and his wife at the cop shoppes of Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Kohsar under different charges, including Anti-Terrorism Act, police said.

One of the cases was registered at the Kohsar cop shoppe under section 121 of Pakistain Penal Code (waging or attempting to wage war or abetting waging of war against Pakistain), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 147 (punishment for rioting) and 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) along with ATA 7 (punishment for acts of terrorism), 11-W (printing, publishing or disseminating any material to incite hatred or giving projection to any person convicted for a terrorist act or any proscribed organization or an organization placed under observation or anyone concerned in terrorism) and 11(X) (responsibility for creating civil commotion) against the former holy man’s wife and 125 unidentified people, including women.

According to the FIR, on June 21 they blocked Jinnah Avenue and Fazl-e-Haq Road for over six hours. They also forcefully shut down shops and markets.

The holy man’s wife, Umme Hassan, threatened the CTD staff and asked TTP to kill them on sight weather they are in uniform or not, it said.

The other case was registered at the CTD cop shoppe under section 324 (murder attempt), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) along with ATA 7 and 11EE (proscription of person) against Maulana Abdul Aziz and four other persons.

According to the FIR, the CTD team in response to a tip intercepted a vehicle for the recovery of weapons at Melody on June 21. Three persons, two of them armed with SMGs, disembarked from the vehicle and one of them started firing at the police.

Maulana Aziz was also sitting in the vehicle against whom several cases of terrorism were registered. Besides, he was also included in the Fourth Schedule of the ATA, it said, adding the holy man also fired at the police from inside the vehicle.

However,
Switzerland makes more than cheese...
the police succeeded to arrest three persons and recovered SMGs from them, the FIR said, adding they failed to produce permit or licence of the weapons.

Islamabad’s Jamia Hafsa students back on streets after police operation

Lal Masjid students erupt regularly, running mad through the streets imposing Sharia law on all who catch their attention. They’re as bad as university students in medieval Paris.
[Dawn] Hundreds of Jamia Hafsa

students on Saturday staged sit-ins at two places following a clash with police after the latter demolished an under-construction structure on Friday night at the old site of the seminary adjacent to Lal Masjid

Till filing of this report at about 10pm, the students were present inside Lal Masjid and the road adjacent to Jamia Hafsa at G-7.

A policeman identified as constable Waqas was injured when some of the students pelted the police with stones.

A police officer told Dawn that Special Branch had informed the officers concerned about the ongoing construction work at a greenbelt adjacent to Lal Masjid and presence of construction material there.

The site was covered with tin sheets to hide the ongoing construction work, he added.

In response, officials from the capital police, administration and the CDA raided the site and demolished the structure, he said, adding the police also seized the construction material and removed them from the site.

Shortly afterwards, Umme Hasaan, wife of Maulana Abdul Aziz
...nutball holy man who runs the Lal Masjid in the heart of Pakistain's capital. After instigating a rebellion against the state in 2007, he was caught trying to sneak away dressed in a burka. He rejects democracy as un-Islamic, which it probably is...
, along with 250 to 300 students reached Lal Masjid and staged a sit-in, the officer said.

The sit-in led to a standoff between the students and the police. The students rolled their eyes, jumped up and down, and hollered poorly rhymed slogans real loud against the police and pelted the personnel with stones.

As a result, the constable sustained an injury to his head, he added.

In the afternoon, Maulana Aziz
...incidentally, Maulana Aziz and his brother were in regular contact with Al Qaeda big turbans, having inherited the connection from their dad along with the Red Mosque...
also reached Lal Masjid and joined the sit-in in front of the mosque.

A mufti came out from the mosque and told the police and the administration officials that he would take the holy man and the students inside if the police force was moved to one side, said the officer.

The request was accepted by a magistrate.

Later, Maulana Aziz came out from the mosque and asked the students to cover the construction site with tents and went back inside the mosque.

Till filing of this report, the students were present at the entrance to the mosque near the weekly bazaar. Some students were also staging a sit-in at a street near Jamia Hafsa in G-7.

Police, including Anti-Riot Unit, were deployed around Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa to maintain peace, the officer added.

Standoff between Maulana Aziz, officials

[DAWN] A tense environment prevailed on Saturday near the capital's Lal Masjid

, with the holy man's supporters chanting slogans amidst a heavy police presence.

Like during the previous two governments, Maulana Aziz is testing the nerves of the government by occupying the state-owned mosque for the past two weeks and reiterating his claim to be its prayer leader.

The standoff continued on Saturday, with the Maulana remaining holed up inside the mosque along with several female students. Police have cordoned off the area by placing barriers and barbed wires on the roads around the mosque.

