'Recommendations for concluding peace in Ukraine' |
2025-04-20 |
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited Text taken from the Telegram channel of designersmil Commentary by Russian military journalist is in italics. [ColonelCassad] The US war lobbyists who provoked the conflict and profited from it are now developing various recommendations for Trump on how to conclude a truce. ![]() A document with such recommendations was prepared by a security group at the US Ukraine Foundation. The group includes well-known American experts: former ambassadors (John Herbst, Kurt Volker, Sandy Vershbow), generals (Wesley Clark, Ben Hodges, Philip Breedlove), as well as high-ranking officials from the Pentagon and the State Department. Their analysis is based on the current position of the US administration and assumes that Ukraine's membership in NATO will not occur in the next 20 years. Instead, a security system is proposed that includes the deployment of European troops in Ukraine. The authors of the document are trying to impose on the White House the idea that without strict deterrence, Moscow will violate the agreements. To prevent this, it is proposed to create a deterrent force, including two reinforced divisions with aviation, air defense and artillery along the front line. An alternative is to deploy one mobile division in the rear to quickly respond to possible breakthroughs. Particular attention is paid to the rules of engagement: commanders should have the right to act without lengthy approvals, and the response to any provocations should be immediate and tough, so as to exclude the benefit of violating the ceasefire. To strengthen protection, it is proposed to introduce a no-fly zone over western Ukraine with the support of NATO aircraft. The US role is seen as providing military and intelligence support, including the supply of Patriot air defense systems and the readiness to carry out airstrikes in the event of attacks on allied forces. The possibility of a symbolic presence of American forces to enhance the deterrent effect is also being considered. An important place is given to Turkey, which could participate in the maritime component, monitoring the Black Sea and helping with mine clearance, as well as provide ground troops. The document warns that if only a ceasefire is achieved, rather than a full-fledged peace, international forces may remain in Ukraine for decades, as happened in Korea after 1953. Therefore, the principle of "zero tolerance" for violations should be in effect from the very beginning. 🔹The document traditionally pursues the goal of putting pressure on our country and provoking a major conflict in order to harm Russia. We attach this opus below for study by colleagues and specialists. We are sure that a group of Russophobes from the network of friends of Ukraine has already sent it to the State Department and the Trump administration It is worth recalling that Russia considers any deployment of Western troops in Ukraine unacceptable. Accordingly, in the current reality, proposals for deployment are made primarily because they are unacceptable to the Kremlin, and therefore, this prevents the conclusion of a deal between Trump and Putin in Ukraine. There is no hint of peacekeeping here. |

European armies are preparing to invade Russia |
2023-01-24 |
Direct Transaltion via Google Translate. Edited. by Victoria Nikiforova [RIA] The capture of Soledar by Russian troops and a series of small but important victories in the western direction put our strategic opponents in front of an existential choice: either to surrender or get involved in a war against Russia to the point of complete destruction in earnest, without hiding behind excuses like "we are fighting here, we are not fighting here, Ukraine is here we help, and here we wrap the fish." The choice is yours, of course. ![]() Individual humanitarians still allow themselves to whimper. “By sending tanks to Ukraine, we can turn Europe into one big radioactive grave,” mourns Peter Hitchens in the British Daily Mail . “Why did Britain sign up for this at all?” However, it is the voice of one crying in the wilderness. Britain sends tanks to Ukraine. The Czech Republic sends tanks to Ukraine. The US is loudly saying that it is about to send tanks to Ukraine. And only Germany is still trying to resist. “As for the Leopard tanks, we cannot yet say when the decision will be made and what it will be,” Boris Pistorius, the newly appointed Minister of Defense of the country, has just mumbled on the sidelines of the meeting in Ramstein. For this conciliatory position, the alliance allies gave Olaf Scholz a demonstrative flogging. The Baltic limitrophes spoke out in the sense that Germany should not hide behind other NATO members . American General Wesley Clark , who killed the Vietnamese and Yugoslavs , said that Ukraine should immediately be given all possible heavy weapons: "Putin <...> is planning a new offensive. <...> Ten tanks? Ukraine needs three hundred, five hundred tanks." Finally, the wounds of the German chancellor were sprinkled with salt by the British partners. "Insecure, unimaginative leaders like Olaf Scholz are being swept away by a wave of general disgust," said Guardian columnist Simon Tisdall. Members of the alliance demonstrate high relations to us, of course. What caused the hysteria in the ranks of our opponents? Firstly, the fear of the steady advance of Russian troops and the inevitable defeat of the Armed Forces of Ukraine . Secondly, by the realization of the sad fact that they are running out of not only 155mm shells, but also fighting Ukrainians, and a new one is unlikely to help here - the sixth or seventh already in a row? - mobilization in Ukraine. This means that NATO countries must either capitulate or get involved in the Ukrainian conflict in an adult way. The same Simon Tisdall suggests that Europe "fight with everything it has, even with the risk that the national armies of European countries will be directly involved in the conflict." Notice that there is not a single mention of the NATO bloc here - only national armies. The fact is that in the United States today they are doing everything to blur and blurt out the fifth article of the Charter of the alliance, if only to ensure themselves the opportunity to avoid direct confrontation with Russia and steer the conflict from across the ocean, drinking mojitos by the pool, while European cannon fodder will die where something near Kupyansk. The British Guardian tells Washington how to elegantly evade responsibility. Let the “national armies” of European countries invade Ukraine, then the White House will not have to save NATO allies. Translated into Russian, this means that the Anglo-Saxons have already fought to the last Ukrainian and are now planning to fight to the last European. Indeed, why feel sorry for them? However, it is difficult to imagine a German burgher or a French bourgeois who suddenly, for some reason, goes to the Eastern Front to defend Ukrainian independence. The population there, of course, is pretty fooled by propaganda, but still shedding blood for Zelensky is a completely unconventional way of suicide. Europe is not yet ready for this. Therefore, the Anglo-Saxon elites are pushing away the annoying mantras about helping the Ukrainians, and openly saying that the Europeans should do away with Russia. "The Russian Empire must die," Ann Applebaum, a well-known American journalist and prominent expert on the Gulag, recently formulated . Thank you for your frankness, we already, in general, understand everything. The bottom line here is that Ukrainian independence as a trophy of Europeans, of course, is not of interest. But if you convince them that we are talking about the defeat and plunder of Russia, then it will be a completely different matter. On the ruins of the Soviet Union, the EU elites feasted for a decade. The crumbs from the geopolitical pie that Brussels shared with Washington were also given to ordinary people. Up until 1991, the European Union was not a very wealthy and not very confident entity on the map. Since the 90s, he has gone up. Old Europe ruthlessly milked the post-Soviet borderlands and squeezed all the juice out of the countries of the former Warsaw Pact. They relied on a shock economy, degradation, depopulation, and for their own there was a strong euro, strong economic growth, cheap loans and all the delights of consumerism. Now this feast of the winners has ended - abruptly and mercilessly. The only hope to renew it is the robbery of Russia. To do this, she must be defeated on the battlefield. This is the carrot that their Anglo-Saxon friends hang in front of the Europeans. For themselves, they have chosen the role of managing the conflict, but the citizens of the EU will have to experience this conflict in their own skin. A separate carrot is reserved for Poland , Washington's favorite wife in the European harem. Citizens there are invited to die in order to return the Eastern Kresy, the western regions of Ukraine, to the country. However, with the open intervention of the European military in the conflict in Ukraine, the risk of a nuclear strike immediately arises. How to deal with it? The population of both the US and Europe is not alien to the natural human fear of nuclear war. Jeremy Corbyn in Britain, Elon Musk and Donald Trump in the States even risk voicing this fear publicly. It is he who slows down the flywheel of the conflict. Simon Tisdall suggests European cannon fodder not to be afraid. All the same, they say, "military escalation is inevitable." Why is it inevitable? But because the West supplies weapons to Ukraine and plans to supply even more advanced ones: tanks, air defense systems, aircraft. The idea of "closing the sky over Ukraine" constantly pops up. That is, Washington itself stirs up the conflict, and then, as if mocking its allies, shrugged it off: you see, they say, escalation is inevitable, go to the front. And as for the fifth article - as they say, "we'll see." Striking, of course, is the cynicism of these figures, who, sitting in their comfortable offices, program the Europeans for war and make no secret of the fact that they are leaving them to certain death. "Let's not let fear influence our decisions," Ann Applebaum tries . "The less we show our fear, the more we will scare Putin." So far, however, the opposite has been observed. Trying to confront Russia, NATO allies do their best to hide behind each other's backs, pushing the poorest and most stupid to the front lines. First pushed out to fight the Ukrainians. Now they are running out, and Poles are being pushed to replace them. The Poles are resisting and trying to recruit those Ukrainians who fled to Europe to the front. The Baltic limitrophes are hiding behind the backs of the Poles. The Germans are sitting behind the backs of the Baltic states. In the rear, the French are waiting for the Germans, followed by the Italians, Spaniards and tutti quanti. Cowardly vassals are generously rewarded with kicks from the boots of Uncle Sam, who is freely spread out in a deck chair on the other side of the Atlantic. And what caused all this fuss? Yes, fear, of course. Our strategic opponents in horror are pushing each other under a possible response from Russia and are frantically trying to participate in the conflict without running into retribution. For the Europeans, even two deterrent factors work here: not only Russian nuclear weapons, but also an impressive historical memory. Do not count how many of their ancestors, who went to conquer and plunder Russia, rest today in our vast expanses. As Pushkin noted, there will be enough space for new conquerors - "among coffins that are not alien to them," so to speak. |

Zakharova recalls NATO statements after the airstrikes on Yugoslavia |
2022-12-01 |
