Zeldin shutters multimillion-dollar Biden EPA museum that 'scarcely' saw visitors
2025-04-01
[FoxNews] "It's interactive where you can blow up the Gold King mine and flood the Animas River watershed with toxic waste! Fun for the whole family!"
'The scarcely visited museum cost a whopping $4 million taxpayer dollars to build,' according to Zeldin's EPA

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin is shuttering the Biden-era EPA museum located near the White House that "scarcely" saw visitors since it opened in 2024, Fox News Digital learned.

Zeldin announced Monday afternoon that the National Environmental Museum and Education Center, which opened last year under the Biden administration, will shutter after costing taxpayers millions to build and subsequently drew a lackluster number of visitors.

"The scarcely visited museum cost a whopping $4 million taxpayer dollars to build in accordance with Smithsonian standards and more than $600,000 annually to operate," the EPA said of the museum in Monday comment provided to Fox News Digital, describing the museum as the "Biden EPA’s pet project." "It had less than 2,000 external visitors between May 2024-February 2025 and while the museum was free, the cost to taxpayers per external visitor amounted to nearly $315 per person."

The EPA museum opened in May 2024 within the William Jefferson Clinton federal building, which is home to the EPA's headquarters and sits just blocks from the White House. A smaller EPA exhibit previously was showcased in a neighboring federal building ahead of the construction and opening of the National Environmental Museum and Education Center in 2024.

The Epstein Files: The FBI Swamp Is Deep and Wide, and Flows Through NYC
2025-03-01
I lost track — what happened with this?
[HotAir] BREAKING NEWS: US Attorney General @PamBondi says we can expect brand new Jeffrey Epstein details TOMORROW. Expect flight logs and names… pic.twitter.com/dMn4nkKefV

— Jesse Watters (@JesseBWatters) February 27, 2025

Well, it's now mid-afternoon on Thursday, and after all the hype, there's no list. And here's where the story gets really interesting. Attorney General Pam Bondi is pissed, and she wants answers.

Bondi learned yesterday that the New York City field office of the Federal Bureau of Investigations was in possession of thousands of pages of records pertaining to the Jeffrey Epstein case, and is just refusing to turn it over to both FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C, and to the Department of Justice.

Bondi discussed this with Director Kash Patel, who was literally sworn in to run the Bureau two days ago. He had no idea the New York City office had gone rogue. Regardless, Bondi is not messing around here. She has given a hard redline. Compile the files and turn them over to DOJ by 8AM tomorrow, the 28th. She does not spell out the "or else", nor should she have to. She is also going to take possession of an after-action report in two weeks as to who in the New York office did not comply and why it was not done, and what heads have been rolled as a result. It's not a request.

A couple of things to note here. Number one, for all the talk on the left about how the government has become a dictatorship, Toure' being just the most recent example on CNN last night...

...what is happening within the Bureau is police state stuff, not a democratic republic. The FBI field offices answer directly to the D.C. office and its director. Period. The entire Bureau answers to the Attorney General. She is the boss. Bondi reports to and is held accountable to the president of the United States. The New York office does not have the ability to decide what gets turned out and what doesn't.

What is not known at this time is whether Patel has flooded the zone in New York. Are documents being destroyed right now? Are they finally cooperating? We don't know. All we do know is the rot at the Bureau is not just the 7th floor of the Hoover Building. It apparently is spread far and wide.

Watch this space, because events unfolding now are very fluid. If we're told in the morning that all of the documents are destroyed, and all that remains are a couple hundred pages of redacted material protecting the guilty, you're going to see the first crisis of confidence for Trump's new team.

Bondi and Patel seem to be on the same page. But right now, the seem to be the only two people in the Justice Department who are on that page, and that's not healthy for the republic.

John Podhoretz of Commentary recalls a period in time that is eerily similar to what's going on now - Troopergate.

