Palestinian Authority slams Hamas over talks with US, urges it to resume ‘national sanity’ |
2025-03-14 |
[IsraelTimes] The Palestinian Authority condemns Hamas for holding negotiations with the United States regarding Gaza’s future, saying this harms Palestinian unity and violates a law against communications with foreign parties. In a statement issued on PA mouthpiece WAFA last night, presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh alleges the talks circumvent and “weaken” the Arab consensus in favor of Egypt’s plan for postwar Gaza, as well as the efforts to confront US President Donald Trump’s plan to displace all the Strip’s population. Highlighting the longstanding split between the PA-controlled West Bank and the Hamas-ruled Gaza, Abu Rudeineh urges the terror group “to come back to national sanity, end the intra-Palestinian division, and hand over the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian National Authority, so that the Gaza Strip and the West Bank would be reunited under the rule of a single national authority, a single law, a single weapon, and a single legitimate political representation.” |

Palestinians accuse Israel of ‘ethnic cleansing’ in West Bank, urge US intervention |

[IsraelTimes] Palestinian Authority says 70 killed this year, claims goal is ‘displacing residents’; IDF says it has killed over 50 terror operatives in the northern West Bank in recent days The office of Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase.... It came a day after the Israel Defense Forces said that it has killed over 50 Paleostinian terror operatives in the northern West Bank since launching a major counterterrorism offensive nearly two weeks ago. In a statement, front man Nabil Abu Rudeineh said the Paleostinian presidency "condemned the occupation authorities’ expansion of their comprehensive war on our Paleostinian people in the West Bank to implement their plans aimed at displacing citizens and ethnic cleansing." Later, the Paleostinian health ministry in Ramallah said there had been "70 deaders in the West Bank since the beginning of this year," with 10 children, one woman and two elderly people among the dead. The ministry told AFP that they were "killed by the Israeli occupation." The figures showed 38 people killed in Jenin and 15 in Tubas in the north of the West Bank. One was killed in East Jerusalem, it said. The IDF launched a major offensive, dubbed Operation Iron Wall, in the West Bank on January 21 aimed at rooting out Paleostinian terror groups from the Jenin area, which has long been a hotbed of terrorism. On Sunday it said so far over 35 button men were killed by troops during operations in Jenin, Tulkarem, and the Tamun area, while another 15 were killed in dronezaps. The IDF has acknowledged mistakenly killing several civilians during the operation, including a toddler. More than 100 wanted Paleostinians have been detained, and troops have seized some 40 weapons and neutralized over 80 bombs during the operation, according to the IDF. "We demand the intervention of the US administration before it is too late, to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against our people and our land," Rudeineh told the Paleostinian official news agency WAFA in a statement coinciding with a visit by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington. During his visit, on Monday, Netanyahu was expected to begin talks on the second phase of the truce with Hamas ![]() in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The next stage is expected to cover the release of the remaining hostages held by terror groups in Gaza, and include discussions on a more permanent end to the war, which was started by Hamas on October 7, 2023, when it led thousands of Death Eaters in an invasion of southern Israel, killing 1,200 people and abducting 251. Since October 7, 2023, troops have arrested some 6,000 wanted Paleostinians across the West Bank, including more than 2,350 affiliated with Hamas. According to the Paleostinian Authority health ministry, more than 858 West Bank Paleostinians have been killed in that time. The IDF says the vast majority of them were button men killed in exchanges of fire, rioters who clashed with troops or Death Eaters carrying out attacks. During the same period, 46 people, including Israeli security personnel, have been killed in terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank. Another eight members of the security forces were killed in festivities with terror operatives in the West Bank. Throughout the war in Gaza, the IDF has carried out more than 100 ... After falsely accusing IDF of killing Israeli civilians, PA says ‘priority now is not to engage in spats’ |
2023-11-21 |
