What will replace USAID?

[ColonelCassad] With Donald Trump's inauguration as US President, the White House began dismantling the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In early February, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio was appointed Acting Administrator of the Agency — head of USAID. It was expected that its staff would be cut dozens of times. After six weeks of analysis, it turned out that 83% of USAID programs were subject to official closure, as they spent billions of dollars on goals that did not meet US interests. Military observer Alexander Hoffmann on what the Donald Trump Administration will replace the agency with especially for VFokus Mail.

This federal agency was one of the main recipients of funds allocated by the US Congress to counter the international influence and "soft power" of US adversaries, which the administration of the 46th US President Joe Biden included Russia, China and Iran. What will Washington's "soft power" be like under Trump and what could replace USAID?

PARADIGM SHIFT
Rubio promised that the fight against “hostile propaganda” would remain among the tasks of the US foreign policy, but under his presidency all American programs that lead to political censorship or create conditions for it would cease. According to him, the Biden administration’s actions to promote “soft power” were extremely unpopular abroad and created unnecessary friction with other countries.

The US Secretary of State said that the team of the previous American president put ideology above common sense, which led to a distorted understanding of the world. Rubio described the activities of USAID as suppression of free speech and disinformation. The Biden administration, in turn, called any point of view that does not correspond to the views and ideology of the US Democratic Party, especially abroad, “disinformation”.

Thus, Washington’s foreign policy under Trump, according to Rubio’s statements, abandons the approaches of the previous White House team in promoting “soft power”, focused on imposing the ideological guidelines of the American Democratic Party under the guise of “fighting disinformation”.

However, the Republican Trump administration, just as the Democrats did before, places ideological affinity and its ideological priorities at the forefront of the criteria for allocating funds from the US budget for international development programs.

IDEOLOGICAL ALLIES
The reorganization of US “soft power” abroad could lead to the redirection of American aid to countries whose leaders share the views of Trump’s ideological allies and supporters. Such aid includes not only USAID programs, but also Washington-sponsored initiatives of the UN and other international organizations.

Thus, the selection criterion for programs promoting “soft power” that receive US funding may be whether a foreign country’s policies are in line with Trumpists’ views on family values, or whether they oppose the principles of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), which the Biden administration has been promoting internationally.

Rubio recently appeared on the American Fox News channel with an ashen cross on his forehead, which Catholic believers wear throughout the first day of Lent according to their religious calendar. This caused a major stir in the world, but also widespread support among parishioners of the Roman Catholic Church.

It is likely that such a gesture by the top official responsible for US foreign policy is addressed to all conservative traditionalist Christians in the world, and not just American Catholics, which underlines the new ideological guidelines of the White House. To a certain extent, the ashen cross on Rubio’s forehead can also be attributed to the manifestation of Trumpists’ “soft power”.
Or it’s just that Secretary Rubio is an observant Catholic and didn’t think anything more about it — no messaging involved.
INVESTMENTS INSTEAD OF GRANTS
Changing Washington’s approaches to the use of “soft power”, reorganizing US foreign aid and restructuring USAID were indicated as future actions of the Trump administration in the latest “Mandate for Leadership” prepared by the American conservative think tank Heritage Foundation. “Mandate” is a set of recommendations for a presidential candidate or head of state elected by the Republican Party of the United States.

This instruction was called “Conservative Assurance” and is more widely known as “Project 2025”. The recommendations set out in the collection suggest a fundamental reorganization of the United States in all areas subject to the authority of the country’s president.

Thus, “Project 2025” proposed to deprive USAID of its status as an independent agency responsible for US foreign policy and subordinate the organization to the head of the US State Department. This was done by appointing Rubio as the acting administrator of USAID.

As for the Agency's prospects, here too the recommendations of "Project 2025" provide an understanding of the fate of USAID and Washington's "soft power". The collection proposes to assign tasks to private business to promote US interests abroad through development programs. In other words, to use investments from American companies instead of grants from the federal budget.

WALL STREET'S "SOFT POWER"
During Trump’s first term in office, the US government separated a number of divisions from USAID responsible for American investments in low- and middle-income countries. These divisions formed the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). By now, this federal agency already has a portfolio of investment projects worth over $50 billion.

