Shameful: After debate, Oxford Union votes Israel is ‘apartheid’ state committing ‘genocide’ |
2024-11-30 |
[IsraelTimes] Controversial event at prestigious UK university results in 278 votes in favor, 59 votes against; Arab Israeli speaker removed after he calls audience ‘terrorist supporters’ A controversial debate held by the Oxford Union that discussed whether Israel is an "apartheid state responsible for genocide" devolved into a yelling match between speakers and attendees on Thursday. The event took place under tight security, as protesters demonstrated outside the building. After the debate, the union voted on the proposition, "This House Believes Israel is an apartheid state responsible for genocide," with 278 votes in favor and 59 votes against. The Oxford Union is a student society located in Oxford, England, and is made up almost entirely of students at the prestigious Oxford University, widely regarded as one of the best institutes for higher education in the world. Thursday’s debate featured several prominent speakers on both sides of the topic, including pro-Israel advocates Natasha Hausdorff, a British lawyer, Jonathan Sacerdoti, a British journalist who covers the UK and Europa ...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum... for i24 News, as well as Arab Israeli activist Yoseph Haddad, and former Hamas ![]() member-turned Israeli spy Mosab Hassan Yusef. Arguing against Israel were US political scientist and anti-Israel activist Norman Finkelstein, Israeli-American activist and author Miko Peled, Paleostinian-American author Susan Abulhawa, and Mohammed El-Kurd, a Paleostinian writer and poet. According to Oxford University’s student newspaper, Cherwell, the debate featured intense heckling and argument, with one audience member calling Sacerdoti a "sick motherfucker" and a "genocidal maniac" while the journalist was giving his position. Cherwell reported that Peled said during the debate, "What happened on October 7th was not terrorism — these were acts of heroism of a people who were oppressed," and called for a Paleostinian state "from the river to the sea." The ongoing war in Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. For her part, Abulhawa told the crowd that she "came to speak directly to Zionists: we let you into our homes when your own countries turned you away. You killed and robbed and burned and looted our lives, you carved out our hearts." The Paleostinian poet El-Kurd argued that Zionism is "irredeemable and indefensible," and said that if the union voted in favor of calling Israel an apartheid state committing genocide, "it means that this body is catching up to the moral clarity of the global majority. It is about time and about 70 years too late." Speaking against the proposition, meanwhile, Haddad was kicked out of the chamber for lack of decorum after calling the audience "terrorist supporters" when they booed him during his argument. As he was escorted out, the Arab-Israeli activist put on a shirt with the face of slain Hezbollah leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah ...The late, lamented satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...> with the caption, "Your terrorist is dead." Pro-Israel speaker Hausdorff called the debate a "dark moment in the Oxford Union’s history," and said that the accusation of genocide against Israel is a "slur being alleged against the real victims of genocide in this case." Yusef, the disowned eldest son of the co-founder of Hamas who has become a pro-Israel activist, reportedly told the crowd, "Paleostinians are the most pathetic people on planet Earth," and insisted that Paleostinians are "a false identity" At the end of the debate, the union voted in favor of the resolution 278 to 59, officially labeling Israel as apartheid and genocidal. The union has a track record of contentious debates on Israel. In 1962, for instance, it debated whether "The Creation of the State of Israel is One of the Mistakes of the Century." Decades later, the students were still debating whether, as a 2008 motion put it, "This house believes that the State of Israel has a right to exist." Over the years, union members have also overwhelmingly backed motions accusing Israel’s supporters of "stifling Western debate." But anti-Israel activists haven’t had it their way on every occasion. In 2015, for instance, the US lawyer Alan Dershowitz won a debate on whether the BDS movement against Israel was wrong. Two years before that, the union rejected a motion that argued Israel is "a force for good in the Middle East," although pro-Israel students delighted in the narrowness of their defeat, suggesting that "to get nearly 40 percent support for Israel at a British university in this day and age is a triumph." |