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited [REGNUM] In 1999, NATO destroyed Yugoslavia. Hiding behind the refusal to withdraw troops from Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the “execution of peaceful Albanians” falsified by Kosovo separatists, a number of Serbian cities were bombed - bombs fell on industrial enterprises, residential areas, military installations. On November 30, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova refreshed the memory of Western politicians about NATO strikes on Yugoslav energy facilities, saying that in 1999 the alliance purposefully attacked the republic's infrastructure. Dedicating a message in her telegram channel to NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg , EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Borrell , as well as White House staff, she quoted from a briefing by NATO Press Secretary Jamie Shea, held in Brussels on May 25, 1999. Then, answering the question why the forces of the alliance are depriving Yugoslavia of electricity and water supply on a huge scale, if, according to the statements of the bloc, NATO " strikes only on military targets," the politician said that he did not care about the problems of the Serbian people. "If Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic really wants his citizens to have water and electricity, all he has to do is accept NATO terms. Until he does, we will continue to attack targets that supply his army with electricity," Shea said at the time at a briefing. Recall that earlier, then Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that people who do not condemn NATO war crimes in Yugoslavia in 1999 have no right to talk about what is happening now in Ukraine. In his March speech, Vulin recalled the creator of the expression "collateral damage" - the former NATO representative Jamie Shea and the "leader of the killers" - the former Supreme Commander of the Allied Armed Forces of NATO in Europe, Wesley Clark . "When Wesley Clarke and Jamie Shea, the creator of the phrase “collateral damage” that has been used to explain the deaths of dozens of our children, begin to explain that the killing of Serbs in NATO aggression is as humane as it needs to be, then it is clear that their every appeal to international law is cynicism. and lies," said Alexander Vulin. According to him, those who are trying to create a false state of Kosovo on the territory of Serbia have no right to talk about the territorial integrity of any other country. The one who leads the anti-Russian hysteria has no right to tell Serbia how to think ,” Vulin added. As REGNUM reported , the NATO military operation "Allied Force" against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia began on May 24, 1999. At that time, Yugoslavia, already disintegrated into several "independent" states, did not want to fully follow the path of reforms imposed by the West. The official reason was the refusal of President Milosevic to withdraw troops from Kosovo and Metohija and the "execution of peaceful Albanians" in the village of Rachak, falsified by Kosovo separatists. The capital of Yugoslavia, Belgrade, and a number of cities in Serbia were bombed - bombs fell on industrial enterprises, residential areas, military installations. Cruise missiles "Tomahawk" hit the territory of Yugoslavia from American cruisers from the Adriatic Sea. And this is in Europe in the 20th century, in a country where the Winter Olympics of 1984 were recently held, which brought together a record number of participants. The air forces of the USA, Germany, France, England, Italy, Holland, Turkey, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Norway and Portugal took part in the raids and bombing of Serbian cities. Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania have provided NATO with their territory and airspace. During the hostilities, NATO aircraft made 35,219 sorties, using 23,000 bombs and missiles against the Serbs, including cluster bombs and depleted uranium bombs. 238 sea-launched cruise missiles were fired from ships and submarines. Serbia's losses are irreparable. First of all, this is the civilian population - more than 2,000 killed, tens of thousands of wounded, hypocritically called by the West "collateral losses." As REGNUM reported earlier, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Western countries want to resolve the Kosovo issue as soon as possible, as the Kosovo precedent is increasingly mentioned in international politics. According to him, "the West left Serbia no chance." |

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: May 14th, 2022 |
2022-05-15 |
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. [Korrespondent] 23:59 Kalush Orchestra's call to save Mariupol and Azovstal can cost the group victory in the competition and even threaten disqualification. Producer and presenter Igor Kondratyuk said that this is a gross violation of the Eurovision rules. ![]() Meanwhile, some artists use the colors of the Ukrainian flag in their performances at the song contest. And Google statistics show a sharp surge in requests for "Mariupol" and "Azovstal". 23:45 Icelandic group Systur ended their performance in the Eurovision final with the phrase "Peace for Ukraine". 23:28 The director of the Kalush Orchestra group, Mykola Kucheryavy, said earlier today that the group was banned from making a performance with an emphasis on the war: “At first, our number had a fairly strong and clear expression about the war in Ukraine and a clear message. But we were banned, referring to the politicization of our numbers". 23:25 Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said that Russia would not capitulate: "We speak firmly and clearly and are unambiguously sure of this, at least the Russian diplomats working here - there will be no such capitulation, there never will be." According to him, all the goals that Putin set for the RF Armed Forces "will be fulfilled." 23:16 The leader of the Ukrainian group Kalush Orchestra, after his performance in the Eurovision final, addressed the world community from the stage: "Please help Azovstal, help Mariupol right now!" 23:14 The Luhansk region is gradually turning into a second Mariupol - there is no electricity, water, gas and mobile communications in the region, Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova said. She noted that the Russian military continues to strike at the important Lisichansk-Bakhmut highway. This is the only road that can be used to evacuate people and bring in humanitarian supplies. More than 40,000 residents have not been evacuated. The situation in the region is getting worse day by day. 23:07 Zelensky said in an evening address that now support for Ukraine - primarily with weapons - means working to prevent global hunger: "The sooner we liberate our land and guarantee Ukraine's security, the sooner the normal state of the food market can be restored." The president also acknowledged that the situation in Donbas remains very difficult: "Russian troops are still trying to show at least some kind of victory. On the 80th day of a full-scale invasion, it looks especially crazy, but they do not stop all these attempts." 22:55 German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock is skeptical about the possibility of transferring frozen Russian assets to Ukraine: "Access to frozen funds from a legal point of view is not an easy task at all." 22:52 The G7 foreign ministers sent an "unusually tough" message to Beijing. They called for peace and stability in Taiwan and urged "strongly urge Russia to stop its military aggression against Ukraine," writes Politico. "We urge China not to assist Russia in its war of aggression against Ukraine, not to undermine the sanctions imposed on Russia for its attack on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, not to justify Russia's actions in Ukraine, and to refrain from engaging in information manipulation and disinformation," it said. in the message. 22:23 Ukraine has lost about 23% of its railway network, said Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov. According to him, 6,300 km of main tracks were lost, 23,573 km of roads were damaged, 289 automobile and 41 railway bridges were damaged. 22:21 The occupiers are preparing to cross the Seversky Donets River in Belogorovka again, said the head of the Luhansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai. “Some idiots understood why they were being sent there, and the whole battalion refused to go on the attack. But the “fresh one” will soon come up. 2.5 thousand units of heavy equipment are already moving towards us from the previously occupied territories. ", he wrote. Gaidai also said that in the occupied Rubizhne, medical equipment is being stolen by the chief collaborator doctor Eduard Kravchenko together with the Kadyrovites. 22:13 NATO countries are ready to support Ukraine in its opposition to Russian aggression until the victory of Ukrainian troops, Slovak Foreign Minister Ivan Korchok said before the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Alliance countries in Berlin. He stressed that Russia had already lost the political part of this war. The leadership of the Russian Federation failed to achieve the desired results and significantly worsened the situation of their country. 21:34 The head of the Lugansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai said that local residents are being massively taken out of Popasna to the occupied territories in order to mobilize and force them to fight against Ukraine. There is information that the occupiers are beginning to mobilize without a medical examination, besides, women will also be sent to war. 21:22 The Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing for two large offensives of the Russian Federation - on Severodonetsk and on the Lisichansk-Bakhmut highway from Popasna and Belogorovka, the head of the Lugansk OVA, Sergei Gaidai, said on the air of the telethon. He explained that the Russians need the regional center "for show", and the road - to cut off the region from communication with other regions, that is, to surround it. To ensure this offensive, 2.5 thousand units of enemy equipment are sent to the region. 21:17 Kiev advises the Russian regime not to interfere in the affairs of Ukraine on the way to European integration, Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleg Nikolenko said in a commentary to the UP: "Russia has not yet reached historical development in order to reflect on European values. For Ukraine, values are freedom, democracy, respect for human rights, the rule of law. All the things for which Ukrainians are now defending their land from Russian aggression." According to him, the "Russian world" is based on the suppression of its own population, depriving them of any rights and freedoms, enriching the ruling elite: "Therefore, let the Russian regime not stick its nose into the European integration of Ukraine, but go about its own business." 20:55 The G7 countries have decided not to impose sanctions against Russia that will affect the export of agricultural products to developing countries. 20:42 Turkey has proposed a sea evacuation of the wounded Azovstal fighters," Erdogan's adviser Ibrahim Kalin said. According to the plan, the evacuees will be transported by land to the port of Berdyansk, and the Turkish ship will take them across the Black Sea to Istanbul. The Turkish presidential adviser discussed this proposal with Zelensky in Kiev two weeks ago, but at the moment Moscow has not agreed to it, writes Reuters. 20:36 Zelensky signed a law banning the activities of pro-Russian parties in Ukraine. 20:33 Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that "the people are asking the country's leadership to block the entry of Finland and Sweden into NATO" because of their support for the Kurdistan Workers' Party. The Minister added that Ankara is ready to discuss this issue with its allies in the Alliance. 20:27 Medvedev said that Russia "does not care about the non-recognition of the new borders by the G7, the true will of the people living there is important. Do not forget the Kosovo precedent, Western friends." He also added that the members of the G7 "forgot to say about the inevitable use by Russia of strategic nuclear forces in the conflict and the possible execution of Ukrainian nationalists at the Execution Ground of Red Square through quartering." 19:49 German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock said that Russia's actions cause interruptions in the supply of grain, a strong rise in prices. This is a deliberately chosen tool in a hybrid war, she stressed. 19:41 The command of the Pacific Fleet received the task to urgently form a BTG from 200 military personnel from the entire fleet for further dispatch to the territory of Ukraine, journalist Roman Tsymbalyuk said. According to him, the command of the fleet decided to select for the new unit mainly sailors from ships, submarines and fleet support units. The unit is planned to be assembled on the basis of the 40th Separate Marine Brigade (military unit 10103, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky). After the selection of the required number of military personnel, the BTG is planned to be immediately sent to reinforce the forces of the Eastern Military District on the territory of Ukraine. "The command decided not to bother with the preparation and organization of the coherence of the unit, because they do not want to anger the high command with the untimely execution of the order," the journalist writes. 19:25 The mayor of Kramatorsk Alexander Goncharenko warned that gas could completely disappear in the Donetsk region, and advised to buy electric stoves. This is due to the stoppage of gas transit through stations in the recently occupied territory of the Luhansk region. 18:59 Near Kharkov, Russian troops have concentrated their efforts on countering the Ukrainian counteroffensive towards the border and the safety of their supply lines in the north and east of the city, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports. The enemy is also preparing for an attack on Severodonetsk, Soledar and Bakhmut - up to two battalion tactical groups have been moved there. The enemy has a partial success in the offensive in the Avdiivka area. According to the General Staff, the armed forces of Pridnestrovie have been transferred from combat to normal operation. On the island of the Serpent, the enemy is trying to increase its military presence, strengthens the air defense system. 