Amalek: Israel's Ancient Enemy Lives among Us |
2020-06-26 |
[American Thinker] In the annals of Jewish history, "[t]he Amalekites, descendants of Amalek, were an ancient biblical nation living near the land of Canaan. They were the first nation to attack the Jewish people after the Exodus from Egypt, and they are seen as the archetypal enemy of the Jews. The nation of Amalek is long gone, but they live on as the internal [and external] enemies that the Jewish people battle on a daily basis." Amalek seeks Israel's physical as well as spiritual annihilation. Dear Reader — take a moment and substitute the word America for the word Israel, and you will begin to see the trajectory of this article. At the dawn of the American Revolution, John Adams observed, "If the people are capable of understanding, seeing and feeling the differences between true and false, right and wrong, virtue and vice, to what better principle can the friends of mankind apply, than to the sense of this difference?" As Mark Alexander writes "[b]ut today, the ability of Americans to discern 'between true and false, right and wrong, virtue and vice,' is being systematically eroded by leftist politicos, in collusion with their 24/7 Left media and Big Tech enablers, relentlessly seeking to empower the state." Consequently, America is presently in a battle, not only for its physical well-being but also for its spiritual values. In the world of media, for example, The Atlantic, endorses the "insane racism of Ta Nehisi Coates" while also hosting a film by Steve Jobs' widow that blames Jews for all the Middle Eastern wars. Even the world of sports is being corrupted. The Marxist Left has vowed to destroy America. Their radical Islamic allies never stop in their all-consuming desire to create a global caliphate. In fact, in 1990, James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute, established a . . . "plan to undermine the Jewish community in America by organizing the Left here against Israel's 'oppression' of Palestinians." |

BDS founder unable to attend UK Labour event due to visa holdup |
2019-09-21 |
[IsraelTimes] Paleostine Solidarity Campaign blames delay in handling of Omar Barghouti’s visa request on ’growing efforts by Israel and its allies to suppress Paleostinian voices’. A founder of the Paleostinian-led boycott movement against Israel will be unable to speak at an event at the UK Labour Party’s upcoming annual conference due to his visa request being delayed. The Paleostine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), a pro-BDS group hosting the event on the sidelines of the Labour conference in Brighton, on Friday said Omar Barghouti would instead address the gathering by video due to the UK government’s "unexplained, abnormal delay" in issuing him a visa. "The unprecedented delay in processing Barghouti’s travel visa application by the British government is part and parcel of the growing efforts by Israel and its allies to suppress Paleostinian voices and the movements for Paleostinian rights," PSC said in a statement. Barghouti had been set to speak at the "Paleostine in the age of Trump" event alongside Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott and Unite union chief Len McCluskey, both allies of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. "They fear our shining a light of truth that reveals their lies. They dread our tireless quest for freedom, justice and equality," Barghouti said, according to the PSC statement. There was no immediate comment from the UK Home Office, which handles visa requests. Corbyn, a strong critic of Israel, has said he doesn’t support the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement, though at the Labour conference last year the party passed a motion calling to ban all UK weapons sales to Israel. Since becoming Labour leader in 2015, Corbyn has come under scrutiny for his criticism of Israel and past contacts with the Hamas, a regional Iranian catspaw, and Hezbollah terror groups, both sworn to Israel’s destruction. Labour and Corbyn himself have also been rocked by accusations of anti-Semtisim, with fresh scrutiny coming after a number of former party officials accused him and his allies of interfering in efforts to address the issue, in a recent BBC program. Earlier this year, Barghouti was denied entry to the US for a multi-city speaking tour. The Arab American Institute said at the time that Barghouti, a resident of Acre who is married to an Arab Israeli and holds Israeli permanent resident status, was not provided an explanation for his denial of entry beyond being told it was an "immigration matter." James Zogby, the head of the Arab American Institute, called Barghouti’s ban an "arbitrary political decision," and accused the Trump administration of working to "silence Paleostinian voices." Israel has barred Barghouti from leaving the county a number of times in recent years, by refusing to renew travel documents granted to Paleostinian residents of Israel who do not have full citizenship. The BDS campaign advocates boycotts, divestment and sanctions against Israeli businesses, universities and artists. Supporters say BDS is a nonviolent movement for Paleostinian independence, but Israel claims it aims to delegitimize the Jewish state, and it has been condemned by many as anti-Semitic at its roots. |

