Nasrallah’s children say he cried after pager attack and fell into depression

[IsraelTimes] In interviews, Zeinab and Mohammed Jawad Nasrallah speak of how Israeli strikes damaged Hezbollah morale, say father was noticeably ‘no longer with us’

became depressed and was emotionally changed by Israel’s exploding pager attack on his operatives as well as by strikes that decimated the group’s leadership, his family told Lebanese media.

His son said Nasrallah was noticeably no longer the same man, and his daughter revealed that he cried after the beeper attack.

Nasrallah’s son, daughter, and three grandchildren spoke to al-Manar television for interviews that were broadcast on Friday.

s.

The pagers, laced with explosives, were detonated via an encrypted message that required users to hold the devices with both hands, maximizing the likelihood of the subsequent blast causing debilitating injuries.

Over the next several weeks, Israeli airstrikes pounded Hezbollah, wiping out almost all of its leaders — including Nasrallah himself — and depleting the Iran-backed terror group’s fighting abilities. A ceasefire was eventually reached at the end of November.

Nasrallah’s daughter Zeinab Nasrallah told al-Manar that she called her mother the day after the beeper explosions to find out how her father had reacted.

"She told me that he cried," Zeinab Nasrallah said, according to an English translation of her comments on the site.

Son Mohammed Jawad Nasrallah said that his father sank into a serious depression after a July airstrike killed Hezbollah military commander Fuad Shukr in his Beirut apartment, and then the beeper attacks.

Everyone who met him said "he is no longer with us," Jawad Nasrallah recalled.

In addition, Israel’s relentless bombing campaign, once the conflict escalated into open war, had a profound effect on the Hezbollah leader, and directly impacted the terror group’s morale, Nasrallah said.

He also said that his father was aware of the danger he faced, but apparently had dropped his guard and become less cautious than he had in the past about evading a possible Israeli strike against him.

Ten days after the beeper attack, Israel killed Nasrallah in a massive bombing of his Beirut underground bunker. He had led the terror group for three decades.

Last December, two former Mosssd

agents spoke to CBS’s 60 Minutes about the beeper operation, with one of them asserting that the veteran Hezbollah leader saw pagers exploding and injuring people who were right next to him in his bunker.

"Nasrallah — when we operated the beeper operation — just next to him in the bunker several people had a beeper receiving the message. And in his own eyes, he saw them collapsing."

Asked how he knew that, the agent said, "It’s a strong rumor."

Two days after the attack, Nasrallah gave a speech.

"If you look at his eyes, he was defeated," the agent said in accented English. "He already lose the war. And his soldier look at him during that speech. And they saw a broken leader."

Last week, Mossad chief David Barnea described the beeper operation as a "turning point" in the fight in Lebanon.

Nasrallah was buried last week in a Beirut funeral ceremony. As the funeral began at the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium, Lebanon’s biggest sports arena, Israeli warplanes flew at low altitude over Beirut.

The beeper attacks, swiftly attributed to Israel, came as Israel began to step up a counteroffensive against Hezbollah, which began striking Israel the day after the allied Paleostinian terror group Hamas

and the Bekaa Valley.

The funeral for Nasrallah, and his successor Hashem Safieddine, killed by Israel in early October, is set to take place at Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium on the outskirts of the capital, where giant posters of the two have been hung.

The stadium has a capacity of around 50,000 but Hezbollah organizers have installed thousands of extra seats on the pitch and many more outside, where mourners will be able to follow the ceremony on a giant screen.

The funeral is due to start at 1:00 p.m. and will include a speech by current leader Naim Qassem

Hezbollah’s al-Manar television says the group is deploying 25,000 stewards for crowd control and 4,000 more to supervise the event.

A security source says 4,000 troops and security personnel will also be deployed to the area.

Hezbollah, a terror group which is also a major player in Lebanese politics, has invited top Lebanese officials including President Joseph Aoun to attend.

is to be represented by the speaker of parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iranian media reported.

Representatives of Iraq’s main pro-Iran factions are also expected to attend and additional flights have been scheduled between Baghdad and Beirut.