[IsraelTimes] The Paleostinian Authority responds to a speech by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last night, in which he slammed the PA for falsely accusing Israel of carrying out the October 7 massacre at an outdoor rave party in southern Israel. In a declaration by PA presidential front man Nabil Abu Rudeineh, Ramallah says that "the priority now [...] is not to engage in spats and trivial issues that do not deserve a response," adding that "Netanyahu’s statements since the beginning of the aggression prove that this government seeks to perpetuate its occupation of all the Paleostinian territories." "President Abbas’s efforts are currently focused on stopping the barbaric Israeli aggression against the Paleostinian people and their holy places in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppressionand disproportionate response... , the West Bank, and Jerusalem," Abu Rudeineh adds. The PA’s Foreign Ministry additionally accuses Israel of fabricating media material to justify its offensive against the Gaza Strip. Yesterday, the PA Foreign Ministry falsely claimed in a statement that the Israel Defense Forces was responsible for the death of all the partygoers near Kibbutz Re’im during Hamas ![]() ’s October 7 onslaught. The claim originated in a detail from a Haaretz story published on Saturday that was widely picked up in the Arab press and shared on social media, distorted and taken out of context. In a video released on Sunday in Hebrew and English, Netanyahu responded harshly to the accusation, calling the statement "utterly preposterous" and a "complete reversal of truth." Netanyahu also said that PA President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase.... , "who in the past has denied the existence of the Holocaust, today is denying the existence of the Hamas massacre and that’s unacceptable." Following the Israeli backlash, the PA Foreign Ministry deleted its statement from its social media accounts on Sunday night, but Hebrew media said it was sent as a document to diplomats and to the United Nations ...boodling on the grand scale... The PA foreign minister did not respond to a request for comment. Abbas spokesman claims PA chief was quoting academics when he used antisemitic tropes
2023-09-11 | ||
No doubt. There is a long tradition of academicians making evil stuff up for political purposes, President Abbas, with his Soviet doctorate in Holocaust denial, being a subject matter expert on the subject. Still, rarely did anyone but the Joooos object before — it’s understandable that the Palestinians would be shocked at objections now.. [IsraelTimes] Nabil Abu Rudeineh condemns ’frenzied campaign’ against PA president, says his actual position is ’full condemnation of the Nazi Holocaust and a rejection of antisemitism’A front man for Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase.... said the PA leader’s recent statements using antisemitic tropes were in fact "academic and historical quotations." Abbas’s contentious comments were made during the Fatah party’s Revolutionary Council on August 26 but were only recently published in an English translation by the Middle East Media Research Institute, drawing a barrage of condemnations from Israel, the US and Europe. In a statement published Thursday by the official Paleostinian news agency Wafa, Abbas’s front man Nabil Abu Rudeineh said that "Mahmoud Abbas’s position on this matter is clear and unwavering, which is a full condemnation of the Nazi Holocaust and a rejection of antisemitism." "We express our strong condemnation and outrage at this frenzied campaign [against President Mahmoud Abbas] for just quoting academic and historical quotations," Abu Rudeineh said, giving no further details. Wafa said that Rudeineh was referring to work by unnamed Jewish and American academics. In his speech, Abbas repeated a number of antisemitic canards he has made over the years, including unfounded claims that Ashkenazi Jews descend from the Khazars, a Turkic people who according to a discredited theory converted to Judaism en masse, and that Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler ...late Fuehrer of Germany, founder of the Third Reich, currently communing with his pals Himmler and Heydrich. He is reincarnated every few days as a politician somebody doesn't like... had Jews slaughtered because of their "social role" as moneylenders, not because of enmity toward Judaism. "The truth that we should clarify to the world is that European Jews are not Semites," Abbas said, adding that Jews from Arab countries, on the other hand, are considered Semites. "They say that Hitler killed the Jews because they were Jews and that Europa ![]() hated the Jews because they were Jews. Not true. It was clearly explained that [the Europeans] fought [the Jews] because of their social role, and not their religion," Abbas continued, echoing allegations he has made in the past. "Several authors wrote about this. Even Karl Marx said this was not true. He said that the enmity was not directed at Judaism as a religion but to Judaism for its social role." Abbas’s assertions have drawn widespread condemnation. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan wrote on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter: "This is the true face of Paleostinian ’leadership.’ Just as Abbas blames the Jews for the Holocaust, he also blames the Jews for all the Middle East’s issues. While he spreads this pure antisemitism he also pays Paleostinian gunnies for murdering Israelis and publicly commends Paleostinian terrorism."