With no solution in sight, both sides appeared to have adopted a strict posture, possibly to mount pressure on each other. The Islamabad assistant commissioner (AC) City was present outside the mosque today and discouraged interaction between police and the supporters of Maulana Aziz who continued to arrive at the site the whole day in a bid to cross the barricades.

The CDA's Building Control Directorate sent a notification in this regard to the seminary's khateeb, Maulana Abdul Aziz

"It has [come] to the notice of this authority that [the] following violations of the Islamabad Building Regulations, 1963 and Islamabad Residential Sectors Zoning (Building Control) Regulations, 2005 have been committed on your above-mentioned plot," the notification states.

It highlights that the violation in question pertains to starting "construction work at [the] site without getting approval from [the] authority".

The deputy director of the directorate's building control section (BCS) has directed Aziz, identified as the "owner/occupant" in the notification, to "stop construction work within 24 hours from the date of issuance of this notice and apply for approval along with relevant documents, i.e. architectural and structural drawings".

No action has been taken by the seminary in response to the notice so far, according to DawnNewsTV.

REBUILDING OF JAMIA HAFSA
The Jamia Hafsa building and the library were demolished by the government following the military operation in 2007 against Lal Masjid.

After the operation, the government and the mosque administration, led by Maulana Aziz, reached an agreement under which the CDA would provide an alternative site for the reconstruction of Jamia Hafsa.

The CDA allotted 20 kanals of land for this in H-11, where the Lal Masjid administration is said by the CDA to have begun construction work without getting plans approved in advance.

Lal Masjid siege

[DAWN] TEN years ago today, militancy in Pakistain took a darker and more ominous turn. On July 12, 2007, the army’s siege of the Lal Masjid

religious complex in Islamabad went kaboom! into a pitched battle that lasted several hours. The encounter, which saw commandos storming the complex and fighting heavily armed holy warriors from room to room, left at least 100 forces of Evil dead, including Lal Masjid’s charismatic deputy imam Abdul Rashid Ghazi, and claimed the lives of 11 armed forces personnel. Aided by a huge stockpile of weapons inside, the long stand-off and the bloody denouement illustrated the tenacity of anti-state elements determined to fight to the death. The conclusion of the assault also brought to an end the moral vigilantism unleashed by Lal Masjid’s ’vice’ squads across the capital.

On the face of it, Operation Sunrise was a triumph for the state, a demonstration of its fearsome power. Soon enough though, it became clear that it was more of a pyrrhic victory for the state, but an enduring one for the murderous Moslems. A mishandled operation that resulted in a large number of fatalities, the siege proved to be a propaganda coup for the murderous Moslems. Instead of being a deterrent, it catalysed violent bully boyz -- already in revolt against the state following what they saw as a betrayal of the jihadist cause after 9/11 -- to unite under the umbrella of the Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain. Terrorist attacks, particularly suicide kabooms, saw a marked escalation. Now that a decade has passed, and kinetic operations have dismantled much of the murderous Moslem infrastructure, it is time to reflect upon what lessons have been learnt. After all, the siege was not inevitable: it need not have come to pass had the state not winked at radical elements establishing a stronghold in the very heart of Pakistain’s capital. It acted belatedly after the situation had spiralled out of control. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits...
even today, many madressahs are run by religious organizations whose allegiance to Lion of Islam ideologies should be cause for concern -- some of them are even on the interior ministry’s watch list. Resisting government oversight, they cultivate in their students the same radical mindset that has already proven so costly for the nation. And even though Lal Masjid’s Shuhada Foundation was rightly denied permission to hold a remembrance ceremony for the ’deaders’ of the siege, it illustrates how the ultra right continues to push the boundaries. The question is: are we pushing back hard enough?

is set to stir another controversy as he has decided to preside over a conference to mark the 10th anniversary of Lal Masjid operation.

"Invitations will be sent to the president, prime minister, the director general of the ISI and the federal cabinet along with leaders of like-minded political and religious parties to attend the conference," said a close aide to the holy man.

The conference, scheduled to be held on July 7, will be organised by Shuhada Foundation at Lal Masjid.

The foundation announced that the conference would not only be a milestone towards the implementation of ’Sharia’ but would also prove to be a referendum towards the imposition of Islam in the country.

"We will file an application with the capital administration on Tuesday so that there is an ample time for them to clear all queries," the holy man’s aide added.

"Similarly, invitations will be forwarded to key religious and political personalities and the leadership of the country as well as the head of the intelligence agency this week."

He said extending invitations to key officials would help the organisers put pressure on the local administration to grant permission for the conference besides facilitating the guests to set their schedule well on time to attend the event.

Meanwhile,
...back at the precinct house, Sergeant Maloney wasn't buying it. It was just too pat. The whole thing smelled phony, kind of like a dead mackeral but without the scales...
a front man for the Shuhada Foundation said there was no need to obtain any NOC from the government as the conference was being held inside the mosque.