This saga, of course, goes back to Former President William Jefferson Blythe Clinton, when he was governor of Arkansas, using state troopers to procure many of the women who would become notches in Clinton's belt of sexual conquests. It wasn't a good look on Arkansas state law enforcement then, and it's not a good look for the Bureau now.

Naked is the Best Disguise: the Bipartisan Deep State
2018-05-25
h/t Instapundit
One of the mysteries of the deep state is just how deep it is. Like the Kryptos sculpture in the courtyard of the Central Intelligence Agency, it has proven remarkably resistant to decoding since its emergence in the aftermath of World War II, after the creation of the CIA. It is, in a very real sense, its own cipher, hiding in plain sight all along and just daring the civilians to call it by its name: the Permanent Bipartisan Fusion Party.

As it happens, the leaders of the PBFP sat for a group portrait the other day. The occasion was the funeral of former First Lady Barbara Bush, wife of George Herbert Walker "Poppy" Bush and mother of George Walker Bush, American presidents 41 and 43, respectively. Also in the photograph was the man who beat Poppy, William Jefferson Blythe III, more commonly known as Bill Clinton; and Barack Hussein Obama II, also known as Barry Soetoro, the man who succeeded George W. Bush. And their wives, of course, including Hillary Rodham Clinton, former senator from New York, former secretary of state in the Obama Administration, and the defeated candidate in the 2016 presidential election.

...The picture is less evocative of a group portrait of past presidents as it is of a family, in this case the Kennedys, with Poppy sitting in for old Joe, the crippled paterfamilias, surrounded by the offspring who went on to wreak so much havoc upon the American body politic. For, like some Biblical genealogy, Bush I begat Clinton who begat Bush II, who would have begotten Clinton II were in not for Obama, who might have begotten either Clinton II redux or Bush III (Jeb!) were it not for Trump.

If it all sounds rather incestuous, that’s because it is.

The Mueller Investigation - Another Hillary Mole
2017-12-04
[American Thinker] How objective can an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email investigation be when the FBI agent who played a lead role was removed from it this summer for texting his pro-Hillary and anti-Trump sympathies? And why does House Intelligence committee Chairman Devin Nunes have to read about it in the New York Times and the Washington Post? As Byron York reports in the Washington Examiner:
House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes has issued an angry demand to the FBI and Department of Justice to explain why they kept the committee in the dark over the reason Special Counsel Robert Mueller kicked a key supervising FBI agent off the Trump-Russia investigation.

Stories in both the Washington Post and New York Times on Saturday reported that Peter Strzok, who played a key role in the original FBI investigation into the Trump-Russia matter, and then a key role in Mueller's investigation, and who earlier had played an equally critical role in the FBI's Hillary Clinton email investigation, was reassigned out of the Mueller office because of anti-Trump texts he exchanged with a top FBI lawyer, Lisa Page, with whom Strzok was having an extramarital affair. Strzok was transferred to the FBI's human resources office -- an obvious demotion -- in July.

Are we to believe that Strzok was diligently and impartially examining evidence related to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump while being unable to contain his anti-Trump bias? Is he the only Hillary mole? Just look at Robert Mueller’s staff and James Comey’s exoneration of Hillary Clinton after the infamous tarmac meeting between AG Loretta Lynch and unindicted conspirator in Uranium One William Jefferson Clinton. Stop when you detect a pattern.

This news comes as House Republicans, tired of leaks and finding out about things in the legacy media, are moving to find both the FBI and the DOJ in contempt of Congress for failing to provide requested material:
U.S. House Republicans are moving to bring a Contempt of Congress resolution against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray for stonewalling the production material related to the Russia-Trump probes and other matters.

According to Bloomberg, House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes and other Republicans decided to move against Rosenstein and Wray after the New York Times reported Saturday about the removal of a top FBI official assigned to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of the alleged Russia-Trump election collusion had been removed from the investigation.

