Pak round-up: Seven dead, 38 injured as Pakistan Army targets civilian areas along LoC in J&K, shoots down IAF jets, destroys brigade HQ
2025-05-07
[TIMESOFINDIA.INDIATIMES] Seven persons, including a woman and two children, were killed and 38 others injured Wednesday as Pakistan Army pounded dozens of forward villages with artillery and mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, officials told news agency PTI. Officials said the Indian Army is responding proportionately to ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces, which began after India conducted missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Poonch district has been the worst affected, with seven fatalities and 25 others injured, according to reports. In addition, ten people were injured in the Uri sector of Baramulla district, while three others sustained injuries in Rajouri district, officials added.

In the early hours of Wednesday, India launched "Operation Sindoor", executing a series of precision strikes that successfully destroyed nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was a joint effort by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and was conducted entirely from Indian soil. Key targets included the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's (LeT) base in Muridke. The strikes served as a decisive response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which had claimed the lives of 26 civilians. Using advanced precision weaponry and real-time intelligence, the Army, Navy, and Air Force conducted the strikes in coordination, avoiding any engagement with Pakistani military installations.India employed a range of high-precision, long-range strike weapons during the operation, including the SCALP cruise missile, the HAMMER precision-guided bomb, and loitering munitions.

...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
The Pakistain armed forces also destroyed an enemy post in the Dhundial sector of the Line of Control (LoC).

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on early Wednesday that at least eight Paks were martyred and 35 were maimed in Indian missile attacks on cities in Punjab and Azad Kashmir.

DG ISPR elaborated that India launched 24 attacks on six sites in Pakistain, and all targets hit were civilian in nature, with most being mosques. The Indian munitions also caused damage to the surrounding residential structures.

The Indian strikes come amid heightened tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours in the aftermath of an attack on tourists that left 26 dead in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir's (IIOJK) Pahalgam.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has confirmed that the Pakistain Air Force has shot down at least five Indian fighter jets in response to India's recent cross-border aggression.

Speaking to Geo News, the defence minister said Pakistain had gained the upper hand in its retaliatory action, while responding to the Indian forces' strikes with strength and precision.

He stressed that the Pak armed forces acted decisively to defend the country's illusory sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"Pak armed forces are giving a befitting response to Indian aggression," the military spokesperson said shortly after Pakistain launched its own counter-strikes.

[SamaaTV] In a dramatic turn of events along the Line of Control (LoC), the Indian Army reportedly hoisted a white flag at the Chora Complex, signalling surrender after suffering significant losses at the hands of the Pakistan Army.

The move came in the aftermath of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) successfully destroying five Indian aircraft -- not just three as admitted by the Indian authorities. The action was taken in response to what Pakistan has labelled as an unprovoked and cowardly Indian attack on civilian and military targets across the border."

The view from India - Pahalgam Terror Attack, Day 2: Attari Border Closed, Indus Water Treaty With Pak Suspended, 1400 rounded up

[OneIndia liveblog] Terrorists opened fire at a famed meadow near Kashmir's Pahalgam town on Tuesday afternoon, killing 26 people, mostly tourists, in what is the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019.

The 26 dead included two foreigners and two locals, a high ranking official said without getting into details.

Baisaran, about six kilometres from the resort town of Pahalgam, is an expansive meadow ringed by dense pine forests and mountains and a favourite with visitors from across the country and the world.

Armed terrorists came into the grassland, dubbed 'mini Switzerland', and started firing at tourists milling around eateries, taking pony rides or just picnicking, officials and eyewitnesses said.

"That is exactly what went on when October 7th 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. It was directed specifically against Jews and not only against Jews, but among the most liberal Jews who were most prone to wanting peace and normalcy with the Gaza Strip. Targeting a vacation resort, middle-class Hindus, it is evident that the Pakistanis are trying the same tactic now. It should be no more successful for Pakistan than it was for Hamas. And frankly, it's now the duty of India to do to Pakistan and to Pakistan's ISI what Israel did to Hamas. It's time to wipe out the leadership of the ISI to treat them as a designated terror group and demand that every country that is an ally of India, every country that is an ally of the world's largest democracy, do the same..." says Michael Rubin, former Pentagon official and a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute

Hundreds of suspects have been detained in Jammu and Kashmir, probe underway

Apr 23, 2025, 5:51 PM IST
Security agencies released photographs of the suspected terrorists involved in the brutal attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 28 lives. The names of the terrorists are Aadil Guree, Aasif Shaikh , Suleman Shah and Abu Talha. The terrorists used code names - Moosa, Yunus and Asif.
Photo of the four miscreants at that time at the link, all in dark, Western civilian, long-sleeved shirts and slacks or cargo pants, harnesses with pockets filled with magazines (?), and their trigger fingers carefully laid along the side of whatever their guns (rifles? but three don’t seem to have shoulder stocks, so I’m confused) instead of on the trigger. The training we’ve been doing in Iraq and Afghanistan has had at least that one beneficial aspect — fewer are being killed accidentally because the bad guys know that serious military are careful about that.