18:55 Two warships of the Russian Federation are currently on duty in the Odessa water area, the rest have gone to bases in the Crimea, OK Pivden reports. The day before it was reported that there were four ships and two submarines of the Russian Federation with more than 30 Caliber cruise missiles in the Black Sea. 18:52 In the south of Portugal, the house of Roman Abramovich worth 10 million euros was arrested, the local newspaper Publico writes. In mid-February, Millhouse Views LLC, owned by Abramovich's investment holding, tried to sell the house. 18:50 In the center of Sevastopol, the invaders opened a photo exhibition called Through the Eyes of Donbass , which presents photographs of the destroyed Mariupol, which was allegedly shelled by the Ukrainian army. 18:44 The Armed Forces of Ukraine pushed the Russian army to the border in the Kharkiv region, thereby cutting off one of the main supply lines for the Russians in Izyum. The turning point in the Russian-Ukrainian war is approaching, according to British expert Mike Martin. According to him, during the last week a culmination began at the front: Russian forces switched from offensive to defensive, and vice versa - the Armed Forces of Ukraine switched from defense to offensive. "This trend is especially noticeable in two regions - Kharkiv and Kherson. In particular, in the latter, the Ukrainians pushed the enemy back into the city, which will complicate the annexation of the region planned by Russia," Martin explained. 18:42 New Hungarian President Katalina Novak condemned Putin's aggression and supported Ukraine's accession to the EU: "We condemn Putin's aggression, an armed attack on a sovereign state. We will forever say no to all efforts to restore the Soviet Union. We Hungarians want peace here and in neighboring countries, we want peace, not war. We demand the investigation and punishment of war crimes." The role of the president in Hungary is predominantly ceremonial, and Novak is a representative of the ruling Fidesz party, also represented by Viktor Orban. 18:34 G7 countries do not recognize changes in the borders of Ukraine and will "support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine - including Crimea - and all states," said German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock. The G7 also called on Minsk to "stop allowing Russian aggression and comply with its international obligations." 18:20 Adviser to the Mayor of Mariupol, Petr Andryushchenko, said that a large convoy of cars with Mariupol residents (from 500 to 1,000 cars) that had been waiting for a pass for more than three days was finally allowed into Zaporozhye. 18:18 Finland is ready for Russia's possible actions in connection with the country's accession to NATO, said the Minister of State Property and Relations with the EU, Tytti Tuppurainen. According to her, the time has come for Finland to "acquire allies and get more partners", but at the same time she "does not intend to provoke anyone." 18:09 Zaluzhny showed how American howitzers work in Ukraine: 17:56 The authorities of the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation reported that local residents on behalf of the Ministry of Emergency Situations receive SMS about the need to evacuate from the border areas. The Ministry of Emergency Situations says that this is a fake. 17:53 For the first time in a long time, 17 civilians, including three children, were evacuated from Severodonetsk, said the head of the Luhansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai. Previously, the evacuation was not carried out due to the shelling of the highway to Bakhmut, through which there is communication with the region. 17:47 Podolyak on Finland's entry into NATO: "Russia is finally tired of the whole world, Moscow's threats no longer interest anyone. NATO borders will reach the suburbs of St. Petersburg - this is how you can translate the conversation between the President of Finland and the Russian president from diplomatic language into simple. Welcome into a new reality, Mr. Putin." 17:45 Turkey has not closed the door for Sweden and Finland to join NATO, but wants to negotiate with countries and prevent "terrorist activities", especially in Stockholm, Erdogan's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said in an interview with Reuters. 17:42 Zelensky, at a meeting with US Republican senators in Kiev, called on the United States to officially recognize Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. 17:18 The war in Ukraine has dealt a severe blow to commodity markets, changing global patterns of trade, production and consumption in such a way that prices will remain historically high until at least 2024, the World Bank said in a report. 17:14 Putin has no choice but to negotiate with Ukraine, Scholz said in an interview with t-online. He recalled that since February 24, the Russian army has suffered much greater losses than the USSR during the decades of the campaign in Afghanistan. "It should gradually become clear to Putin that the only way out of this situation is to reach an agreement with Ukraine," the chancellor said and stressed that the sanctions pressure on Russia would continue until the Kremlin understood this. 17:11 The European Union is working to simplify the procedure for the confiscation of property of Russians. According to the Deputy Head of the European Commission, Margaritis Schinas, the innovations will make it possible to confiscate criminal funds and manage them without waiting for a guilty verdict from the court. 17:07 Negotiations on the oil embargo against Russian oil have been raised to the level of EU foreign ministers. At the level of ambassadors, this initiative was constantly blocked by Hungary. According to Western media, the first meeting at the level of foreign ministers will be held on Monday, May 16, in Brussels. 16:56 Russian invaders are preparing a "census of the population" of the Kherson region, Ukrainian Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova said. The Russians acted in the same way in Crimea in 2014. Residents of the Genichesk district have already begun to receive notifications about the need to apply to the village council. The occupiers plan to start the "census" on Monday, May 16, and complete it by the end of the month. 16:41 The Azov Regiment reports that the occupiers are continuing to storm Azovstal: they are dropping bombs, using heavy artillery and tanks, and using a large number of infantry. 16:24 The Russians are preparing a large-scale disinformation attack for the international community using the parents of children deported to Russia and Donetsk, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petr Andryushchenko reports. Due to threats of separation from children forever, parents are forced to record video messages, where they must "testify" that the separation of parents and children was arranged by Azov fighters and "nationalists". After such videos, the Russians are planning a "second series", where they "found and returned" the children to their parents. 16:02 Killed and wounded occupiers from Snake Island are being brought to Sevastopol. Of the forty signalmen of the RF Armed Forces seconded to Zmeiny Island, eight returned alive, while ten bodies of the dead were evacuated, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported. According to Ukrainian military intelligence, the Sevastopol military hospital is overcrowded with surgery and traumatology departments. Due to the high workload, forty beds are installed in the wards. The "authorities" of Crimea require entrepreneurs to send workers to blood donation points. Anyone can become a donor, no medical documents are required, no examination is carried out. The "state enterprises" of Crimea received an order from the "authorities" to send a certain number of men to the local military registration and enlistment offices (depending on the total number of employees). They are invited to sign contracts with the Russian Armed Forces for a period of three months to a year. They promise to serve in the already occupied regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. But, as practice shows, promises are not kept: many captured Russians complain that they immediately found themselves on the front lines. 15:47 About 5 million Ukrainians have lost their jobs since the beginning of the war, according to the International Labor Organization. If the fighting intensifies, this figure could rise to 7 million people. And if the fighting stopped immediately, 3.4 million jobs could be restored. 15:33 Zelensky met with a delegation of the upper house of the US Congress, headed by the leader of the Republican minority in the Senate, Mitchell McConnell, who is visiting Ukraine. "This visit is a powerful signal of bipartisan support for Ukraine by the US Congress, as well as the American people," the president said. 15:10 From May 16, electronic payment for travel in municipal public transport will be resumed in Kiev - both in the subway and in land transport, Klitschko said. 15:02 Kyiv City Council has renamed the Arch of Friendship of Peoples in the capital - now it is called the Arch of Freedom of the Ukrainian people, Klitschko said. The deputies also approved a list of more than 40 monuments and memorial signs that must be removed from the streets of the city and transferred to the museum of totalitarianism. As for the renaming, this, according to the mayor, is a "resonant topic": "We heard both the opinions and wishes of the people of Kiev, and criticism. Therefore, in order not to make hasty decisions, we attract specialists from the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of National Memory and other institutions to completion of the naming process". The Kyiv City Council has extended the voting on renaming the capital's objects until June 19, it will be held in the Kiev digital mobile application . 14:53 Finnish President Sauli Niinostiio, in a conversation with Putin, said that Russia's demands to abandon NATO membership at the end of 2021 and its full-scale attack on Ukraine in February 2022 changed the security policy in Finland, the Office of the Finnish President said. The Finnish president also reminded Putin that he said at their first meeting in 2012 that every independent nation maximizes its own security. "This is still the case. By joining NATO, Finland will strengthen its own security and assume responsibility. Finland wants to continue to solve the practical problems that the border neighborhood creates, factually and professionally," he said. The President of Finland also conveyed to Putin a message from Zelensky about the need to ensure the evacuation of the civilian population. 14:36 Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu announced the resumption of the work of the Romanian embassy in Kiev. 14:29 The Russian Foreign Ministry said that if the EU really approves the procedure for starting Ukraine's registration in the European Union, "this will mean the end of the European Union." 14:11 The President of Finland spoke with Putin and told him that in the coming days the country would make a decision on NATO membership, Russian media reported, citing the chancellery. According to the Kremlin, Putin stressed that Finland's abandonment of its traditional policy of military neutrality "would be wrong" and that "there are no threats to Finland's security." He also warned that "a change in Finland's foreign policy could have a negative impact on relations with the Russian Federation." In addition, Putin said that the negotiation process on Ukraine "is actually suspended by Kyiv", and Kyiv "does not show interest in a serious and constructive dialogue." 14:05 Russian media write that in Kherson, prisoners in the pre-trial detention center rebelled and attempted to escape, the police stopped the riots. 13:59 The G7 countries are ready to supply weapons to Ukraine for a long time , it is said in a joint statement adopted by the foreign ministers of the G7 countries: "We will continue to provide our military assistance to Ukraine as long as it is necessary." 13:42 Ukrzaliznytsia stops running evacuation trains due to a significant decrease in demand for flights, said the head of the UZ, Alexander Kamyshin. According to him, there will be only one flight for the evacuation of people - from Pokrovsk, Donetsk region. 13:30 Defenders of Azovstal see the only way out for themselves - extraction to Turkey. But a guarantor is needed, which China can become, relatives of the defenders said at a briefing. 13:11 Relatives of the defenders of Azovstal asked China to intervene and become a peacemaker, to help save the Ukrainian military. The third country for the extraction of the defenders of Mariupol may be Turkey, Erdogan is not against it, they said at a briefing. 