[DAWN] Militants have blown up a 24-inch gas pipeline in Balochistan![]() ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... 's resource-rich Dera Bugti district on Monday, an official said. A security official, who requested anonymity, told Dawn that forces of Evil had planted kabooms close to the gas pipeline in Pir Koh area of Dera Bugti district. "The explosives went off with a big bang, blowing up the gas pipeline," he said. The blast caused suspension of gas supply from Pir Koh to the purification plant. Frontier Corps and Levies personnel immediately arrived at the scene. The authorities faced difficulties in extinguishing roaring flames of fire. The blast rocked the entire area and caused panic among people. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast. However, corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds... the security official suspected Baloch separatists to be behind the attack. Dera Bugti is the hometown of late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti who was killed in an operation in Kohlu area of Balochistan on August 26, 2006. Sabotage of gas pipelines is a characteristic tactic of tribal forces of Evil and is frequently witnessed in Balochistan. However, corruption finds a dozen alibis for its evil deeds... the province also suffers from attacks carried out by the Taliban. |

QUETTA: Unidentified hard boyz blew up a gas pipeline in Pir Koh area of ![]() According to official sources, faceless myrmidons had planted an bomb near a 24-inch diameter pipeline supplying gas to a purification plant from Pir Koh gas field. The device went off with a huge bang disrupting supply to the plant. The sources said that many parts of Punjab would face gas shortage due to the damaged pipeline. Reportedly, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) experts have been called in and repair work on the damaged portion of the pipeline has been started. A case has been registered against the unidentified myrmidons and investigation is underway. No group claimed the responsibility for the blast till the filing of this report. |

However, they fled after retaliation from security forces. There was no loss of life or property. Security personnel also seized three anti-tank landmines from Pir Koh gas field and defused the explosive materials. Meanwhile, a Levies soldier was injured in a landmine blast in the Talango area of Kohlu. |

Around nine people were killed and 36 injured in violence in various areas of the country on the eve of the general elections. In Lahore, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate from PP-154 and his two guards were killed and six others injured when some armed men attacked them outside the candidates election office, hospital sources told Daily Times. Jinnah Hospital Medical Superintendent Zahid Pervez confirmed the death of PML-N candidate Chaudhry Asif Ashraf. Also, a thirty-year-old man was killed and eight others injured when some unidentified armed men riding on motorcycles opened fire at the election office of PML-N candidate Hamza Shahbaz. Also, aerial firing was reported outside the election office of PML-Quaid candidate Hamayun Akhtar Khan. No casualties were reported. In Narowal, 12 people were injured as the supporters of a PML-Quaid and an independent candidate clashed in NA-116. FC men: Separately, four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel were killed in an explosion in the Pir Koh gas field in the volatile Dera Bugti district when a remote-controlled bomb hit their vehicle. A pickup carrying seven troops hit a land mine, triggering an explosion that killed four soldiers at the scene, AP quoted local police chief Najmuddin Tareen as saying. The troops were on election duty. Sarbaz Baluch, a spokesman from a group calling itself the Baluch Republican Army, said it was a remote-controlled bomb that targeted the troops. He also claimed responsibility for the blast, giving a higher death toll of eight, according to AFP. One vehicle was blown up with a remote-controlled bomb, killing eight soldiers and injuring more than 15 others, the spokesman claimed. Quetta: In Quetta, ten people were injured in two separate incidents of hand grenade attacks on the election office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and a polling station, App reported. MQM candidate Abdul Ghani, five workers, and four policemen were among the injured. Also on Sunday, two armed motorcyclists gunned down a sub-inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department in Quetta, according to eyewitnesses. Two masked teenagers fired at policeman Shahid on Brewery Road and managed to escape, according to eyewitnesses. Separately, unidentified miscreants blew up a railway track in Quetta, leading to a suspension of rail services in the city. Two feet of the track near the degree college in Sarayab were destroyed in a hand grenade attack while another two feet of the rail track were damaged in Kali Zehri, according to Online. The Chalatan Express was stranded in Quetta while the Jaffar Express had to stop in Kolpur. Meanwhile, rockets were fired on three electricity pylons in Kohlu district of Balochistan, which suspended the supply of power to the Mahawand locality. Dawn News channel reported that around 20 attacks or blasts were reported from various areas of Balochistan. The Balochistan Liberation Army has accepted the responsibility for the attacks, the channel reported. |

Remote-controlled blast kills soldier in Noshki |

![]() According to details, a remote control bomb killed a Frontier Corps (FC) trooper in Noshki district on Saturday afternoon. Sources said that a team of FC personnel were traveling near the Chagai Flour Mill when unidentified people triggered the bomb. Subsequently, Muhammad Zubair was killed and six others, one seriously, were injured. In the second incident, unidentified persons blew up two gas pipelines in Dera Bugti district which caused suspension of gas supply to many parts of the town. One of the damaged gas pipelines, of 20-inch diameter, supplies gas from Pir Koh locality to Sui area, while the other 18-diameter gas pipeline supplies gas to Karachi from Sui township. An underground organisation calling itself the Balochistan Republican Army (BRA) accepted responsibility for blowing up the gas pipelines as part of its struggle against the federal government to provide the Baloch people their just rights. In Awaran district, three rockets were fired on the local office of the Election Commission of Pakistan and the telephone exchange. The rockets damaged the furniture and computers at the election commission office. Separately, two hand grenades were hurled at a police check-post in western district of Panjgur. According to a local journalist, the police tried to stop two suspected motorcyclists at Gramkan Mode, but they ignored the warning and lobbed two handgrenades at the police to escape arrest. However, no causalities were reported. |

In another incident, the miscreants blew up an eight-inch diameter gas pipeline at Sui gas field. A third attack was launched on the electricity transmission line between Sui and Dera Bugti. A rocket was also fired at the residence of tribal leader Maulana Amir-uddin while another was shot at a Pakistan Petroleum Limited pressure plant. No casualties have been reported in the attacks. |

Separately on Monday, suspected tribal rebels blew up a gas pipeline and two power pylons in Dera Bugti, said officials. The gas pipeline and pylons were damaged when home-made bombs planted by the rebels exploded, said a security official, but there were no casualties. Balochistan Liberation Army leader Wadera Alam Khan Bugti claimed responsibility for Mondays attack. He aslo claimed responsibility for two other incidents in which three electricity poles in Dasht and a gas pipeline were blown up. |

Two security personnel were killed and another was seriously injured when a landmine exploded in Dera Bugti district on Tuesday. Security forces were searching for landmines planted by militants in Dohi Wadh in the Pir Koh area when a soldier accidentally stepped on a landmine resulting in an explosion. Saeed and Javaid were killed while another soldier, Tariq, was critically injured. |

![]() Speaking to reporters via satellite phone from an undisclosed location, Wadera Alam Khan, claiming to be the insurgents' spokesman, said that 23 helicopters had started bombing Dhaman and Bambur since 8:30am on Monday. "Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti was directly attacked. Luckily he survived all attacks and is safe," said Khan, rejecting rumours that Akbar Bugti's grandson Brahamdag Bugti was killed in the attacks. Khan claimed that the insurgents had killed 45 security personnel including five or six pilots. "We shot down one helicopter in Dhaman. We also fired on three other helicopters but the pilots managed to land safely in Sui," he said, adding that the insurgents killed three soldiers in Pir Koh and another two in the Sui gas field area. Khan said the security forces had failed to inflict any casualties on the insurgents side. |
