Kabul: 70 Villages in Sarobi District Under Taliban Control |
2021-07-09 |
[ToloNews] Local officials in Kabul province's Sarobi district, east of Kabul city, on Thursday said that 70 villages out of 130 are under Taliban![]() students... control. Kabul governor Mohammad Yaqoub said that forces of Evil associated with Pakistain-based Lashkar-e-Taiba ...the Army of the Pure,an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI... and other groups are playing a role in the fight in Sarobi. Residents in Sarobi said that the Taliban has threatened to launch an attack on the Sarobi bazaar. The Kabul governor said that besides Sarobi four other districts in Kabul province are under Taliban threat. However, a lie repeated often enough remains a lie... Kabul's governor said that the security forces will not allow the Taliban to expand their activities. Zahidullah, who owns a restaurant in Sarobi, said that the security situation in the area has tanked. "The Taliban are trying to take over the ruby mines in Jagdalak district. They don’t have the capacity to extract it, but we are trying to prevent their control of it," said Sarobi's district governor. "The enemy is trying to impose an economic siege on Kabul, they want to put pressure on the economic arteries, therefore the enemy focuses on our transporation routes in the east," said Kabul governor Mohammad Yaqoub. "There is fighting day and night, only the bazaar remains, some days ago they killed several secuity force members and took others hostage," said Zahidullah, a resident in Sarobi. Kabul has 14 districts, five of which are under threat, according to Afghan security officials. |

Operation Against Qaisari Over House Ownership |
2019-12-19 |
[ToloNews] The latest explanation for the combined army-airforce-police strike against Qaisari in Mazar-e-Sharif is that his men were occupying a house illegally. Documents obtained by TOLOnews reveal that the recent operation by the Afghan cops against Nizamuddin Qaisari, the former police chief of Faryab’s Qaisar district, was over the ownership of a house where he was living along with his armed guards. Based on the documents, the house where Qaisari was residing belonged to Farhad Azimi, a former member of Afghan parliament and one of the close aides to Atta Mohammad Noor, the former governor of Northern Balkh province and a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami ... The Islamic Society, founded in 1941 in Lahore by Maulana Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi, aka The Great Apostosizer. The Jamaat opposed the independence of Bangladesh but has operated an independentbranch there since 1975. It maintains close ties with international Mohammedan groups such as the Moslem Brotherhood. the Taliban, and al-Qaeda. The Jamaat's objectives are the establishment of a pure Islamic state, governed by Sharia law. It is distinguished by its xenophobia, and its opposition to Westernization, capitalism, socialism, secularism, and liberalist social mores... party of Afghanistan. However, there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... a man named Mohammad Yaqoub had also claimed that he was the real owner of the house. Abdul Rauf Bahrami, head of Balkh’s legal department, said that based on the court’s verdict, Mohammad Yaqoub was not the real owner of the house. According to Bahrami, last month a delegation comprised of members from various government institutions were sent to Balkh to implement the court’s verdict, however, Yaqoub was not in Balkh at the time and his wife requested a week to evacuate the house. Mohammad Yaqoub however handed control of the house to Qaisari’s gunnies instead of letting the government evict him after the end of the one week deadline. "After completion of the deadline, when the delegation arrived in the area, they didn’t see Mohammad Yaqoub and his family members, but they did see illegal gunnies living in the house," said Bahrami. But documents that were released by Azimi show that local officials in Balkh have called for the court’s ruling to be acted on so that Azimi can reclaim the house. "The Appeals Court in Balkh has decided that the house is the asset of Azimi," said Munir Ahmad Farhad, a front man for the Balkh governor. But Mohammad Yaqoub and his son also came up with some documents and claimed ownership of the house. "We were helpless, because they (Farhad Azimi) were bullying people, so we were compelled to sell the house to Qaisari," said Zabiullah, the son of Mohammad Yaqoub. |

Three mediators killed in Taliban clash in Zabul |
2015-09-08 |
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Three mediators who were trying to end fighting between two rival Taliban groups have been killed in the clash in southern Zabul province. General Mirwais Noorzai, police chief of Zabul province said that fighting between two rival groups of Taliban increases in the jurisdiction of Khak-e-Afghan and Arghandab districts. Noorzai further said that fresh festivities have left five faceless myrmidons from both sides killed in Khak-e-Afghan District. According to Noorzai, when fighting between the supporters of Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour and the ones following Mullah Mansour Dadullah continues to rage then local elders try to mediate. "Three community elders were killed while mediating," he said. Taliban infighting began following the rifts within the leadership of the hard boy group over the appointment of new Supreme Leader. One group pledged allegiance to Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour after he was announced as the replacement for Mullah Omar ... a minor Pashtun commander in the war against the Soviets who made good as leader of the Taliban. As ruler of Afghanistan, he took the title Leader of the Faithful. The imposition of Pashtunkhwa on the nation institutionalized ignorance and brutality in a country already notable for its own fair share of ignorance and brutality... at the end of July but another group containing Mullah Mansour Dadullah, Mullah Abdul Manan and some other notorious commanders opposes him. This group wants Mullah Omar's son Mullah Mohammad Yaqoub to be the successor to his father. |