Son of Hamas founder claims war 'not going to stop' while Ayatollah lives |
2024-08-19 |
[NYPOST] One-time Israel double agent and son of a Hamas![]() founder Mosab Hassan Yusef warned there is ''no such thing'' as a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas until Iran's supreme leader is removed from power. ''This is an open war, and I'm afraid that we haven't seen the worst of it yet,'' Yusef told Fox News Digital. ''And let me tell you something: This whole thing is only for one purpose — to just bring the hostages back, and whenever there is an opportunity to just bring the hostages, I think this is where Israel is compromising.'' ''But, eventually, this war is not going to stop until Islamists are removed from power, and I'm afraid now that we are coming to realize, without removing ayatollah from power, the Middle East would never experience peace and prosperity,'' Yusef said. The son of a Hamas founder details in his new book, ''From Hamas to America,'' the deeply psychological impact of his harrowing life as a member of Hamas, his time as a double agent working for the Israeli Security Agency (Shin Bet) and his exit to America after a decade of service. This provides Yusef a unique perspective on the conflicts in the Middle East, and his message is stark: ''A cease-fire now, a temporary cease-fire that could bring some of the hostages back home alive is not a bad thing, but I'm afraid that this is just a temporary situation.'' ''The approach of the current administration that is hesitant, that is trying to please everybody, to win votes— well, this is a short, political interest at the expense of the fundamentals of the country,'' Yusef argued. ''I think this is where Hamas can sense the compromise, when they see their hesitation, when they see the conflict within the administration, when they sense hypocrisy, they know that the politicians have been compromised,'' he said. ''And this is when they can actually find a way to infiltrate and to press toward creating more division and more chaos.'' Hamas West Bank leader said freed from detention after 16 months |

![]() Israel on Thursday freed a big shot of Hamas in the West Bank after imprisoning him without trial for 16 months, his son said. "He is now at home and is in good health," his son Owais Yusef told AFP. Following his arrest, Yusef was handed a six-month detention order that was extended for another six months and then for a further four, his son said. The 65-year-old, who has been arrested multiple times, had been released from a previous 10-month term of imprisonment in October 2018. Israel’s administrative detention system allows the internment of prisoners for renewable periods of up to six months each, without bringing charges. Israel says the procedure allows authorities to hold suspects and prevent attacks while continuing to gather evidence, but critics and rights groups say the system is abused. Around 350 Paleostinians were being held under administrative detention orders at the end of May, the latest data currently available, according to Israeli human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... organization B’Tselem. The group said the evidence against detainees was not disclosed. A member of the now-defunct Paleostinian parliament, Hassan Yusef is estranged from his eldest son, Mosab Hassan Yusef, who for 10 years spied against Hamas and for Israel. From 1997 to 2007, Mosab Hassan Yusef worked for Israel’s Shin Bet internal security agency, before relocating to the United States, where he lives under a new identity. Hamas Defector Slams 'Death Worship' |
2014-07-29 |
[IsraelTimes] A high-profile Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, critic, and son of one the group's leaders, struck out at the terrorist group for its "worship of death" and its plans to establish a global caliphate, in a recent interview. Mosab Hassan Yusef, a Hamas defector who worked for 10 years as an informer for the Shin Bet, explained to CNN last week that, for Gazoo's rulers, human life is of no consequence. "Hamas does not care about the lives of Paleostinians, or the lives of Israelis, or Americans; they don't care about their own lives," Yusef said. "They consider dying for their ideology a way of worship. "Hamas is not seeking coexistence and compromise; Hamas is seeking conquest," he added. "The destruction of the state of Israel is not the Hamas final destination." Hamas, Yusef asserted, wants to build an Islamic state "on the rubble of every other civilization." Yusef, who converted to Christianity and was disowned by his father, West Bank Hamas leader Hassan Yusef, recalled that the extreme indoctrination is preached in mosques at young children. "In the mosques, Hamas told us that without shedding innocent blood for the sake of the ideology we will not be able to build an Islamic state," he said. "At five-years-old, that is what they were feeding us." Yusef gained fame by going public about his experiences in a book, and more recently a film, "The Green Prince." Israel has claimed that Hamas is using Gazoo civilians as human shields to protect its military infrastructure during the ongoing Operation Protective Edge aimed at stemming rocket fire from Gazoo at Israeli cities and destroying cross-border tunnels used to launch terror attacks. Yosef's father Hassan was placed in durance vile Drop the heater, Studs, or you're hist'try! last month as part of the massive search to find three Israeli teenagers Eyal Yifrach, 19; Gil-ad Shaar, 16; and Naftali Frenkel, 19 who were kidnapped in June as they hitchhiked near Hebron. The teens' bodies were later found in a field near the city. |