A single flight from Tehran was also given permission to land before dawn on Sunday, though service from Iran has been suspended over the threat of Israeli strikes on attempts to smuggle weapons or other goods to Hezbollah.

"It is only one flight, carrying official delegations from Tehran to participate in the funeral," airport chief Fadi al-Hassan tells AFP.

Civil aviation authorities say Beirut airport will close exceptionally from midday until 4:00 pm.

The US embassy has urged Americans to avoid the area.

, in a mass funeral aimed at showing political strength after the group emerged badly weakened from last year’s war.

Nasrallah was killed on September 27 in an Israeli airstrike as he met commanders in a bunker in Beirut’s southern suburbs, a stunning blow in the early phase of an Israeli offensive that has left the Iran-backed group a shadow of its former self.

Revered by Hezbollah supporters, Nasrallah led the Shi’ite Moslem group through decades of conflict with Israel, overseeing its transformation into a military force with regional sway and becoming one of the most prominent Arab figures in generations.

The funeral in Beirut’s southern suburbs will also honor Hashem Safieddine, who led Hezbollah for one week after Nasrallah’s death before he was also killed by Israel, underlining how deeply Israeli intelligence had penetrated the terror group. He will be buried in the south on Monday.

"The funeral is a launchpad for the next phase. A great funeral that draws hundreds of thousands is a way of telling everyone that Hezbollah still exists, that it is still the main Shi’ite actor in Lebanon," said Mohanad Hage Ali of the Carnegie Middle East Center.

Israel killed thousands of Hezbollah fighters and inflicted huge destruction in Beirut’s southern suburbs and other areas of Lebanon where Hezbollah embedded its forces. The impact on Hezbollah was compounded by the ousting of its ally Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

in Syria, severing the supply route to Iran.

Its weakened stature has been reflected in Lebanon’s post-war politics, with the group unable to impose its will in the formation of a new government and language legitimizing its arsenal omitted from the new cabinet’s policy statement.

Sheikh Sadeq al-Nabulsi, a holy man close to Hezbollah, said adversaries in Lebanon and abroad believed the group had been defeated, but the funeral would be a message that this was not the case. It would be a "battle to prove Hezbollah’s existence."

The ceremony will be held at Lebanon’s biggest sports arena, the Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium, on the outskirts of the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs.

Nasrallah will then be buried at a dedicated site nearby.

Nasrallah’s death was a huge blow to Iran, whose Revolutionary Guards established Hezbollah in 1982. It was also a blow to allied Shi’ite militias across the region, which also held him in high regard.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will attend, an Iranian official said. An Iraqi delegation, including senior Shi’ite politicians and militia commanders, will fly to Beirut for the funeral on a presidential plane, two Iraqi politicians said. Yemen

s will send a senior delegation led by the Grand Mufti, Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV reported.

Iraqi Airways has added flights to Beirut to cope with extra demand from Iraqis who want to travel to Beirut for the funeral, a spokesperson for the Iraqi transportation ministry said.

Supporters venerate him for opposing Israel and defying the United States. To his foes, he was head of a terrorist organization and a proxy for Iran’s Shi’ite Islamist theocracy in its tussle for influence in the Middle East.

After he was killed, Nasrallah was buried temporarily next to his son, Hadi, who died fighting for Hezbollah in 1997.

His official funeral was scheduled to allow time for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from south Lebanon under the terms of a US-backed ceasefire, which ended last year’s war.

Though Israel has largely withdrawn from the south, its troops continue to hold five hilltop positions in the area.

[IsraelTimes] Channel 12 says Netanyahu approved attack just before UN speech after several days of discussions; claims US, which had been in talks with Israel on ceasefire, left feeling misled

on Saturday.
Iraq? Iran? Regardless, he's a pink mist in a turban
The terror chief was killed Friday in an Israeli strike on Hezbollah’s underground headquarters in Beirut.

The decision to strike Nasrallah was made in recent days — and without apprising the US, according to an Israeli report — with Jerusalem fearing the window of opportunity to take him out would close, unnamed officials told the outlet.