13:08 At a meeting of G7 ambassadors, Ukraine announced the need to create an influential organization of grain exporting countries that responds to global market challenges. "Due to the blockade of Ukrainian seaports, 7 million tons of wheat, 14 million tons of corn grain, 3 million tons of sunflower oil and 3 million tons of sunflower cake, as well as other crops, did not enter the world market," Minister of Agrarian Policy Mykola Solsky said. Therefore, Solsky suggested discussing the creation of an influential organization of the main grain exporting countries in the world, which would respond to threats to food security, in particular from the Russian Federation. This organization, at the suggestion of Ukraine, will set the maximum volumes of grain exports to stabilize prices and predictability of the market. 13:02 The Moldovan Post reported that "for technical reasons" it suspends the sending of all shipments to Russia. 13:00 British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss urged the West to continue supporting Ukraine with heavy weapons, including aircraft, and to tighten sanctions. 12:58 On the territory of the Avangard community of the Odessa district, pyrotechnics will destroy ammunition today from 13:00 to 15:00. The State Emergency Service asks citizens not to panic - an explosion will be heard. 12:55 This morning, the occupants fired at the border settlement of Bleshni in the Chernihiv region from the Russian side. Eight explosions were recorded on its outskirts, preliminary shelling was carried out from a mortar. There are no losses among personnel and equipment, OK Pivnich reported. 12:48 Russia today disconnected Finland from the supply of electricity, said the operator of the national energy system Fingrid. At the same time, the company assured that there would be no serious problems, since Sweden would provide sufficient capacity. Electricity from Russia accounts for about 10% of Finland's total consumption. The official reason for the shutdown is "problems with payments." 12:46 Banks that help Russians circumvent sanctions may themselves be subject to restrictions, the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control has warned. At present, the department is focused on preventing Russian institutions and citizens from evading sanctions, Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyem said. The Office of Foreign Assets Control, which is responsible for the imposition and implementation of sanctions, expects banks to "conduct their own due diligence" to ensure they do not transact with sanctioned individuals or companies. 12:44 There is no immediate threat to Kiev today, the defense plan in case of another Russian offensive is ready, said the chief of staff of the Kiev military administration, Sergei Korniychuk. He assured that in the event of a second offensive, the Kyiv defense plan was developed taking into account the shortcomings and miscalculations during the first Russian offensive. "There is no direct threat to the capital today. But given that the capital is a major political and economic center, Kyiv will always be one of the enemy's main strategic targets. Considering this, we are preparing for the worst-case scenario - this is a second offensive," Korniychuk explained. 12:41 The Ukrainian military went on a counteroffensive in the Izyum direction , Oleg Sinegubov, head of the Kharkiv OVA, said: "The Izyum direction remains the hottest point. Our armed forces have launched a counteroffensive there. The enemy is retreating in some directions." 12:39 Covert mobilization continues at the state level in Russia. In the Belgorod and Rostov regions, on the basis of conscripts and mobilization resources, new units of troops are being formed, which are sent to Ukraine. However, the use of such troops is mostly ineffective, said the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Vadym Skibitsky. According to him, Russia has already exhausted the reserves of combat-ready tactical battalion groups. Skibitsky also confirmed information about depression and a depressive moral and psychological climate in the units of the Russian troops. The most depressed morale is among the servicemen of the 1st and 2nd army corps from ORDLO, because it is there that forced mobilization takes place. Untrained personnel are now being sent to the most important areas. 12:31 In three days, the invaders lost about 250 pieces of equipment and up to 1,500 soldiers and officers near Belogorovka, Anton Gerashchenko reports and publishes a video: 12:25 Deputies of the Mariupol City Council appealed to the Foreign Ministry with a request to use all international instruments to save the Ukrainian military from Azovstal. Such an appeal was adopted at an extraordinary session held online today, the city council said. 12:23 Russia is planning the third phase of the war in Ukraine at least until the end of the year, adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Viktor Andrusiv believes: "I will explain why - according to their calculations, a serious energy crisis will begin in the world closer to winter, problems with heating will begin, and in Ukraine too these problems will begin, and serious problems with the economy, because energy prices are growing very strongly, and now the Kremlin’s stake will be that towards the end of the year the West will understand, let’s say, that it is necessary to negotiate with the Russian Federation, and if they hold out until the end years, then they expect that they will be negotiated with what they demand. 12:18 Ukraine can avoid prolonging the war if it receives enough weapons from partners, says former Supreme Commander of NATO Allied Forces in Europe, four-star General of the US Army Wesley Clark: "If Ukraine has the combat ability to push back Russian troops in Donbas, cut them gradually forces in Kherson, Kherson region, close their access to the Crimea and go in two directions, both in the east and in the south, and cut their troops. In addition, you need to get mobile protective equipment and then close these boilers or the cordon in two places " . According to the general, this requires tanks, and MLRS, and helicopters, and aircraft, such as Su, F-16, etc. It also requires proper logistical capabilities and relevant intelligence data. "If Ukraine has high moral standards, the proper spirit and motivation, receives the proper equipment, weapons and equipment, including the MiG-35, other types of helicopters and aircraft from friend countries, then we can avoid a scenario of a long war," Clark is convinced. . 12:06 In Mariupol, in areas where there is electricity at least from generators, people began to watch Ukrainian television through T2, adviser to the mayor of the city Petr Andryushchenko reports. He asks the employees of TV channels to start a running line that Ukraine is fighting for the Mariupol residents and is waiting for the liberation of the city, and that everything the occupiers are talking about is a lie. In particular, they lie to Mariupol residents about criminal liability and forced mobilization when crossing the line of confrontation. 11:56 The problem with fuel in Kiev should be completely resolved before the end of the month, said the deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration Nikolai Povoroznik. According to him, now, first of all, those structures that urgently need it are provided with fuel, and "for all other consumers, this is a market issue." 11:42 This weekend, the US will try to find out why Turkey opposes Sweden and Finland joining NATO, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said. In particular, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is scheduled to meet with his counterparts in the Alliance, including the Turkish foreign minister, this weekend at an informal meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers. 11:17 In the occupied Melitopol, many strangers have appeared spreading gossip, the Zaporozhye Regional Military Administration reported. As residents of the city note, they were brought before May 9 from the Crimea and the so-called "LDNR" and settled in empty houses and apartments. "Missed Cossacks" in city markets, in squares and parks sit down with people and say that in the city 60% of the population has allegedly already gone over to the side of the Russian Federation, and Ukraine, they say, has already forgotten about Melitopol. 11:14 Lukashenka and Putin will hold bilateral talks in Moscow on May 16 as part of the CSTO summit, Minsk said. 11:12 The "DPR" reported that almost 500 people, including 63 children, were "evacuated" from Mariupol to Bezymennoe in a day. 11:07 The situation in Pridnestrovie is destabilized by internal forces, although the growth of tension is really connected with the war in Ukraine, Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu said. According to him, the purpose of these forces is to ignite the conflict and prevent the country from joining the EU. "We want to resolve the Transnistrian conflict through dialogue and diplomacy. We see that the vast majority of citizens in the Transnistrian region do not want to live in a war zone and want peace, but there are forces inside that want to fuel destabilization," Popescu said on the sidelines of the meeting of heads Foreign Ministry of the G7. He added that Moldova is making every effort to prevent the war from starting inside the country. 11:01 Ukrainian intelligence suggests that a "referendum" in Kherson on joining Russia can be held in September, namely on September 11th. "And we must not forget that about 800,000 passports of citizens of the Russian Federation have been issued on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, in the occupied territories," Vadim Skibitsky, a spokesman for the Main Intelligence Directorate, said. 10:57 The American Institute for the Study of War admits that Russia intends to annex the occupied south and east of Ukraine in the coming months and include them in its composition. Further, the doctrine will spread to these regions, allowing the use of nuclear weapons to protect Russian territory. This threatens Ukraine and its partners with a nuclear attack in the event of an attempt to recapture these areas. Analysts note that this option could have “devastating consequences for the long-term viability of the Ukrainian state,” so the West urgently needs to support the Ukrainian counteroffensive and thwart such a scenario. 10:52 In the Kherson region, the invaders are handing out "leading positions" to waitresses and bouncers, the SBU reports, citing the interception of conversations. Collaborators admit that due to unprofessionalism they are leading the region to a humanitarian crisis, and they are already planning to flee to Crimea. 10:43 The Armed Forces of Ukraine can return the entire Donbas if the Russians do not stop the offensive ahead of schedule, analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War say. According to them, the new phase of the war will follow one of three development paths:
10:37 In Mariupol, after an attempt by the invaders to return water supply to the city, all basements are flooded, water flows through the streets, since all pipes are damaged by shelling. Workers of the water utility received diving equipment and are trying unsuccessfully to repair gusts in the basements, said the mayor's adviser Petr Andryushchenko. Drinking water, according to him, is still inaccessible - it, like food, is sorely lacking. In the city, about 150-170 thousand people remain hostages of the occupying authorities, with almost no chance to leave for Ukraine. 10:23 For Ukraine, the proposal on "alternative options for European integration" is unacceptable , Yermak said: "We believe that it creates the same illusion of open doors as in the case of NATO." The head of the Presidential Office emphasized that both a powerful sanctions policy and Ukraine's accession to the EU is a matter of mutual security - for Kyiv itself and for all of Europe, "although not all European capitals are aware of this yet." “Ukraine today deserves to be applied special unprecedented mechanisms for EU membership. In June, our state should receive the status of a candidate for the European Union, because otherwise it will be an extremely negative and wrong signal,” Yermak said. “The EU and NATO should finally "to understand that as much as Ukraine needs the EU and NATO, NATO and the EU need Ukraine to the same extent. I believe that today neither the European Union nor NATO will be strong without Ukraine." Yermak is also convinced that Ukraine will become one of the founders and leaders of the new security system that should be created after the war. "And we want to do it together with our European friends," he added. 09:59 The General Staff announced the approximate combat losses of the enemy on the morning of May 14. The enemy suffered the greatest losses over the past day in the Slavic and Bakhmut directions.