Pahalgam Attack: Security Forces Detain Over 1400 Suspects, Probe Underway
[Oneindia] A day after cowardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives and left several injured, security forces initiated an extensive crackdown. According to the reports, over 250 overground workers (OGWs) linked to terror groups have been detained in South Kashmir. Additionally, around 1,200 suspects of terrorism-related activities have been apprehended throughout Kashmir.

Indus Water Treaty Suspended: Major Pakistani Cities to Face Water and Power Blackouts
[OneIndia] The suspension of this long-standing treaty marks a significant escalation, as it will halt the flow of water from the Indus river system-which includes the Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej rivers-into Pakistan. These rivers are vital to Pakistan's water supply, supporting tens of millions of people.

India Scales Down Diplomatic Ties With Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack: Echoes of 26/11
[Oneindia] In the aftermath of the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir-where over two dozen tourists were killed and several injured-India has launched a sharp diplomatic offensive. New Delhi has announced a significant reduction in diplomatic mission strength, bringing down the number of officials in both Indian and Pakistani High Commissions from 55 to 30. This move signals a severe downgrade in bilateral ties without a complete diplomatic rupture.

Scaling down diplomatic staff, particularly Defence, Naval, and Air Advisors, is a serious diplomatic signal. By declaring them 'persona non grata', India is essentially accusing these officials of actions incompatible with diplomatic norms-commonly implying espionage, subversion, or indirect support to terrorism. This is not just administrative downsizing but a strategic message: that normal diplomacy cannot continue alongside terror.

The move to cut staff strength reflects India's stance of "Terror and Talks Cannot Go Hand-in-Hand." It leaves a bare minimum of diplomatic personnel, primarily for consular and essential services, while cutting off backchannel or informal communication avenues that often operate through military attachés.

Saifullah Khalid, LeT Terrorist And TRF Commander, Identified As Mastermind Of Pahalgam Terror Attack
April 23, 2025, 16:48 [IST]
[OneIndia] The Jammu and Kashmir Police are receiving support from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy for the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for this attack. This incident has raised significant concerns about cross-border terrorism.

Army sources have identified Saifullah Khalid, a top commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba, as the mastermind behind the Pahalgam attack. Known also as Saifullah Kasuri, he is believed to have been planning this assault for two months. During this period, he reportedly visited Pakistani Army camps twice to coordinate the attack.

Saifullah is closely associated with Hafiz Saeed, the chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba, and serves as his deputy. He is credited with founding both TRF and People's Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), which are considered proxies for Lashkar. His ties with Hafiz Saeed and alleged coordination with Pakistani military elements highlight concerns about state-backed terrorism against India.

Infiltration activities typically decrease during the winter season due to harsh weather conditions, with a resurgence expected as the snow begins to melt and passes open up.
The infiltrators were challenged by the Indian Army, leading to a fierce shootout in which two bad boyz were potted.

Their identities have not yet been ascertained, and the operation is still underway in the area to ensure the elimination of any remaining threat.

This incident marks the first infiltration attempt from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir this year.

Infiltration activities typically decrease during the winter season due to harsh weather conditions, with a resurgence expected as the snow begins to melt and passes open up.

General Officer Commanding (GoC) of 15 Corps, Rajiv Ghai, recently visited the LoC to assess the operational preparedness of the Army. During his visit, he interacted with artillery units and emphasised the importance of maintaining a high state of operational readiness and morale to tackle future challenges effectively.

elections.

The Army said that intermittent fire was also exchanged from Pak forward posts in the vicinity of the Line of Control (LoC) during the counter-infiltration operation.

The successful foiling of the infiltration bid was the result of a joint operation led by the Army, which had received numerous intelligence inputs indicating plans of terrorist groups to infiltrate across the LoC in the Uri sector.

Based on these inputs, the counter-infiltration grid was reviewed and strengthened.

According to the Army’s statement, their ambushes detected a group of hard boyz moving towards the LoC in the early hours of Friday.

The security forces tracked their movement and established contact, leading to a heavy exchange of fire.

The operation resulted in the killing of two hard boyz and the recovery of two AK rifles, three magazines, four hand grenades, and ammunition, among other war-like stores.

The Army emphasised that this infiltration bid by hard boyz highlights Pakistain’s desperation to disrupt peace in Kashmir, especially at a time when Lok Sabha elections are scheduled and the democratic process is underway.

The operation’s success was attributed to the synergy between various security and intelligence agencies committed to ensuring peace and tranquillity in Kashmir.
Oooooohhhh, synergy. Such a s3xy word, and all the rage in managerial circles these days…or at least some years back when I paid attention to such things.
The Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency, where the incident took place, is slated to go to polls on May 20 in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

It is considered one of the most sensitive constituencies due to its proximity to Pakistain-Indian Kashmire (PoK), encompassing three districts of Kupwara, Bandipora, and Baramulla, all sharing a border with PoK.

The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in the region and the continued efforts of anti-India elements to disrupt peace in Kashmir.

NIA raids 8 places in Jammu and Kashmir in terror funding case

] The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted raids at eight locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a terror funding case.