[IsraelTimes] p of Palestinian academics and intellectuals signed an open letter on Sunday to condemn the “morally and politically reprehensible comments” recently made by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas about the Holocaust and the origins of Ashkenazi Jews. The letter was signed by over a hundred “Palestinian academics, writers, artists, activists, and people of all walks of life,” mostly living in the US and Europe, and was publicized on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, by Dana El-Kurd, an assistant professor of political science at the university of Richmond in Virginia. The letter condemned Abbas’s distortion of the Holocaust in strong terms: “Rooted in a racial theory widespread in European culture and science at the time, the Nazi genocide of the Jewish people was born of antisemitism, fascism, and racism. We adamantly reject any attempt to diminish, misrepresent, or justify antisemitism, Nazi crimes against humanity, or historical revisionism vis-a-vis the Holocaust.” The second part of the open letter addressed the publicity fallout of Abbas’s statements on the Palestinian cause. “The Palestinian people are sufficiently burdened by Israeli settler colonialism, dispossession, occupation, and oppression without having to bear the negative effect of such ignorant and profoundly antisemitic narratives perpetuated by those who claim to speak in our name,” the authors wrote.
“Having held onto power nearly a decade and a half after his presidential mandate expired in 2009, supported by Western and pro-Israel forces seeking to perpetuate Israeli apartheid, Abbas and his political entourage have forfeited any claim to represent the Palestinian people and our struggle for justice, freedom, and equality, a struggle that stands against all forms of systemic racism and oppression,” the letter ended. Abbas’s popularity has been in steady decline for years, in the face of growing discontent among Palestinians at his autocratic style of ruling; his refusal to hold elections after his defeat to Hamas in 2006; the PA’s corruption and security cooperation with Israel, which many Palestinians consider a form of collaboration, his perceived inaction in the face of settlement expansion; and his weak governance in parts of the West Bank, particularly in the northern Jenin-Nablus area, which have paved the way for Hamas and the Islamic Jihad to encroach in the area.

Palestinian presidency warns Israel is ‘playing with fire’ after attack on Bab Al-Rahma at Al-Aqsa Mosque |
2023-04-27 |
[AlAhram] Paleostinian Presidency Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh warned on Wednesday that Israel is "playing with fire" following its attacks on Bab al-Rahma prayer area, an integral part of al-Aqsa Mosque. Israel is dragging the region into violence, escalation, and instability by insisting on the policy of collective punishment, killing, and attacks on al-Aqsa Mosque, reported Paleostinian News Agency WAFA. Abu Rudeineh said that "extremist settlers' storming of al-Aqsa Mosque and raising the occupation flag in its courtyards as well as the storming of the occupation police into Bab al-Rahma chapel and damaging its electricity power grids confirm that the bad boy Israeli government is looking for ways to escalate the situation. He added that Israel "is responsible for these dangerous policies seeking to destroy any regional or international effort to provide stability and prevent the deterioration of the situation." Meanwhile, ...back at the secret hideout, Scarface Al sneeringly put his proposition to little Nell... bad boy Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir stormed on Wednesday the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Paleostinian city of al-Khalil (Hebron) , WAFA reported. Ben Gvir's tour "comes within a series of continuous incursions of the occupation and its settlers into the 'Haram' since yesterday, Tuesday, as the settlers performed Talmudic dances inside it," to celebrate their so-called Israeli Independence Day, WAFA said. The Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in the Paleostinian Authority Hatem al-Bakri denounced Ben Gvir's "break-in" into the Ibrahimi Mosque, considering it a "flagrant violation of the holy places and places of worship." Al-Bakri said, "the occupation forces, by exchanging roles with the settlers, allowed them to raise the Israeli flag and candlesticks and launch firecrackers and fireworks on the roof of the Ibrahimi Mosque and in its outer squares." He added that this "falls within the framework of imposing complete Israeli domination over the Ibrahimi Mosque and its surroundings with the aim of turning it into a Jewish synagogue." |

Rockets fired at Gaza border towns following clashes inside Al-Aqsa Mosque |