Taliban Hold Open Meetings in Pakistan to Discuss Leadership
2015-08-07 | |
[Tolo News] Senior members of the Taliban are reportedly holding open meetings in Pakistan to discuss the disputed appointment of Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour as the group's new chief in the wake Mullah Omar's death.
Several top Taliban leaders have expressed strong opposition to Mansour's leadership, calling him a puppet of Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI). Sources within the Afghan government told TOLOnews on condition of anonymity on Thursday that scores of Taliban members - including both those who agree and disagree with Mansour's appointment - met with clerics in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on Wednesday to resolve the dispute over Omar's successor. The names of those within the Taliban who are said to endorse Mansour's leadership are as follows: Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, Abdul Hassan Akhund, Mohammad Rassoul Akhund, Abdul Latif, Mansour Ibrahim Sadar, Abdul Rashid Shinwari, Abbas Akhund, Mohammad Essa Akhund, Mawlavi Abdul Rahim, Mawlavi Abdul Nabi, Mawlavi Mohammad Reza, Mawlavi Mohammad Nadim, Shahabuddin Dilawar, Mawlavi Jan Mohammad, Qazi Din Mohammad, Mawlavi Nek Mohammad and Mohammad Zahir Ahmadzai. Meanwhile, the list of those thought to disagree with Mansour's appointment is also extensive: Mohammad Yaqoub (Mullah Omar's eldest son), Abdul Manan (Mullah Omar's brother), Abdul Raziq Akhund, Abdul Mobin Akhund, Mohammad Hassan Rahmani, Abdul Raouf Akhund, Abdul Bari Akhund, Abdul Rahman Zahid, Anwar-ul-Haq Mujahid, Mansour Dadullah, Mawlavi Hamza, Abdul Manan Niazi, Abdul Qayoum Zakir, Zabihullah, Mawlavi Shireen, Mohammad Akhtar Mohammadzai, Gull Pacha Amiri and Janan Haq Parast. Some political analysts, meanwhile, have said the Pakistani government is seeking to exploit divisions within the Taliban's ranks. "It has always been said that Pakistan is using the Taliban leaders as a tool, and now this issue, once again, has been raised after the Taliban overtly began their activities and movement in Pakistan," political commentator Javed Kohistani said. Other commentators believe the recent Taliban gathering in Pakistan is evidence of Pakistani clerics' attempt to stop the group from splintering. "There were the same issues during Jihad; when the Mujahideen divided into many groups, Pakistan brought all of them to one table," National Solidarity Movement leader Sayed Ishaq Gilani told TOLOnews. "Now the same thing is happening to the Taliban; Pakistani clerics are trying to use the group as a tool."

Blasts leave 12 civilians dead in Afghanistan |
2010-03-22 |
![]() Violence in Afghanistan has surged, with 2009 being the worst year since US-backed Afghan forces overthrew the Taliban in 2001. More than 2,400 civilians were killed last year, a 14 per cent rise on 2008, the United Nations said. In the first incident, a suicide bomber driving a three-wheeled rickshaw detonated his explosives near a crowd who were holding a picnic for the Afghan New Year in Gereshk district of Helmand province, the provincial governor's spokesman said. "The target was an Afghan Army vehicle. The first reports are that 10 civilians have been killed and seven more wounded," said spokesman Daoud Ahmadi, adding the bomb missed its target. A witness at the scene told Reuters by telephone he had been no more than 50 metres away from the blast. "The bomber was driving a rickshaw and was targeting an army vehicle. When the soldiers saw the rickshaw they sped up. The bomb exploded in a crowded area where many people were having picnics," said Khan Mohammad. "Many people have been killed and wounded," he said. A spokesman for Nato-led forces in Kabul said none of its forces were killed or wounded in the attack, but that foreign troops were now in the area assessing the situation. In February, thousands of US Marines launched an assault in Marjah, another part of Helmand, which had been under the insurgents' control. The operation was described as the biggest offensive of the eight-year war. There are some 120,000 foreign troops in Afghanistan and that is set to rise to nearly 150,000 by the end of this year as Washington sends in more troops as part of a new strategy to try and quell the mounting violence. Separately, in Khost province in the southeast of the country, a roadside bomb killed two Afghan civilians and wounded four, a senior police chief said. "A civilian car hit a roadside bomb on the outskirts of Khost city. Two civilians were killed and four wounded," acting provincial police chief Mohammad Yaqoub Mandozai told Reuters. |

Two dead in Afghan suicide blast near foreign troops |
2008-03-16 |
![]() A NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) spokesman who asked not to be identified confirmed one soldier had been hurt in the blast. The alliance force, made up of around 47,000 soldiers from nearly 40 countries, does not release the nationalities of its casualties. However most foreign soldiers in eastern Afghanistan are US nationals. Khost deputy police chief Mohammad Yaqoub said two children -- both 13 years old -- were killed and at least two civilian men injured in the attack. Taxi driver Mohammad Ai'waz told AFP from the site soon after the bombing: "I can see a car on fire and another car flipped on its side next to the road. Lots of foreign troops are in the area and have sealed off the bombing site." Khost, which is located on the border with Pakistan, has seen a spike in Taliban-linked insurgent attacks in recent weeks. Two NATO soldiers and two Afghan workers were killed in a suicide attack which targeted a joint Afghan-NATO outpost in the province's Yaqoubi district on March 4. A policeman was killed in a similar attack a day later elsewhere in the province. In the southern province of Zabul, Afghan forces on Friday discovered a dozen explosive vests intended for suicide attacks, two car-bombs and dozens of home-made bombs with remote-control devices, an official said. One such bomb tore through a vehicle carrying road construction workers in Kandahar on Friday, killing three labourers, provincial official Niaz Mohammad Sarhadi told AFP. Last year was the deadliest since the Taliban were toppled from power, with more than 8,000 people killed, according to a report delivered to the UN Security Council this month. About 1,500 were civilians, it said. There were about 160 suicide attacks last year, up from 123 the previous year. |