The raids are still underway in close coordination with Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) at seven locations in Kashmir and one in Jammu, said sources privy to the development.

The agency sleuths are carrying out these raids at Shopian and Baramulla, among other areas. The places searched included the residents and other hideouts of the suspects linked to the case.

The raids were conducted days after the central agency arrested an accused in the Pakistain-backed terrorism case involving the delivery of weapons through drones to snuffies active in Kashmir.

The agency had shared the input on November 29 after a team from the NIA Jammu Branch nabbed 22-year-old namely Zakir Hussain of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on November 27.

He was the eight accused to be arrested in the case registered by the NIA on July 30 last year after taking over the case from Kathua Police.

One of the seven accused arrested earlier had died due to cardiac arrest while in judicial custody while two Pakistain-based terror operatives are absconding.

NIA is continuing with its investigations in the matter to unravel the bigger conspiracy of Pakistain-backed terrorist groups to carry out acts of terror and violence in the Kashmir valley and across India. (ANI)

(LeT), under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that the land, registered in the name of Mukhtar Bhat, the father of the accused Irfan Ahmad Bhat, was identified as "proceeds of terrorism" in a case filed against him in 2022, the Police said in a notice sent to the accused.

They said that the case pertains to the recovery of explosives and other incriminating material from his possession under case FIR No 43/2022 under sections 23 UA(P) Act, 04 and Explosive Substance Act of Police Station Bandipora.

The Police said that the land had been put under restrictions and could not be transferred, leased out, disposed of, or changed in any way without the prior permission of the designated authority.

The statement said that any violation of this order would attract penal provisions of law, they warned.

The Police also said that Irfan’s brother had exfiltrated to Pakistain in 2000 and was suspected to be involved in terrorist activities.

The Police also tweeted about the action on Wednesday, saying: "Bandipora Police has attached 14 Marla of residential land at Ashtengoo Bandipora in case FIR No 43/2022. e] The Indian Army on Thursday said despite winter setting in, there was no reduction in infiltration attempts made by the forces of Evil across the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district.

Col Raghav Commanding Officer 8RR was briefing media persons about operation Kali wherein a major infiltration bid was foiled along LoC on November 15.

The Army officer said that Operation Kaali, a joint effort between the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police, successfully thwarted an infiltration bid in the Uri sector along the Line of Control (LoC) on November 15.

"This operation led to significant casualties among forces of Evil and the recovery of various warlike supplies," the Army Officer said.

He said that Operation Kaali was initiated based on intelligence from our sources and the Srinagar bureau. Upon receiving intelligence, the Indian Army strengthened its counter-infiltration and surveillance grids in the area.

"Joint operation parties were deployed, and in the early hours of November 15, our surveillance tracked the movement of forces of Evil across the LoC," he said

The Army Officer said that upon infiltrating, the forces of Evil were engaged, leading to a exchange of gunfire.

"Following the exchange, a detailed search of the area revealed numerous terrorist casualties, though the exact number remains unconfirmed due to the proximity to the LoC," he said.

The officer said two bodies were recovered, along with warlike stores, including AK series rifles, two pistols, few Chinese grenades, ammunition, medical supplies, eatables, Pak currency, and identification papers.

"A significant outcome of the operation was the elimination of Bashir Ahmad Malik and his lover companion Ahmad Gani Sheikh," he said.

He said Malik, a prominent figure in cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, served as a launch commander aiding infiltrations for the past three decades.

"He played a key role in facilitating infiltrations across the LoC, resulting in the loss of numerous Indian lives, including those of the armed forces. Malik’s demise deals a severe blow to the terror infrastructure operating across the LoC," he said.

He said the recent incident shows the desperation of forces of Evil to infiltrate to this side despite winter season setting in.

"But Indian Army is well prepared to foil all their attempts," he said.

Three Moslem Minors Apprehended in Stone Pelting Incident, Eight Women Injured
2023-11-21
[OneIndia] Three minors were apprehended in connection with a stone pelting incident in which eight women suffered injuries when they were on their way for a prayer ceremony in Nuh,
...a town in Haryana state, south of India’s Punjab state...
police said on Saturday.

One of them, a nine-year-old, was released on bail after he was produced before the child welfare committee while two others, both aged 12 years, were sent to a correction home after being produced before the juvenile justice board, they said.

At least eight women suffered injuries after some unidentified persons hurled stones at them allegedly from a mosque and madrasa in Nuh on Thursday night.

A senior police officer Saturday said the case is being investigated thoroughly but no role of any other has come to the fore yet.

Police on Friday registered an FIR against unidentified persons in connection with this incident.

Three minors were questioned by the police in the presence of their parents and later apprehended.

On the other hand, the Madrasa authorities claimed that children were playing with slippers and pebbles on the roof when a few accidentally hit the procession.

In a presser on Friday, Pawan Kumar, state president of VHP said that they want strict action against the miscreants. The incident of stone pelting in Nuh has raised concerns about the safety of women and religious freedom in the area. The police have assured that the case is being investigated thoroughly and action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