Last month, Bloomberg reported that the Trump administration was going to transfer tens of billions of dollars from the USAID budget to the DFC. The American president nominated Benjamin Black, the son of billionaire Wall Street investor Leon Black, as the corporation’s new CEO.

Even before he was invited to the position, Black Jr. himself called for the USAID budget to be redirected to the DFC in order to invest in business projects abroad instead of distributing grants. The new head of the DFC must be approved by the US Senate.

In addition, the Trump administration must receive permission from the US Congress to extend the development corporation’s mandate, which expires at the end of this year. The White House has already secured support from members of both parties in Congress to increase the DFC investment limit from $60 billion to $120 billion and empower corporations to invest in projects outside developing countries.

Thus, the Trump team has focused on “soft power” through the projection of economic power. The administration of the 47th US President intends to use investments as the main tool for spreading influence and promoting interests in developing countries. Such support, if we are to believe the “Project 2025”, should compete with the international initiatives of the main rival of the United States - China.

If the DFC receives a large part of the USAID budget, then grant funding from the American budget will be significantly reduced and will go to countries where the ideological allies of the Trumpists are in power. After this, USAID will become a secondary federal agency, and may even be abolished altogether.

AK-47-strapped, NYC gun nut from Tajikstan busted for supporting ISIS — after ex-wife rats him out for ''sham marriage'' to stripper
2025-02-27
[NYPOST] A machine gun fanatic living in the country illegally was charged Wednesday with supporting ISIS — after his ex-wife ratted him out for getting a ''sham'' green-card marriage to a Bronx stripper, The Post has learned.

Mansuri Manuchekhri, a Tajikstan-born truck driver living in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, funneled $70,000 to ''ISIS-affiliated individuals'' between December 2021 and April 2023 — believing that the money was going to the families of slain ISIS fighters, the feds charged.

He also allegedly boasted to his terror-sympathizer buddies overseas about his firearms prowess.

''Thank God, I am ready, brother,'' Manuchekhri, 34, texted a Turkish contact alongside a 17-second video of him firing an assault rifle at a target at a New Jersey shooting range, according to a federal complaint.

''I go for training at least once or twice a week,'' he boasted to the same man alongside a similar video, court papers allege.

Federal agents uncovered a photo on Manuchekhri's iCloud of him proudly pointing two AK-47 rifles into the air, court papers show.

The alleged terror sympathizer entered the country from Tajikistan in June 2016 on a non-immigrant tourist visa and remained in the country after it expired that December, authorities said.

He then married a Bronx stripper in a ''sham marriage'' in March 2017, yet his efforts to obtain legal status in the country failed because he failed to provide supporting documents, according to the complaint.

One of the men that Manuchekhri schemed to funnel the cash to was arrested by Turkish authorities for a terrorism attack car bombing on the Jan.28, 2024 Roman Catholic Church in Istanbul, the feds said.

Manuchekhri also told his ex-wife that he admired Sayfullo Saipov, the Uzbek national who committed an infamous terror attack in New York City in 2017, the complaint alleges.

Manuchekhri faces up to 45 years in prison on charges of conspiring to provide material support to ISIS, possessing firearms while unlawfully in the United States, and immigration fraud.

Berri rules out Israeli war, urges '7 to 10 days' of dialogue
2024-07-21
[An Nahar] Parliament Speaker Nabih Knobby Berri

...perennial Speaker of the Lebanese parliament, head of the Amal Shiite party aligned with Hezbollah, a not very subtle sock puppet of the Medes and Persians...
has ruled out a broad Israeli war on Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
while stressing the need to "stop the genocidal war that Israel is waging on the Paleostinian people."

In an interview with the Milan-based Avvenire newspaper, which is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, Berri added that "Lebanon does not need new agreements to restore calm and stability in the (southern) border area," noting that "there is a resolution issued by the U.N. Security Council carrying the number 1701 and Lebanon is committed to all its stipulations."

"The international community must press Israel to halt its violation of the terms of this resolution," the Speaker said.

