Italy’s culture minister backs Israel after calls to exclude it from Venice Biennale |
2024-03-01 |
[IsraelTimes] Gennaro Sangiuliano pushes back against open letter protesting Jewish state’s participation in art fair, saying it ’has the duty to bear witness to its people’ after October 7. Italia’s culture minister firmly backed Israel’s participation in the Venice Biennale after thousands of artists, curators and critics signed an open letter calling to exclude the Israeli national pavilion from this year’s contemporary art fair due to the war against Hamas ![]() in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppressionand disproportionate response... The online letter was signed by more than 17,000 people through Wednesday, including current and past Biennale participants as well as winners of the Turner Prize, an annual prize presented to a British visual artist. Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano expressed solidarity with Israel in a statement Tuesday, saying it "not only has the right to express its art but has the duty to bear witness to its people precisely in a moment during which it was struck hard by merciless terrorists." Israeli Culture Minister Miki Zohar affirmed Israel’s participation and thanked Sangiuliano for "his strong, professional support." "Art is a bridge between cultures and between people — and we will continue to firmly set out against attempts to boycott Israel in international forums," Zohar said in a statement. The Biennale ruled out excluding Israel or Iran, the object of a second petition, saying that any country recognized by the Italian government may request to participate. The letter, by an ad-hoc group called "Art Not Genocide Alliance," noted that the Venice Biennale previously banned South Africa over its apartheid policy of white minority rule, and excluded Russia in the wake of the Kremlin’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine. The group’s statement made no mention of the October 7 Hamas attack or the atrocities Death Eaters carried out. "The Biennale has been silent about Israel’s atrocities against Paleostinians," the letter said. "We are appalled by this double standard." Signatories include the 2023 Turner Prize winner Jesse Darling, who participated in the 2019 Biennale, as well as Faisal Saleh, the director of the Paleostine Museum US who said a proposed exhibit for this edition was rejected. Israel is among 88 national participants in the 60th Venice Biennale of contemporary art, which runs from April 20-November 24. The exhibition in the Israeli Pavilion is titled "Motherland" by artist Ruth Patir. Paleostinian artists are participating in collateral events, and will appear in the main show, titled "Foreigners Everywhere" curated by Adriano Pedrosa, the artistic director of Brazil’s Sao Paulo Museum of Art. |

Close to 9,000 people call for Israel to be excluded from Venice Biennale art fair |
2024-02-28 |
“Pay attention to us as we shriek ‘Ewwwww — Joo cooties!’” [IsraelTimes] Almost 9,000 people, including artists, curators and museum directors, have signed an online appeal calling for Israel to be excluded from this year’s Venice Biennale art fair and accusing the country of committing "genocide" in Gazoo...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppressionand disproportionate response... through its response to the deadly October 7 Hamas ![]() terror onslaught. "Any official representation of Israel on the international cultural stage is an endorsement of its policies and of the genocide in Gaza," says the online statement by the Art Not Genocide Alliance (ANGA) collective. Because being Socialist/Communist means hating Jews until your little clapping palms turn rosy from the effort — it’s a critical building block going back to Karl Marx himself. ANGA says the Venice Biennale had previously banned South Africa over its apartheid policy of white minority rule, and excluded Russia after its 2022 invasion of Ukraine.Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano says the appeal was an "unacceptable, as well as shameful ... diktat of those who believe they are the custodians of truth, and with arrogance and hatred, think they can threaten freedom of thought and creative expression." He says in a statement that Israel "not only has the right to express its art, but also the duty to bear witness to its people" after being attacked by "merciless terrorists." Yasher ko’ach, Genny! The Venice Biennale press office has not immediately responded to a request for comment.”Yeah, we hate Jews, ‘cause they all deserve it, even the babies and the pompom girls.” Signatories of the appeal include Paleostine Museum US director Faisal Saleh, activist US photographer Nan Goldin …whose work — when she has time for work in between bouts of actism — focusses (see what I did there?) on the multiple-letter subculture… and British visual artist Jesse Darling, who won last year’s Turner Prize. |

