Did The New York Times Publish a Hoax? |
2024-10-16 |
[HotAir] Yes. In response to our previous posting about headshots on Paleo kids. Pics at link I am not a ballistics expert and don't play one on TV. I didn't even sleep in a Holiday Inn Express, so what I write here is based entirely on the analysis of others. But I am pretty sure they are right, given the balance of the evidence and the provenance of the opinion piece published by the New York Times. At issue is a piece published by the Times in which 65 medical personnel who have worked in Gaza during the Israeli operation accuse soldiers of deliberately targeting Gazan children, shooting them in the head. There are lurid stories and X-ray images that purport to show bullets lodged in the head and neck of children. Those X-rays appear to be--according to doctors and ballistics experts--totally fake. And even I, a layman, can call bulls**t on them due to obvious problems that a 10-year-old can spot. Look at the linked photos in the above tweet, and you will immediately notice a few things: there are no entry or exit wounds, despite the claim that a military rifle supposedly shot these children with a bullet designed to penetrate armor. The bullets show no deformation and appear to have been placed under the body. I could be wrong, but lots of people in the law enforcement, military, and forensics fields have pointed these facts out. People have also done experiments using the same weapon and bullets on models, and there is no way that any of these children would have survived as claimed or that images of the wounds would appear that way on any type of medical images. It's not one or two people who are trying to debunk the claims being made in the pages of the Times; it seems to be everybody with any knowledge of ballistics or gunshot wounds piling on. The Times begs to differ but offers nothing more than an assurance that their robust fact-checking operation didn't let anything get past them. They have "layers and layers" of fact-checkers, just like Dan Rather did, so nothing gets past them! Snipers scoff at the images and the stories because they know the effects of military bullets striking heads. The bullets almost certainly would pass through the head, causing massive trauma in both the brain and the exit wound. |