Shakeup at the DNC: First Jewish Transgender Lesbian is Dumped |
2017-10-19 |
[JammieWearingFool] As the Democrats flounder trying to find a coherent message to bamboozle Americans with, apparently the diversity bean-counters have invited some trouble here.The removal and demotion of a handful of veteran operatives stood out, as did what critics charge is the over-representation of Clinton-backed members on the Rules and Bylaws Committee, which helps set the terms for the party’s presidential primary, though other Sanders and Ellison backers remain represented. Why do Democrats hate transgender lesbians, one might ask? The DNC has been under intense scrutiny from party activists since the 2016 presidential primary between Clinton and Sanders, and some had feared this week’s appointments could reignite those tensions. Others worried about replacing people with years of institutional memory with inexperienced newcomers in the effort to bring in new blood. Which begs the question: What does Tom Perez have against Jewish, veteran, transgender, lesbian, grandparent, small-business owners? |

Democrats will have platform battle on Israel
2016-05-27 | ||
[NYTimes] A bitter divide over the Middle East could threaten Democratic Party unity as representatives of Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont vowed to upend what they see as the party's lopsided support of Israel. Two of the senator's appointees to the party's platform drafting committee, Cornel West and James Zogby, on Wednesday denounced Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza and said they believed that rank-and-file Democrats no longer hewed to the party's staunch support of the Israeli government.
They said they would try to get their views incorporated into the platform, the party's statement of core beliefs, at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July.

Sanders names Cornel West, Keith Ellison to DNC platform committee |
2016-05-24 |
[THEHILL] Top Bernie Sanders ...The only openly Socialist member of the U.S. Senate. Sanders was Representative-for-Life from Vermont until moving to the Senate for the rest of his life in 2006, assuming the seat vacated by Jim Jeffords... supporters Dr. Cornell West and Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.) will be among those on the Democratic Party's important Platform Drafting Committee after the Vermont senator won a key concession as he looks to leave his mark on the party's platform. The roster of the drafting committee, released by the Democratic National Committee on Monday, reflects the party's agreement that Sanders would have five supporters on the committee, compared to six for ![]() ... sometimes described as the Smartest Woman in the World and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Charles Evans Hughes... Sanders previously panned DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz ...Congresswoman from Florida, the abrasive chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She has been a politician since 1992, and prior to that was in training as a political science major. Her primary accomplishment seems to be that she's Jewish... , who appoints all of the committee members, for failing to include enough of his supporters on an initial list. But the latest statement notes that Wasserman Schultz allocated the campaign's seats "proportionally according to the current vote tally." Along with West and Ellison, Sanders supporters on the committee are author Bill McKibben, Arab American Institute head James Zogby and Native American activist Deborah Parker. Clinton loyalists on the committee are Ambassador Wendy Sherman, former Clinton staffer and current Center for American Progress head Neera Tanden, Ohio Rep. Alicia Reece, environmentalist Carol Browner, Illinois Rep. Luis Gutiérrez and union head Paul Booth. The remaining four members were chosen by Wasserman Schultz. |