Planning for the operation took place even as Israeli officials were involved in talks with the US on a potential pause in hostilities, and before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu departed to New York early Thursday morning to speak at the United Nations
...an idea whose time has gone...
General Assembly, the report said.

Two of the officials said that over 80 bombs were dropped in the strike, which flattened six buildings in southern Beirut.

Hezbollah confirmed Saturday morning that Nasrallah had been killed, along with the terror group’s southern front commander, Ali Karaki, who had survived an Israeli hit attempt days earlier.

All three of the officials confirmed that Hashem Safieddine, a cousin of Nasrallah and his potential successor, was not at the underground Beirut bunker targeted in the strike.

Nasrallah was targeted by dozens of bunker-busting bombs dropped by Israeli Air Force fighter jets on Hezbollah’s main headquarters in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold known as the Dahiyeh.

Senior Israeli Air Force officials said Saturday the strike went smoothly with no errors or enemy fire on their warplanes.

"Everything we planned was executed precisely, with no errors, both in intelligence, the planning, with the planes, and the operation itself. Everything went smooth," the commander of the IAF’s 69th Squadron told news hounds. Military guidelines require the lieutenant colonel to only be identified by his first initial in Hebrew.

The 69th Squadron flies a fleet of F-15I fighter jets and is based at the Hatzerim Airbase in southern Israel. Half of the pilots who took part in the operation were reservists.

"We went to strike in the heart of Beirut, in the Dahiyeh. We knew who we wanted to target," the commander added.

Brig. Gen. Amichai Levin, the commander of the Hatzerim Airbase, said the "very complex" mission was planned long in advance.

During the strike "no missiles were fired at the planes... and there was no danger to the crews," he said.

"Dozens of munitions hit the target within seconds with very high precision, and this is part of what is required to hit underground sites at this depth," Levin added.

He predicted the killing of Nasrallah would " have a profound effect that will change the face of the Middle East."

HOW IT HAPPENED
According to Israel’s Channel 12 news, Netanyahu approved the strike shortly before he addressed the UN General Assembly in New York, which took place mere hours before the attack. The decision, which had been approved in principle by the cabinet on Thursday evening, was backed by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

A US official told The Times of Israel on Friday that Washington was only notified of the strike after its planes were already in the air and the operation was in motion.

At the same time Netanyahu was in discussions planning the strike, the US believed it was engaged in good faith negotiations with the premier and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer on a potential ceasefire in Leb

A sort of good faith, anyway. America, et al were serious about forcing Israel to a quick truce preparatory to forcing them to give up warring against Hezbollah altogether, regardless of the merits of the offer, just as they have during negotiations with Hamas Hezbollah seriously wanted a hudna so that Iran could rearm them, while Israel wants to be left to fight her war without being forced to stop prematurely.
Once the hit on Nasrallah took place, the US was left with a feeling of having been misled, according to Channel 12.

The channel provided a run-down of what it said were days of consultations between Netanyahu, ministers and defense brass over the plan. It did not provide a source for the information, though anonymous leaks of internal cabinet discussions in Hebrew language media are common.

According to Channel 12, the plan came together on Monday, though it was only discussed Wednesday. An initial meeting with IDF chief of staff Herzi Halevi, Mossad chief David Barnea, Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar and Gallant gave unanimous backing to the plan.

Later, however, some cabinet ministers came out against the move, including Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich. Both Smotrich, an outspoken hawk, and Regional Cooperation Minister David Amsalem were reportedly concerned it would harm the IDF’s ongoing activities in Gazoo

Nonetheless, the cabinet gave its conditional approval, and on Friday Halevi spoke with Gallant and reportedly told him, "We have what we need. We can go ahead with the operation. We know that Nasrallah is in the bunker."

Gallant and Halevi phoned Netanyahu, who was set to speak soon at the General Assembly, and told him they recommended proceeding with the operation.

The prime minister said yes, and then headed to the UN, where he delivered a Friday morning speech that included passages denouncing and threatening Hezbollah, and warning Iran.

Barely an hour later, with the sun getting low in the Middle East, the IAF flew over Beirut and began dropping bombs.

It reported soon after that the operation had been a complete success.

proxies were ready.