Meghan, Harry underestimated how low in Hollywood 'pecking order' they'd be: ex-pal |
2023-02-24 |
[NYPOST] ![]() ...That guy who married Meghan Markle. You know. The ones that didn't get invited to Michelle Obama's party?... and Princess Meghan Markle ...unlikable American former starlet married to the formerly likable Prince Harry. Chock full of lefty political opinions and not many brains, Markle's most important characteristic is that she is Black, even though she doesn't look it. Her mother, y'see, is half black and her father is white, which would make her a quarter Black. Once married, she was too classy for the Royals and she and Harry decamped to Beverly Hills, kind of like the Clampetts did, because she was so much classier than the Winsdors.... were ill prepared for just how low down the Hollywood "pecking order" they’d be, according to a former friend of the actress. TV presenter Nick Ede, who says his friendship with the former "Suits" star started years before she had her sights set on the palace, claims that the pair didn’t realize they wouldn’t be known as "Hollywood royalty" when they moved across the pond to Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,. "I think they came in and thought that the number one people on the block and they’re not really," Ede, who says he lost contact with Markle when she started dating the Duke of Sussex, told the Express. "They’re kind of quite far down really in that pecking order. And I think that’s been an issue with them, in that sense of stepping down." Ede, 49, claims the royals don’t carry the same prestige in Hollywood as other stars like the Kardashians, for example. "I think the thing is that you forget that in Hollywood, royalty isn’t somebody with a title," he explained. "It’s J.Lo, it’s Sharon Stone, it’s Beyoncé, it’s the Kardashians. That’s their royalty." |

Euro 2020 host Paola Ferrari in underwear controversy after 'Basic Instinct' moment |
2021-06-23 |
![]() The face of Italian Euro 2020 coverage has been compared to Sharon Stone in "Basic Instinct" after an X-rated leg-crossing incident — but she denies that she wasn’t wearing underwear, unlike Stone in the blockbuster movie. Rai presenter Ferrari was dressed in a long black gown with her legs crossed on the show. At one point, she switched legs, and some viewers suggested the 60-year-old had gone commando. But the experienced journalist has quashed the rumors, explaining she "prefers health and hygiene." "It has gone viral, they are using more VAR (for this incident) than on the field at the European Championships," Ferrari said. "It happened but it’s nothing serious." |

Sharon Stone Calls Cancel Culture the ‘Stupidest Thing I Have Ever Seen': ‘Give People an Opportunity' |
2021-03-30 |
On Thursday, the 63-year-old actress appeared on an episode of SiriusXM's Just Jenny radio show where she discussed her feelings on the controversial topic and why she thinks it can be counterproductive. "I think cancel culture is the stupidest thing I have ever seen happen," she told host Jenny Hutt. "I think when people say things that they feel and mean, and it's offensive to you, it's a brilliant opportunity for everyone to learn and grow and understand each other." The Basic Instinct star — whose new book, The Beauty of Living Twice, is out March 30 — noted that people should use their different experiences as a way to better learn about one another. "We all come from different ages, different cultures, different backgrounds, different things, and have had different experiences, different traumas, different upbringings, different parents, different religious backgrounds, different everything," she explained. |

