Danish-Born Islamic State Fighter Stripped of Citizenship
2017-11-16
[Breitbart] For the first time in Danish history, a citizen born in Denmark has had his citizenship revoked after being convicted of being a member of the Islamic State terror group.

Danish-born Muslim Enes Ciftci, 25, who is also a citizen of Turkey, was found guilty of supporting the terror group and sentenced to six years in prison and expulsion. The court found that Ciftci had expressed support for terrorist attacks committed by the group and had actively tried to raise funding for them, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation reports.

The case is the first time a Danish citizen born in the country has had their citizenship revoked. However, it is not the first time a foreign-born Islamic radical has been stripped of citizenship.

Last year, Muslim bookshop owner Said Mansour was the first criminal to be stripped of his Danish citizenship after being sentenced to four years in prison for supporting terrorist groups. Mansour, 56, came to Denmark from Morrocco as an adult in 1988.

In the case of Ciftci, the court justified taking away his citizenship saying that he had twice attempted to join Islamic State in 2013 and 2015.

He is also said to have raised 20,000 Danish krone (£1,400) for the terror group and praised the Copenhagen terror attacker Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein.

Hussein was responsible for attacking both a presentation put on by Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, as well as shooting up a synagogue in the city, killing two and injuring several others in 2015.

America's 'Jihad Jane' Jailed for 10 Years
2014-01-07
[An Nahar] An American woman nicknamed "Jihad Jane" was jugged
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
for 10 years on Monday after plotting to carry out deadly attacks in Europe and South Asia including the murder of a Swedish cartoonist, U.S. justice officials said.

Pennsylvania woman Colleen LaRose, 50, a convert to Islam, had already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to kill in a foreign country, making false statements and attempted identity theft.

"This case clearly underscores the evolving nature of the terrorist threat we now face in this country," said Zane David Memeger, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

"The Internet has made it easier for those who want to attack the American way of life to identify like-minded individuals to carry out their terroristic plans."

An accomplice of LaRose, Jamie Ramirez, who has also pleaded guilty, is to be sentenced on Wednesday.

According to court documents, LaRose and her conspirators had recruited men on the Internet to carry out a "violent jihad" in South Asia and Europe.

She also sought to recruit women on the Internet who had passports and the ability to travel freely around Europe.

LaRose also received a direct order to kill Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who had outraged many Moslems by drawing the Prophet Mohammed's head on a dog's body.

LaRose agreed to carry out the murder, believing that her American citizenship and appearance would help her blend in as she attempted the killing.

She later traveled to Europe and tracked Vilks online in an effort to complete the crime but was unsuccessful.

In addition to 10 years in prison, federal judge Petrese Tucker also fined LaRose $2,500, and placed her on five years parole after her release from prison.

She could be released in a little more four years, taking into account good behavior and the years she's already served.

The relatively light sentence may have been due to her cooperation with Sherlocks.

She was taken into custody in October 2009, but her arrest was not made public until March 2010 after the Irish police jugged

Honor student pleads guilty in Jihad Jane plot
2012-05-07
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Maryland honor student pleaded guilty Friday to conspiring to help a Pennsylvania woman known as "Jihad Jane" plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist who had offended some Muslims. Mohammed Hassan Khalid, 18, is believed to be the youngest person ever charged with terrorism in a U.S. civilian court. He faces a sentence as high as 15 years in prison.

Khalid, who moved with his family from Pakistan to suburban Baltimore in 2008, was a high school student who had been accepted on a full scholarship at prestigious Johns Hopkins University.
And he wasn't even 1/32 Cherokee...
According to filings by U.S. prosecutors, Khalid began communicating online with fellow jihadists in the United States, Ireland and South Asia as early as age 15. One of them was Colleen R. LaRose, the suburban Philadelphia woman who called herself "Jihad Jane." LaRose pleaded guilty last year to conspiring to kill Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks. The artist had offended some Muslims by drawing a cartoon with the head of the prophet Mohammed on a dog's body.
Colleen not quite getting the American idea that we have the right to be offensive, and the corresponding right to suffer offense from others...
U.S. officials have said the "Jihad Jane" case is unusual because it involves a green-eyed, blonde American woman who boasted that her appearance and U.S. passport allowed her to conduct terror activities without drawing suspicion.
Unless the blonde starts boasting on-line...
"Today's plea, which involved a radicalized teen in Maryland who connected with like-minded individuals around the globe via the Internet, underscores the evolving nature of violent extremism today," said Assistant Attorney General for National Security Lisa Monaco.

During a short hearing at the federal courthouse in Philadelphia, officials said, Khalid pleaded guilty to a single charge of providing material support to terrorists.