It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppressionand disproportionate response... Strip fired rockets at several towns in southern Israel early Wednesday morning, following festivities between police and Paleostinians inside the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Hours later, an Israeli soldier was maimed in a suspected shooting near the West Bank city of Hebron, amid heightened Israeli-Paleostinian tensions during Ramadan and the start of Passover. The launches set off alert systems in Sderot and a number of nearby communities. Around 20 minutes later, further warning sirens sounded at a kibbutz in the area. According to the Israel Defense Forces, five projectiles were launched in the initial salvo, four of which were intercepted by air defense systems. The military said four more rockets were fired shortly after, all of which fell in open areas. The Sderot Municipality said one of the rockets struck a factory in the industrial area, causing damage. There were no reports of injuries. In response, Paleostinian media reported Wednesday morning that Israeli forces struck targets in Gaza, after which sirens were again triggered in a number of southern communities. There was no immediate confirmation of the strikes from the IDF. Prior to the sirens, the Gaza-ruling Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, terror group denounced the police’s actions at the flashpoint Jerusalem holy site as "an unprecedented crime" and urged Paleostinians "to go en masse to the al-Aqsa Mosque to defend it." People started gathering in the streets, with calls to head for the heavily guarded Gaza-Israel frontier for more Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... , another Gaza-based terrorist organization, similarly called for Paleostinian residents of Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Israel to go and gather around the mosque and confront Israeli forces. Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase.... ’s front man warned Israel against "crossing red lines" at holy sites, saying this could trigger a "big explosion." "We hold the occupation government fully responsible for any deterioration, and it must act responsibly and stop this absurdity, which will have dangerous consequences for everyone," Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in a statement carried by the Ramallah-based PA’s official Wafa news agency. Jordan, which controls the body that administers the Temple Mount, also denounced Israel, accusing police of "storming" al-Aqsa and assaulting worshippers. Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... ’s foreign ministry issued a condemnation that used nearly identical language. "The foreign ministry calls on Israel to immediately withdraw its police and special forces from the compound," the Jordanian statement said. According to police, dozens of masked youths barricaded themselves inside the mosque atop the Temple Mount with fireworks, clubs and rocks following evening prayers, while locking the doors and placing barricades at the entrances. That sounds like the work of the Northern Branch of the Islamic Movement, the militant arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in Israel. They regularly hole up in the Al Aqsa mosque with a stockpile of rocks and so forth for using to attack Jews who venture on to the platform or pray at the Wailing Wall below. The force said in a statement that officers tried to convince those inside to leave but were ultimately forced to enter the mosque, where they were attacked with rocks and fireworks.Police added that dozens of suspects were arrested and that "the rioters caused damage to the mosque and desecrated it." During the festivities, an officer was struck in the leg by a rock, according to police, who did not provide any details on his condition. Paleostinian reports said dozens were maimed, many of them apparently from smoke inhalation. "Unfortunately at the same time many police are working to allow freedom of worship while maintaining security, the law and [public] order... There are those who choose to riot and disturb public order. These same rioters are first and foremost harming the Moslem public which comes to pray at the mosque," the police statement said. The violence at the mosque came after officers shot and maimed a 15-year-old Paleostinian boy in the nearby Silwan neighborhood late Tuesday. Police said the teenager was among a group of suspects who threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at a security vehicle, with officers opening fire after they tried to open one of the car’s doors. The suspect was in stable, pH balanced condition and taken to the hospital for treatment, according to police. In the shooting near Hebron, the military said the soldier was taken to a hospital in Jerusalem after being struck by gunfire during festivities between troops and Paleostinians in the village of Beit Ummar. No word was given on his condition. The IDF said troops were searching the area for suspects. The Moslem holy month of Ramadan, which began last week and will end April 21, often sees elevated Israeli-Paleostinian tensions, with frictions already high this year in Jerusalem and across the West Bank following months of deadly violence. Paleostinian terror attacks in Israel and the West Bank in recent months have left 15 Israelis dead and several more seriously hurt. At least 86 Paleostinians have been killed since the beginning of the year, most of them while carrying out attacks or during festivities with security forces. In record, more than 2,600 Jews visit Temple Mount on Jerusalem Day |
2022-05-30 |