Dan Rather returns to CBS for the first time 18 years after his disgraced departure |
2024-04-29 |
[NYPOST] Dan Fake but AccurateRather ![]() returned to the CBS News airwaves for the first time since his bitter exit 18 years ago, appearing in a reflective interview on "CBS Sunday Morning" days before the debut of a Netflix documentary on the 92-year-old newsman’s life. After 44 years at the network, 24 as anchor of the "CBS Evening News," Rather left under a cloud following a botched investigation into then-President George W. Bush’s military record. Rather signed off as anchor for the last time on March 9, 2005, and exited the network when his contract ended 15 months later. With continued enmity between him and since-deposed CBS chief Leslie Moonves, Rather essentially became a nonperson at the news division he dominated for decades. "Without apology or explanation, I miss CBS," Rather told correspondent Lee Cowan in the interview that aired Sunday. "I’ve missed it since the day I left." Rather escaped official blame for the report that questioned Bush’s Vietnam War-era National Guard service but, as the anchor who introduced it, was identified with it. CBS could not vouch for the authenticity of some documents upon which the report was based, although many people involved in the story still believe it was true. CBS ‘confirms' Hunter Biden laptop is real 769 days after Post broke story |
2022-11-23 |
![]() CBS News said Monday that it confirmed the authenticity of data from Hunter Biden’s former laptop — more than two years after The Post first revealed its contents — as the first son’s lawyer complained he didn’t "consent" to the release. The laptop links President Biden to his son Hunter and brother Jim Biden’s foreign influence-peddling, but high-ranking former spy agency officials claimed before the 2020 election it was likely Russian disinformation and the story was censored by Twitter and Facebook. Most news outlets ignored the laptop’s contents until recently. CBS’s report follows belated verification of the laptop in March by the Washington Post and New York Times. CBS correspondent Catherine Herridge reported that she received a copy of Hunter Biden’s hard drive from former Delaware computer repairman John Paul Mac Isaac, and that Minnesota computer scientists led by former Secret Service computer crimes expert Mark Lanterman said the files appeared legitimate. Lanterman’s firm determined that the laptop’s contents accumulated over the course of time, as would be expected, and that there was no evidence that the documents were altered by outsiders. Herridge did not specifically say which documents from the laptop were determined to be authentic. But she said that two sources confirmed to her that Joe Biden was the person identified as the "big guy" in an infamous May 2017 email that described a 10% side-aside as part of a deal with a Chinese government-linked company. "Two of Hunter Biden’s former business partners, including Tony Bobulinski, who received the email, told CBS News that the 10% ’held by H for the big guy’ was shorthand for 10% held by Hunter for his father," Herridge reported. "The author [of the email, James Gilliar] has not responded to CBS News’ questions." Mac Isaac says Hunter Biden brought the laptop to his Delaware shop and never picked it up. He says the FBI took the original laptop in December 2019 after he alerted the bureau to its contents. In October 2020, he provided files from the device to The Post. "At no time did any individual, including Mr. Mac Isaac, have Mr. Biden’s consent to access his computer data or share it with others," Hunter Biden’s attorney, Chris Clark, griped to CBS. Ummm when the crackhead whore-mongering criminal traitor son left it past consent-required date it became a moot argument you POS Clark also said, without providing any specific examples, "There have been multiple attempts to hack, infect, distort and peddle misinformation regarding Mr. Biden’s devices and data." The incoming Republican chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), said Thursday he will help lead GOP efforts to learn about Joe Biden’s connection to his family’s business endeavors. "This committee will evaluate whether this president is compromised or swayed by foreign dollars. This is an investigation of Joe Biden," Comer said. The first document reported by The Post from Hunter Biden’s laptop described then-Vice President Joe Biden’s attendance at a 2015 dinner at DC’s Cafe Milano to which his son invited an array of associates — including a representative of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, which paid Hunter Biden up to $1 million pear year while his father led the Obama administration’s Ukraine policy. Documents on the laptop show Hunter Biden also invited to that dinner a trio of Kazakhstani businessmen and Russian billionaire Yelena Baturina and her husband, ex-Moscow mayor Yury Luzhkov. Baturina allegedly paid $3.5 million in 2014 to a firm associated with Hunter Biden and remains one of just a handful of Russian billionaires not to face US sanctions in response to this year’s Russian invasion of Ukraine. Online business records also indicate Hunter still holds a 10% stake in BHR Partners, a Chinese state-backed private equity firm that manages $2.1 billion in assets and takes a prominent role in acquiring overseas assets. Hunter Biden co-founded BHR Partners in 2013 within weeks of joining then-Vice President Biden aboard Air Force Two on an official trip to Beijing, according to the Wall Street Journal. Hunter introduced his dad to incoming BHR CEO Jonathan Li in a hotel lobby and Joe Biden later wrote college recommendation letters for Li’s children, according to laptop documents. In the separate Chinese venture that included discussion of the "big guy" getting a cut, Hunter and James Biden earned $4.8 million from CEFC China Energy — an arm of Beijing’s foreign-influence "Belt and Road" initiative — in 2017 and 2018, according to the Washington Post’s review of laptop files. Sorry folks. I have this thing about CBS. I grew up with Walter Cronkite. People thought he was infallible like the pope but I remember my dad one evening warning me that it was all liberal bullcrap (not his exact words, I never heard him use the word bullcrap, but close enough). By the time Dan Rather took over I was old enough to start seeing through the bullcrap. Instinctively, I understood that Rather is a creep and a fraud, a hurricane chaser and a liar. But it wasn't just Rather and these days it isn't just Nora O'Donnell. It's the corporate culture. They are not journalists. An honest journalist could never get a job at CBS. They are something else and I can't find the words right now to convey the depth of my contempt for the entire corporation. I remember when the Steele Dossier first made the news, how then CBS Anchor Scott Pelley said with a straight face that Christopher Steele was a reliable source. We know now the dossier was a pack of lies that Steele concocted because Hillary Clinton paid him to do so. I'm quite certain that Pelley knew it then. I remember back in October of 2020 when Nora O'Donnell referred to the laptop story as "a far right conspiracy theory in a tabloid newspaper". That was all she would say about it. I'm quite certain CBS had people investigating the story and they knew the truth but they suppressed it. O'Donnell specializes in half-truth, hyperbole and hysteria. But when those are not enough she will flat out lie. Then I remember Leslie Stahl in her interview with Trump, when Trump started talking about the laptop, she claimed the story was "not confirmed". I'm sure that was a lie. I'm sure CBS had confirmed it by then. But Stahl denied it. She lied right there before Trump and the American people. CBS lies all the time about everything. Almost certainly the only reason they admit anything about the laptop now is that the new Republican majority in the House will investigate the matter. CBS will continue to ignore the New York Post. CBS executives hope people won't remember all of their previous denials of the laptop's existence. But I remember. |