Khalid's lawyer, Jeffrey Lindy of Philadelphia, said in an interview afterward: "This is saddest case I've ever been involved with in my career. He's a smart kid who understands what's happening. But how much can an 18-year-old brain comprehend about a life-altering experience like this?"
Enough to know he shouldn't have done it...
Khalid helped LaRose raise money and recruit other conspirators online "to wage violent jihad in and around Europe," U.S. officials said. In addition, Khalid helped LaRose hide a stolen U.S. passport and, officials said, hoped "he could personally provide it to the mujahideen."

Khalid also communicated with one of the plot's alleged leaders, Ali Charaf Damache, an Algerian living in Ireland. Damache, who used the alias "Black Flag," is charged with conspiracy to provide material support for terrorists. He was arrested in 2010 in Ireland on an unrelated charge and the United States is seeking to extradite him on the American terror charges.
We won't execute him. Promise that to the Irish. We'll just jug him forever in a SuperMax.
LaRose was arrested in October 2009, shortly after returning from a visit to meet Damache in Ireland.

The FBI arrested Khalid in July, when he was still a juvenile, but the case was not unsealed until September, when he turned 18. Under the plea agreement, he faces adult charges.

In a statement, Zane Memeger, the U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia, highlighted Khalid's youth.

"This case has demonstrated that age is not a limiter to threats to our nation's security," Memeger said. "Regardless of a defendant's age or background, we are committed to keeping our communities and our country safe through the investigation and prosecution of violent extremist activity."

Khalid was a legal U.S. resident, but, unlike his siblings and parents, he did not become a naturalized American citizen. As a result, Lindy said, Khalid is likely to be deported back to Pakistan after he finishes serving his U.S. sentence.
There's insult to injury...
Another blonde American woman, Jamie Paulin-Ramirez of Leadville, Colorado, was also involved in the case. She traveled to Ireland and married Damache. Paulin-Ramirez and LaRose arrived in Ireland at about the same time - early September 2009 - and met for the first time there. Paulin-Ramirez returned to the United States and pleaded guilty to a lesser terror charge.

U.S. District Judge Petrese B. Tucker in Philadelphia has not set a sentencing date for any of the defendants.

Mohammad and Ali charged as co-conspirators with Jihad Jane
2011-10-21
[BBC] The US has officially charged two men of conspiring with a woman known as "Jihad Jane" to recruit women and solicit funds for terror plots.

One of the two charged is Mohammad Hassan Khalid, 18, a Pak immigrant from the state of Maryland reported to have won a full scholarship to Johns Hopkins University.

Ali Charaf Damache, 46, an Algerian living in Ireland, was also charged.

Prosecutors said the US would ask Ireland to extradite Mr Damache.

Colleen LaRose, known by the internet pseudonym "Jihad Jane," admitted in February to plotting to kill Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who drew pictures of the Prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog. She faces a possible life sentence after pleading guilty to four federal charges, including conspiracy to support terrorists. She has not yet been sentenced.

Mr Damache faces up to 45 years in prison if convicted, while Mr Khalid could a 15-year term.

Mr Khalid met LaRose in an online chat room in 2009, when he was just 15, according to the indictment.

"This case demonstrates that we must remain vigilant within our communities to make sure that we bring to justice those terrorists, of any age or background, who seek to do great harm to our citizens," said US Attorney Zane Memeger in a statement.

Jihad Jane to change plea to guilty
2011-01-29
Colleen LaRose, the woman known as "Jihad Jane" on YouTube, has changed her mind about fighting government charges that she was planning to wage jihad overseas. Her attorney said "she is going to plead guilty" at a hearing next week in a federal court in Philadelphia.

LaRose was indicted on four counts, including conspiring to support terrorists and murder someone overseas. She is alleged to have been part of a plot to kill Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks. Five others were allegedly involved, but have not been named by the government.

LaRose also also faces charges of lying to a federal agent and attempted identity theft. She faces a possible life sentence.

A source says LaRose has been held in isolation from other prisoners since October of 2009. She spends 23 hours a day in her cell.
CNN says that as if there's something wrong with that...
Wilson would not talk about her situation other than to say "she's been doing remarkably well, considering the circumstances."

Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pennsylvania) said he's not surprised at her expected guilty plea.

"She's probably not the cream of the terrorist crop....[but] one doesn't have to be very bright to carry out an attack. That's why we take every one of these folks very seriously."

Arsonists target Mohammed cartoonist Lars Vilks
2010-05-15
THE house of Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who sparked controversy by drawing the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog, was targeted in an arson attack.

"The damage is rather minor. Part of the front is blackened and some windows were broken," police spokeswoman Sofie Oesterheim said. "The fire went out by itself."
Because everything that could burn had?
Police found glass bottles containing gasoline inside the house, which was empty at the time of the attack.

The arson attack came just days after Vilks was beaten while giving a lecture at Sweden's Uppsala University.

In 2007, Swedish regional daily Nerikes Allehanda published Vilks' satirical cartoon to illustrate an editorial on the importance of freedom of expression.

