They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....

] A week after similar state-wide searches, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday carried out extensive searches in Jammu & Kashmir, in the premises of "cadres and hybrid Death Eaters and Overground Workers linked with the newly-formed offshoots and affiliates of several major banned Pak-backed terror outfits."

The raids, in the terror conspiracy case, were continuing till late in the evening. They were spread across locations in Anantnag, Srinagar, Budgam, Shopian, Kulgam and Baramulla districts of Kashmir, as well as in Poonch, Rajouri and Kishtwar districts of Jammu, said an NIA front man, in a statement.

The NIA has been investigating the activities of newly floated terrorist groups, such as "The Resistance® Front (TRF)", "United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (UL J&K)", "Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH)", "Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF)", Kashmir Tigers, PAAF and others. These outfits are affiliated to Laskhar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), al-Badr, al-Qaeda, etc., he said.

Tuesday’s raids, conducted at a total of 16 locations (12 in the Kashmir Valley and four in Jammu division), were part of NIA’s investigations into the activities of OGWs and cadres in support of these new terror outfits. "These cadres and workers have been found involved in collection and distribution of sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, IEDs, cash, drugs and small weapons, as well as in spreading activities relating to terror, violence and subversion in J&K. Investigations have further revealed that Pak-based operatives were using drones to deliver weapons, bombs, drugs etc. to their operatives and cadres in the Kashmir valley."

NIA had earlier, on 2nd May, conducted raids at 12 locations in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the seizure of incriminating material and digital devices, in the terror conspiracy case it had registered suo motu
...a legal term, from the Latin. Roughly translated it means I saw what you did, you bastard...
on 21st June 2022, added the front man.

"The case (RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU) related to the hatching of a conspiracy, both physical and cyber space, and plans by the proscribed terrorist organizations to unleash violent mostly peaceful terrorist attacks in J&K with sticky bombs, IEDs and small arms. The plans are part of a larger conspiracy by these terrorist outfits to commit acts of terror and violence, in association with local youth/overground workers, to disturb peace and communal disharmony in J&K."

Traffic violation incident: Case against warden, 18 others for ‘standing up to’ influential person
2019-05-24
[DAWN] Police on Wednesday started the paperwork but haven't done much else against a traffic warden who refused to withdraw an FIR against a ruling party MPA’s supporter.

The Ghulam Mohammadabad police registered the case at the behest of the MPA to browbeat the warden and force him to go for reconciliation. Eighteen other people including three coppers who tossed in the calaboose
Please don't kill me!
the supporter of the MPA have also been booked on charges of threatening a family with dire consequences.

Submitting an application, Azhar Mushtaq (a brother of Adnan) said 17 gunnies including warden Muhammad Asif and four coppers entered his house and threatened his family with dire consequences. Mushtaq said police entered his house to settle score of an incident in which his brother Akhtar had exchanged harsh words with Asif.

Police started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the warden when he refused to withdraw the case against Adnan and Zeeshan. The case was registered under sections 147, 149, 186, 353 and 506 of PPC on May 15.

In his application, the warden said he had stopped Zeeshan for driving his cycle of violence without helmet and impounded the vehicle for not having any document. He said Adnan, the employer of Zeeshan, also came there and questioned him for the action and also roughed him up with the help of his accomplices.

Traffic coppers said they had informed the police higher-ups that Gulberg circle DSP Usman Warraich was obliging the MPA and had started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the warden. They said the case had been instituted on false grounds as during the interrogation on Tuesday, the applicant failed to prove his claim that coppers entered his house.

The DSP asked the warden to submit his reply in writing so that the matter could be closed. However,
you can observe a lot just by watching...
the DSP instead of ensuring justice, started the paperwork but haven't done much else against the warden.

The officials requested Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and IGP Arif Nawaz to look into the issue and ensure justice for the warden.

"Now the police officials are trying to convince us that the case has been instituted against the warden and the coppers so that a challan
... list of charges ...
against the supporters of the MPA could be submitted rather than leaving any room for reconciliation," says a traffic police official.

The DSP did not respond to the message this correspondent forwarded to seek his version.

Regional Police Officer Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said he would look into the issue.

Killing Of Key Taliban Commander May Affect War
2018-12-05
[ToloNews] Afghan Interior and Defense Ministries and local officials of southern Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
province on Monday said the war status in the south of Afghanistan will change, following the killing of Mullah Mohammad Rahim Mannan, head of Taliban
...Arabic for students...
’s military commission and Taliban’s designated governor for Helmand.

Mullah Mohammad Rahim Mannan, also known as Mullah Abdulmannan Akhund, was killed on Saturday in Helmand’s Nawzad district in a dronezap.

Mannan was killed along with four other Taliban members, including two of his spokesmen, who were with him at the time of the strike.

A day after Mannan’s killing, the Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan released footage which shows a Taliban center bombed by foreign forces in a dronezap in Sangin district in Helmand province. Resolute Support said 29 Taliban members were killed in the strike.

Now Afghan military officials say Mannan’s loss will affect the war in the south of Afghanistan.

"He was a key commander in the south and south-east of the country and was involved in most offensives and insecurities in Helmand and neighboring provinces," Interior Ministry front man Najib Danish said.

"He was also a drug smuggler. He was involved in insecurities in Helmand, Farah, Nimroz and Kandahar provinces," Defense Ministry front man Ghafoor Ahmad Jawed said.

"In terms of the military, when a commander or leader is killed in an area, the group definitely will be affected negatively," MP Khalilullah Shahidzada said.

Helmand local officials also said Mannan was one of the most influential and important commanders of the Taliban in the south of Afghanistan, who in addition to insurgency activities, was involved in drugs’ production and smuggling.

According to officials, he was shadow governor for Helmand province for eight years, and in recent years there were rumors he made decisions independently, without consulting other Taliban Überstürmbannführers.

"He had established a gang for himself and the group was busy collecting illegal money and smuggling drugs," Mohammad Yasin, governor of Helmand said.

"He was a big drugs' smuggler and he was earning money from this," Majid Akhundzada, a member of Helmand provincial council said.

While efforts on reaching a peace agreement between the Taliban and the Afghan government have been ongoing for many years and recently have been accelerated, officials from the High Peace Council (HPC) in Helmand said they never were able to contact Mannan in this regard.

"We could not make any direct contact with him. The other issue is that I do not think the war will end with the death of individuals," Helmand HPC member Ghulam Mohammad Ishaqzai said.

Although Mannan has been said to be one of the most important Taliban Überstürmbannführers in the south of Afghanistan, only a few pictures of him were released recently by the Taliban and there is not much information about him.

Taliban on Sunday in a statement confirmed Mannan’s killing.
