High-Tech Migrants' ‘Jackpotting' Schemes Steal Fortunes from ATMs

[Breitbart] Criminals hacking ATMs for illegal cash dispersals, a.k.a “Jackpotting,” have reportedly ripped off thousands of dollars in Texas and Wisconsin.

The U.S. Secret Service describes “jackpotting” as criminals manipulating ATMs into spitting out cash through “malicious software and/or computer hardware,” per KSAT. Unchecked, machines could potentially drain dry with a loss totaling in the thousands.

“The machine will just continue to dispense until it’s drained. It could be 97 dispenses, it could be 70,” said Laura Ward, chief risk officer for Firstmark Credit Union, told the outlet.

“These days we see all kinds of crimes, but this is a particularly different kind,” she added. “The ATMs are really being preyed upon. We call it an attack because it is an attack.”

In Houston, Texas, authorities say they linked one such “jackpotting” scheme to criminals with links to Russia. Per KSAT:

Earlier this week, two people were arrested in Houston, suspected of being part of a jackpotting group with potential ties to Russia.

While Ward did not disclose how much money was taken from Firstmark, she did say the crime can take a heavy financial toll on the banking institution.

The credit union has been working with local, state and federal authorities since it was attacked. She said she wants to raise awareness about it to help combat the problem.

The attacks happened over the course of several hours throughout the night, with the alleged criminals either manipulating the ATMs on site or remotely. As the machine dispenses cash, the perps come to collect, as surveillance video has shown.

“It’s very organized, and that’s one of the things I think is really critical to understand,” Ward said.

In Marshfield, Wisconsin, three men were recently charged for a December “jackpotting” scheme that ripped off over $100,000 from a credit union’s ATM machine. Per Marshfield News Herald:

Jhoenderson D. Rojas Eganez, 27, currently in the Kewaunee County Jail, has been charged with four felony counts of theft from a financial institution (value exceeds $100,000), interference with an automated teller machine, possession of burglarious tools and computer crimes-accessing data to defraud. Alejandro J. Sevilla Sanabria, 25, currently in the Kewaunee County Jail, and Worlly W. Garcia Albarracin, 35, of Berwyn, Illinois, have both been charged with four felony counts of being a party to the crimes of theft from a financial institution (value exceeds $100,000), interference with an automated teller machine, possession of burglarious tools and computer crimes-accessing data to defraud.

Arrest warrants were issued Wednesday and Thursday for the three men, according to online records. No court dates have been scheduled.

Over $114,000 in cash was reportedly stolen from the ATM.

The alleged ringleader is Vitalii Moravel a Ukrainian war refugee on a humanitarian visa from the federal government, according to KPRC2 TV station in Houston, Texas.

“Moravel is believed to receive instructions from a ‘big boss’ located in Russia, Det. Collins said, highlighting the international scope of this criminal operation,” the station reported.WSAW.com reported on the Wisconsin theft:

According to Rojas Eganez Wood County’s criminal complaint, he said he was working for an organization that provided him with training, equipment, a cell phone and money to conduct thefts from ATMs. He said the group monitored police traffic radio and alerted him that police were dispatched to the bank.

Matt Driscoll, a 43-year-old columnist and opinion editor for The News Tribune (TNT), died unexpectedly at his Tacoma home this Sunday.

Driscoll’s death was announced by his news network.

Driscoll reportedly suffered an apparent medical emergency from which he could not be revived. The official cause of death is yet to be determined, according to TNT.

It was reported that he had received a COVID-19 vaccination.

Driscoll had been vocal about NFL star Aaron Rodgers’ controversial views on COVID-19 vaccines. He accused Rodgers of engaging in "performance art" after the latter warned people about potential side effects of mRNA vaccines.

Rogers "repeated popular conspiracy theories about Covid vaccines, cited a number of discredited sources and claimed he was being ’cancelled’ and ’censored’ for ’doing his own research.’"