Israel has been working to fend off this Iranian plot since October 7 but understood that Nasrallah was the "lynchpin" who could not be ignored.

Nasrallah has led Hezbollah for 32 years, and since October 7 has directed the terror group’s near daily cross-border attacks against Israel that have forced tens of thousands of civilians to evacuate border towns.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: "We cannot survive if we don’t stop this and reverse it," he said, referring to the threat to Israel from Iran-backed militia in the region.

"It’s impossible to reverse it without a general war. That was the assumption — a general war with Hezbollah, which entails the possibility of a broader war with Iran," he surmised.

"The other way to do it was to take him out. If you take him out, you not only neutralize that front — because nothing else will — but you also break a lynchpin. You break a central axis of the axis," the senior Israeli official claimed.

Nasrallah became secretary general of Hezbollah in 1992 at just 35, the public face of a once shadowy group founded by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Revolutionary Guard Corps in 1982 to fight Israeli forces who were then occupying southern Lebanon.

Israel killed Nasrallah’s predecessor, Sayyed
...Arabic term meaning your/his lordship. Groveling in His Exalted Presence is encouraged...
Abbas al-Musawi, in a helizap.

The official defended Israel’s action when asked why killing Nasrallah would change the threat from Hezbollah when earlier liquidations of terror leaders had not hobbled their organizations.

"I think it’s different," the official said. "In many ways he keeps this thing focused, alive and kicking."

"Some people are irreplaceable. It happens. Some people do not have a substitute. That’s one of the cases, there’s no question," the official said.

"About 10 days ago or two weeks ago, the cabinet made a decision that we cannot have — after a year — Israelis who are basically refugees in their own land," the official said.

"So we added a formal war aim to bring our people back, to degrade Hezbollah’s power, to be able to push them back from the border, to destroy the infrastructure along the border, to change the balance of forces."

"The most important thing that we did was to try to take out about half of the missile and rocket capabilities that he built up over the last 30 years with Iran and to take it out in a few hours. And we did," the official said.

"I can’t tell you what will evolve, but I can tell you that this could be a pivot. We don’t seek a broader war. In fact, we seek not to have a broader war and Iran has to consider what it does now," the official said.

Israel has intensified its strikes against Hezbollah in recent days in order to ensure that the terror group doesn’t set a precedent by having forced tens of thousands of Israelis to evacuate their homes for such a long period of time, the official said.

He added that Israel now has momentum against Hezbollah and must keep acting forcefully in order to capitalize on recent gains.

While initial Israeli security assessments indicated that Nasrallah did not survive Friday’s strike, the bigwig said it could take weeks for Israel to confirm his death.

"I think it’s too early to say, but, you know, it’s a question of time. Sometimes they hide the fact when we succeed," the official told news hounds.

"Certainly if he’s alive, you’ll know it very immediately. If he’s dead, it may take some time," he added.

Asked whether Israel would now consider a ceasefire in Lebanon following Friday’s strike, the bigwig was non-committal.

On Thursday, Israel shrugged off a US-led attempt to implement a 21-day ceasefire.

"We are further along than we were, but [Hezbollah] still [has] thousands of rockets," the official said, adding that it would consider itself even closer if Nasrallah was killed in today’s strike. "But in war, when your guy is down, you keep moving."

since Amini, 22, died after her arrest by the morality police for allegedly failing to observe the Islamic republic's strict dress code for women.

Nasrallah said that her death, in circumstances he said remained unclear, was being exploited to incite the protests.

"The Iranian state is a target and so any incident is exploited... to incite against this state," Nasrallah said.

"This vague incident was exploited and people erupted into the streets," he said, referring to Amini's death.

The Hezbollah chief, a staunch Iran ally, said that the protests rocking the country do not reflect the true will of the Iranian people who he said are loyal to their leadership.

Iran "is stronger than ever and will not be affected," he said.

Protests were held across Iran for a 15th consecutive night on Friday, despite a bloody crackdown that the Oslo-based Iran Human Rights group says has claimed more than 80 lives.