As for the presidential vacuum crisis, Berri said: "Give me 10 days of dialogue among all parliamentary blocs and take a finalization of this juncture."
"Catered meals, of course"
"Dialogue among the blocs would be aimed at reaching an agreement on one, two, three or four candidates within seven to 10 days, in order to go to parliament’s hall and finalize the election with a parliamentary, constitutional and national quorum," the Speaker added.

All types of generation are working, one more block of nuclear power plants is connected to the network, and power is being built up. At the same time, certain restrictions remain in the power transmission system caused by damage to the main networks by systematic missile and unmanned attacks. Consumption limits have been brought to all regions, the most difficult situation remains in the central region and Kyiv, as well as in the front-line regions in the east and south of the country.

08:55 The General Staff announced the estimated losses of the enemy on the morning of December 22.

  • personnel - about 100,400 (+660) people liquidated,

  • tanks - 3003 (+1),

  • armored fighting vehicles - 5981 (+2),

  • artillery systems - 1978 (+6),

  • MLRS - 413 (+1),

  • air defense systems - 212 (+0),

  • aircraft - 283 (+1),

  • helicopters - 267 (+0),

  • UAV operational-tactical level - 1693 (+5),

  • cruise missiles - 653 (+0),

  • ships/boats - 16 (+0),

  • automotive equipment and tankers - 4615 (+7),

  • special equipment - 178 (+0).

08:41 Russia has already lost more than 100,000 personnel , 3,000 tanks and about 6,000 other armored vehicles in Ukraine, the General Staff said in a morning report . Over the past day, the Defense Forces repelled the attacks of the invaders in the areas of the settlements of Novoselovskoe, Stelmakhovka, Ploschanka and Chervonopopovka in the Luhansk region and Berestovo, Yakovlevka, Soledar, Bakhmut, Experienced, Kurdyumovka, Ozaryanovka, Mayorsk, New York, Krasnogorovka, Nevelskoye and Maryinka in the Donetsk region.

07:35 The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believes that Russia will not be able to significantly increase the army during the war, as Shoigu said the day before. The formation of such forces is costly and time consuming, and Russia was not able to fully staff its units and regiments even before a full-scale invasion and did not fully staff the new division, which it announced the creation of in 2020, analysts recalled. They stressed that the Russian economy is in recession and its resources to replenish the army have been significantly reduced after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In addition, the Russian officer corps is "gutted" by losses in this war, ISW points out. Therefore, Shoigu's statements were probably made to appease the blogging community, who accuse the Kremlin of not taking serious action. They also create informational conditions for conducting future waves of mobilization under the pretext of staffing units and strengthening the military power of the Russian Federation in the future.

ISW also believes that Putin announced an increased nuclear readiness to appease domestic nationalist audiences and intimidate the West. According to analysts, the Russian president's statements about nuclear weapons, in particular Avangard hypersonic warheads or Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missiles, do not at all indicate Russia's preparations for their use. The Kremlin regularly uses nuclear rhetoric to show strength to the far-right Russian community, which has accused the Russian Defense Ministry of not being decisive enough. ISW believes that Kremlin officials will hesitate to use nuclear weapons on the battlefield.

06:34 The Biden administration has introduced new restrictions on the export of technology for the Russian PMC Wagner.

03:56 Zelensky addressed the US Congress during his visit to the US . The Ukrainian president was greeted with a standing ovation. He said that next year will be a turning point: "This is the moment when the courage of Ukraine and the determination of the Americans will ensure the freedom of people who stand up for their values."

According to Zelensky, the battle for Bakhmut will determine how the war in Ukraine will develop further. Therefore, Ukraine needs US military assistance, in particular, Patriot air defense systems - "so that Bakhmut is not only a fortress that grinds the Russian army, but that - like the battle of Saratoga - the fight for Bakhmut changed the course of our war for independence."

The President also stressed that the lack of modern armored vehicles and aircraft in the Ukrainian army significantly delays the war and allows the occupiers to kill civilian Ukrainians. At the request of Bakhmut's defenders, he handed over the flag of Ukraine to the US Congress and said that this flag is a symbol of Ukrainian victory.