"If they do not give us the NOC we will approach the Islamabad High Court to get out right to hold the conference to highlight the sacrifices rendered by our comrades for the implementation of Islam in the country," said Hafiz Ehtesham Ahmed, the front man.

, as the federal government has said it is a "case of no evidence".

The petition was filed by a representative of the civil society, Mohammad Jibran Nasir, in which he sought directions for the Islamabad police to register an FIR against Mr Aziz, his wife and the students of Jamia Hafsa
... the Islamic nunnery maintained by Lal Masjid....
for allegedly pledging allegiance to ISIS.

In his petition, Mr Nasir has said that students of Jamia Hafsa released a video on social media in which they invited ISIS to intervene in Pakistain and to kill soldiers and civilians, chop off their hands, behead them and tear apart their bodies to avenge the killing of the late Osama bin Laden
... who is now sometimes referred to as Mister Bones...
and the Lal Masjid operation.

The petitioner said Maulana Aziz’s name was included in the list of proscribed persons in the Anti-Terrorism Act’s Fourth Schedule and that his wife and students had earlier taken up arms against the state which had resulted in the Lal Masjid operation of 2007.

A report filed by the interior ministry in the IHC said that claims of the suspects ‐ female students of religious institutions and their teachers - waging war against Pakistain needs to be backed by evidence that can stand the test of scrutiny.

IHC Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani
... four star general, current Chief of Army Staff of the Mighty Pak Army. Kayani is the former Director General of ISI...
dismissed the petition saying that since the federal government and the Islamabad police did not recommend the registration of an FIR, they could not be directed for the same.

The veiled truth
2016-07-17
[DAWN] So how have these all-encompassing garments come to cover millions of girls and women across the Moslem world? After all, there is nothing in the Holy Book commanding women to conceal themselves from head to toe. While modesty in attire is enjoined for both men and women, the current vogue is relatively new.

In the subcontinent, burqas were worn by well-born ladies in cities when they left their homes to show they did not have to work. This was more a statement of class than of religion. Most Pak women who migrated to the UK from socially backward areas like Mirpur wore dupattas, but seldom burqas. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
many of their daughters and granddaughters, born and brought up in Britannia, wear full burqas as banners proclaiming their Moslem identity.

Nothing provokes the unspoken outrage of the most tolerant Brit than the sight of a totally concealed woman walking down the street. Apart from further separating immigrants colonists from their hosts, the veil also prevents girls from taking part in normal school activities like athletics, swimming and theatre.

In fact, a Moslem girl in Switzerland
...home of the Helvetians, famous for cheese, watches, yodeling, and William Tell...
was recently denied citizenship as she refused to meet her school requirement of swimming with her male and female classmates. In one Swiss canton, voters in a referendum agreed to impose a 9,200 euro fine on anyone wearing the full niqab or burqa.

Are these signs of growing Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
? The short answer is yes. Given the increasing number of Moslems migrating to Europe by hook or by crook, and the heightened security concerns caused by terrorism, anti-Moslem sentiments should not surprise us.

So how did these inconvenient and unattractive garments come to cover millions of Moslem women across the world? Traditionally, it was in Afghanistan and Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, two of the most socially backward countries in the Moslem world, that women were obliged to cover themselves completely. These tribal garments were given religious legitimacy by local holy mans. They, together with Saudi Arabia’s Lion of Islam version of Islam, were exported to other Moslem states after 1973 when the sharp spike in oil prices filled Saudi coffers.

Apart from these social and religious factors, there is a security aspect to the burqa. When Ali Haider Gilani, the son of Pakistain’s ex-PM was kidnapped, he was apparently dressed in a burqa while being driven to the tribal areas. Thus, the car he was in was not stopped at security checkposts along the way. What cop would risk insulting the husband or brother of a burqa-clad lady by asking her to reveal her face?

And famously, Maulana Abdul Aziz
...nutball holy man who runs the Lal Masjid in the heart of Pakistain's capital. After instigating a rebellion against the state in 2007, he was caught trying to sneak away dressed in a burka. He rejects democracy as un-Islamic, which it probably is...
was captured wearing a burqa while trying to flee Islamabad’s Lal Masjid
...literally the Red Mosque, located in Islamabad and frequented by all sorts of high govt officials. The proprietors, Ghazi Abdul Rasheed and Maulana Abdul Aziz Ghazi, unleashed their Islamic storm troopers on the city, shutting down whorehouses and beating people up who weren't devout enough. after the shootout that finally ended the siege. In many other crimes and terrorist attacks, burqas have been used to conceal identities and weapons.

But how does a Moslem state legislate to insist that women in veils reveal their faces? Increasingly, however, Western countries are showing they will not risk the safety of citizens by permitting Moslem women to cover themselves from head to toe.