It is the bloodiest unrest in Iran since a ruthless crackdown on demonstrations in November 2019 over a sudden hike in fuel prices that killed at least 304 people, according to Amnesia Amnesty International.

Iran has blamed outside forces for the nationwide protests.

Nasrallah: Resistance achieved great victory in Lebanese elections; also, Nakhba Day a catastrophe for all Arabs
2022-05-22
[HODHODYEMENNEWS] General Secretary of Hezbollah. Sayyid His Eminence Sayyed Hassan style=color:maroon;>Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
, says the Sunday parliamentary vote showed that "the resistance achieved great victory in the election."

In his remarks late on Wednesday, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah said the large turnout and the outcome of the election conveyed a message of people’s adherence and commitment to the resistance.

He added that the huge support for Hezbollah and its allies in the election showed people’s commitment to the path of resistance.

After years of aggressive campaign targeting the resistance, spearheaded by the Americans, the number of votes and parliament members have only increased for Hezbollah and its allies in the Arab country, according to Sayyid Nasrallah’s speech.

The Hezbollah leader furthermore said that contrary to claims, there was no single bloc in the parliament that could claim the majority in elections, adding that "none of the honest political parties have made that claim."

"The advantage of not having a single party or group owning the majority in the parliament, is that it makes everyone equally responsible."

The Hezbollah leader said that "the nature of the crisis in Leb
...an Iranian colony situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozeen flavors of Christians. It is the home of Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
does not allow one single group to solve the crisis single-handedly even if they have the majority, which calls for cooperation between all different groups."

He also debunked lies promoted by the opposition, including claims that the resistance bloc has sought to postpone the election, that elections were held under the presence of Hezbollah’s weapons, or Iranian influence.

"We saw the American embassy and the electoral lists that were made there. We saw the Saudi ambassador and bags of money that were spent. Did anyone see any Iranian intruding in those elections?" he remarked.

Nasrallah called for changing the current election law, saying "it should not be possible for people to win a seat in the parliament with 500 votes while others who get thousands of votes do not reach the parliament."

Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah hastened to add that there are several reforms that need to be made in the election process, such as setting the voting age at 18. The division of the districts should also be changed and replaced with making Lebanon a single electoral district, he insisted.

Hassan Nasrallah has said that Nakba Day 'not only a catastrophe for Palestine but for all the Arab nations in the region.'

[HODHODYEMENNEWS] General Secretary of the Hezbollah movement, Sayyid His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has said that Nakba Day, which marks the dau when the Zionist regime was created, was "not only a catastrophe for Paleostine but for all the Arab nations in the region."

"The Paleostinian people will no longer wait for Arab regimes to come to their help, as they have chosen the path of resistance against the occupying Israeli regime," Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah said, stressing that" "Arab regimes are unable to protect their own nations, let alone defend the Paleostinian cause."

The Sayyid said this during his speech on Friday, commemorating the 6th anniversary of the martyrdom of Sayyid Mustafa Badr al-Deen, a military leader of Hezbollah and an advisor to Sayyid Nasrallah himself.

The Hezbollah leader said that martyr Badr al-Deen "fought against the global arrogance
That'd be us. They get tired of bitching about the Great Satan sometimes.
led by the United States and the Israeli regime."

"Badr al-Deen’s generation did not wait for any Arab, Islamic, or international decisions to start their resistance," he stated.

According to Nasrallah, "the Paleostinian people too will no longer wait for Arab regimes, the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
, or the United Nations

to come to their help in the fight against the Israeli occupation."

Nasrallah: If Israel attacks Iran, Hezbollah won’t necessarily join fight
2022-02-10
[IsraelTimes] Lebanese terror chief claims Israel and US fear war with Islamic Theocratic Republic, warns of ’a very intense and harsh’ Iranian response in case of Israeli attack.

Hezbollah chief His Eminence Sayyed Hassan style=color:maroon;>Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
on Tuesday claimed Israel was not serious about actually attacking Iran. But if it does, he said, his Lebanese terror group will not automatically retaliate on Tehran’s behalf, but will decide whether or not to get involved.
Interesting...
In an interview with Iranian state TV, the leader of the Iran-backed Shiite organization appeared to attempt to assert Hezbollah’s independence from Tehran, while also claiming Israel was afraid to go to war against either.

"Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
is a strong regional state and any war with it will blow up the entire region," he said, according to Naharnet.

Amid domestic criticism that his group acts in Tehran’s interests and not Lebanon Hezbollahstan
...Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. ...
’s, he challenged anyone to "tell us about a single act that Hezbollah did for the sake of Iran rather than for the sake of Lebanon."

He denied the Iranian embassy in Beirut was involved in Hezbollah’s decision-making.

Nasrallah claimed that the United States fears going to war with Iran, asserting it was incapable of stopping Tehran’s nuclear program. He also warned of "a very intense and harsh" Iranian response if Israel attacks Iran.

"Iran is not on joking terms with anyone," he was quoted as saying by Press TV.

He claimed that Hezbollah’s precision-guided missiles were spread all around Lebanon, so Israel would need to launch a full-scale war in order to destroy them.

He also accused Israel of being afraid to go to war against Hezbollah.

"Were the Israeli regime certain that it would be victorious in a war with Hezbollah, it would not hesitate for even a moment," Nasrallah said.

He also claimed that Israeli drone flights over Lebanon have been "greatly reduced" due to Hezbollah’s improved air defenses.

Nasrallah added that he opposes sharing offshore gas with Israel and does not really care about negotiations between Beirut and Jerusalem over determining the countries’ exclusive economic zones.

"We do not consider ourselves to be concerned with the technical discussions about the sea border demarcation with Israel," he said.

Nasrallah’s remarks come several weeks after both Israel and Lebanon announced their intentions to resume talks over an area of about 860 square kilometers (330 square miles) of the Mediterranean Sea that both countries claim as being within their exclusive economic zones.

The US envoy mediating the talks has since met with Israeli and Lebanese officials.

The two countries started indirect negotiations through a US mediator in 2020 at a UN peacekeeping base in Lebanon’s Naqoura, but the talks have stalled several times. The last round of talks on the matter was held last May.

Lebanon has sunk deep into an economic and financial crisis that started in late 2019 — a culmination of decades of corruption and mismanagement by the political class.

The small Mediterranean country is eager to resolve its border dispute with Israel, paving the way for potential lucrative oil and gas deals.
Finally a motivation for Lebanon to negotiate seriously instead of falling back on Jew hate.

Army Circulates Photo of Third 'Dangerous Fugitive' this Week
2014-02-23
[An Nahar] The army on Saturday circulated the photo of a man it described as a "dangerous runaway," calling on whoever recognizes him to report to the military institution.

"We urge anyone who recognizes the dangerous runaway to call the Army Command's operations center on 1701 or to report by using the military institution's smart phone application LAF Shield," the army said in a communique.

Later in the evening, LBCI television said the circulated photo probably belongs to the second jacket wallah in Beirut's Bir Hassan style='border-bottom-width:1px;border-bottom-style:dotted;border-bottom-color:gray;' title='explosion'>kaboom that took place on Wednesday.

"It was found partially deformed on the scene of the blasts," it added.

On Wednesday, the army also made public a picture of a "dangerous runaway" which turned out to belong to Paleostinian Nidal al-Mghayyar.

Al-Mghayyar is one of the suicide bombers behind the latest deadly attack on the Beirut neighborhood of Bir Hassan.

The identity of the man in the picture was revealed after the father of al-Moghayar contacted the army intelligence as he realized the photo is that of his son.

Meanwhile,

another photograph circulated by the Lebanese Army on Monday turned out to belong to Syrian national Fares Hussein al-Hmoud, who was an assistant to detained Qaeda-linked Death Eater Naim Abbas.

Local Leaders Deplore Hermel Blast
2014-02-23
[An Nahar] Several local leaders and politicians on Saturday were quick to condemn the latest kaboom in the Bekaa town of Hermel, soon after a suicide kaboom claimed the life of several troops and civilians at an army checkpoint in al-Assi bridge area in the village.

Prime Minister Tammam Salam deplored the "terrorist" attacks, considering that targeting the military institution is an act against a cornerstone in the country.