Disgraced CBS anchor Dan Rather ripped for 'Let's Go Brandon' take: 'Sit down' |
2022-01-01 |
![]() Fake but AccurateRather ...the man who put the BS in CBS News. In 2004 he put on a news story that highlighted dissatisfaction with Lt. George W. Bush in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam war. This was almost casually--but gleefully--debunked by the Blogosphere at large. Rather's face was rubbed in journalistic mud, four of his staff were fired, and within a short time his 43-year (about the same length as Muammar Qadaffi's) career had settled to the bottom, from whence he periodically emits a bubble, which proves he's not dead yet... faced a dunking of his own.Late Wednesday night, Rather tweeted out his take on the popular "Let’s Go Brandon" phrase that has been used as a rebuff against President Joe Biden ![]() brilliant. Just look at the competent way he dumped Afghanistan...... "#LetsGoBrandonReallyMeans ’You can’t handle the truth," Rather wrote. The quote came as a form of irony for some Twitter users as Rather previously stepped down from his position as a CBS anchor after airing a story that contained allegedly forged documents to question President Bush’s service in the National Guard. Several people called out his take based on Rather’s own relationship with "the truth." Right-wing commentator John Cardillo tweeted, "Dan, Remember when you and your producer fabricated memos to derail Bush 43’s presidency, but you were caught, fired, and shamed off air? Remember that truth?" "Says the man who literally lost his job for reporting fabrications and lies about GW Bush. Hahah.. you cannot make this stuff up. Let’s Go Dan Rather!" radio talk show host Joe Pagliarulo wrote. |

![]() The emails, some of which have been confirmed as genuine with their recipients, show substantial evidence that Hunter Biden used his position as Vice President Joe Biden’s son to extract substantial payments from “clients” in other countries. There are also photos of Hunter with a crack pipe, and engaging in various other unsavory activities. And they demolished the elder Biden’s claim that he never discussed business with his son. That’s a big election-year news story. Some people doubted its genuineness, and of course it’s always fair to question a big election-year news story, especially one that comes out shortly before the election. (Remember CBS newsman Dan Rather’s promotion of what turned out to be forged memos about George W. Bush’s Air National Guard service?) |

First debate shambles, Chris Wallace loses bigly |
2020-09-30 |
Wallace’s performance was as Biden’s protector, his advocate, and that is undeniable. He stepped in at every moment Biden seemed lost: court-packing, lack of support of law enforcement, and Hunter’s criminality. The debate was so poorly managed. The questions were designed to aid Biden, to coddle him. No wonder Trump felt duty-bound to interrupt. Trump was debating both Wallace and Biden and only one of them is sentient. Wallace’s intent was clear — sabotage Trump. Wallace succeeded only in looking like the stooge he is. Why a two-minute rule? That hardly gives either man time to rebut what was just said about him. Wallace even brought up the Charlottesville charge but did not admit it was a manufactured lie without giving Trump the time to deny the lie. Wallace completely ignored and tried to derail Trump’s bringing up Hunter Biden’s criminal corruption. Why was that not a viable subject for discussion? Biden lied when he said Hunter had been cleared. Not so. Biden has a long history of lying and financial corruption. Should that fact not be up for review for a candidate for president? If Biden were a Republican, you can bet it would. Wallace should be fired for his wholesale lack of objectivity. He’s become a cut-rate Dan Rather. |