Hatem Abudayyeh visited White House
2010-10-02 | |||||||||
Hatem Abudayyeh, who serves as executive director of the Arab-American Action Network, took part in a meeting for Arab-American leaders held in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building on April 22, according to appointment data posted on the White House website. "He attended a briefing held by the Office of Public Engagement on April 22, 2010, to update members of the Arab-American community on issues of their concern," White House spokesman Shin Inouye said. The guest list for the event was drafted by the Arab-American Institute. Inouye said President Barack Obama did not take part in the session, which appears to have involved more than 80 people.
The warrant and subpoena suggest the probe, which is being run by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald in Chicago, is focusing on illegal support for terrorist organizations, particularly by a Minnesota-based group called the Freedom Road Socialist Organization. PFLP, FARC and Hezbollah are designated as terrorist groups by the U.S. government. A spokesman for Fitzgerald's office declined to comment on the probe.
"Each year we do a leadership summit of our institute leadership also of leadership from the Arab-American network. That is a network of Arab --American community and social service organizations and the group in Chicago is one of the network members and so they were invited," Zogby said. "We did, as part of the weekend, a White House briefing and Hatem was included as part of the network." Zogby said the national network Abudayyeh's group is part of works on domestic issues, such as immigration reform and civil liberties. "I know Hatem is active on those issues in Chicago. He's very much a part of immigration reform coalitions there. That that would have been the purpose of the network's inclusion in this meeting," Zogby said.
In a 2006 interview with Fight Back News, an outlet run by Minneapolis activist Kelly, Abudayyeh seemed to disagree rather strenuously with at least some of the U.S. government's use of the "terrorist" label. "The U.S. and Israel will continue to describe Hamas, Hezbollah and the other Palestinian and Lebanese resistance organizations as 'terrorists,' but the real terrorists are the governments and military forces of the U.S. and Israel," Abudayyeh said. "The vast majority of the world sees and understands this, and are in full support of Lebanese, Palestinian and worldwide resistance to Israel and the U.S.'s naked aggression, war, imperialism and occupation." Fennerty said he was surprised to hear Abudayyeh was invited to a White House event. "He runs like a social-welfare office that helps people get citizenship, apply for benefits, welfare if they're entitled to it," the lawyer said.
Abudayyeh's White House visit was noted Thursday by several conservative websites, including the Gateway Pundit blog at First Things magazine. Abudayyeh's group, AAAN, briefly drew attention during the presidential campaign following reports that a foundation on whose board Obama served donated $40,000 to the group for "community organizing" in 2001. Conservative critics said the group and Abudayyeh have promoted anti-Israeli views. AAAN officials said the organization is strictly focused on local community issues and doesn't get involved in international politics. In 2003, Obama spoke at an AAAN-sponsored farewell dinner for Rashid Khalidi, a professor who was decamping from the University of Chicago to Columbia. During the 2008 campaign, the Los Angeles Times obtained a video of the event and reported that Obama lavished praise on Khalidi, who once served as a spokesman for the Palestinian Liberation Organization. Other speakers at the event railed against Israeli policies.
High-level contacts between politically active Arab-American leaders and White House officials have stirred controversy in the past after the activists became caught up in terrorism-related probes. In some cases, defense attorneys for those charged have sought to use their White House visits to undermine the prosecution's assertions that the individuals were dangerous.

U.S. diplomat retires - accused of anti-Arab comments |
2007-08-18 |
![]() The State Department declined comment on the legal case against Syring, which was outlined in an indictment filed at a U.S. federal court on Wednesday, but said the diplomat had decided to retire. Syring is alleged to have made the comments in a series of e-mails and voice mails to officials the Arab American Institute, including its president James Zogby, when Israel was at war with Lebanese Hezbollah guerrillas in July 2006. "The only good Lebanese is a dead Lebanese. The only good Arab is a dead Arab. Long live the IDF. Death to Lebanon and death to the Arabs," Syring said in a voice mail recorded at the institute on July 17, 2006. IDF stands for Israel Defense Forces -- the Israeli military. "Fuck the Arabs and Fuck James Zogby and his wicked Hizbollah brothers. They will burn in hellfire on this earth and in the hereafter," he wrote in an e-mail to Zogby and another institute employee on the same day. The voice mails and e-mails, which were sent from a personal e-mail address, were quoted in the indictment. Syring served as a U.S. diplomat in the Middle East and most recently worked in Human Resources at the State Department. He stands accused of violating U.S. law on federally protected rights and of making threatening communications. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack declined to address the Syring case specifically other than to say he had retired. U.S. officials declined to comment on whether he had decided to retire before or after having allegedly made the remarks. Speaking generally, McCormack said such comments were unacceptable to U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. "Let me just underline for you the seriousness with which the secretary approaches the idea that the State Department should be a workplace that in no way, shape or form tolerates discrimination or hateful language," he said. "It's just not condoned or acceptable in this department." Calls to Syring's home in Virginia were not returned. |