If it's hurtful to Team Trump, it gets leaked. If it's damaging to Team Hillary, it's treated like the gold at Fort Knox. That’s not really surprising in a probe where Michael Flynn gets dinged for making false statements to the FBI, the same crime committed by famous Russian colluder Martha Stewart, but Hillary Clinton is not. But then, Hillary was never put another oath in an interview for which no notes were taken, unlike former FBI Director James Comey’s meeting with President Trump. Comey did not attend that meeting, nor was a grand jury convened. And where are the Podesta indictments, pray tell?

Hillary Clinton's gut-wrenching day
2017-01-22
[CNN] It was not the Inauguration Day that Hillary Clinton
... former first lady, former secretary of state, former presidential candidate, sometimes described by her supporters as the smartest woman in the world, usually described by the rest of us as a crook...
imagined.

When the skies finally opened up on Friday and rain began to fall over the US Capitol, Clinton's turn to stand before the thousands gathered on the Mall and take the oath of office as the 45th president never came.

Instead, she remained seated with her husband, Bill Clinton
...former Democratic president of the U.S. Bill was the second U.S. president to be impeached, the first to deny that oral sex was sex, the first to have difficulty with the definition of is...
, by her side. And she watched a man whom she believes is fundamentally unfit to hold the highest office of the land get sworn in as her next president.

Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
's inauguration on Friday and the ceremonial passing of the baton by Barack Obama
I inhaled. That was the point...
crystalized before a watchful nation the deeply personal loss that Clinton had suffered in November.

For the former Democratic presidential nominee, the decision to attend Friday's ceremony was not an easy one.

Clinton anticipated that it would be painful for her to watch Trump become the next president, according to a former aide, but felt she had no choice but to attend given her role both as former first lady and Trump's challenger. It weighed on her, this aide added, that her presence symbolized the peaceful transition of power, regardless of her own emotions about the day.

The Clintons arrived on Capitol Hill shortly before the swearing-in. At the same time, the presidential motorcade was making its way down Pennsylvania Ave. towards the Capitol. In one car sat two men who had each taken away Clinton's dreams of becoming president -- Obama and Trump.

Clinton wore a white coat -- something she did often on the campaign trail to represent the color women wore during the suffrage movement. She and Bill Clinton were introduced to the inaugural stage by the announcer as "the 42nd president of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton, and the honorable Hillary Rodham Clinton."
... sometimes described as Deplorable, Irredeemable and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another William H. Seward ...

For Clinton's supporters, both were painful reminders of how close Clinton -- the first woman to clinch a major political party's nomination for president -- had come to becoming to the president of the United States.

With the exception of when she exchanged pleasantries with other dignitaries on the stage, Clinton, for the most part, appeared stoic.

Trump, with his former political opponent seated behind him, delivered an inaugural address reminiscent of his campaign speeches, vowing that the "forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer."

"This American carnage stops right here and stops right now," Trump said.

Former Philadelphia Congressman Chaka Fattah sentenced to 10 years in prison
2016-12-13
[PHILLY] Former U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah was sentenced to 10 years in prison Monday, one of the longest terms of incarceration ever imposed on a member of Congress convicted of federal corruption crimes.

Addressing the court, the West Philadelphia Democrat expressed regret for some of the decisions he had made and how his conviction had affected his co-defendants and constituents, but stopped short of fully acknowledging his guilt.

"The investigation and the trial has been the most disappointing event in my now 60-year life," he told U.S. District Judge Harvey Bartle III. "I've helped tens of millions of people and that has nothing to do with the fact that I have been found on the wrong side of these questions by a jury."

Bartle, however, called Fattah's crimes "astonishing" and "extremely serious" - especially for an elected official representing one of the poorest congressional districts in the country and one whose own income put him among the "1 percent." He ordered Fattah to report to begin serving his sentence Jan. 25.

"You abused the trust they placed in you time and time again," he said of the voters who elected Fattah 11 times to represent them in Congress. "Your flagrant behavior undermines the confidence of the citizenry in all public institutions."