09:41 Ukraine is negotiating the evacuation of 60 seriously wounded from Azovstal, Irina Vereshchuk told Suspilny. According to her, about 600 wounded are now on the territory of the plant. 09:28 The occupiers continue to attack Azovstal from the sky, the earth and are trying to advance by land, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol Petr Andryushchenko reports. In addition, yesterday the occupiers published in social networks personal contacts (phone numbers, profiles) of the brides and wives of Ukrainian defenders. 09:26 On the evening of May 13, Russian troops fired on one of the border villages of the Shostka district of the Sumy region with unguided aircraft missiles, the State Border Service reported. 09:25 British intelligence reports that "the fact that Russia managed to impose a pro-Russian local leadership only in Kherson highlights the inability of the Russian invasion to make progress in achieving its political goals in Ukraine." Analysts note that if Russia holds a referendum in Kherson on joining the Russian Federation, it will almost certainly manipulate its results in order to show a clear majority in favor of secession from Ukraine. "Residents of the Kherson region, most likely, will continue to demonstrate their disagreement with the Russian occupation," the intelligence service believes. 09:08 The Turkish ruling party clarified its position regarding the membership of Sweden and Finland in NATO: Ankara wants these countries to reconsider relations with the Kurdistan Workers' Party banned in Turkey. 09:06 Ukraine is ready to return to Russia the bodies of the Russian invaders who died near Kiev and Chernigov. Volodymyr Lyamzin, head of the department for military-civilian cooperation in Ukraine, said that on May 13, the Ukrainian military authorities loaded the bodies of Russian soldiers collected after the fighting in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions into refrigerator cars. 08:59 The Russians are again trying to install air defense systems on Serpentine, said the speaker of the Odesa OVA Sergey Bratchuk. 08:51 In the Lugansk region, seven high-rise buildings in Severodonetsk and one in Rubizhne were damaged from Russian shelling, where two private houses were also destroyed. In Lisichansk, as a result of artillery shelling, the administrative building of a rubber technical products plant was destroyed, said the head of the OVA, Sergei Gaidai. In the Rubizhne area, the enemy continues shelling, so there could be much more damage there, Gaidai specified. The Russians also conducted assault operations in the areas of Zolote and Kamyshevakhi. 08:47 Today, early in the morning, the invaders fired at the Dnepropetrovsk region from Hurricanes, said the head of the OVA, Valentin Reznichenko. The Shirokovskaya bulk fell under the blow, people were not injured. Windows were shattered in several houses, cluster munitions were found in several yards, and pyrotechnicians were at work. 08:29 According to the Pentagon, there are now 105 Russian battalion tactical groups in Ukraine. The number of Russian BTGs in Donbas continues to grow. 08:21 The United States will rotate its troops in Europe in the coming weeks and months, said Pentagon spokesman John Kirby. According to the NYT, this signals that the temporary deployment of troops is likely to become permanent. 10.5 thousand US troops will go to Europe. Kirby emphasized that these forces are not going to fight in Ukraine, but intend to support the defense of NATO allies. The total number of American troops in Europe will remain at about 100,000. 07:55 Russia has entered the third phase of a full-scale war in Ukraine and is preparing for a long-term battle, Viktor Andrusiv, adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs, said. According to him, the first phase was an attempt to seize Ukraine "in a couple of days", the second - to carry out a large encirclement of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the east. Now the occupiers have passed into the third phase of the war, when they begin to prepare for the defense of the lines where they stopped. "This indicates that they have decided to turn the war into a very long one ... They expect that the crises that the war causes will put the West at the negotiating table with them, and the West will try to exchange us for something," the adviser explained. 07:48 In the Donetsk and Tauride directions, the enemy used mortars, cannon artillery, multiple launch rocket systems and aircraft in order to inflict maximum losses on the Defense Forces, deplete personnel and destroy fortifications, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports in the morning report . In addition, the enemy is trying to improve the tactical situation in the areas of the settlements of Kamyshevakha, Krasnogorovka, Novomikhailovka, Konstantinovka and Pobeda - he has no luck. 07:22 Zelensky will speak via video link at the World Economic Forum in Davos on May 23. Personally in Davos, Ukraine will be represented by the Minister of Digital Transformation Mikhail Fedorov and the Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko. 07:16 Azov in Mariupol destroyed about six thousand Russian soldiers, along with the general, said the deputy commander of the regiment, Captain Svyatoslav Palamar, during the Kiev Security Forum. According to him, the enemy prevailed in terms of the number of people and weapons. The grouping consisted of about 14,000 people, including Wagner PMC militants. 78 tanks and more than a hundred armored vehicles were also destroyed. 07:08 The American Institute for the Study of War believes that Ukraine most likely won the battle for Kharkov. Moscow is conducting an orderly withdrawal of its forces from near Kharkov, not trying to hold positions. That is, the Russian Federation does not conduct large-scale battles for the liberated settlements. Analysts note that the Russians failed to encircle Kharkov, these plans can be considered failed. At the moment, they call the goal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the disruption of communications between the Belgorod region and the enemy grouping, which operates in the Izyum direction. However, according to experts, these lines of communication are largely inaccessible to Ukrainians. Especially to the east of Kharkov, where there is a water barrier - Seversky Donets. 00:02 The Russian army has big problems with personnel at the front in Ukraine, there are not enough people, but instead of open mobilization, they are trying to carry it out covertly. Details on how this happens are in the material To death by advertising . |

Ukrainian Perspective: Invasion of Ukraine: April 4th, 2022 |
2022-04-06 |
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. [Korrespondent] 20:44 The Czech Republic handed over dozens of Soviet T-72 tanks and infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. ![]() 20:41 The total wealth of the ten richest Russian billionaires has decreased by $90 billion compared to last year. 20:37 In Russia, the standard of living has risen to such heights that the federal publication Moskovsky Komsomolets tells how to cook a casserole from leftovers. 20:34 Head of the Central Command Post of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Mikhail Mizintsev confirmed that the invaders killed 93 men in civilian clothes during the humanitarian corridors leaving Mariupol. "Over the past two days, part of the militants, numbering from 150 to 200 people, using humanitarian corridors, dressed in civilian clothes, deserted from the city. And in scattered groups of 10-15 people moved to the Zaporozhye region along country roads. Overnight, 93 of them were liquidated , the location of the rest has been established. The question of their destruction is a matter of a short time," he said. 20:26 The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that "taking into account Kiev's disinterest in saving the lives of its servicemen, Mariupol will be liberated from the nationalists by the RF Armed Forces and the DPR." 20:07 "There is almost no city," says Aleksey Kuleba, head of the OVA's humanitarian direction, about Borodyanka. The city is now closed - rescuers and law enforcement officers are working there. Earlier, Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova said that the worst situation with victims among all the liberated settlements of the Kiev region is in Borodyanka. 20:04 Russian troops are preparing to surrender Kherson, Arestovich said. 19:58 The American television channel NBC News reports that the new US sanctions will include a complete ban on new investments in the Russian Federation. 19:51 Russia deliberately disrupts oil supplies from Kazakhstan to the EU under the pretext of a storm in the port of Novorossiysk, writes the German edition Handelsblatt. Purpose: to keep prices in Europe at a high level and thereby undermine the economy of the EU, which announced sanctions against the Russian Federation because of the war in Ukraine. We are talking about the infrastructure of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium, headquartered in Moscow. "The pipeline passes through Russia and Russian firms dominate the consortium, but the oil in the pipeline is owned mainly by western firms such as Chevron, Shell and Eni, which are involved in oil production in Kazakhstan," the paper said. In addition, Moscow shows its power to Kazakhstan. Handelsblatt's conclusion: "The example of Kazakhstan shows the tactics that Russia resorts to outside the actual theater of operations in Ukraine." 19:44 Speaking at a virtual press briefing, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights spokesperson Liz Trussell expressed the UN's horror at the photos. "What we saw in Bucha and other areas clearly points to very disturbing events. The brutality, the attacks on civilians really underline that it is so disturbing. Looking at the video and footage from there, we see all the signs that the victims were direct targets and directly killed," Trussell said. 19:42 China's envoy to the UN Zhang Jun said that "any accusations about the events in Bucha must be confirmed by facts." 19:37 Stoltenberg said that after the regrouping, Russia will focus its strike on the east and south of Ukraine. 19:21 The Ministry of Economy of Germany announced that Germany approved the supply of arms and military goods to Ukraine in the amount of more than 186 million euros. 