’s leader Mullah Abdullah Abdul Ghani Baradar urged the United States to abide by its commitments to withdraw US forces from Afghanistan in accordance with the US-Taliban peace deal signed between the two sides in Doha last February.

The Taliban big shot has also said that the group is committed to act upon the US-Taliban peace agreement, stating that he is confident that the Afghans will finally agree on an Islamic system and sustainable peace and security through a political settlement.

"We are fully confident that the Afghans themselves can achieve the establishment of an Islamic government and enduring peace and security through intra-Afghan dialogue," an excerpt from the letter says.

Mateen Bek, a member of the peace negotiating team representing the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan in the talks with the Taliban, has said that the Taliban--after travelling to Islamabad--are making unnecessary excuses to attend the peace negotiation table.

"Before going to Islamabad, they were looking a bit serious, their colleagues who have not travelled to Pakistain had raised optimism in their talks with our colleagues, but their gesture changed after returning from Islamabad," said Mateen Bek, a member of the peace negotiating team, representing the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan in the talks with the Taliban.

"Now that a year has passed since the signing of the Doha agreement, we urge the American side to remain committed to the full implementation of this accord," Baradar said in the letter.

In the letter, the Taliban also said that they will respect women’s rights in accordance to the Islamic principles.

"Just as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has clarified in many instances that it is committed to upholding and guaranteeing all rights of women afforded to them by Islamic law, we would like to once again assure the international community in this regard," the letter said.

Why have the talks stalled?

"The Doha meeting is losing its importance because of the review that is expected to occur in the US-Taliban agreement," said Faiz Mohammad Zaland, a university lecturer.

"The delegation of the Islamic republic of Afghanistan is continuing its consultations with the international community and international organizations," said Ghulam Farooq Majroh, a member of the peace negotiating team, representing the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan in the talks with the Taliban.

Based on the US-Taliban agreement, the US forces must leave the country until the end of May.

But the Afghan government has said that currently the conditions are not suitable for the complete withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.

MoI Releases List of Taliban Commanders Killed in South

According to the ministry, 20 of the commanders were from various parts of Helmand and were leading groups of 45 to 100 members.

Rahmatullah, Habibullah, Mawlawi Musa Jan, Qari Mohammad, Rohullah, Mullah Nek Mohammad, Atiqullah, Mullah Sardar, Mullah Anargul, Wali Mohammad, Mullah Idris, Mullah Samad, Sharifullah, Mullah Mohammad Isa and Mullah Amanullah are the Taliban commanders killed in Helmand, according to the ministry.

The list shows that 10 Taliban commanders who were killed in Helmand came from Uruzgan, Kandahar and Ghazni to help their fighters in Helmand.

The 10 commanders include Mullah Mohibullah, Mullah Shah Wali, Mullah Ishaq, Abdul Rahman, Mullah Payenda, Mullah Baridad, Mullah Juma Gul, Mullah Mustafa, Mullah Amanullah, Mullah Khairkhwah, Mullah Toryalai, Ejaz-Ul-Haq, and Badri Janan.

The data by the Ministry of Interior Affairs shows that 40 Taliban commanders were killed in Kandahar.

Presenting the list to news hounds, Interior Affairs Ministry’s front man said 152 Pak fighters were killed in Helmand province.

The list shows that 65 bodies of Taliban fighters were transferred across the Durand Line, 35 bodies were taken to Farah province, 54 to Helmand, 13 to Zabul and 13 bodies were taken to Uruzgan province.

At least 30 Taliban commanders were maimed in Helmand festivities, Arian said, adding that Taliban attacks were repelled by Afghan forces in Helmand, Kandahar and other southern provinces under the active defense framework.

The war in the south was led by Chief of Army Staff Gen. Mohammad Yasin Zia.

The festivities are ongoing in parts of Kandahar, Helmand and other southern provinces, but Arian said the Taliban has been defeated the southern province.

4 senior Taliban commanders killed during the latest clashes in Faryab province

[KhaamaPress] At least 18 Talibs including four key commanders of the group were killed or maimed during the festivities with the Afghan armed forces in northern Faryab province.

The 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan military in a statement said at least 11 Talibs were killed and 7 others were maimed during the latest festivities which took place in the past 12 hours in Dawlatabad, Khwaja Sabzposh, and Qaisar districts.

The statement further added that four key commanders of the group identified as Mullah Abdullah, Qari Gulbuddin, Qari Mohammadullah, and Mullah Zareef are among those killed.

According to the Afghan army officials in the North, the incident has taken place in the vicinity of Khanabad district, one of the main volatile districts of the province.