Fattah's sentence fell below the 17 to 22 years recommended by federal prosecutors but remains the second-highest prison term ever received by a member of Congress - capped only by the 13 years former U.S. Rep. William Jefferson (D., La.) received in 2009 for soliciting millions of dollars in bribes.

"That's about as good as we could have expected," Fattah lawyer Albert S. Dandridge turned to tell a courtroom packed with supporters and family members moments after the sentence was imposed.

Judicial Watch: New Clinton Documents Raise Questions on Benghazi, Clinton Foundation
2016-03-23
[Judicial Watch] Washington, DC -- Two days after Benghazi attack, Libyan president sought meeting with Bill Clinton through Clinton Foundation event.

Judicial Watch today released 276 pages of internal State Department documents revealing that within two days of the deadly terrorist attack on Benghazi, Mohamed Yusuf al-Magariaf, the president of Libya’s National Congress, asked to participate in a Clinton Global Initiative function and "meet President Clinton." The meeting between the Libyan president and Bill Clinton had not previously been disclosed. The documents also show Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s staff coordinated with the Clinton Foundation’s staff to have her thank Clinton Global Initiative project sponsors for their "commitments" during a Foundation speech on September 25, 2009.

The Judicial Watch documents were obtained as a result of a federal court order in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed against the State Department on May 28, 2013, (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Department of State (No. 1:13-cv-00772)).

In September 13, 2012, al-Magariaf advisor Dr. Fathi Nuah wrote to the Clinton Foundation’s Director of Foreign Policy Amitabh Desai: "Dr. Almagariaf will be addressing the United Nations this September in New York as the Libyan Head of State, and he expressed a wish to meet President Clinton and to participate at the Clinton Global Initiative meeting for New York as well."

Four hours later, Desai emailed Hillary Clinton’s Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills asking, "Would USG [U.S. Government] have concerns about Libyan President being invited to CGI [Clinton Global Initiative]? Odd timing, I know." Mills emailed back: "We would not have issues."

Four days later, on September 17, Desai emailed Mills again, saying, The Libyan president is "asking for a meeting with WJC [William Jefferson Clinton] next week." Desai asked, "Would you recommend accepting or declining the WJC meeting request?"
No, no problem at all. Our team has constructed a clever diversion using an anti-Mohammed filmmaker by the name of Nakoula. You'll be learning more about him in the Sunday Talks. We're hoping to delay any in-country investigation of the events in Benghazi. Our damage control people are quite adept. The blow-back should be minimal.
The State Department apparently had no objection to the meeting, because on September 26, Desai emailed Mills, "He had a v good meeting with Libya ..." Hillary Clinton and al-Magariaf did not have a meeting until September 24.

An August 2009 email chain including Hillary Clinton’s then- Chief of Staff Huma Abedin, Mills, then-Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Jake Sullivan shows that the State Department coordinated with Clinton Foundation staff on how Mrs. Clinton to thank Foundation supporters/partners for their "commitments." Mills asks Desai for a "list of commitments during whole session so she can reference more than those just around her speech."

Slick Willie's secret "pass-through" company exposed.
2015-05-27
[Weekly Standard] Bill Clinton has a secret "pass-through" company named WJC, LLC. WJC, of course, is the former president's initials, William Jefferson Clinton.

"The newly released financial files on Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton's growing fortune omit a company with no apparent employees or assets that the former president has legally used to provide consulting and other services, but which demonstrates the complexity of the family's finances," the Associated Press reports.

"Because the company, WJC, LLC, has no financial assets, Hillary Clinton's campaign was not obligated to report its existence in her recent financial disclosure report, officials with Bill Clinton's private office and the Clinton campaign said. They were responding to questions by The Associated Press, which reviewed corporate documents.

"The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to provide private details of the former president's finances on the record, said the entity was a 'pass-through' company designed to channel payments to the former president."

Indeed, as the report details, Clinton's work for the consulting company Teneo, formed by a former close aide to the ex-president, went through WJC, LLC.