San Jose police chief to observe Ramadan fast in Muslim outreach |
2004-10-12 |
San Jose Police Chief Rob Davis was speaking to 7,000 Bay Area Muslims last year at the end of Ramadan, Islam's holy month of fasting, when he suddenly realized that they had gone hungry when he had not. And they were celebrating an experience he did not know. ``It just dawned on me,'' he recalled. ``If I am truly going to understand the nuances of this religion, I should join them in this fast.'' So this week, Davis will join the world's nearly 1 billion Muslims in forgoing food and drink from sunrise to sunset in the monthlong observance of Ramadan. Leaders in law enforcement and the Muslim community say they have never heard of a police chief fasting for the entire month. Last year in the United Kingdom, the highest ranking police officer at New Scotland Yard fasted for one day. Davis' decision carries enormous weight with Muslims, who remain worried about racial profiling, continued backlash from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and, most recently in San Jose, the fatal police shooting of a Bosnian Muslim outside a coffee shop. ``It is a remarkable gesture,'' said James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute, an advocacy group in Washington, D.C. ``The fact that a major law enforcement figure in the country is making this gesture will help bridge some of the gaps in this country.'' During Ramadan, Davis plans to break the fast nightly with a different Muslim family, and will extend an invitation to eat at his home. The police chief, who is a Mormon, said his decision to observe Ramadan is not motivated by politics or publicity but by a desire to ``truly understand.'' Davis made the commitment when he was the deputy police chief and now, as the chief, he believes fasting can help him connect with a community that is growing in the South Bay. ``Everyone needs to know that the chief is the chief for everybody -- not just the majority, not just for those in power,'' Davis, 47, said. ``I need to be a chief for everybody, particularly for those who've felt marginalized.'' |

US Moslems Angry That Kerry Supports Bushâs Policy on Israel |
2004-06-03 |
From The Muslim News, reprint of an article from The Daily Star The battle for the hearts and minds of Arab-American voters has taken a decidedly negative turn for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Senator John Kerry. A raft of statements by Kerry lauding President George W. Bushâs unequivocal support of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has alienated some in a community that, though relatively small, is strategically situated in certain states expected to be closely contested in the November election. Kerry has recently endorsed Sharonâs Gaza disengagement plan as well as Bushâs April 14 commitment to Sharon, acquiescing to Israelâs retention of large West Bank settlements, and the denial of Palestinian refugeesâ right of return. Previously, Kerry has expressed support for Israelâs assassinations of Palestinian leaders, the construction of its separation barrier and the isolation of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. ... The relatively small Arab-American community - estimated at 3.5 million - has gained prominence beyond its numbers due to its generally high voter turnout and preponderance in several "battleground" states - notably Michigan. A majority of Arab-Americans voted for Bush in 2000, partly due to a perception that, like his father, he would be relatively evenhanded on the Arab-Israeli issue. But, polls now give Kerry a double-digit lead over Bush, with a large number undecided or leaning toward independent candidate Ralph Nader, who many supported in 2000 and who is of Lebanese descent. Judge William Shaheen, the head of the Kerry campaign in New Hampshire, is the senatorâs unofficial liaison with the Arab-American community and the husband of former New Hampshire governor Jeanne Shaheen, Kerryâs national campaign chair. Judge Shaheen is adamant that a Kerry presidency would offer hope on Palestine. It would bring "a breath of fresh air" to the peace process Shaheen told The Daily Star. Shaheen maintains that Kerryâs individual positions are less important than his willingness to mediate. According to Shaheen, the real problem is "that we have a president whoâs not engaged in the peace process. ... Kerryâs recently expressed views have been a letdown to community leaders like James Zogby, president of the Arab-American Institute (AAI), who is in close contact with the Kerry campaign. At an AAI conference in October, Kerry had won plaudits for labeling Israelâs separation barrier "provocative and counter-productive." But he has since called it a "legitimate act of self-defense." Zogby says that Kerryâs views on Israeli-Palestinian issues risk alienating those for whom that issue is paramount. ... A poll commissioned by the AAI in late April in four battleground states that have sizeable Arab-American populations - Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio - found that while Kerry leads Bush by 45 to 28 percent, the remainder intend to vote for Nader or are undecided. The number of Arab-American voters in those states - 510,000 - is approximately equivalent to the combined margin of victory in all four in 2000. Some 170,000 of those votes are still up for grabs, says Zogby, and convincing undecided voters to support Kerry hinges on his stance on Palestine. Charlie Cook, editor of the Cook Political Report, says the Kerry campaign is simply deferring to Jewish supporters, who provide significant funding for the Democratic party. And Jewish voters are turning to Bush in unprecedented numbers because of his pro-Israel policies, he says. "Thereâs no question that President Bush is going to get a bigger percentage of the Jewish vote than Republicans normally get, and maybe than a Republican has ever gotten," says Cook. Kerryâs campaigns are "just trying to cut their losses." ... |