19:15 The command of the RF Armed Forces is trying to make up for the loss of personnel in the war in Ukraine by attracting representatives of military educational institutions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said. 19:06 The likelihood of conflict between the big powers is increasing, said the head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, Mark Milley. The general says Russia's nuclear rhetoric has become "very provocative." "We are entering a world that is becoming increasingly unstable, and the likelihood of a major international conflict between the big powers is increasing, not decreasing," Milley said. 19:01 Countries that have already recalled Russian diplomats: 🇱🇹Lithuania - the ambassador leaves the country, the consulate in Klaipeda closes 🇩🇪Germany - 40 diplomats 🇫🇷France - 35 diplomats 🇮🇹Italy - 30 diplomats 🇩🇰Denmark - 15 diplomats 🇸🇪Sweden - 3 diplomats 🇪🇸Spain - 25 diplomats 🇵🇱Poland - 45 diplomats 🇨🇿 Czech Republic - one diplomat 🇳🇱Netherlands - 17 🇧🇪Belgium - 21 🇮🇪Ireland - 4 🇪🇪Estonia - 7, in addition, it closes the main consulate of the Russian Federation 🇱🇻Latvia - 13, closes two consulates 🇸🇮Slovenia - 33 diplomats 🇪🇺 The European Union declared 19 employees of the Russian Permanent Mission to the EU persona non grata 18:40 Zelensky showed at a meeting of the UN Security Council a video of civilians who died at the hands of the occupiers. 18:29 Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said that she and other foreign ministers of the Scandinavian countries are considering the possibility of traveling to Kiev to meet with Vladimir Zelensky. 18:26 NATO will provide Ukraine with weapons to protect against a new offensive by the Russian army, which is expected in the coming weeks, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference in Brussels. He stressed that the Alliance will provide Ukraine with equipment that will effectively deter the advance of Russian forces. Stoltenberg explained the decision to provide weapons for protection with intelligence and surveillance data confirming that Russian troops are regrouping, replenishing personnel and providing their units and equipment with resources for a new large-scale offensive in the Donbass. “We are seeing a significant movement of Russian troops from Kyiv to regroup, rearm, supply and shift focus to the east. In the coming weeks, we expect further Russian offensives in eastern and southern Ukraine to try to capture the entire Donbass and create a land bridge to occupied Crimea,” he said. Stoltenberg. 18:17 In the once 30,000-strong Bucha, only 3,700 people remained after the liberation. This was stated by the mayor Anatoly Fedoruk. 18:10 Transcript of Zelensky's speech at the UN Security Council: There is not a single crime in Bucha that they would not have committed. They killed entire families - adults and children, tried to burn people. Some were shot in the streets, some were killed in houses, they were run over by tanks while they were in a car, women were raped and killed in front of their children. They leave the country in ruins. The aggressor provoked a food crisis that could lead to famine in Africa and Asia and political chaos in countries that are facing the fact that their security system is disappearing. The world saw what happened in Bucha, the world will have to see what they did in other cities and regions of the country. You know what the Russian Federation will say to such actions. After they shot down a Boeing over the Donbass, what they said in Syria - they refer to a variety of versions of what happened, they even declare that these are all staged shots. The goal of the UN is to keep the peace, to prevent violations. But the first article of the statute has already been violated. If the first article is violated, what is the point of the other articles? Now the result of the actions of the Russian Federation-the most horrific crimes of all time. The Russian leadership behaves like a colonialist in ancient times - they intend to turn Ukrainians into silent slaves, rob villages, steal food, rip gold earrings out of their ears, use a veto in the Security Council. We must not allow this to go unpunished. If the situation continues, then countries will rely only on the force of arms to ensure their security, the UN can simply be closed. Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to close the UN? If not, you need to act immediately. We need to reform so that the right to veto is not the right to die. All who give criminal orders will face a tribunal, probably the same as the Nuremberg. Now the main thing is to transform the UN system. I propose to hold a conference in Kyiv and discuss how to reform the security system in the world, how to reinforce international law. At the conference, we will talk about how to guarantee the borders and inviolability of states, how to reinforce international law. But if you do not know how to make a decision, you have 2 ways - either eliminate Russia as a source of war, so that Russia does not block decisions related to its own aggression, and then we will do everything to establish peace. The second option is to eliminate yourself. If you are not capable of anything other than talking, then there is no other option left. Ukraine needs peace, Europe needs peace, the whole world needs peace. 18:02 Mayor of Kherson Igor Kolykhaev reports that the Russian military has completely leaked the database of all activists in Kherson, participants in the territorial defense and anti-terrorist operation: "They know about everyone from beginning to end." 18:00 95 percent of Ukrainians are confident that Ukraine will win the war, but the number of those who do not believe in an early cessation of hostilities is growing, according to a survey by the Rating sociological group. Confidence in a quick victory "in a few weeks" decreased from 47 percent to 35. On the other hand, the positions "several months" and "six months to a year" increased. 17:51 Zelensky speaks at a meeting of the UN Security Council, gathered about the atrocities of the Russian occupiers in Bucha. 17:46 Financial Times writes that Biden will soon announce plans for the US, UK and Australia to jointly create hypersonic weapons. 17:41 Bloomberg reports that the United States will transfer Switchblade 600 kamikaze drones to Ukraine among ten units. We are talking about a drone that is equipped with sensors and video cameras, and is also capable of automatically hitting a target. The new weapons will be supplied to Ukraine as part of military assistance from the Pentagon in the amount of $300 million. The new model drones will be provided in addition to 100 Switchblade-300 drones as part of an $800 million US military aid that was announced earlier. 17:27 The UN Security Council is holding a meeting on the crimes of the invaders in Bucha. Britain, which chairs the UN Security Council, convened a meeting on April 5 to discuss the massacres in the suburbs of Kyiv. At a meeting of the UN Security Council, an increase in the amount of evidence of war crimes, including from Bucha, will be discussed. In Britain, they promise to use the country's chairmanship of the Security Council to ensure transparency, accountability and fairness. "All partners of Ukraine will be informed in detail about what happened in the temporarily occupied territory of our state. War crimes in Bucha and other cities during the Russian occupation will also be the subject of consideration in the UN Security Council on Tuesday," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Zelensky’s speech was also announced during a meeting of the UN Security Council on April 5 on the atrocities of the Russian occupiers in Bucha. 17:24 Joining the EU is supported by 91 percent of Ukrainians, according to the sociological group Rating. 17:17 Stoltenberg: "Russia is responsible for what happened in Bucha. When this happened, it was she who controlled this territory. This is a war crime, but I think we have not seen everything yet. When the territories come under the control of Ukraine, we will see even more evidence of war crimes. 16:45 The speaker of the Kharkiv military administration, Elena Shapoval, said that there are no plans to evacuate the population in Kharkiv. Confident in the strength of the defense: "The hostilities have been going on for 41 days. We all understand that the enemy did not change plans for Kharkov. The only thing that has changed is the strength of our defense, it has grown significantly. The invaders can neither take Kharkov nor approach it. Therefore, evacuation measures in Kharkov we don't do it." 16:21 The first official details of the new EU sanctions were called by Ursula von der Leyen: Russian coal import ban (was four billion euros per year) Bans on imports from Russia for 5.5 billion euros (caviar, alcohol, wood, cement, chemical products, ...) Complete ban on transactions of four key Russian banks, including VTB Banning Russian ships from entering EU ports Ban on work in the EU for transport companies from Russia and Belarus Ban on the export to Russia of semiconductors and engineering products, including transport, for ten billion euros The EU will continue to work on sanctions against Russian oil 16:05 German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said that in the warehouses of the Bundeswehr (the armed forces of Germany) there are hardly weapons left that can be supplied to Ukraine. Moreover, the issues with logistics, repair and training are complicated when it comes to the supply of old systems. At the same time, Burbock noted that the final decision will be agreed at the level of partners in the European Union, NATO and the G7: "We are not saying no, we are looking at what solutions can be, and we are doing this together, as the EU, NATO and G7 Partners". 15:49 Over the month, support for joining NATO among Ukrainians has decreased from 76 percent to 68 percent. 15:15 The Ukrainian military shot down the latest Russian helicopter Ka-52 with the help of anti-tank Stugna. 14:51 Finnish Economy Minister Mika Lintilä expects the European Union to impose the first energy sanctions against Russia on Wednesday. A ban on oil imports would be the minimum requirement, he said. According to Lintil, the replacement of Russian oil does not pose much of a problem, since it can be imported from other countries. The war from Lintilya has gone so far that energy flows to Russia must be stopped, at least temporarily, at any cost, Lintilya believes. "Russia needs to be isolated in terms of energy, because this is the only way to influence the Russian economy so much that it affects their actions. Now in Ukraine, fuel oil is turning into red blood," the Finnish publication Uutiset quotes the minister. 14:28 Borodyanka after the Russian occupation: 14:18 Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya unexpectedly told the truth at a meeting of the organization: "There were no corpses in Bucha before the arrival of Russian soldiers." But then he said "until they left." 14:15 Latvia closes the Russian Consulate General in Liepaja and Daugavpils and expels 13 Russian diplomats. Yesterday, the Latvian Foreign Ministry announced that their country is lowering the level of diplomatic relations with Russia. 14:01 Journalists showed the destroyed Mariupol from a drone. 12:49 Italy expels 30 Russian diplomats for reasons of national security, writes Reuters. 