The cartoon prompted protests by Muslims in the town of Oerebro, west of Stockholm, where the newspaper is based. Egypt, Iran and Pakistan made formal complaints.

An al-Qaeda front organisation then offered a bounty to anyone who murdered Vilks and Nerikes Allehanda editor-in-chief Ulf Johansson.

Four men and three women, all Muslims originally from Morocco and Yemen, were arrested in southern Ireland in March over an alleged plot to assassinate the artist.

Mom says daughter held in Ireland in terror plot
2010-03-13
NO LINK: Tipper, please provide one ...
A 31-year-old mother from Colorado was one of seven Muslims arrested this week in Ireland in an alleged plot to assassinate Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, the woman's parents said Friday. Christine Mott of Leadville said she was told of the arrest of her daughter, Jamie Paulin-Ramirez, in the case by the FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies.
Jihad Jamie ...
She told The Associated Press that her daughter disappeared last September and later told her family she went to Ireland with her 6-year-old son and married an Algerian whom she met online.

Irish authorities only identified the seven as three Algerians, a Libyan, a Palestinian, a Croatian and an American woman married to one of the Algerians. They were arrested Tuesday, hours before U.S. authorities unveiled a terror indictment against Colleen LaRose, 46, of Philadelphia, who bills herself as "Jihad Jane".

LaRose is accused of plotting with others to kill Vilks because of his 2007 sketch depicting the head of the Muslim prophet Muhammad on a dog's body. The drawing provoked terror front Al-Qaida in Iraq to offer a $100,000 bounty for his slaying.

Denver FBI officials say they can't confirm that the FBI had contacted Mott about the case. The U.S. Justice Department did not immediately return a call for comment early Saturday.

The Wall Street Journal, quoting anonymous sources familiar with the case, reported on its Web site that Paulin-Ramirez was being held in the alleged plot.

Her stepfather, George Mott, said the FBI seized a desktop computer in late September but did not tell the family what they found. The Motts said they're concerned for the welfare of their grandson, who has been placed in the custody of Ireland's foster care system.

"This is about my baby," Christine Mott said. "We need some help to get this baby back. I'm concerned about my daughter but I'm concerned about our baby boy because he shouldn't be caught in the middle of this."

The Motts said Paulin-Ramirez announced to her family last spring that she was converting to Islam and began wearing headscarves.

"It came out of left field," Christine Mott said. "I knew she was talking to these people online... What caused her to turn her back on her country, on her family and become this person? I don't know how or why. All I know is she was in contact with this Jihad Jane. "The only thing I could think of is that they brainwashed her."

Christine Mott said her daughter was getting 4.0 grades as she studied to become a nurse practioner and was working a $30,000 job at Eagle Valley Medical Clinic in nearby Edwards.

Seven held over Swedish cartoonist plot
2010-03-09
IRISH police arrested seven Muslims suspected of conspiracy to murder over a reported plot to kill a Swedish cartoonist who drew the Prophet Mohammed with the body of a dog, they said.

The four men and three women were arrested in the southern Irish towns of Cork and Waterford following an international operation.

A police source confirmed press reports that they were Muslims arrested over an alleged plot to assassinate Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks, who has a $100,000 bounty on his head from an Al Qaeda-linked group.

"The operation ... is part of an investigation into a conspiracy to commit a serious offense (namely, conspiracy to murder an individual in another jurisdiction)," said a statement from Ireland's national police service.

It added that the operation involved law enforcement agencies in the United States and a number of European countries.

The seven arrested range in age from mid 20s to late 40s, police said.

Swedish newspaper Nerikes Allehanda published a cartoon on August 18, 2007 depicting the Prophet Mohammed as a dog to illustrate an editorial on self-censorship and freedom of expression and religion.

The cartoon prompted protests by Muslims in the western town of Oerebro, where the newspaper is based, and death threats for Vilks.

An Al-Qaeda front organisation offered $150,000 to anyone who slit his throat or $100,000 for his murder by other means, while they also offered $50,000 to kill newspaper editor in chief Ulf Johansson.

A series of 12 cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed published in Denmark's biggest daily led to riots in several Muslim countries in early 2006.

A strict interpretation of Islam forbids the depiction of Mohammed in any form.

Swedish artist goes into hiding following Al Qaeda death threat
2007-09-20
Almost a year and a half after 12 Danish cartoons of the prophet Muhammad sparked worldwide protest that left scores dead, Swedish cartoonist Lars Vilks has ignited similar controversy. After Mr. Vilks's controversial series of drawings featuring Islam's prophet with the body of a dog garnered attention in Sweden – art galleries refused to display them – Nerikes Allehanda, a Swedish newspaper, printed one in August. As with its Danish predecessor, the cartoon drew outrage from the Islamic world and has started a debate about freedom of expression. On Monday, the situation became even more serious, with Vilks going into hiding following a death threat from Al Qaeda in Iraq.