03:33 The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is allocating more than $375 million for Ukraine, Biden said at a joint press conference with Zelensky in Washington. These funds will provide food and cash assistance to more than 1.5 million Ukrainians, as well as help them stay warm.

00:50 Biden said that the war between Ukraine and Russia will not do without negotiations with Putin: "All politics is personal, it is about looking into the eyes. There is no substitute for sitting opposite each other and looking into the eyes. Is this a friend , or an enemy." At the same time, he expressed confidence that Putin would lose the war.

00:29 The ex-head of Roskosmos Dmitry Rogozin was wounded during the shelling of a hotel in Donetsk, there is no threat to his life, his assistant told the Russian media. Local publics report shelling of a restaurant where Rogozin celebrated his birthday. The persons accompanying him were allegedly wounded, as well as the "chairman of the DPR government" Vitaly Khotsenko, and his bodyguard died.

00:25 Zelensky said that for him, as a president, a fair world is "the absence of compromises on our territory and compensation for all losses."

"Zelensky and I have absolutely the same vision of the world," Biden said. He expressed confidence that the unity of the United States and allies in support of Ukraine will continue in 2023.

00:19 Zelensky said that he did not intend to convey any messages to Putin, because it is the Russian president who should now be interested in maintaining at least some kind of relationship with the civilized world. Zelensky called Putin inadequate and recalled how many times he lied about not intending to attack Ukraine. "He is no longer a subject of the civilized world," the Ukrainian president stressed.

00:16 Biden said that providing Patriot systems to Ukraine is not an escalation, but a defense. And if Russia had not attacked Ukraine, there would have been no need to provide these weapons to Ukraine.

Sri Lanka church seeks UN probe into Easter massacre
2022-03-08
[Dawn] The head of Sri Lanka’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday urged the United Nations
...the Oyster Bay money pit...
to investigate the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings that killed 279 people, calling the massacre a "political plot".
The original events transpired before our eyes here. The miscreants were associated with two ISIS-associated groups: National Thowheeth Jama’ath (NTJ) (also spelt Sri Lanka Thawheed Jamaat, Tawheed Jamaath and Thowfeek Jamaath), which had not only pledged allegiance, but had gotten training from ISIS experts, and Jamathei Millathu Ibrahim (JMI).
In an address to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith demanded a mechanism to probe the attacks, which have been blamed on local Islamic radicals.

"The first impression of this massacre was that it was purely the work of a few Islamic krazed killers," Ranjith said. "However,
facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable...
subsequent investigations indicate that this massacre was part of a grand political plot."

The Church has previously suggested that the attacks, which targeted three churches and three hotels in Colombo in April 2019, helped Gotabaya Rajapaksa win the presidential elections in November the same year.

The government has not responded to the Church’s accusations.

Ranjith, who initially supported Rajapaksa’s election as president, said there were attempts by the government "to harass and intimidate those who clamour for justice".

Catholic priests have been summoned and questioned at length by the Criminal Investigations Department over statements critical of the slow progress in investigations. "Nearly three years after the horrendous crime, we are still in the dark as to what really happened on that Easter Sunday," the cardinal said.

His address to the UN Council came a week after meeting with the pope.

Sri Lanka is on the agenda of the UN’s top rights body at the moment for a separate reason.

Probe: Catholic Church in France had 3,000 child abusers, two-thirds of them priests
2021-10-04
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] An independent commission examining sex abuse within the Roman Catholic Church in La Belle France believes 3,000 child abusers — two-thirds of them priests — have worked in the church over the past 70 years.

The estimate was given by the commission president, Jean-Marc Sauvé, in an interview published Sunday in the newspaper Journal du Dimanche. The commission has been investigating for 2 1/2 years. Its full findings are scheduled to be released on Tuesday.

In the interview, Sauvé did not give a figure on the number of sex abuse victims but said the report does include a new estimate.