Sharon Stone on Pennsylvanians, the Liberty Bell and the American dream |
2009-01-25 |
At a presidential inaugural gala for Pennsylvanians last night, actress Sharon Stone, a native of the Keystone State, stopped by to rouse the crowd about her home state. Here are excerpts of her speech: "Do you know that our state has more natural resources than almost anywhere else in America? We have oil. Do you know that Pennsylvania has the first oil well ever drilled anywhere in the world? At Drake's Well. We have oil. We have natural gas. We have water. We have lakes. We have milk. We have forests. We have football. ... We have anthracite. We have coal workers. We have railroad workers. We have factory workers. We have moms. We have single moms. Do you know what else we have? We have dignity. We have honor. ... When we came across the seas, we brought the Liberty Bell. We brought the Liberty Bell from another nation with us because we brought the American dream...." "That bell had a crack in it. And so you know what Pennsylvanians did when that bell had a crack in it? We melted it down. And we built it again. Because Pennsylvanians know what to do when the going gets tough. We fix it. We fix it. ... Because Pennsylvanians know it's not how you fall; it's how you get up. ... And you know what happened with that Liberty Bell when they did it again? It didn't ring. So you know what we did? We melted that sucker down again, and we built it again because that's what Pennsylvanians do.twice ,eh We don't give up when it doesn't work. We do it again. Because Pennsylvanians know what to do when the going gets tough. When we fall down, we get up. Hand by hand. Family by family. City by city. Country by country. ..." "We didn't say 'yes we can' just for this president. We said 'yes we can' for every family. 'Yes we can' for every child. 'Yes we can' for every state. We know we're world citizens. And do you know why we know we're world citizens? Because Pennsylvania carried that Liberty Bell over here originally from a place far away, from another country. We carried the American dream over here from another country. We didn't carry it over here just for a bell for an American dream. We carried that bell over here for an American reality. So I'm here to ask you a question. Are we going to ring that bell and turn that American dream into an American reality? And I'm going to ask you, can you turn that American dream into an American reality?" |

Battered Wall St tops Obama inaugural donors: study
2009-01-18 | ||
![]()
Bankers and hedge fund managers will mingle with Hollywood stars and Silicon Valley high-technology titans at the swearing-in ceremony for the 44th president, the parade down Pennsylvania Avenue and the balls and parties that follow. Special access and tickets are reportedly available to those who contributed $50,000 to the inaugural committee or who helped "bundle" larger sums from multiple individual donors, the center said. The committee refused to accept money from corporations, registered lobbyists, unions or political action committees. Entertainers such as Halle Berry, Samuel Jackson and Sharon Stone donated heavily, as did behind-the-camera moguls including Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Jeffrey Katzenberg, the center said, citing data downloaded from the Presidential Inaugural Committee's Web site. "While Americans are hoping for real change in Washington, many deep-pocketed donors are hoping money still buys them access and influence," said Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the nonpartisan money-in-politics watchdog group.
People with Wall Street ties -- 118 of them -- gave $3.6 million; lawyers gave $2.5 million; and donors from the TV, movie and music businesses gave $1.7 million, the center said. The center's analysis of inauguration donors was posted on its Web site at www.opensecrets.org.

French Oscar winning Left Wing Loon fits right in with Hollywood Moonbats |
2008-03-03 |
Actress Marion Cotillard sparked a political row yesterday after accusing America of fabricating the 9/11 attacks. The 32-year-old French actress, who received an Oscar last month for her performance as singer Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose, openly questioned the truth behind the terrorist atrocity in an interview broadcast on a French website. "I think we're lied to about a number of things," Cotillard said, singling out the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center as an example of the US making up horror stories for political ends. Referring to the two passenger jets being flown into the Twin Towers, Cotillard said: "We see other towers of the same kind being hit by planes. Are they burned? They [sic] was a tower, I believe it was in Spain, which burnt for 24 hours. It never collapsed. None of these towers collapsed. And there [in New York], in a few minutes, the whole thing collapsed." She added that the towers, planned in the early Sixties, were an outdated "money-sucker" that would have cost more to modernise than to rebuild altogether, which is why they were destroyed. She said: "It was a money-sucker because they were finished, it seems to me, by 1973, and to re-cable all that, to bring up-to-date all the technology and everything, it was a lot more expensive, that work, than destroying them." Cotillard's stardom and increased earning power looked assured following her Oscar win. But after her outburst, in which she also queried the 1969 Moon landings, a successful future in Hollywood appears to be in jeopardy. She said: "Did a man really walk on the Moon? I saw plenty of documentaries on it, and I really wondered. And in any case I don't believe all they tell me, that's for sure." Cotillard, who was born and brought up in Paris, made the comments on Paris Première - Paris Dernière, a programme broadcast a year ago. Celebration: Marion celebrated her win with Hollywood's A-listers - including Sharon Stone - at Elton John's party in Hollywood At the time her remarks were largely ignored, but their appearance yesterday on the French magazine website Marianne2 comes at a time when Cotillard's profile is sky-high. She is shortly due to fly to Chicago to star alongside Johnny Depp in Public Enemies, a gangster movie expected to be her first big money-spinner. Cotillard's film career began in Luc Besson's 1998 film Taxi - a huge hit in France but less so around the world. She is slowly becoming a household name in France, in a list most recently topped by her close friend Audrey Tautou and previously by women such as Catherine Deneuve and Brigitte Bardot. 'I think we're lied to about a number of things' Cotillard said, singling out the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center as an example of the US making up horror stories for political ends But Cotillard, who lives with actor and director Guillaume Canet, frequently tells interviewers she has no interest in money or prestige. Denying that she had any kind of "Anglo-Saxon ambition", she said she prefers to "choose roles which suit me". Despite her low-key image, Cotillard is an environmental activist who once worked as a spokesman for Greenpeace. News of her anti-Americanism comes as Franco-American relations appear to be thawing, following Paris's refusal to show support for the invasion of Iraq. President Nicolas Sarkozy insists he is pro-American, even supporting so-called "Anglo-Saxon" economic reforms. |