Dosvedanya, Holder: America's First Soviet Attorney General Steps Down
2014-09-26
Of all the malfeasances of William Jefferson Clinton the one that would have most justified a removal from office was not the Monica hijinks, even with the attendant lying under oath and absurd parsings of the word "is," but the pardoning of Marc Rich -- the billionaire international commodities trader and mammoth contributor to, er, Clinton. Luckily for Bill, this action occurred on the last day of his presidency, making anything like impeachment moot, even though it was an example of political corruption that would have made Boss Tweed envious.

...Until, on January 20, 2001, literally in the final minutes of his presidency, Rich was granted a pardon by Clinton, a pardon pushed through a reluctant judge on the determined "recommendation" of then-Deputy Attorney General Eric Holder.

Yes, that's the same Eric Holder who lectures us about race and calls Americans "cowards." In reality, he was a political bagman, a low rent consigliere whose unquestioning obedience to power was evidently appreciated by Barack Obama and rewarded with the full position of attorney general. Obama knew what he was getting for our number one law enforcement official. With that background, no wonder Holder investigates nothing, leaving "Fast & Furious," the IRS, Benghazi, all the scandals, untouched, stonewalled or deliberately obfuscated. He was chosen to be a "Good German" and he was one. He spent most of his time inveighing against what he perceived to be racial injustice.

Now I have a theory about the etiology of Holder's fixation on race. When you know deep down you're a dishonest person, when you have had to eat the bitter pill of your own corruption who knows how many times (even Clinton finally admitted that he had gone too far pardoning Rich and damaged his own reputation), you have to invent a narrative for yourself to justify your activities. So over may years Holder developed what I have called elsewhere a "nostalgia for racism." No matter that racism was diminishing in our culture, he had to keep racism alive, believe it was alive. If racism were going away, he would no longer have a raison d'tre, an excuse for his biased behavior, an excuse, as it turned out, to go beyond the law, act unilaterally and punish political enemies.

Bubba, the weenie and a New York minute
2013-05-25
[WASHINGTONTIMES] Just when Bubba and the missus get an opportunity to dispense experience unique in American politics, and could tutor two old friends who need help, they retire to the companionable solitude of the family hearth to reflect on the Scriptures and to bask in the piety of each other.
"There ain't nobody but me more pious than you are, Hillary, babe!"
"I'm way more pious than you are, Bubs!"

For a New York minute
"Whoa! What was that?"
"Dunno. Went past too fast for me to see!"

it seemed like a return of yesteryear, with old times there not forgotten.
"Look away, look away, look away, Dixieland!"
Bubba was back, and Hillary had him. Then,
"I looked around me, and..."
pffftt! The minute was gone, and so were Bubba on the stump and the missus dreamy-eyed at his side.
"Which way did they go, George? Which way did they go?"
"Don't as me. I'm a Publican!"

Anthony Weiner, the Gotham flasher who quit Congress when his night job, starring in his own show on his own private porn channel ("the stars come out at night in the Twitterhood"), closed out of town. Now he's running for mayor of New York City to test F. Scott Fitzgerald's observation that there are no second acts in American lives.
He's actually got the name recognition over that other person or two running, whoever they hell they are. And nobody's blown up the Empire State Building or the subway, so nobody's gonna vote for a Republican.
Fitzgerald thought you get an opening and a closing, with nothing between. The flasher had his opening and closing, and his second act is lost in the clutter of memories and might-have-beens.
"Mem'ries! All alone with my mem'ries!"
"Tony, shut up!"
"Yes, Huma. Do we have any more gherkins?"

Bubba and the missus got their second acts, each one verging on a boffo performance.
The Heroine of Tuzla becomes the Heroine of Benghazi. Bill just waited for Short Attention Span Syndrome to kick in and he's suddenly an elder statesman. Three years is the space from the Paleozoic to last week in politix, so Hillary stands a good chance at the White House.
They could teach Mr. Weiner a thing or two when he needs help most.
"First, don't be an arrogant bastard..."
"Who the hell are you calling an arrogant bastard?"

