Iran Offers "Evidence" US Arming Iranian Rebels
2007-02-18
Here is the claim as relayed via the semi-official Iranian news agency Fars:

TEHRAN (Fars News Agency)- Following a Saturday report about the use of US manufactured weapons in the recent terrorist operations in Iran's southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan, a security official provided FNA with a photograph of the said weaponry. These arsenals have been confiscated during a raid on the hideout of a terrorist group known as Jondollah in the provincial capital city of Zahedan on Thursday.

If true, I'd be nothing but proud of the effort. But I dunno about that photo. Anybody?

Four hanged in public in Sistan-va-Baluchistan Province
2006-07-13
Tehran, Iran, Jul. 12 – Four men were hanged in public in the south-eastern city of Zabol, Sistan-va-Baluchistan Province, on Wednesday, the official news agency IRNA reported. The four were identified as Mehdi Zori, Houshang Kiani, Jamaloddin Jamali, and Abdol-Rahman Safar-Zehi were accused of “instigating trouble” and drug-related offences.

Iranian authorities routinely execute dissidents on the bogus charge of drug smuggling.
Any charge will do ...
Sistan-va-Baluchistan Province is home to Baluchis, a predominantly Sunni Muslim ethnic minority. Iran has witnessed escalating unrest since 2006 in areas populated by Baluchis, who complain of discriminatory and repressive policies by the theocratic regime. In recent months, Iranian authorities have stepped up executions in the restive province in what many Baluchis believe is a response to a spate of attacks by dissidents on government and security officials.

A Baluchi group opposed to the government of Iran calling itself Jondollah has claimed responsibility for a string of armed attacks on government officials including an ambush in March on a government convoy, which left twenty-two security and provincial officials dead and at least seven, including the governor of the city of Zahedan, critically wounded.

Revolutionary Guards commander whacked?
2006-05-07
London, May 06 – A group opposed to the government of Iran announced on Saturday that its members had executed a local commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) in the south-eastern province of Sistan-va-Baluchistan.

The Baluchi group calling itself Jondollah said in a statement that its members had killed IRGC Colonel Hamid-Reza Kaveh. The statement also denied that some of Jondollah’s members had been arrested by authorities.

In March, the group claimed responsibility for an armed attack on a convoy of government officials in the province, which left twenty-two government and provincial officials dead and at least seven, including the governor of the city of Zahedan, critically wounded.

In April, Iran’s state-run media reported that security forces had killed the group’s leader Abdolmalek Reigi along with 11 of its members on the border with Afghanistan. The claim proved to be false after Reigi subsequently appeared on an Arabic-language satellite channel denying such rumours.

Iran has not confirmed the group’s latest announcement.