Islam is 'a religion of war,' says son of Hamas founder on a visit to his 'beloved Israel' | |||
2012-06-22 | |||
Mosab Hassan Yusef has a knack for controversy. The son of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, founder Sheikh Hassan Yusef, he has already broken every taboo in the Paleostinian book. He has worked for Israeli intelligence and converted to Christianity. Now he is developing a new film which is sure to be no less sensational: a biography of the life of Muhammad, the prophet of Islam. Yusef, 33, broke ranks with Hamas in 1997 and began working for the Israeli internal intelligence service Shin Bet. Ten years later, after helping Israel thwart dozens of terror attacks and arrest many members of his former movement, Yusef left for the United States where he sought political asylum and later converted to Christianity. Today, he says, he is back in Israel for the first time on a personal visit to inspire a new generation of Paleostinians.
Standing next to his retired Shin Bet handler, Gonen Ben-Itzhak, Yusef refused to answer questions in Arabic. He said he was on a mission to educate the public about the true nature of his former religion. Islam is not a religion of peace. Its a religion of war, he said. Moslems dont even know the true nature of their own religion.
He said the film is unique in that it will be produced by Moslems, or people of Moslem background, unlike recent European attempts to tackle the complex historiography of Muhammad. With a written screenplay, guaranteed funding, and a celebrity actor (whose name he would not divulge) in the lead role as Muhammad, Yusef said he hoped filming will commence next year. Muhammad is still untouchable, Yusef said, noting that controversial as it was, Mel Gibsons 2004 film The Passion of Christ touched many people worldwide. Another film, expected to be produced before Muhammad, is a cinematic adaptation of Yusefs 2010 autobiography Son of Hamas, in which he recounts the tale of his cooperation with Israeli intelligence. Yusef said the book was already translated into 25 languages and is available for free download in Arabic on his personal website. When asked what he would tell his father if he were in the room, Yusef said only: Leave Hamas. You have created a monster. Gonen Ben-Itzhak, Yusefs handler who appears in the book under his operational pseudonym Captain Luay, said he considers Yusef his brother and has become his close friend after their professional paths parted in 2004. He saved many lives and stopped many attacks, Ben-Itzhak told The Times of Israel. I think that we, as Israelis, must show our gratitude to people like him. Even while working for us he was always against bloodshed, on both sides. Ben-Itzhak noted that Israeli officials voiced their concern about Yusefs arrival in Israel as his life is still under threat, but added that Yusef was allowed into the country with neither visa nor passport. His story is very unusual, Ben-Itzhak added. I cant recall the last time an asset came out like this.

'Son Of Hamas' Arrives In Israel |
2012-06-14 |
[Jerusalem Post] Mosab Hasan Youssef was invited to visit by MK, is questioned for over 3 hours at B-G Airport before being allowed to enter. Mosab Hassan Yusef, the son of Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, founder Sheikh Hassan Yusef, arrived in Israel Wednesday evening from the US. Despite receiving an official invitation to visit the Knesset from Deputy Minister Ayoub Kara (Likud), Yusef was incarcerated You have the right to remain silent... at passport control for more than three hours of questioning before being allowed to proceed. "They questioned me for a long time but they treated me well and with respect," said Yusef regarding his detainment at Ben-Gurion Airport. Yusef, who served as his father's right-hand man, worked as an undercover agent for the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) from 1997 until 2007 and was considered the most valuable spy within Hamas during the second intifada. In his capacity as a source for the Shin Bet, Yusef prevented dozens of terrorist attacks and planned liquidations against Israeli leaders. He further assisted in exposing Hamas terrorist cells and provided intelligence that led to the detention of key Paleostinian leaders -- including his own father. In 2007, Yusef, who is a convert to Christianity, quit being an agent and moved to the US where he received political asylum. Yusef's autobiography, Son of Hamas: A Gripping Account of Terror, Betrayal, Political Intrigue, and Unthinkable Choices, was published in 2010. In it, he describes how he came to despise the use of brutality in Hamas and what caused him to switch sides. |

Israel Arrests West Bank Hamas Leader |
2011-09-02 |
[An Nahar] Israel has relocked away a top leader of the Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, movement in the West Bank, just weeks after releasing him from jail, the Israeli military and Hamas sources said Thursday. Hassan Yusef was jugged on Wednesday night as he tried to cross a checkpoint between the West Bank cities of Ramallah and Nablus, a Hamas source told Agence La Belle France Presse. The Israeli military confirmed it had jugged Yusef, who was released from prison in early August after serving a six-year term for "membership of a terrorist organization," but declined to give any additional details. "Hey, we know you! Hassan, isn't it? Why don't you come with us?" Yusef was freed on August 4 as part of a mass release of Israeli and Paleostinian prisoners due to overcrowding. He had six weeks left of his sentence. Last March, Yusef disowned his son after he admitted to having spied on Hamas for Israel and played a major role in the arrest of senior myrmidons. Mosab Hassan Yusef, 32, said he was a top informer for Israel's Shin Bet internal security agency and was known by the codename "The Green Prince." He converted to Christianity 10 years ago and now lives in Caliphornia. He reportedly worked for the Shin Bet at the height of the second Paleostinian intifada, or uprising, which began in 2000, when Hamas carried out dozens of suicide kabooms and Israel waged all-out war on the Islamist movement. Hamas has said the elder Yusef worked entirely in the public political wing of the movement. He was elected to the Paleostinian parliament in 2006, while in Israeli custody. |