Parliament is often at its best in moments of crisis and war. Foreign policy debates, where domestic politics stop at the water’s edge, are usually freer of partisan rancor and political point-scoring. But something went very wrong on Wednesday. Amid unprecedented chaos and uproar, MPs wrangled bitterly over arcane matters of parliamentary procedure. As the vote neared, the famous green benches emptied and MPs from the governing Conservative Party and the pro-independence Scottish National Party (SNP) — for once, allies against the main opposition Labour Party — walked out of the chamber in protest.

The domestic fallout is continuing with the position of the Speaker of the House of Commons, Lindsay Hoyle, apparently under threat.

While radio phone-in programs provided an opportunity for members of the public to vent their fury at MPs’ "playground politics," the reality is potentially far worse: that all the noise and fury was a reflection of the intimidation that parliamentarians are coming under from Islamist and far-left elements of the pro-Paleostinian movement.

It’s undeniable that party politics played heavily into Wednesday’s proceedings.

In November, the left-wing, anti-Israel SNP caused Labour leader Keir Starmer a political headache by putting forth a motion calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Starmer, who has adopted a pro-Israel line and avoided such calls, suffered a parliamentary revolt as more than 50 of his MPs rebelled — some losing their shadow ministerial roles — and, defying the party whip, backed the SNP.

Using one of its allotted parliamentary days, the SNP was determined to repeat the gambit this week. Rather than attempting to seek consensus, its motion appeared designed to cause division and maximum discomfort for Labour. With the briefest of nods to the need for Hamas

to release the Israelis it seized on October 7, the motion called for an immediate ceasefire and lambasted the "collective punishment of the Paleostinian people."

As the SNP well knew, there was no way Starmer — who, polls show, is likely to become Britannia’s prime minister at a general election expected this autumn — would authorize his MPs to back such a one-sided call. Many Labour MPs — some reports suggest up to 100 — would have rebelled to back the motion, so desperate are they to show they support a ceasefire. For the SNP, this was a potential win-win. It wouldn’t just have provoked a nasty split in Labour’s ranks — it would also have allowed the SNP to tell left-leaning Scottish voters that the Labour leadership are pseudo-Tories who oppose a ceasefire.

The SNP, which runs the devolved Scottish government and holds most of Scotland’s seats in the Westminster parliament, is engaged in a political dogfight north of the border. Labour, which ruled the roost in Scotland before the failed 2014 independence referendum, is determined to rebuild its once-impregnable bastion and is making steady progress. If the polls tighten, it’ll need Scottish seats to form the next UK government. The SNP is thus happy to reach for any issue — including matters of life and death thousands of miles from Britannia — with which to batter Starmer and present him as hopelessly right-wing.

CACOPHONY OF VOICES
Things got so messy on Wednesday because both Labour and the Conservative-led government opted to raise their own amendments to the SNP motion. Substantively, there was barely a hair’s breadth between the two amendments.

Labour’s amendment spoke of an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire" and an "immediate stop to the fighting," but it carefully caveated that. Not only must Hamas release the hostages, but any ceasefire must be "observed by all sides," Labour said. "Israel cannot be expected to cease fighting if Hamas continues with violence," and Israelis have "the right to the assurance that the horror of October 7 cannot happen again."

The government’s amendment, which condemned the "slaughter, abuse and gender-based violence" of October 7 and backed "Israel’s right to self-defense," spoke of "an immediate humanitarian pause" and "moves towards a permanent sustainable ceasefire."

As the House of Commons’ brass hats warned Hoyle, "long-established conventions" mandate that the Speaker should only have selected the SNP and government motions for a debate and vote — not Labour’s. But Hoyle broke that convention and opted to allow all three motions to come before the House.

Unusually, Hoyle — a Labour MP before he was elected by MPs to the non-partisan role — met with Starmer shortly before making his decision. There have been allegations — strenuously denied by the Labour leader — that he put undue pressure on Hoyle, even threatening that the party wouldn’t support him remaining as Speaker if it wins the next election. Instead, Starmer says, he simply asked Hoyle to ensure that "the broadest possible debate" took place.

Whatever happened, Hoyle’s decision to allow the Labour motion to come up for a vote infuriated both the government and the SNP. Ministers announced they were pulling their amendment and sitting out the vote; the SNP and Tory MPs staged walkouts and demanded the Speaker appear before the House to explain himself.