Asked about the commission's work investigating child abusers, he said: "We evaluated their number at 3,000, out of 11,500 priests and church people since the 1950s. Two-thirds are diocesan priests."
A little better than a quarter...
He said 22 cases have been forwarded to prosecutors for alleged crimes that can still be pursued. More than 40 cases of alleged crimes that are too old to be prosecuted but that involve suspects who are still alive have been forwarded to church officials, Sauvé said.

"From 1950 to 1970, the church is completely indifferent to the victims: They don't exist, the suffering inflicted on children is ignored," the newspaper quoted him as saying. "The periods that followed were different."

He added: "Our objective is to furnish a concrete diagnosis of all the abuses, to identify the causes and draw all of the consequences."

Bishop quits church after falling in love with satanic erotica writer
2021-09-10
[FOXNEWS] This church official has chosen corsets over crucibles.

A Spanish bishop, known for supporting gay conversion therapy and performing exorcisms, has left the Roman Catholic Church after becoming smitten with a writer of Satanic erotic fiction, Silvia Caballol.

"I have fallen in love and want to do things properly," said the now-ex-bishop, Xavier Novell, according to a report by BBC, which picked up the story from Spanish media outlets after the news of why Novell quit broke last month.

In addition to widespread media attention, the 52-year-old’s decision has also led to much internal criticism within the church. Some of his former colleagues told the Spanish media that they believed Novell to be possessed by demons. The situation is "not a problem of celibacy but rather of infestation," one said, as reported by the National Post.

Before his scandalous resignation from the church, Novell was considered one of its rising stars, having become Spain’s youngest bishop in 2010 at the age of 41. His August departure reportedly shocked the religious community, although BBC reported that he had met multiple times with Vatican officials — even the Pope himself — ahead of his resignation.

Now in love but out of work, Novell is now looking for employment as a crop expert or agronomist in the Barcelona area, Religión Digital reported.

The woman he broke his vow of celibacy and commitment to Christ to be with, Silvia Caballol, is a divorced psychologist and erotic novelist whose titles include "The Hell of Gabriel’s Lust" and a trilogy called "Amnesia." Caballol’s work has explored themes of madness, lust, sadism, God and Satan. Her publisher describes her as a "dynamic and transgressive author [who] turns upside down our ideas of morality and ethics," according to the National Post.

Novell has admitted in previous interviews that his infatuation with Caballol is not his first: Before becoming a man of God, he fell in love with and for a time wanted to marry and have children with an 18-year-old girl.

Roman Catholic Church Affirms Teaching on Marriage, Media Hardest Hit
2021-03-16
[PJMEDIA] On Monday, the Vatican reaffirmed the Roman Catholic Church’s 2,000-year-old doctrine that marriage is between one man and one woman and that homosexual acts are illicit. Therefore, the Vatican stated that the church cannot bless same-sex weddings because that would lead to confusion about the doctrine of marriage. This should not surprise anyone with a basic familiarity with historic Christianity or with the Roman Catholic Church. The New Testament clearly condemns homosexual activity and Jesus explicitly affirmed the teaching of Genesis that marriage is between one man and one woman. The Catholic Church has a 2,000-year tradition of upholding this basic definition of marriage that, in historical terms, only came under fire yesterday.

Yet legacy media outlets reported the Vatican’s decision as if it were new and shocking. "BREAKING: The Vatican decrees that the Catholic Church cannot bless same-sex unions since God ’cannot bless sin,'" the News Agency that Dare Not be Named tweeted. "Pope Francis
...Argentine liberation theologist, born Jorge Mario Bergoglio. He was elected pope in 2013. Rather than setting up shop in Avignon, where he belongs, the first Jesuit Pope chose to reside in the Domus Sanctae Marthae guesthouse instead of the papal apartments. He is big on climate change, against consumerism, and in favor of throwing a blanket over homosexual activity within the clergy. He's not real sure about the Resurrection, about Christ's divinity, and a few other things that would have gotten him burned at the stake a few hundred years ago, but he's hot for a certain South American Earth Mother Goddess...
says priests cannot bless same sex unions, dashing hopes of gay Catholics," ran The Washington Post’s headline. CNN
...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for...
’s report described the Vatican’s statement as "combative," warning that the move "threatens to widen the chasm between the church and much of the LGBTQ community."