Assclown Alert: Zogby trashes U.S. in Saudi Arabia |
2003-12-31 |
EFL & Buttloads of Fun A prominent Arab-American leader is trashing the United States government for managing the news in the Saudi Arabian media â where criticism of the royal family is strictly forbidden. Note: He did so freely without U.S. government censorship. The broadside by James Zogby, founder and president of the Arab American Institute and a frequent commentator on Arab and Muslim issues in the U.S media, appears in the current issue of Arab News, which describes itself as the first English-language daily in Saudi Arabia. We hang by our thumbs awaiting his next insight. In a piece Well that makes sense. We know how supportive our media is of the WoT. "In the American publicâs mind Sept. 11, Afghanistan and Iraq have all been morphed into a vague but clearly threatening reality â a ârealityâ that has been cultivated by carefully managed news," he wrote. Washington Post, New York Times, et al. They are just puppets of the Bush administration, no? Zogby Bush has his foot right on the neck of all major media outles, no? "In a similar vein, Iraqi Blah, blah, blah...funny he knows about these deaths. Guess the Pentagon is not doing a good job covering up all these deaths. |

US parses Yasser's statement |
2002-04-13 |
They'll be looking for weasel words and tell-tale grease spots. Powell, who issued a statement in the early hours urging Arafat to condemn the bombing that threw his peacemaking mission into disarray on its first day, said earlier he would decide on Saturday whether to meet the Palestinian leader. Thereby tying the statement to a meeting without explicitly saying so. The official noted that the United States had not publicly made the condemnation a condition for a meeting between Arafat and Powell, who held lengthy talks with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon on Friday. Not publicly, no. But privately certainly, though intermediaries, and along with that implicitly. Powell's spokesman however called for a condemnation in the same statement in which he announced that the planned talks with Arafat on Saturday had been canceled. Yup. That's pretty implicit. However he did not rule out a meeting in future, saying when asked if the talks were being rescheduled for Sunday, "We'll see." "If we have time. We might have to do our hair that day. We'll letcha know." The chances of the statement leading to a positive decision by Powell were increased by the fact that Arafat issued his condemnation in Arabic. Chances statements by most politicians are understood increase when they're made in the local language. Powell has called on Israel to end its military offensive against Palestinian targets in the West Bank, where Arafat has been besieged in his Ramallah headquarters by Israeli tanks and troops. That was pretty much obligatory, wasn't it? Update: FoxNews says Powell will meet with Yasser on Sunday. James Zogby, on Tony Snow's show, says he expects there will be more detailed condemnations from Yasser in the coming days. Rooters, on the other hand, reports that A senior aide to Palestinian President Yasser Arafat said Saturday, following Friday's suicide bombing in Jerusalem, that the Palestinian Authority had always condemned all attacks on civilians on both sides. But Information Minister Yasser Abed Rabbo charged that the United States only condemned attacks against Israelis while ignoring what he called "massacres" by the Israeli army during a 15-day-old West Bank offensive.And there's the obligatory dilution for internal consumption. Pretty good bet that statement was in Arabic. This would also be the cue for the Hamas boomers to try and swarm before tomorrow... |