Who better than Bubba to tell him how to profit from disgrace. Who better than Hillary to tutor Huma Abedin, the Weiner missus, on how to wring out of the shadow of disgrace the last ounce of sympathy, pity and compassion that is the wronged wife's due. If Bubba could do it, why not the weenie?
Because he doesn't have the sheer shamelessness as Bubs? No. That's not it. One's just as bad as the other. But Huma's no Hillary. And the weenie's no William Jefferson Bub.
The Weiners and the Clintons have more in common than marital malarkey. Like Anthony Weiner, the Clintons were once left for dead on the side of the road in New Hampshire, and with sheer determination and a sufficiency of gall Bubba recast himself as "the comeback kid."
[BUMP!]
"A speedbump? Here?"
"Nah. That was Jerry Brown."
[BUMP!]
"That hadda be a speedbump!"
"Paul Tsongas."
"Who?"

Mr. Weiner starts with advantages Bubba didn't have; the Clintons borrowed a million dollars from a Republican friend in Little Rock to keep the campaign afloat in the storm. Mr. Weiner has nearly $5 million already banked and perhaps another million is available in public matching money, together with the IOUs collected over 14 years in Congress.
"Oh, yuck."
"You're right, honey. Let's go watch them make sausage instead. It's more appetizing, and they give you free samples where it's done."

He's the big mule in a crowded feed lot, dominated by the speaker of the City Council (aldermen with a speaker?),
Somebody gotta be first at the trough...
but it's a field consisting mostly of "others." A new poll, taken by Quinnipiac University, puts the speaker, Christine Quinn, at 25 percent and Mr. Weiner at 15 percent, a gap not as large as it seems. If somebody doesn't get 40 percent there will be a second round. A run-off is a new election.
And who has the name recognition? You don't have somebody on every third street corner selling "quinns."
Mr. Weiner understands, as Bubba did in his day, that "this is going to be a difficult slog, and I'm going to have to have a lot of difficult conversations with people along the way."
"This is my associate, Angelo."
"Wouldja like ta make a donation?"
"Good Gawd! Something that big talks! Here, take all I've got!"

He'll have to endure a lot of cheap jokes, too, just like Bubba. Double-entendres will lie in wait every time he speaks. "I hope at least some of my ideas penetrate," he told commuters at a subway stop Thursday, "and it changes some of the conversations."
He's gotta put up with that, if he wants to be on top.
He, like the Clintons, must expect the unexpected.
At least his first name's not Richard...
Big-haired women seemed to pop out from the potted plants with an entertaining tale to tell everywhere Bubba went, and Mr. Weiner conceded (wisely, no doubt) Thursday that more lewd photographs may lurk in the Twitterhood. "It is what it is," he said, leaving "it" as vague as Bubba left "is."
"'I did not do 'it' with that woman, Miz Whatsername.'"
"People may decide they want to come forward and say, 'here's another email that I got,' or another photo.
"Don't look, Ethel!"
I'm certainly not going to do that. So people may hear things that are true, they may hear things that are not true, but I'm going to keep being focused on issues that are important to New York City."
"Like who's got the bigger Schwanzstücker, Weiner or Quinn?"
"She ain't got no Schwanzstücker."
"I rest my case."
"Cheeze. I didn't know you was a lawyer, too. You got my vote!"

And so forth and so on. This was right out of Bubba's playbook.
"Yeah. Stick with the issues! Ignore that thing hanging outta my fly!"
Mr. Weiner is not getting much help from any of the usual liberal suspects, who mostly want to lie low and keep quiet. Gov. Andrew Sonny Cuomo calls the prospect of Mr. Weiner winning a "shame on us."
If Mr. Weenie wins Andrew will be his good friend, working together for the Good of the Country.
The crowded field includes a prominent black,
"I wanna be Noo York's first black mayor!"
"What was David Dinkins?"

and the speaker of the City Council is, she wants everybody to know, a lesbian.
"I wanna be Noo York's first lesbian mayor!"
"What was John V. Lindsay?"