12:44 A resident of Moscow dared to protest against the genocide of Ukrainians. 12:43 79 percent of refugees plan to return to Ukraine after the end of the war. According to the UN, as of April 4, the number of Ukrainian refugees exceeded 4.2 million. 12:38 The EU will adopt a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation this Wednesday. This forecast was made by French Secretary of State for European Affairs Clement Bon. According to him, the European Union should immediately deal with the import of Russian gas, oil and coal. 12:36 The journalist of the Polish Gazeta Wyborcza, the author of works on anti-Semitism and genocides Konstantin Gebert commented on the tragedy in Bucha. “There was a time to hide and bury these bodies. The fact that this did not happen makes me assume that the Russians did it because they could. They showed it because they wanted to. So Russia wants Ukraine and the world to see these photos. Russia tells us that it is not at all interested in what we think of it," Gebert said on Polish Radio. According to him, massacres of civilians in wartime are relatively rare. Most soldiers don't kill civilians, and most commanders don't let that happen. The troops avoid such crimes for moral reasons, for fear of criminal liability, and also for fear that the soldiers will not become demoralized and turn into armed killers. However, things were different in Bucha. Gebert believes that the brutality of the Russians could be designed to scare Ukrainian civilians. Because when the next Ukrainian city is besieged, the "Bucha effect" will lead to "a stampede of residents, which will interfere with the work of the Ukrainian defense." However, such a goal of the Russian Federation seems incomprehensible to the journalist. "The tactical benefit that Russia can get from this is incomparably less than the gigantic image loss," he says. When asked whether the Russian Federation would be held responsible for crimes in Ukraine, Gebert replied that the existing veto mechanisms make it possible to avoid this, but the investigation process will place a heavy burden on it. 12:33 The West is running out of ways to punish Putin. Under this heading, an article appeared on CNN. "The expression of concern, new sanctions and cutting-edge weapons came too late to save a man found shot to death next to his bicycle," writes the author of the photos from Bucha that horrified the whole world, and compares what he saw with the atrocities committed by the Nazis in Ukraine during time of World War II. The author points out: the tragedy in Bucha became a catalyst for the introduction of new sanctions against the Russian Federation, but the tragedy lies in the fact that all of them cannot save civilians. He doubts there is a way to influence the "ruthless Russian leader" because he has long crossed the line. The world's largest arsenal of nuclear warheads also allows him to remain unpunished. 12:31 Full-fledged transport links have been restored between Kyiv and Chernihiv 12:28 Before the "Russian world" invasion, Bucha was an ecologically clean garden city, part of the "green belt" of Kiev, located 29 kilometers from its center. Once there were children's sanatoriums and dachas of Kiev residents, then, in the process of urbanization, new cozy residential complexes appeared in Bucha, where tens of thousands of young families settled. The Buchansk city park was the best place for a family vacation for a huge number of Ukrainians. 12:26 Denmark expels 15 Russian diplomats over suspicions of espionage. 12:24 Roskomnadzor demanded that the administration of the Wikipedia online encyclopedia remove materials in which, according to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, "inaccurate information" about the war in Ukraine is being distributed. The agency claims that the authors of Wikipedia deliberately misinform users in their materials, promoting "an exclusively anti-Russian interpretation of events." The day before, Russian Wikipedia tweeted that Roskomnadzor was demanding the removal of information from five articles at once. 12:21 The KSCA reports that in Kiev and the suburbs, where the fighting was actively fought, the demining process is now underway. Kievans who left the city or region are still urged to refrain from returning. The destruction of supplies will be carried out for two weeks and will be accompanied by the sounds of explosions of various sizes. 12:08 Zelensky does not consider it possible for Hungary to block Ukraine's entry into the European Union. 12:06 The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, will visit Kiev this week and meet with Zelensky, an EU representative said. 12:03 Occupants got into a tank with nitric acid in the Lugansk region. 11:59 Zelensky gave an interview to Ukrainian journalists. The main thing: - On joining NATO: If tomorrow we are seriously offered, we will act. But this will not happen, unfortunately. Therefore, we will build security guarantees for us that can protect life. - On security guarantees: Ukraine has not yet received a list of countries with their confirmed consent to provide security guarantees, but apparently different states are ready to provide different guarantees. - On the agreements with Russia: Even if we sign the most powerful agreement, Russia may return in two years. We understand this, and if you and I accept this, then we act accordingly. - About the meeting with Putin: It's easier to say - let's not talk about anything. The most difficult thing is to say what they did, recognize them as an enemy... And with this position, find opportunities to meet, find a way out and not lose your territory. But perhaps there will be no meeting with Putin. - On punishment for Russian war criminals: We have an internal case against these criminals who tortured our people. We are starting to collect information and will look for these people. There are people who are very eager to find these criminals. If international legislation does not help us in this, Ukrainian law will. - About "demilitarization" and "denazification": We told them that forget about "demilitarization" and "denazification", we won't even talk about it. "Denazification" we ourselves can demand from you, and "demilitarization" - we do not perceive this story. - About Mariupol: The military de-occupation of Mariupol is now very difficult. And our children know this very well. There are agreements with Erdogan that the dead and wounded Ukrainian soldiers can be taken out of the city - by land to Berdyansk, and from there by sea. We are waiting for a response to this proposal from Putin. - About what will be a victory: not to lose sovereignty, not to lose hundreds of thousands of people, postponing the issue of the return of Crimea, Donbass is our territory, Russia's return to positions as of February 23 11:57 The US Treasury prohibits Russia from making any payments on its debt obligations in dollars from accounts in American financial institutions. "Today is the deadline for Russia to make another payment on its debt," said a US Treasury official. "Russia must choose between depleting its remaining dollar reserves, generating new revenue, or defaulting." 11:52 The sounds of explosions in the vicinity of Kiev are the work of pyrotechnicians. 11:48 Zelensky says that de-blockade of Mariupol by military means is now extremely difficult. According to him, there are agreements with Erdogan that the dead and wounded Ukrainian soldiers can be taken out of the city - by land to Berdyansk, and from there by sea. As Zelensky said, they are now waiting for a response on this proposal from Putin. 11:22 Zelensky said that the Ukrainian delegation will not negotiate with Russia about "denazification" and "demilitarization". This is how he sees Ukraine's victory: Don't lose sovereignty Don't lose hundreds of thousands of people Crimea is Ukrainian territory. There can only be a delay in the issue of the return of the peninsula Donbass is our territory. ORDLO is very important for Ukraine The return of Russian forces to positions as of February 23 will be considered a victory by the president 11:11 Even after the conclusion of the treaty, Russia can return in two years, the president said. "We understand that even if we sign the most powerful agreement, Russia can return in two years. We just understand this, and if we accept this, then we will act accordingly," Zelensky said. According to him, the Ukrainian delegation conveyed to the Russian side that Ukraine does not trust Russian guarantees and will continue to build a state that will be able to defend itself. 11:06 The Ukrainian military shot down another Russian Caliber missile from a conventional artillery gun. This was reported in the Navy Armed Forces of Ukraine. 10:43 In the Kiev region, law enforcement officers recorded 1,200 war crimes committed by Russian invaders. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky. 10:40 Russian troops have destroyed at least six granaries since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. 10:36 Zelensky believes that even after the tragic events in Bucha, it is necessary to continue negotiations with the Russian Federation. However, he admits that there may not be a meeting between him and Putin. "It's easy to say - let's not talk about anything today - the position is the easiest. The most difficult thing is to say what they did, recognize them as an enemy and at the same time find an opportunity to meet and find a way out at this meeting without losing their territory," the president said. 10:18 A cross-party group of US congressmen turned to Biden with a request to provide Ukraine with more weapons. The letter outlines the specific needs of the Ukrainian armed forces and territorial defense units. In particular, Ukraine is asking for long-range surface-to-air missiles, fighter jets, anti-ship weapons, Stinger anti-aircraft systems, Javelin anti-tank systems, long-range drones, and radars. 10:13 France expels 35 Russian diplomats. 9:57 In occupied Melitopol, men began to receive "summons". Citizens of Ukraine are called to serve in the "people's militia". 9:44 Many Russian units withdrawn from northern Ukraine are likely to require significant re-equipment and modernization before they can be redeployed to operations in eastern Ukraine," the British intelligence report said. 9:28 In the Lugansk region, which Russian troops are now actively trying to capture, there is a difficult humanitarian situation. Rescuers cannot reach a number of areas, and residents are burying their neighbors in their yards, local authorities said. 9:14 Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, 165 children have died from the actions of the invaders. 8:54 The next target of Russian military aggression may be the city of Dnipro. This was announced by the former commander of NATO forces in Europe, Wesley Clark, on CNN. "What's next: Russians north and south of the Dnieper. If they can reach the Dnieper, they will cut off the Ukrainian forces that are holding back the separatists in the Donbass. And this is the next Russian task: to surround these forces, cut them off, destroy them. This is a significant part Ukrainian army," the retired general said. To prevent this from happening, Clark is calling for heavy weapons to be provided to Ukraine, not just Javelin anti-tank missiles and Stinger man-portable air defense systems. 8:08 In the Konotop district of the Sumy region, the bodies of three civilians were found with signs of torture. 7:39 a.m. Russia is reviewing its military objectives and is preparing for a new phase of the war that could last several months or longer, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said at a briefing. According to him, the Russian Federation is regrouping its forces in order to focus offensive operations in the Donbas and parts of southern Ukraine. 7:36 The enemy is regrouping troops and is focusing its efforts on preparing for an offensive in eastern Ukraine. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports this in the morning report. 4:54 The Pentagon has promised to provide $300 million worth of requested drones, Javelin anti-tank missile systems and Stinger man-portable air defense systems to Ukraine. 2:23 The US authorities decided to sell eight F-16 Block 70 fighter jets to Bulgaria in order to increase the country's security against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, local media write. The FBI has disgraced itself