"We call on Lebanese to unite against terrorism in all its forms and to block the road in front of plans that aim at harming Leb, its institutions and its people," Salam said in a released statement.

"The army and the security forces were and will always be the protectors of the country."

He offered his condolences to the military institution and to Army chief Gen. Jean Qahwaji, adding that Saturday's "deaders are a symbol of Leb's pride, prestige and illusory sovereignty."

Former PM Saad Hariri
Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too.
also contacted Qahwaji to offer his condolences over the death of several troops in the blast.

"We announce our full solidarity with the military institution and security forces in their mission to preserve stability and security in the country," Hariri said in a released statement.

Ex-premier Najib Miqati "strongly deplored" the attack, lamenting that the army always "pays the price in Leb."

Meanwhile,
...back at the cheese factory, there was only one thought in the mouse's mind: I can do this! I can do this! Then the trap sprung...
Industry Minister Hussein al-Hajj Hassan considered that despite the prevailing consensual atmosphere and the agreement reached on facing terrorism following the cabinet's formation, several "justifications were made following the Bir Hassan style='border-bottom-width:1px;border-bottom-style:dotted;border-bottom-color:gray;' title='explosion'>kabooms (in southern Beirut) for political reasons and gains."

"If there is in fact an agreement on fighting terrorism, terrorists' acts should not be justified," he stated.

The Hizbullah
...Party of God, a Leb militia inspired, founded, funded and directed by Iran. Hizbullah refers to itself as The Resistance and purports to defend Leb against Israel, with whom it has started and lost one disastrous war to date, though it did claim victory...
minister said there are "political, geographical and ideological spheres that embrace terrorism."

"Terrorists should know that they have no place among us," he said, calling for fighting all forms of terrorism.

AMAL Movement stated that Saturday's blast comes as the army has exposed terrorist and criminal schemes targeting different regions in the country.

"The terrorist war has become exposed and uncovered in Leb," a statement released by the party said.

It added: "National duty calls on everyone, especially the cabinet, to stand beside the military institution and support it with all means because it is the shield protecting Leb from ongoing terrorist plans."

Labor Minister Sejaan Qazzi condemned "the Takfiri
...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who most be killed...
terrorism that is killing innocents and inciting sedition in the country."

He also noted that the ministerial committee tasked with drafting the new cabinet's policy statement agreed on giving "an utmost attention to combating terrorism."

Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, Bossy's udder had begun to ache...
Minister of Culture Roni Araiji expressed that "an attack against the military institution is an attack on Leb and an attempt to harm the country and its civilized character."

"The army was and will always be the shield against terrorism and terrorists," he said.

Palestinian Leadership, Relatives of Suicide Bomber Disavow his Actions
2013-11-25
[An Nahar] The Paleostinian leadership and the family of jacket wallah Adnan Mohammed, who targeted the Iranian embassy in Beirut earlier this week, disavowed him on Sunday after a similar move by the relatives of the other bomber.

The leadership reiterated its condemnation of the attack and stood by Leb and its leaders in "confronting criminal groups that have no religious or patriotic belongings."

"The cowardly act is a private action ... and serves only the enemies of our cause," it said in a statement.

Mohammed's family also "condemned with the strongest terms this criminal act," which it said served Israel.

The family extended condolences to the relatives of those killed in "the cowardly act."

It also condoled the Islamic Theocratic Republic over the death of Ibrahim Ansari, a 54-year-old Iranian diplomat, in the bombing.

"This personal act has nothing to do with the family and its patriotic history in addition to its deaders in resisting the Zionist enemy," said the statement.

Mohammed's relatives also thanked the security and social leaderships of the town of Baysariyeh and mainly the municipal chief for "expressing their understanding to this private act which is far away from our values."

"Our choice was and will always be the resistance," they said.

On Friday, the family of Moein Abu Dahr, the Lebanese bomber, "strongly" condemned in a released statement the deadly kabooms.

"We are deeply saddened that one of our relatives is accused of being behind the Bir Hassan style='border-bottom-width:1px;border-bottom-style:dotted;border-bottom-color:gray;' title='explosion'>kabooms," the statement posted on several Sidon-based websites said.