These are constituencies a New York pol dare not let anyone else bow deeper to. But the boy needs help, and Bubba, who performed the marriage rites when a suitable rabbi, priest or imam couldn't be found, always thinks only of others. He's famous for that. But not this time.

Weiner's Bun Didn't Disclose Consulting Work She Did While at State
2013-05-17
The State Department, under Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, created an arrangement for her longtime aide and confidante Huma Abedin to work for private clients as a consultant while serving as a top adviser in the department.

Ms. Abedin did not disclose the arrangement -- or how much income she earned -- on her financial report. It requires officials to make public any significant sources of income. An adviser to Mrs. Clinton, Philippe Reines, said that Ms. Abedin was not obligated to do so.
Really? Why not? Did Mr. Reines fail to explain or did the reporter conveniently forget to ask the next most obvious follow-up question?
The disclosure of the agreement that Ms. Abedin made with the State Department comes as her husband, former Representative Anthony D. Weiner, a Democrat, prepares for a mayoral run in New York City.

Ms. Abedin declined a request for an interview,
"No comment. Go away. Infidel."
but the picture that emerges from interviews and records suggests a situation where the lines were blurred between Ms. Abedin's work in the high echelons of one of the government's most sensitive executive departments and her role as a Clinton family insider.
Blurred? Damned well erased and shoved into the usual Clinton black hole...
While continuing her work at the State Department, in the latter half of 2012, she also worked for Teneo, a strategic consulting firm, which was founded by Doug Band, a former adviser to President Bill Clinton. Teneo has advised corporate clients like Coca-Cola and MF Global, the collapsed brokerage firm run by Jon S. Corzine, a former governor of New Jersey.
My what a tangled web we weave. It's a fair number of the usual suspects all conveniently -- again -- in one place...
At the same time, Ms. Abedin served as a consultant to the William Jefferson Clinton Foundation and worked in a personal capacity for Mrs. Clinton as she prepared to transition out of her job as secretary of state.
How many hours a week did Huma work for State in the end? I can't imagine it was that much with all these other arrangements...
It is not clear what role Mrs. Clinton played in approving the arrangement.
Did the reporter ask?
Some good-government groups have been critical of such situations, saying public employees' loyalty should be solely to the public and their government work, rather than private firms and figures.
What an old-timey view. After all, IRS employees are perfectly capable of doing political work while on the public dime...
Ms. Abedin reached her new working arrangement in June 2012, when she returned from maternity leave, quietly leaving her position as deputy chief of staff and becoming a special government employee, which is essentially a consultant. A State Department official said that change freed her from the requirement that she disclose her private earnings for the rest of the year on her financial disclosure forms.
And that was all around the time that she and Weiner-boy needed money, since he was out of a job and was still radioactive.
Still, during that period, she continued to be identified publicly in news reports as Mrs. Clinton's deputy chief of staff.
It was an easy mistake...
Officials in the State Department and Clinton circles seem especially sensitive about the arrangement, and no one would speak about it on the record.
"Go away or you'll be audited."
Earlier this month, Mr. Weiner released a copy of the couple's 2012 tax return showing that they had income of more than $490,000.
How much of that was the consulting gigs?
But when pressed on the matter, Mr. Weiner declined to discuss what, if any, income Ms. Abedin derived from work done outside the State Department.