The officials in 10th Pamir Division of the Afghan Army said the gathering was organized in Yamchi Buyen village.

The officials further added that ten Taliban bully boyz including their key leaders identified as Mullah Osman, Mullah Abdul Hussain, Qari Khalid, Mullah Zahir, Din Mohammad, and Mullah Abdullah were among those killed.

Taliban leader denies being wounded in internal dispute

[FOXNEWS] Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansoor has released a rare audio recording in which he denies claims by an Afghan official that he was maimed in a shootout during a meeting with other commanders in Pakistain last week.

In a 17-minute audio recording sent to media by the Taliban late Saturday, Mansoor dismissed what he called "baseless claims" that were "part of the agenda of the enemy." The Taliban had earlier sent The News Agency that Dare Not be Named a two-minute version of the recording.

The voice resembled that in previous recordings issued by Mansoor, who succeeded longtime Taliban leader Mullah Mohammad Omar after his death was announced last summer. Mansoor has since faced internal challenges to his leadership, including by a breakaway faction that has battled fighters loyal to him.

"I haven't seen Kuchlak in years," he said, referring to an area near the Pak city of Quetta where the dispute was said to have taken place. He ordered his fighters to pay no heed to "baseless rumors" and to continue waging jihad, or holy war, against the Afghan government.

Bodies of two kidnapped Shia Afghans recovered

[Iran Press TV] Afghan authorities have recovered in the southern province of Zabul the bodies of two Shia Moslems, whom suspected Talibs had kidnapped along with more than two dozen others in late February.

Provincial council chief, Ata Mohammad Haqbin, said the corpses were found in Kakar (also known as Khak-e Afghan) district of the province, located over 400 kilometers (250 miles) south of the capital, Kabul, on Monday.

Haqbin added that one of the victims had been murdered by his captors, while the other one was an old man who had apparently died of fatigue.

Mohaqiq Confirms Daesh Abducted 31 Passengers

[Tolo News] For the first time a senior Afghan government official has confirmed that the 31 passengers kidnapped in Zabul recently were taken by Daesh hard boy group.

The second deputy chief executive Mohammad Mohaqiq told News Agency that Dare Not be Named (AP) on Saturday that two former Taliban leaders, Mullah Abdullah Kaka and his deputy Mullah Mansur Dadullah, who switched allegiance to Daesh, were behind the abduction of 31 passengers belonging to Hazara ethnic minority group.

The passengers, who had been travelling on Kabul-Kandahar highway in southern Zabul province, were kidnapped by unknown armed masked men on February 24.
After the incident, eyewitnesses and drivers told TOLOnews that the passengers were driven away to Khak Afghan district of Zabul.

Despite operations by the security forces in Khak Afghan district, which left more than 50 holy warriors dead, the whereabouts of the abductees is still unknown.

"Daesh wants to create a problem here, but the people of Afghanistan are careful about it and they will not allow this to happen, that foreigners come here to create fratricides and crises," Mohaqiq said.

Earlier, in an exclusive interview with TOLOnews, Mohaqiq said that the abductees were alive and had been split up into groups of three or four and were being held in different mountainous areas.

He admitted that efforts by the government for their release had not been successful.

However,

speaking to AP, he vowed that the government will do everything possible to secure their release, "from negotiations to fighting".

But the families of those kidnapped are emotional and have little hope. They accuse the government of not doing enough to release their loved ones.

"These days our only hope is their release, we only hope that they will come back one day, but right now our only hope is towards God," Ismail Kayhan, son of an kidnapped man told AP.

The commander was active in the Pashtun Zarghun district and organised anti-government activities there, he added.

Herat officials had previously accused the commander of kidnapping and of terrorist activities. The commander survived several operations conducted by Herat security officials to capture him.

The commander and his men gave their weapons to the Zone Four Border Police in Herat province, officials added.

A week ago more than 20 Death Eaters in Herat laid down their weapons and surrendered to authorities.

Taliban Commander Arrested in Helmand Province

[Tolo News] A Taliban capo was jugged by Afghan forces in southern Helmand province, Afghan National Security said in a statement on Monday.

The commander named Mullah Abdullah who had moved to Helmand from Dehzak village of Dehrawood district of Uruzgan, was jugged in Helmand province, added the statement.

The Afghan National Directorate of Security in a statement said they have also jugged three bombing planners in western Farah province.

Provincial officials said the bombing planners worked for Mullah Abdul Qadir, a Taliban capo in Farah.

Afghan and foreign forces have recently increased their military operations in the country's volatile regions.

Militants usually use improvised bombs in Helmand province to target Afghan and foreign forces.