2020-05-03 | |
By Wesley Clark
Over the years, my childhood idol has suffered revelations about his own rectitude, but nothing he has ever done even remotely approaches the disgraceful actions revealed today, committed by the great FBI that I idolized. This week, we learned that an American hero, a loyal lifelong and proved courageous defender of our nation, was callously framed by a political conspiracy of the most senior FBI officials, seeking thereby to defame and destroy the newly elected president of the United States, Donald Trump ![]() Over the years, the FBI regrettably has shown itself to be self-serving and inept and has suffered several disgraceful scandals, but always committed by lesser men. Today, the FBI, at the very top, has shown itself to actually be seditious, subverting the office of the president of the United States! On April 30, 2020, the 8-year-old boy in me has tears running down his face. The FBI, from its current director, Christopher Wray, to its lowest janitor, has irretrievably disgraced itself and, most grievously, has destroyed forever the faith and confidence that Americans have granted to what once was the greatest law enforcement entity in the world. Will it ever again be an inspiration to 8-year-old American boys? Related: Wesley Clark: 2019-02-25 Military Elites: Screw Your Rights! Military Elites: Screw Your Rights! |
2019-02-25 |
[VictoryGirlsBlog] Thirteen former military commanders and other "elites" have signed a letter to the House of Representatives demanding "universal background checks" for all gun sales in the United States. The baker’s dozen of constitutionally illiterate military advisers and former "combat leaders" are putting their weight behind HR 8 ‐ a bill that violates your right to dispose of your own property as you see fit, as well as makes tools of self-defense much more inaccessible to We the People. "A prohibited person with dangerous intent can easily buy a gun over the internet or in a parking lot with no questions asked," the military advisers wrote to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer."For those of us with extensive firearms training, who have seen the damage inflicted by a powerful weapon in the wrong hands, this is simply unfathomable," they wrote. "For those of us with extensive firearms training..." Ya know, I remember pretty vividly an MRX in Hohenfels, Germany, during which I had to show a rather chunky Air Force Colonel how to lock his bolt to the rear on his rifle, so forgive me if I’m not impressed by the claims of people like Wesley Clark and Mark Hertling who signed on to a letter generated by Gabrielle Giffords’ gun control organization, urging legislators to relieve you of your rights. "Each of us has, at some point in our lives, made the choice to risk our lives for our fellow citizens and place ourselves in harm’s way. We were trained, we were coached, and we were prepared for the dangers that we chose to face," says the "Veterans’ Coalition" to Shred the Constitution ‐ retired senior officers who flog their credibility as people who risk their lives to defend our nation, but who seem to have forgotten that they also took an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic ‐ the same Constitution that says the people’s right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. CNN's Mike Rogers: Mattis' Resignation Will ‘Leave a Mark' on Trump |
2018-12-25 |
Rogers said, "I think this one is going to leave a mark on the president, for a whole host of reasons. If you read that Mattis letter, I think this is why Republicans are getting so concerned, it was more than just about Afghanistan or Syria. It was that for sure, I think that was the tipping point. If you look back, Mattis was the one who had to go to Japan and reassure our allies after kind of the giveaway to North Korea on troop discussions there and training exercises. He immediately left for Japan to try to fix that problem. Pulling out of the INF with the Russians and now the Russians running around, saying this is going to cause a nuclear problem, which could have been okay if there was a strategy to follow it. There wasn’t and Mattis was the one trying to put this all back together." He continued, "Then abandoning our allies and alliances in Syria and Afghanistan was probably the last straw for General Mattis. Those Republicans in the national security space see this as a significant problem because, you know, listen, our safety and security is dependent on allies and allegiances around the in tough neighborhoods." Video also contains comments from Clinton lickspittle Gen (R) Wesley Clark. |

Ukraine’s Hybrid War | |
2018-03-10 | |
![]()
Ukraine has been on the front lines of a new generation of warfare where Russia blurs the lines between peace and war. Moscow’s aggression began with the seizure and then annexation of Crimea in February and March, and then the not so-covert war in Donbas in April. While the Kremlin has claimed that this was an uprising of Donbas’ ethnic Russians and Russian-speakers against the government in Kyiv, the truth is that this has been a war led, financed and armed from Moscow. Thousands of regular Russian troops stopped Kyiv from retaking the entire Donbas in the late summer of 2014 and thousands of Russian troops remain in the occupied territories today. Moscow controls the military activity of the so-called separatist forces. We have watched carefully the evolution of Ukraine’s armed forces since the war began and it is impressive. We were in Kyiv in the first half of December at the invitation of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation for discussions with senior politicians, military representatives and representatives of civil society. We were impressed by their competence, dedication and energy. Ukraine’s army has largely fought Kremlin forces to a stalemate. The old, static, Soviet-style army that Ukraine had in 2014 has been transformed into a capable fighting force. Part of that is due to the training provided by NATO members and especially the U.S. But most of this is due to the exigencies of wartime and Ukraine’s creative response. Ukrainian officers have adapted well to battlefield developments and proved ingenious at countering Moscow’s clear advantages in tanks, artillery, cyber and electronic warfare. For instance, reluctance on the part of Western countries and Israel to provide state-of-the-art drones prompted Ukrainian engineers to create their own, less complicated versions that have proved quite serviceable; and Ukraine’s own formidable cyber community has done a stalwart job shutting done Russian attacks on electricity grids and other infrastructure. Ukrainian hackers also got into the files of senior Putin-aide Vladislav Surkov and revealed embarrassing details about Kremlin operations in Ukraine. In short, the Russian campaign in Ukraine is the face of future, hybrid war; and Ukraine has gained valuable experience that NATO and the U.S. are currently absorbing. This knowledge is critical for our own defense against an aggressive Kremlin.

Gen. Wesley Clark's son heading astroturf protest group |
2016-12-04 |
[Oathkeepers] The leaders of this effort are Michael A. Wood Jr. and Wesley Clark Jr. On the surface, the effort appears to be a legitimate attempt on the part of Mr. Wood and Mr. Clark to raise awareness of the Standing Rock tribe protest. Their “Op Order” suggests that they intend to provide much needed relief to the current protesters at the site and to use military formations in order to secure the site perimeter. The language and adjectives used in their literature identifies organizations like the Sheriff’s Dept. as an “opposing force”. I’m sure the Sheriff will not be amused with their stance. They state their “mission” as follows:“Our mission is to prevent progress on the Dakota Access Pipeline and draw national attention to the human rights warriors of the Sioux tribes regarding the United States lack of treaty enforcement.” Curious as to the background and capabilities of Michael A. Wood Jr. and Wesley Clark Jr., I reviewed their background and some of the other initiatives they have supported. Mr. Wood was a member of the USMC and a Baltimore City Police Officer. Mr. Wood made the background research effort easy by hosting his own website that touts his achievements. He started seeking media attention in conjunction with the death of Freddie Gray in Baltimore. He takes a hard-stance against his former colleagues at the Baltimore Police Department in numerous interviews with the press and became a minor celebrity in Baltimore with his timely allegations of police wrong doing. Wesley Clark: Climate Change 'Behind a Lot of the Violence in Syria'
2014-11-02 | ||
[Breitbart] Gen. Wesley Clark placed part of the blame for the Syrian Civil War on blamed climate change in a discussion on Friday's broadcast of HBO's "Real Time." After host Bill Maher quoted a report from the Department of Defense saying climate change threatens national security, Clark said "It's what was behind a lot of the violence in Syria, it's happening in East Africa, it's happening in West Africa. Right now." Murderous, death cult religion, no bearing at all, right general ? He urged the US government to take "real action, we need a carbon tax." He added that climate change-believers were "winning"
So General, will the new 'carbon tax' be given to ISIS, Boko Haram, Al Shaboom, Mooslim Broederbond, Hamas, the Army-Navy Club ?