An associate of Ms. Abedin's said on Thursday that the arrangement allowed her to work from her home in New York, rather than at the State Department's headquarters in Washington, and to spend more time with her child and husband. She earned approximately $135,000 from the department during 2012.
Nice work if you can get it...
It is not clear how much Ms. Abedin was paid by Mrs. Clinton privately, or from the Clinton Foundation and Teneo. The Clintons have described Ms. Abedin as a surrogate daughter to them.
Must .. resist .. temptation...
Ms. Abedin, who is one of Mrs. Clinton's most trusted advisers, ended her consulting practice in March, when she moved on to become director of Mrs. Clinton's transition office.
When Hilde declares for the presidency Huma will move into a consulting gig at the campaign office. It's all seamless .. and seamy...
Melanie Sloane, executive director of CREW, an ethics watchdog group, said the arrangement that Ms. Abedin had seemed unusual. "If she was being held out as a deputy chief of staff, it would be highly unusual for her to be a part-time employee or a consultant," she said. "Being a deputy chief of staff at the State Department is generally considered more than a full-time job."

CRUSH THEM

Good last-day call to arms by Michael Walsh in National Review Online
Conservatives have a rare opportunity tomorrow to do something they signally failed to do in the landslide elections of 1972 and 1984: finish the job. Nixon's victory was vitiated by Watergate and quickly revenged by Woodward and Bernstein, leading to his replacement in 1974 by Jerry Ford, a man who exactly nobody thought was qualified to be president of the United States, probably including Ford himself. Ford led to Jimmy Carter, whose ineptitude and weakness in turn lead to Ronald Reagan, who swept Carter away in 1980 and then smashed Walter Mondale and the Democrats to powder in 1984.

And then, having won a famous victory, conservatives went home and left it to the establishment GOP in the form of another man who never should have been president, George H. W. Bush, to fritter away the fruits of ideological victory and be supplanted by Bill Clinton.

In retrospect, of course, William Jefferson Blythe III was Pericles of Athens compared to Barack Obama, who far more than Clinton has revealed the true face of contemporary American left-liberalism in all its coercive ugliness: a blizzard of executive orders; the deployment of the regulatory agencies that have (in the words of the Declaration of Independence) "sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance"; and the naked Marxist appeals to race and class envy. The most anti-American of American presidents has run the most un-American of campaigns.

And that, by rights, should be it. That it's not explains the alarm of conservatives whose view of patriotism is that they love their country as it is, not as they wish it might someday be. From Day One of the Obama administration, real conservatives understood the explicit threat of "fundamental change," whose meaning can now be clearly discerned in Obama's "revenge" remark; for the Left, "revenge" is precisely what this election is all about. For them and their voting-bloc constituents, it's payback time: payback for slavery and segregation; payback for poverty; payback for foreign wars; payback for restrictive immigration laws. They've long used the goals of the civil-rights movement -- which after all was directed precisely against Democrats -- and the Vietnam-era "anti-war" movement -- which arose in opposition to the foreign policy of the Democrats -- as wedges with which to crack the larger social structure and now, so close to realizing the ultimate expression of "critical theory" -- that everything about America stinks -- they and their media allies are doing their best to swing one last election for Obama.
Emphasis mine-RbR. Folks, this is what's at stake here. If the communists (I absolutely REFUSE to call these bastards by the same party name shared by Harry Truman, Jack Kennedy, Scoop Jackson and Zell Miller) win this one, they win the whole enchilada...everything they've patiently worked for over almost fifty years as they slowly but steadily gnawed on the timbers and frameworks that kept our country standing upright.
It's not enough for the GOP to win tomorrow. It needs to win big, a win so convincing that even the Left won't be able to explain it away. The definition of victory in war is not a 50.1 percent majority that allows the other side to keep fighting -- it's the battleship Missouri, on whose deck the losing side signs articles of capitulation. The modern Left -- the unholy spawn of '30s gangland and '60s academic Marxism -- must be forced to its knees in surrender.
God, I absolutely LOVE Walsh's description of "the modern Left.". But I think maybe he's placing a little too much emphasis on this one day. If the good guys win, it may still be by a small margin - and the bad guys may still end up holding the Senate. But assuming we win...well, we can't think of it as an Appomattox or a Tokyo Bay. At best, it'll be our Trenton - the first real victory for the good guys in what's likely to be a very long war. There's a whole culture to take back. One school-board seat, one professorship, one op-ed, one screenplay at at time.