Ironically, the upshot was that, amid all the chaos, the Labour motion went through on a nod. Such votes aren’t binding on the government and are largely symbolic. Moreover, the government will be well aware that if they hadn’t pulled their amendment in protest, the Tories’ majority would likely have enabled it to pass.

SAFETY FIRST?
Starmer undoubtedly had a strong political interest in ensuring his MPs got the chance to vote for the Labour amendment. But what appears to have swayed the Speaker’s decision were warnings from Labour that its MPs feared for their safety and that of their families if they couldn’t register publicly that they had voted for an "immediate humanitarian ceasefire."

Indeed, when he apologized to the House on Thursday for making a decision which, he admitted, had been a "mistake," Hoyle explicitly referenced this. "I won’t share the details, but the details of the things that have been brought to me are absolutely frightening on all members of this House, on all sides," he said. "I have a duty of care... and if my mistake is looking after members, I am guilty."

Hoyle is a straight arrow; fundamentally decent and well-regarded on all sides of the House. As one senior Conservative MP — who disagreed with Hoyle’s decision — said, the Speaker is "obsessed" with the safety of MPs and their staff.

He is right to be. For all the public’s gripes about politicians in general, many hold their own MP in high regard. That has much to do with their accessibility. Only the most senior members of the government have police protection. That accessibility has come with a heavy price tag. Twice in the past eight years, MPs have been brutally murdered as they went about their constituency duties. A young female Labour MP, Jo Cox, was rubbed out by a right-wing bad boy in 2016, while the much-liked Tory MP David Amess was stabbed to death by an Islamist terrorist in 2021 as he met constituents at an advice surgery.

The political strife over Brexit increased concerns around MPs’ security. Female MPs appear to have been a particular target for misogynists, especially on social media. And the antisemitism scandal in the Labour Party under its former hard-left leader Jeremy Corbyn left a number of his critics, including Jewish Labour MPs Ruth Smeeth and Luciana Berger, in need of extra security.

RAMPED UP POTENTIAL FOR VIOLENCE
But the war between Israel and Hamas has heightened the risk to MPs to new levels. From the outset, part of the pro-Paleostinian movement has been aggressive, uncompromising and vitriolic towards those who fail to toe its line.

Referencing his visit last week to the country, one Jewish Tory MP, Andrew Percy, told the House of Commons on Thursday that he "felt safer in Israel than I do in this country at this moment in time."

"For months I’ve been standing up here talking about the people on our streets demanding death to Jews, demanding Jihad, demanding intifadas as the police stand by and allow that to happen," he said. "This is going to continue happening because we’re not dealing with it."

Over recent weeks, MPs who have failed to support a ceasefire have been subjected to what one termed "vile abuse"; their offices have been attacked; and their family homes have been surrounded by demonstrators. Even as MPs were debating Gaza on Wednesday, protesters "stormed" the constituency office of Labour members of the Scottish parliament in Glasgow following a demonstration called by the Gaza Genocide Emergency Committee.

Some MPs, understandably, are calling it a day. Mike Freer, the pro-Israel Conservative MP for Finchley and Golders Green in North London, announced last month he was standing down at the next election. His constituency office was set alight in an arson attack in December, and he’s been subject to "serious threats" for several years.

Sadly, as one target leaves the scene, another emerges. Within hours of his victory in a special election last week, pro-Paleostinian activists began to focus on Labour MP Damien Egan. Egan, who converted to Judaism in 2018, is married to Yossi Felberbaum, an Israeli who has served in the IDF.

Whatever their differences, senior Labour and the Conservatives MPs are deeply concerned about the threats and intimidation.

They also agree that a Rubicon may have been crossed on Wednesday.

"Members of Parliament now feel that they have to vote in a certain way in order to safeguard their safety and that of their family," Tory MP Sir Charles Walker said during the debate. "That is a far bigger issue than the debate we are having tonight because if people are changing their votes or their behavior in this place because they are frightened of what may happen to them or their family out there, we have a real problem."

