and full of advice on how to accomplish them. One of the handbooks included maps of the New York City subway system and writings on how to commit attacks in the Big Apple, according to court papers.Clark pledged support to ISIS twice in 2019, including in July when he stated his allegiance to the former leader of the terror group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, prosecutors said. ...after Al-Baghdadi’s death, Mr. Clark repledged to his successor Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Quraishi, the nom de guerre of Mohammed Abdul Rahman al-Mawli al-Salbi... He faces up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced in February, prosecutors said."Thanks to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, Clark’s efforts to incite deadly violence on behalf of ISIS have been silenced, and he now awaits sentencing for his crimes," Acting US Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a statement after the guilty plea. "Today’s plea by Mr. Clark is yet one more example of the resolve of the FBI’s JTTF in New York, and our many law enforcement partners, to protect this city and our citizens from the danger of lone wolf attacks," FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr. added. Islamic State Khorasan chief Farooqui, who plotted Kabul gurdwara attack, arrested
2020-04-04 | ||
[hindustantimes] In a special operation by Afghan security forces today, the so-called emir of Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP) Mawlawi Abdullah aka Aslam Farooqui was arrested on charges of orchestrating the attack on Kabul Gurdwara on March 25. Pakistani national Mawlawi Abdullah, who was earlier associated with proscribed Lashkar-e-Tayebba (LeT) group and then Tehreek-e-Taliban terror group, replaced Mawlawi Zia-ul-Haq aka Abu Omar Khorasani as ISKP chief in April 2019. Farooqi belongs to Mamozai tribe and from Orakzai agency area on Pak-Afghan border. According to counter-terror operatives in Kabul and Delhi, Mawlawi Farooqi on the instructions of Haqqani Network and LeT used Kasaragod resident Muhsin Tikaripur along with three other Urdu-Punjabi speaking attackers to massacre 27 innocent Sikh men and women in Shor Bazaar, Kabul. Mushin was killed in the attack and his mother in Kerala was informed of his death. The leader of Haqqani Network Sirajuddin is also the sword arm of the Taliban with very close links to the Pakistani deep state. An Indian national Tihan Singh was also killed in the attack. Although 27 Sikhs were killed in the terror attack that was criticised by US, allies and India, the main target of ISKP was the Indian Embassy in Kabul as both Pakistan and Taliban want India out of the developing Afghan political equation in the context of a peace deal with US. Similar threats have been posed to Indian consulates in Jalalabad, Herat and Kandahar with India forced to withdraw its staff for purposes of safety. Mawlawi Farooqui is now going to be questioned by Afghan National Directorate of Security to find out who ordered the attack on innocent Sikhs and what was the role of Pakistan in the terror strike. Farooqui is also expected to come up with names of his other terrorists in his group, which operates in Nangarhar, Nuristan, Kunar, Kabul and Kandahar area.
The statement further added that the NDS Special Forces also arrested 19 other top ISIS commanders during the raid including Qari Zahid and Saifullah alias Abu Talha Pakistani. Meanwhile, the National Directorate of Security said Aslam Farooqi has confessed in his initial confession that the regional intelligence agencies have robust connection with the terror group.
Farooq was operating as the commander of Daesh’s military wing in Pakistan’s Peshawar city and was deployed in Abdul Khel valley of Achin district of the eastern province of Nangarhar, said the statement. The NDS also stated that after the killing of Abu Saeed Bajawri, Farooqi was appointed as Daesh’s shadow governor in Afghanistan. Farooqi was "enjoying close relations" with the other terrorist groups such as "the Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba,” said the statement.
