13 Districts Fall to Taliban in 24 Hours: Sources |

[ToloNews] Sources said Saturday that the control of 13 districts — 11 districts in northeastern Afghanistan, one in the east and one in the south — have fallen to the Taliban![]() students... in the last 24 hours, the highest number of areas falling to the group in a day. The districts include Kishm, Darayim, Tishkan, Tagab, Wardooj, Shahr-e-Bozorg, Raghistan, Jorm and Yaftal in Badakhshan, Kalafgan and Farkhar districts in Takhar, Zurmat district in Paktia and Shah Wali Kot district in the southern province of Kandahar. In Badakhshan, three other districts — Yumgan, Arghanjkwah and Khash — recently fell to the Taliban. Some residents of Faizabad city, the center of Badakhshan province, said that festivities between security forces and the Taliban have reached closer to the city, leaving the people with concerns about their safety. "This is the 10th district that collapses one after another. The local government and the central government have forgotten them and are not paying attention to them," said Saed Hayatullah, a resident of Faizabad. Amidst concerning situation in Faizabad, the police chief of Badakhshan, Khalil-ur-Rahman Jawad is under treatment in Kabul as he has tested positive for COVID-19. "What we should do is to mobilize the elders of the ’resistance region’ and create history for the second time by the second generation of the resistance," said Nilofar Ibrahimi, an MP from Badakhshan. "They are faced with lack of logistics. The Air Force cannot address all areas. This is concerning," said Sayed Muqaddam Amin, a former military officer. Taliban Control Key Dam in Kandahar, Farmers Plead for Water |

The Dahla Dam is one of the main water sources providing water to agricultural land in seven districts in the province. But the Taliban's control of the dam has deprived farmers of irrigation water. Farmers in Kandahar said their gardens and agricultural lands will be devastated if swift action is not taken to continue the flow of water. The Taliban said that irrigation experts are allowed to come and regulate the water distribution from the dam to the farmers' fields. But the Afghan government has said that it plans to launch an operation to clear the area from Taliban control. Lands in Arghandab, Shah Wali Kot, Zhari, Maiwand, Panjwayi, Daman and Dand districts are dependent on the water that flows from the Dahla Dam. "Water is the blessing of God and we are Moslems, why is the government closing the dam, why are they destroying the country?" asked Hairan, a farmer in Kandahar. "It is now the season of growth of pomegranates, if water does not come, they will be affected," said Kandahar farmer Abdul Raziq. "The operation moves forward in a good way, our forces will soon get their objectives," said Ghorzang Afridi, the head of the security department at Kandahar police headquarters. Residents ‘Concerned’ as Clashes Continue in Kandahar |

[ToloNews] The continuation of festivities between Afghan forces and the Taliban![]() students... in at least six districts of Kandahar has changed into a big concern for residents of the province who say the group is trying to transfer its hubs from Pakistain to the southern province by mounting their attacks on government forces. Heavy festivities have continued in Kandahar between government forces and Taliban over the last few months. According to local officials, of 17 districts, Maiwand, Shah Wali Kot, Afghanistan, Zherai, and Panjwai are faced with a high level of threats. "People cannot visit their farms. People cannot look after their property due to the conflicts," said Ataullah, a resident of Zherai district in Kandahar. "We cannot go to our areas. Children cannot go to schools due to the conflicts," said Ali Ahmad, a resident of Zherai district. "The Taliban is trying hard to choose Kandahar as their hub. Previously, their key commanders were in Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... ," said Karim Atal, an MP from Kandahar. According to local officials, the security of Shah Wali Kot district of Kandahar is mostly under threat from Uruzgan and Zabul province while security in Zherai district is faced with security threats from Zabul and Uruzgan provinces. The Afghan National Army special forces commander in Kandahar, Brigadier Gen. Haibatullah Alizai, said the Taliban is trying to change the southern provinces into their hub, but they will not be allowed by Afghan forces. "There is an environment for their recruitment in south and southwest where they are supported financially by drug trafficking and it is their biggest interest," Alizai said. "They (Taliban) are helped from another side of the (Durand) line, that’s why they did a try, but they were heavily defeated," the acting minister of defense, Gen. Yasin Zia, said. The Afghan government has said that at least 1,100 Taliban were killed only in Arghandab district in Kandahar in recent festivities. |

According to the statement, the Taliban Wednesday night damaged most part of the road in Andlan area of Shah Wali Kot district in Kandahar-Uruzgan highway, which is the main road for citizens traveling to any of the provinces. The Taliban have previously committed such an act, damaging thousands kilometer of roads in different parts of the country, the statement added. But the Taliban did not immediately comment on the claim. |

The incident happened at 4:00 am in Shah Wali Kot district, as a suicide boom-mobileer detonated his explosives near the police HQ, the source said. The district governor's compound is also close to the police HQ, according to the source. Bahir Ahmad, a front man for the provincial governor, said: "We had information about a possible attack on police HQ and the forces were prepared. The jacket wallah was shot before he reached his target but his explosives detonated." Three coppers were killed in the attack and 14 others, including civilians, were maimed, he said.