Gaza may be the flashpoint, but for Britons of all parties, a wider question — one which goes to the heart of the country’s centuries-old constitution — is at stake.

As David Wolfson, a Conservative member of the House of Lords, suggested in response to Wednesday night’s debate: "So the Speaker took his exceptional decision because of real threats to the safety of MPs, their families and staff. The old rule is proved yet again: what starts with the Jews, never ends with the Jews. Perhaps we can now, finally, stand up to those who threaten our democracy."

Were They Spying on Trump All Along?

[American Thinker] Psychological projection is the stock in trade of our American ruling class. You can see this in the way the D.C. Deep State always treated President Trump as a totally illegitimate bum; especially as regards their most precious possession, classified material. Recall the furor when Trump revealed some Israeli information to the Russian foreign minister, in a bid to get help from them in the Middle East.

Such top-secret horse trading goes on all the time, yet since Trump is a bum, he cannot be allowed the traditional power with respect to classified documents that all Presidents have, as in Navy v. Egan.

Secrets are only for the bureaucrats to leak as they please with no consequences, like the Flynn/Kislyak phone call, or to simply ignore when it involves their friends, such as Hillary’s email scandal.

Neither James Comey nor the guy, John Huber, finally appointed by Jeff Sessions to look into the Hillary emails, even bothered to convene a grand jury. The whole fake Huber investigation is particularly galling. After Trump demanded action for years, all his DoJ did was appoint a guy who stayed in Utah and reviewed a few files.

But Donald Trump, no secrets for him. As soon as he left office, Joe Biden cancelled the usual classified briefings all former Presidents get. Then the hunt was on to nail him for having classified/declassified documents; something all former Presidents routinely possess.

Biden’s DoJ had no trouble getting a grand jury for Trump, barely a year after he left office, and it was in the wrong venue, risking a dismissal of the whole case right away. Even Andrew McCarthy figured out this was all wrong. If somebody was unhappy with Trump procrastinating the work of cleaning up his archives and wanted to go to court, the proper venue was Florida, not D.C.

Somebody high up in the Deep State must have conceived a plan and needed a craven Swamp Creature like Judge Beryl Howell of the D.C. District to approve the dirty work. And is the National Archives (NARA) really the instigating party here, or were they just the cat’s paw for that somebody in the Deep State?

Everyone has already heard a lot about the Presidential Records Act (PRA) and the Espionage Act, but bear with me. Under the PRA, the NARA already works with a White House in sorting out what is and is not a Presidential record while a President is in office; so the day he leaves the White House, the stuff that goes with him is presumably not a Presidential record, but personal/business/political etc.

Indictment Blockbuster – Supreme Court Has Trump Smiling Ear to Ear

The two got into a fight over the indictment of former President Donald Trump on Sunday, which led to the incident.

"The indictment does say, as I mentioned, the documents included U.S. defense, nuclear capabilities, potential U.S. vulnerabilities to a military attack. They were kept in unsecure areas, like a bathroom, a ballroom, a bedroom," the host said to start the interview.

"And the indictment says that Donald Trump lied to lawyers, his own lawyers, which resulted in false statements to the FBI, so that he could keep those documents. Is all of that, any of that acceptable to you?" she said.

"Dana, the standard is clear. The standard is Navy v. Egan, a 1988 case, unanimous decision from the courts, from the court, that — Justice Blackmun wrote the opinion. And it said the president’s ability to classify and control access to national security information flows from the Constitution. He decides. He alone decides. He said he declassified this material. He can put it wherever he wants. He can handle it however he wants. That’s the law," Jordan said.

"That’s the standard. And Jack Smith can do all this 37 different counts and whatever he wants to do, but that doesn’t change the standard. The standard that the Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, said was that he can classify and he can control access. He has the sole authority," he said.

"In this indictment, he states on at least one occasion that he did not declassify the information. When he’s showing a document to somebody who doesn’t have a security clearance, I might add, he says explicitly that it is classified. He didn’t declassify it," the host said.

"Dana, he has said time and time again he’s declassified all this material," Jordan said.