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian Authority, Jordan condemn Israel for allowing ’extremists’ — including far-right MK Ben Gvir — to visit holy site A record number of Jews visited the Temple Mount on Sunday to mark Jerusalem Day, prompting rebukes from Jordan and the Paleostinian Authority. According to the Israel Police, some 2,600 Jews were granted entry to the holy site, in groups of 40-50 in two waves in the morning and afternoon. Hundreds had arrived early in the morning to wait for a chance to tour the site, and many more did not get in. The figure was an all-time record, according to Hebrew media reports. It smashed what was previously considered the record, on the fast day of Tisha B’Av in August 2019, when some 1,700 Jews visited. Among those who visited the site on Sunday was far-right MK Itamar Ben Gvir. The Temple Mount — which also houses the al-Aqsa Mosque — is administered by the Waqf, a religious trust run and funded by Jordan. The site is the holiest place for Jews, as the place of biblical temples, and al-Aqsa is the third holiest shrine in Islam, turning the area into a major flashpoint in the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict. A spokesperson for Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ![]() said Israel was "playing with fire" by allowing "settlers to desecrate holy sites." "[Israel] is disregarding international law and considers itself above the law," presidential spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said, according to the official WAFA news agency. Abu Rudeineh called for "the international community, especially the US administration, to assume their responsibilities regarding what is taking place." Meanwhile, ...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter wished he had thought to pack sun block... Jordan’s foreign ministry denounced Israel for allowing Ben Gvir and other Jewish "extremists" to visit the holy site. "The Foreign Ministry spokesperson demanded of Israel that it cease all practices and violations of the al-Aqsa Mosque," the ministry said in a statement. The Jordanians also condemned the "provocative, escalatory" Flag March that began later on Sunday, warning it could lead to an eruption of violence. Though it is a national holiday, Jerusalem Day, which marks Israel’s conquest of the Old City and East Jerusalem from Jordan in the 1967 Six Day War, is celebrated nowadays mainly by national-religious Jews. Most prominently, youths parade through the Old City for the contentious Flag March. Israeli officials have worked to dispel false rumors that the parade route includes the Temple Mount. Under an increasingly frayed arrangement known as the status quo, Jews are generally allowed to visit the Temple Mount during limited hours, but not pray there or perform other acts of worship that can be seen as a provocation to Moslems. Prior to the arrival of the Jewish visitors at the site Sunday, dozens of Paleostinians barricaded themselves inside al-Aqsa Mosque and hurled rocks at security forces stationed outside. In an apparent violation of the so-called status quo, several Jewish visitors who visited the mount raised Israeli flags. The Hamas, a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth", terror group has previously signaled that the waving of the Israeli flag at the holy site, which includes the al-Aqsa Mosque, could trigger a |

Strip, the West Bank and abroad are heading to Cairo to participate in a new round of talks in a bid to overcome obstacles facing the upcoming Paleostinian general elections. The factions arrived at the Rafah crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt on their way to Cairo, while other delegations have left the West Bank via Jordan, and will be joined by delegations residing outside the Paleostinian territories. The parliamentary elections are set to be held on 22 May and the presidential elections have been set for 31 July. The two-day talks are scheduled to commence on Tuesday after the first round that was held in Cairo last month and resulted in an agreement on the mechanisms for holding the elections. This second round of dialogue focuses mainly on the elections for the National Council and the reactivation and building of the Paleostine Liberation Organisation (PLO). Last month, the Paleostinian factions held a meeting in Cairo, during which they discussed several issues related to the Paleostinian elections and reached an agreement to hold another meeting in March. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine confirmed earlier that the Cairo-based meeting scheduled for this month to discuss the issue of the National Council will be held on time, dismissing reports that the meeting would be postponed until after the parliamentary elections. There would be no backtracking on the decision to hold the general elections, presidential front man Nabil Abu Rudeineh said on Monday. Speaking to Voice of Paleostine, Abu Rudeineh announced that the decision to hold the general elections would not be reversed because elections are a "democratic and a popular requirement," while affirming that they would be held based on clear and proper rules. He added that the Fatah movement is determined to run on one unified electoral list in the first full presidential and parliamentary elections in 15 years. |

Palestinians denounce inclusion of settlements in US-Israel scientific pact |
2020-10-31 |