Dan Rather: In November We Will ‘Find Out How Many People Are Dumb Enough to Believe' Trump
2020-09-14 | ||
![]()
Rather said, "What this presidential election is about is whether the country’s going to move more in the direction of white supremacy or move more in the direction of a multiracial, constitutional republic based on the freedom and the democracy. That’s the proper frame, in which we now should put this election given what the president says, what he’s been doing — this long list of things. No sense going through the litany, but, you know, he knew in early February how serious the coronavirus was, but he repeatedly misled the American people. He said using an excuse and a lie, he didn’t want to spread panic." "Well, throughout his entire presidency and particularly during this presidential re-election campaign, he’s been trying to get people panicked," he continued. "Panicked about dangerous people moving into the suburban neighborhood, panic over immigration. He’s asking us to believe that when it came to the coronavirus, he just didn’t want to spread panic. Anybody who believes this will believe that rocks grow, and we’re going to find out how many people are dumb enough to believe that. I’d like to think that most people in the country recognize it for what it is, and that is an excuse, and it’s a lie, and it’s outrageous, and it’s very dangerous."

NBC Contributor Reveals He Never Tested Positive For COVID After Network Followed His Alleged Recovery |

Well, thank God he recovered. Brian Williams: "I was sick too!" So was Dan Rather. He showed me a copy of the note from his Mom. ![]() "Joining me now [is] virologist Joseph Fair, who recently recovered from COVID-19 himself," the network’s Chuck Todd said introducitng the doctors on a June episode of "Meet the Press." "Dr. Fair, let me start with you because I would like you to share a little bit about your recovery from COVID-19. What should Americans take away from your experience?" Todd asked. After telling viewers he was a healthy 42-year-old absent of any underlying conditions, Fair characterized the illness as "the worst I’ve ever felt." "I probably spent 23 our of 24 hours in bed," said Fair. "Those people that are young and think they’re invincible or people that just don’t think it’s going to affect them that greatly even if they do get it, I can say that my own experience was the complete opposite." Fair however, had already tested negative for the virus at least five times according to Steve Krakauer of the Fourth Watch Newsletter and said this week his illness from two months ago "remains an undiagnosed mystery" following the results of a negative antibody test. "I had myriad COVID symptoms, was hospitalized in a COVID ward & treated for COVID-related co-morbidities, despite testing negative by nasal swab," Fair told followers on Twitter. Despite having appeared on NBC and MSNBC almost a dozen times to discuss his recovery from the virus, neither network has still released a correction on air. As Krakauer points out, this story about Fair's illness still has yet to be corrected. Fair said he planned to take another antibody test. NBC News did not immediately respond to The Federalist's request for comment. |

The Media Is Even More Garbage Than Usual |
2020-03-19 |
It's Kurt [Town Hall] - It’s like the moronic mandarins of the mainstream media ‐ luminaries like Honest Dan Rather, Brian "Badass Like Buttigieg" Williams, and Zombie Cronkite ‐ got together to create a plan to make people hate the media even more than they already did. It was a daunting challenge, since people view the mainstream media as something akin to syphilis without the upside. But it’s as if they finally succeeded, accomplishing, against all odds, something besides failure, leveraging this pandemic to destroy the media forever. The Chinese Coronavirus Bat Soup Syndrome has taken what’s left of the media’s reputation, poured gasoline on it, then lit it on fire before flattening it with a bulldozer and finally having a Scat Francisco hobo download last night’s free bologna sandwich on the remains. ...I wish I was exaggerating. I wish my ability to generate hyperbole in the pursuit of critiquing our failed establishment was so great that I could construct a sublime image of allegedly serious reporters, in a time of national crisis, forgoing the chance to disseminate lifesaving 411 to the masses and instead, and on purpose, choosing to pursue the fevered SJW obsessions of daddy-issued Wellesley sociology sophomores. ...On Tuesday, the Chinese government decided to toss a bunch of American media types out of the country. Talk about a betrayal of one’s own friends. But it just goes to show that everyone hates the media ‐ and that even the damn communists think our media sucks. |