"This is — this is the most political thing I have ever seen. They have been out to get President — they’re going to — they’re indicting President Trump on Tuesday for having material that he declassified that was protected by the Secret Service," the representative said as he rebuffed attempts by the host to interrupt him.

"And the people who are doing it is the administration, the Justice Department from his opponent in the upcoming presidential election," the representative said.

"This is as political as it gets. And, frankly, Dana, it’s part of a pattern. We have seen it time and time again with the president over the last seven years. They try one thing. Then they try another. They have continued to go after him. And I think anyone with common sense can see that," he said.

"OK, this is a very detailed indictment. A couple of things that you just said," the host said. "Number one, the Secret Service, they are charged with protecting the president. They didn’t even know, according to the indictment, that those documents were there. So, that — that wasn’t their job."

"Number two, do you have evidence that the president, when he was president, now former president, actually declassified these documents before he took them?" she said.

"I go on the president’s word, and he said he did. And the Supreme Court said that’s what counts. So, we can have all the — all the things Jack Smith wants to say, but everyone sees this for the political operation it is. The standard is the standard. I didn’t set the standard. The Constitution and Supreme Court did. And they did it in a unanimous fashion, and it was an opinion written by Justice Blackmun," the representative said.

"So that’s the standard. That’s the fact. Jack Smith can write whatever he wants. But this is a — this is so political. In 2016 — I mean, every election, we have now seen this, Dana. 2016, it was a dossier that they used. They knew it was false. They used it to go get a warrant to spy on his campaign. 2018, it was the Mueller investigation," he said as she continued to attempt to interrupt him.

Tech companies and social media companies are now home to hundreds of former employees of the FBI, CIA, DHS and more, according to a new investigation.

Hundreds Of Former Feds Have Flocked To Jobs In Big Tech

Google, Twitter, Meta and TikTok’s executive ranks have included over 200 former employees of surveillance government agencies, creating an employment pipeline between the government and Big Tech companies, a Daily Caller investigation found.

The technology companies recruited 248 employees from the DOJ, FBI, CIA and DHS, a LinkedIn search revealed. The hiring occurred mostly between 2017-2022, with several filling top director positions after having decade-long careers in the surveillance agencies.

Google hired 130 former DOJ, DHS, CIA and FBI employees, the Daily Caller’s key term search on LinkedIn found. Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, employed 47 people for those three entities who were previously at the DOJ, FBI or DHS. TikTok, the Chinese-based app embattled with national security concerns, employed 25 former DOJ, FBI, DHS or CIA employees. Twitter had 46 executives who had previously spent time working for the three-letter agencies.

Reed Rubinstein, former deputy associate attorney general under President Trump, told the Daily Caller that Americans should be "concerned" about "terrifying" integration of Big Tech companies and federal agencies.

"The revolving door has been a feature of D.C. for as long as I can remember. Any business that is heavily regulated is going to be concerned about managing the regulators, and one way to do that is by purchasing them," Rubinstein said.

Unmarried women without children have been moving toward the Democratic Party for several years, but the 2022 midterms may have been their electoral coming-out party, as they proved the chief break on the predicted Republican wave. While married men, women and unmarried men broke for the GOP, CNN exit polls found that 68% of unmarried women voted for Democrats.

The Supreme Court’s August decision overturning Roe v. Wade was certainly a special factor in the midterms, but longer-term trends show that single, childless women are joining African Americans as the Democrats’ most reliable supporters.

Their power is growing thanks to the demographic winds. The number of never-married women has grown from about 20% in 1950 to more than 30% in 2022, while the percentage of married women has declined from almost 70% in 1950 to under 50% today. Overall, the percentage of married households without children has declined from 37% in 1976 to 21% today.

In years past, the deal between the two groups was seemingly no issue, but the government body ultimately denied the group a permit due to "substantial community spread of COVID in the county" and a "health threat level" in the building.

The military's denial saw fierce backlash, though the controversy has bolstered interest in the event, drawing between 50,000 and 100,000 potential attendees for May 30, Joseph Chenelly, the executive director of AMVETS, the group in charge of 2021's ride, told the Washington Examiner in an interview.
