Blueprint Polling found that 56 percent of Texas voters support Abbott, compared to 37 percent support for O’Rourke. An additional seven percent of Texas voters remain undecided ahead of November’s general election. These latest poll numbers are the first to come out since O’Rourke crashed Gov. Abbott’s presser in the wake of the Uvalde school shooting. During the presser O’Rourke interrupted, he told the governor, "You’re doing nothing," in regards to school safety. O’Rourke’s outburst prompted the Uvalde mayor to call O’Rourke a "sick son of a bitch." "He needs to get his ass out of here/ Sir, you’re out of line! Sir, you’re out of line! Please leave this auditorium.," the mayor told O’Rourke. "I can’t believe... you’re a sick son of a bitch," the mayor continued, "that would come to an event like this to make political issues." The latest poll numbers show that O’Rourke’s stunt backfired and harmed his gubernatorial campaign. Blueprint Polling surveyed 603 Texas voters from June 8 to June 10. The poll’s margin of error is 3.9 percent. |

Greg Abbott eyes a third term |
2022-04-05 |
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Gregory Wayne Abbott is attempting what only one other governor in Texas has done: win a third term. But the 64-year-old incumbent, previously the longest-serving attorney general in state history, must first convince voters that he deserves another shot. To do that, Abbott is painting his state as a bulwark against national Democrats' agenda on border enforcement and economic policy as well as school curricula and ![]() Betois a Latino nickname for people whose names end in "erto," like "Roberto" or "Alberto." He is seeking the Dem nomination for President in 2020 because he has nice hair and lots of teeth. He declined to seek re-election in 2018, instead running for the Senate against Republican Ted Cruz, running a campaign that drew national attention because of his skateboarding skills. A few months after he lost, he announced his campaign for President... in November. Speaking with the Washington Examiner at his office inside the Texas state Capitol in March, Abbott first emphasized the need to maintain Texas's economy, which would be the ninth-largest in the world by GDP if it were an independent country. "There's obviously so many issues," Abbott said when asked about his priorities. "You address the issues that are before you at the time. And one thing that we want to focus on is Texas has pretty much the leading economy of any state in the United States. Goal No. 1 is to continue that process because that brings prosperity to everybody in this state." The state's booming economy and the "Don’t Mess with Texas" individualism responsible for it are, in fact, drawing people from other states. The 2021 Texas Relocation Report, which tracked the arrival of new residents in 2019, found more than 500,000 people moved to Texas in each of the last seven years. That was before the coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ![]() pandemic, which led even greater numbers of West and East Coast residents to migrate down south. Texas was among the first states to ban vaccine requirements and oppose mask mandates. Texas was the second-most moved-to state in 2020, after Florida, according to Move.org. Despite being the second-most moved-to and moved-from state in 2021, it gained more people than it lost and is expected to surpass 30 million residents in 2022. His 2018 opponent, Lupe Valdez didn't dwell too heavily on abortion, but she lost too... , backing off his far-left stance on border security, gun ownership and other hot-button issues. The O’Rourke pivot is a glaring bid to turn out the party’s more moderate base and win over independent voters in the conservative state. Mr. O’Rourke, who ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Senate in 2018 and made a failed bid for the Democratic presidential nomination a year later, has been campaigning nearly nonstop to unseat Mr. Abbott after easily winning the Democratic primary on March 1. Polling shows Mr. O’Rourke consistently lagging behind Mr. Abbott, though only by single digits, leading some analysts to predict a close race. Since announcing his candidacy in November, Mr. O’Rourke has shifted his position on key issues, including gun rights, border security and school curricula. "I challenge Mr. Abbott to a skate-off!" The Abbott team says the shift, which appears to be aimed at attracting the state’s more moderate Democrats and independents, is a sign that Mr. O’Rourke’s campaign is struggling. "He’s been all over the place on all the issues," said Mark Miner, an Abbott campaign front man. "He’s on this extreme Texas makeover tour where every stop he comes up with a new position." Democratic strategists say Mr. O’Rourke has not flip-flopped but has refined his positions on some issues, including gun control. |

O’Rourke is pushing for corporate gun control even as 145 of America’s well-known companies ask Congress to take up more gun control. CitiBank adopted gun control requirements for customers in March 2018. Breitbart News reported CitiBank’s gun control policy set forth three requirements for "new retail sector clients or partners." Those requirements: (1) they don’t sell firearms to someone who hasn’t passed a background check, (2) they restrict the sale of firearms for individuals under 21 years of age, and (3) they don’t sell bump stocks or high-capacity magazines. |

O’Rourke followed that clip by dropping the same term on the live show. "The rhetoric that we’ve used, the thoughts and prayers that you just referred to, it has done nothing to stop the epidemic of gun violence, to protect our kids, our families, our fellow Americans in public places," O’Rourke began, listing a few of the more recent tragedies. "At a Walmart in El Paso where 22 were killed. In Sutherland Springs, in a church. One or two a day all over this country, 100 killed daily in the United States of America." "We’re averaging about 300 mass shootings a year," O’Rourke continued, letting the profanity slip. "So yes, this is fucked up. If we don’t call it out for what it is, if we’re not able to speak clearly, if we’re not able to act decisively, we’ll continue to have this kind of bloodshed in America. And I cannot accept that. We’re going to speak as defiantly and as strongly as we can but we’re also going to take action. Universal background checks, red flag laws, end of the sales of weapons of war and buying those AK-47s and AR-15s back so they cannot be used against our fellow Americans." |