[IsraelTimes] In move seen by some as precursor to future West Bank annexation, Washington removes geographic restrictions from three 1970s science cooperation agreements. Paleostinian Authority President the ineffectual Mahmoud Abbas ...aka Abu Mazen, a graduate of the prestigious unaccredited Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow with a doctorate in Holocaust Denial. While no Yasser Arafat, he has his own brand of evil, just a little more lowercase.... on Wednesday condemned the US-Israel agreement to extend scientific cooperation to areas captured by Israel in the 1967 Six Day War, describing it as a first step toward American recognition of Israeli illusory sovereignty in the West Bank. "This is a dangerous and unacceptable precedent, which we cannot stay silent," Abbas’s official spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in a statement. "We reject this American policy which attempts to help Israel consolidate its occupation of Paleostinian lands. None of these policies will give any legitimacy to anyone. The settlements will one day disappear," Abu Rudeineh added. Israel and the US on Wednesday signed an agreement that removed all previous geographic restrictions from their scientific cooperation, a move that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called "a victory over all the organizations and countries that boycott Judea and Samaria," using the Biblical term for the West Bank. During a festive ceremony at Ariel University in the heart of the West Bank, Netanyahu and US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman signed a protocol that amended three 1970s agreements that form the basis for bilateral scientific cooperation. Those agreements had stipulated that cooperative projects "may not be conducted in geographical areas which came under the administration of the State of Israel after June 5, 1967, and may not relate to subjects primarily pertinent to such areas." The Paleostinian Liberation Organization said in response to the move that "banning settlement products and services and taking action on companies operating in occupied Paleostine is an international community’s obligation to stop Israeli settlements." The PLO added that "attempts by the Trump administration to normalize [settlemetnts], as clearly stated in their annexation plan (the so-called Peace to Prosperity plan), are an encouragement for Israel to perpetuate its control over the land and the people of Paleostine and deny them their inalienable right to self-determination." Senior PLO official Hanan Ashrawi said the move was "a clear recognition of Israel’s annexation of Paleostinian territory," and that it "upgrades the Trump administration’s involvement in Israeli war crimes to active and willful participation." Under President Donald Trump ![]() , the US has recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and Israeli illusory sovereignty over the Golan. It has also reversed Washington’s longstanding position on West Bank settlements, arguing they are not necessarily violating international law. "Plainly, this geographic restriction within these three agreements was an anachronism," Friedman said at Wednesday’s ceremony. "We are righting an old wrong, and we are strengthening yet again the unbreakable bond between our two countries." The ambassador stressed that the US and Israel will continue to fund projects based on quality but will no longer refuse support for researchers because of their postal code. "We are depoliticizing a process that should never have been politicized in the first place," he said. |

Palestinians Are Enraged at Trump's Israel-UAE Deal, Which Means It Must Be Good |
2020-08-14 |
Israel currently has peace agreements with only two Muslim Arab states, Egypt and Jordan, and those are cold friendships indeed, marred by a steady flow of hateful anti-Israel rhetoric in both Arab countries, and worse: Ahlam Tamimi, who aided the 2001 jihad massacre at a Sbarro’s pizza parlor in Jerusalem in which 15 people were murdered and 130 wounded, lives in Jordan, where she is a national hero and a popular television host. The United States has filed charges against her, as Americans were killed in the attack, but Jordan refuses to extradite her. Words are cheap, but the UAE-Israel rapprochement doesn’t seem, at least at this point, to be a grudging, reluctant, cold peace at all. The official statement announces that "delegations from Israel and the UAE will meet in the coming weeks to sign bilateral agreements regarding investment, tourism, direct flights, security, telecommunications, technology, energy, healthcare, culture, the environment, the establishment of reciprocal embassies, and other areas of mutual benefit. Opening direct ties between two of the Middle East’s most dynamic societies and advanced economies will transform the region by spurring economic growth, enhancing technological innovation, and forging closer people-to-people relations." To be sure, the agreement is based on a quid pro quo that takes the wind out the sails of Palestinian outrage: "As a result of this diplomatic breakthrough and at the request of President Trump with the support of the UAE, Israel will suspend declaring sovereignty over areas outlined in the President’s Vision for Peace and focus its efforts now on expanding ties with other countries in the Arab and Muslim world. The US, Israel and the UAE are confident that additional diplomatic breakthroughs with other nations are possible, and will work together to achieve this goal." Now if only the Qatari clan leadership gave up supporting terrorism... |

US drops 'Israeli-occupied' designation from Golan Heights |
2019-03-15 |
![]() Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a spokesperson for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said in a statement that the US decision to drop the status of occupation from the Palestinian territories and the Syrian Golan Heights is "a continuation of the hostile approach of the American administration toward our Palestinian people and is contrary to all UN resolutions." It is noteworthy that the Palestinian Authority (PA) has been boycotting the US administration since December 2017 when US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and then moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in May 2018. |