Ben & Jerry's founders endorse Obama
2008-02-19 | |
Our favorite cholesterol armed revolutionaries are at it again: BURLINGTON, Vt. - The founders of Ben & Jerry's endorsed Barack Obama on Monday, and lent his Vermont campaign two "ObamaMobiles" that will tour the state and give away scoops of "Cherries for Change" ice cream. "If there was ever a need for real change, and if there ever was a candidate to inspire us and make that happen, it's now," said Ben Cohen.
Echoing Obama, Greenfield said he and Cohen succeeded when they opened their ice cream shop 30 years ago in Burlington by doing things differently, instead of copying the "tired ways" of doing business. "What we saw is that when you want real change it's not a marketing slogan. You have to do things differently. And that is not going to be done by someone who's been involved in the system for years and years," Greenfield said. "It needs to come from inside and Barack Obama has it." Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and his wife joined the ice cream duo to announce their radio campaign backing the Illinois senator. Cohen initially supported John Edwards, who dropped out of the race earlier this month. Rob Hill, director of the Vermonters for Obama campaign, said he looked forward to getting behind the wheel of one of the two ObamaMobiles retrofitted Honda Elements. Iraqi Deaths Pain Sharon Stone
2008-02-19 | |||
![]() (I would have said "flaps her lips" but I'm afraid that usually innocuous expression might get me banned under the circumstances.)
"I'm against violence and stuff. I'm very sensitive, y'know." In her interview with Al Hayat, the actress also bemoaned what she called Americans' decision to ignore the deaths of so many Iraqis. "I feel at great pain when the spotlight is on the death of 4,000 American soldiers, while 600,000 Iraqi deaths are ignored," she said. "Or maybe it was a million! Or more! One of those rilly, rilly big numbers!" "War is not a movie, it is a tragedy of dead bodies, victims, the disabled, orphans, widows and the displaced." "If it wuz a movie, it woulda had better sets. And more love scenes. And much better costumes." Obviously a Soros/Lancet kool-aid drinker. Sluts protect their own, I guess.
Stone came to the region seeking answers for herself because, she said, the U.S. media has failed to provide Americans with the truth. "They're just tools of the neocons, you know." "I feel sad when I realize how much truth is being changed or obscured in the American media," she said. What stupendous arrogance. She might have more credibility if her anatomy has been obscured.
"And Venezuela's out, too!" In Dubai, Stone also campaigned to raise over $1 million for AIDS research and awareness about the disease which remains taboo in the Arab world. What burns me is that these dolts actually think they are enormously more worthy of attention and respect than, say, the shoeshine guy and the janitors in my building. They absolutely are not. Actually, I rather enjoy talking with our hard-working support staff, they seem to be the only other people in the building with any sense. Its worth noting that Albert Einstein liked to shoot the breeze with the kitchen staff at the Princeton faculty club, he did not hang out with entertainers. (Not that I'm comparing myself to Einstein or anything ;))