"We condemn this awful crime and we do not have enough words to describe it, offering our condolences to the families of the victims," the statement added.

DNA Samples Confirm Moein Abu Dahr, Adnan Mohammed as Iranian Embassy Suicide Bombers
2013-11-24
[An Nahar] DNA samples from the father of Moein Abu Dahr and the relatives of Adnan Mohammed confirmed that they are the jacket wallahs who targeted the Iranian Embassy
...You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!...
in Beirut in an attack that killed at least 23 people.

The army command issued a communique confirming that the test on Adnan Abu Dahr showed that human remains at the scene of the attacks belonged to his son, Mouein.

"The DNA testing was carried out from samples taken from the father of Moein and proved that he is involved in the suicide kaboom," General Prosecutor Samir Hammoud told Voice of Leb radio (93.3).

State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr also confirmed the reports in comments to the state-run National News Agency.

Later during the day, the NNA reported that the second suspect in the attack was identified as Adnan Moussa Mohammed and his father is in army custody to carry out DNA tests.

Adnan Mohammed is a Paleostinian from the Ein el-Hellhole Paleostinian refugee camp and a staunch supporter of Salafist holy man Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir
...Leb Salafist holy man with the usual grouch against Shiites. Currently on the run, he seems intent on reigniting the Leb civil war...

After the photograph of Adnan was distributed the army intelligence directorate received several calls identifying him and his father, Moussa, claimed the picture showed his son. The army did not specify what crimes Mohammed was wanted for.

But on Saturday evening, the army issued a communique confirming that human remains found at the scene of the kabooms in Bir Hassan belonged to Adnan Moussa Mohammed.

Mohammed's uncle said in comments to LBCI the family is in a state of "shock," denouncing the attack.

"We repudiate him," the uncle said.
"Please don't kill us too!"
LBCI also reported that security forces are pursuing other al-Asir supporters to question them over the involvement in the blasts and other future attacks.

Moein Abu Dahr hails from the southern port city of Sidon and is close to al-Asir, and had warned of "Dire Revenge™" three days before the Bir Hassan blasts.

Al-Asir's hard-line supporters battled Lebanese soldiers in June.

On Thursday, after the photograph of one of the dangerous desperados was distributed, Adnan Abu Dahr came to the intelligence directorate and claimed the picture showed his son.

Moein Abu Dahr had promised al-Asir on his page on the social networking website Facebook that he will take Dire Revenge™.

"They let you down Sheikh, but we will retaliate," he wrote.

And a day before the Bir Hassan bombings, Abu Dahr took to Facebook to say that heaven "has opened its doors to receive him."

In a related matter, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant posted a picture of Abu Dahr on Twitter, commenting that he's "the suicide bomber that attacked the Iranian embassy," without mentioning Beirut in the caption.

Later on Friday evening, the Abu Dahr family "strongly" condemned in a released statement the deadly kabooms.

Fake identity cards used by the suicide attackers behind the blasts in Beirut's Bir Hassan neighborhood were made public on Thursday.

At least 23 people were killed and more than 145 others were maimed in a twin suicide kaboom that took place on Tuesday morning near the Iranian Embassy in the neighborhood of Bir Hassan in Beirut's southern suburbs.

A security official said the first suicide attacker was on a cycle of violence that carried two kilograms of explosives. He went kaboom! at the large black main gate of the Iranian mission, damaging the three-story facility.

Less than two minutes later, the second suicide attacker driving a car rigged with 50 kilograms of explosives struck about 10 meters away, the official said.

An al-Qaeda-linked group, the Lebanese Abdullah Azzam Brigades, grabbed credit for the attack Tuesday. They said it was payback for the military support that Iran and Hizbullah provide against the mainly Sunni rebels fighting the government of Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Supressor of the Damascenes...

The Syrian conflict, in its third year, also has become a confrontation between regional powers. It has exacerbated tensions between Leb's Sunnis and Shiites as well. The embassy bombing was one of the deadliest in a series of attacks targeting Hizbullah its strongholds in Leb in recent months.