The legacy media and many American and global institutions have rushed to embrace the hyper-charged sexual revolution of recent years, a revolution that weaponizes the language of "tolerance," equates same-sex relationships with marriage, hints at polygamy, pushes nebulous gender identity over biological sex, and demonizes dissent from this agenda as "bigotry."

Pope Francis Calls for 'Structural' Change Activists to Take Advantage of Coronavirus Crisis in Easter Letter
2020-04-13
Yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.
[PJMedia] On Easter Sunday, Pope Francis sent a letter to leaders of social movements promoting "structural changes" to the "economy of exclusion and inequality." Among other things, he encouraged these activists to use the coronavirus crisis as an opportunity to spur radical change and launch a "humanistic and ecological conversion." He also endorsed the idea of a universal basic income (UBI), championed by former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang.

Pope Francis addressed his letter to the World Meeting of Popular Movements (WMPM), an alliance of Roman Catholic Church leadership and "grassroots organizations working to address the 'economy of exclusion and inequality' by working for structural changes that promote social, economic and racial justice."

In the letter, the pope argues that these activists are "invisible to the system. Market solutions do not reach the peripheries, and State protection is hardly visible there." Rather than encouraging philanthropy to reach these peripheries, Francis writes to encourage "you who are looked upon with suspicion when through community organization you try to move beyond philanthropy or when, instead of resigning and hoping to catch some crumbs that fall from the table of economic power, you claim your rights."

In this context, Francis endorses a UBI. "I know that you have been excluded from the benefits of globalization. You do not enjoy the superficial pleasures that anesthetize so many consciences, yet you always suffer from the harm they produce," he argues. "Street vendors, recyclers, carnies, small farmers, construction workers, dressmakers, the different kinds of caregivers: you who are informal, working on your own or in the grassroots economy, you have no steady income to get you through this hard time ... and the lockdowns are becoming unbearable. This may be the time to consider a universal basic wage which would acknowledge and dignify the noble, essential tasks you carry out. It would ensure and concretely achieve the ideal, at once so human and so Christian, of no worker without rights."
Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest!?!

Legionaries founder sexually abused 60 boys, religious order's report says
2019-12-23

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Sexual abuse of minors was rife among superiors of the Legionaries of Christ Catholic religious order, with at least 60 boys abused by its founder Father Marcial Maciel, a report by the group showed.

The report is important because for decades until 2006, including during all of the pontificate of Pope John Paul, the Vatican dismissed accusations by seminarians that Maciel had abused them sexually, some when they were as young as 12.

The order said the report, which was released on Saturday and covers the period since Maciel founded it in his native Mexico in 1941 to this year, was "an additional attempt (by the Legionaries) to confront their history".

Maciel, who died in 2008, was perhaps the Roman Catholic Church’s most notorious pedophile, even abusing children he had fathered secretly with at least two women while living a double life and being feted by the Vatican and Church conservatives.

Cardinal Angelo Sodano, 92, who was secretary of state under John Paul, was for years one of the Legionaries’ biggest protectors in the Vatican.
We are a sanctuary order. Unhand us you brutes !
Pope Francis accepted his resignation as dean of the college of cardinals on Saturday and simultaneously changed church law to limit the dean’s position to a five-year term, rather than for life.

HALLELUJAH! Evangelical Lutheran Church ordains first transgender Latina
2019-12-13
[WashingtonExaminer] The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has ordained a transgender Latina, marking a first for the 4 million-member mainline Protestant denomination.

Nicole Garcia, 60, was installed earlier this month as the mission development pastor of Westview Lutheran Church in Boulder, Colorado, which describes itself as "an affirming, welcoming community."

"Nobody can question my faith, my devotion to Christ, my devotion to the church. That’s why I’m the pastor here," Garcia told NBC News. "Being trans is secondary."

Garcia, who is also a licensed professional counselor in the state of Colorado, was born into the Roman Catholic Church but left Christianity for more than 20 years because of confusion about sexuality and gender.
