Distribution of Uniforms for Security Forces Begins in Herat
2023-01-30
[ToloNews] Local officials in Herat
...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns...
said that the process of distributing uniforms for the security forces of the Islamic Emirate has been started in this province.

According to officials, three thousand security force members have received uniforms so far.

"Currently we just distribute to police who are in checkpoints and this process is ongoing," said Hamid Ullah Mutawakil, front man for the governor of Herat.

"A security person can be identified by this uniform," said Abdul Rahman, a police officer.

"We are so happy for these uniforms, no one can misuse these uniforms," said Amanullah, a policeman.

Herat residents welcome the wearing of special uniforms by the forces of the Islamic Emirate.

"A policeman and a common man must have a difference, and we called on the Islamic Emirate to order other coppers to wear uniforms," said Sultan Ahmad Noril, a Herat resident.

"If he has a uniform, we understand that he is the national army or the national police, it’s very good work," said Ahsanullah Rezaye, a Herat resident.

The presence of Islamic Emirate forces without uniforms in the cities has always been accompanied by criticism.

[DAWN] Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) police on Sunday claimed to have foiled a terror bid targeting a girls' school in Ghizer district and placed in durance vile
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
13 suspected terrorists.

According to Deputy Inspector General Gohar Nafees, all the arrested suspects are students of a local seminary run by a local named Inayatullah.

He said that police had also recovered kaboom and petrol during their raid on the seminary late on Saturday night, adding that the plot to target the school and college was hatched at the seminary.

He claimed that the suspects were planning to blow up the school ─ which is part of the Agha Khan Schools network ─ using bombs on Saturday night. Ahsanullah who was heading the 'terrorist group' has been arrested, the DIG said.

Missing AUST teacher arrested during anti-militancy raid
2017-05-09
[Dhaka Tribune] The teacher of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) who had been missing since last week and three others have been locked away
Please don't kill me!
by police’s Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit during an anti-militancy drive.

Assistant Professor ABM Sohel-ud-Dowlah and three young men were arrested on Sunday evening, police said yesterday.

The others, Ahadul Islam Sagar, Rabiul Haq Mithu and Mohammad Towasin Rahman are students of different colleges and universities in the city.

CTTC chief Monirul Islam said in a press briefing on Sunday afternoon at the Dhaka Metroplitan Police media centre: "Our team arrested four Lions of Islam from Dhaka’s Motijheel area around 6:30pm Sunday. We came to know that they are members of the banned bad boy outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team alias Ansar al-Islam."

Two laptops, two notebooks, two mobile phones, a passport, a translated copy of a book written by the late Osama bin Laden
... who was laid out deader than a mackerel, right next to the mackerel...
and other jihadi books were seized from their possession.

"In a primary interrogation, they admitted that some members of their group had escaped," he said. "Those members are in touch with the sacked army major Syed Mohammad Zia ul Haque. The arrestees have provided their names."

Police did not disclose the names of the escaped suspects.

"They planned to go to Afghanistan for jihadi training, but changed plans due to very tough entry there. Later they chalked out another plan to join al-Nusra
...formally Jabhat an-Nusrah li-Ahli al-Sham (Support Front for the People of the Levant), also known as al-Qaeda in the Levant. They aim to establish a pan-Arab caliphate. Not the same one as the Islamic State, though .. ...
Front, the Syrian version of Al Qaeda," Monirul said.
Ah. Jihad tourists, happy to go wherever the fighting is currently going well with no concern for the slight theological differences between the groups --Taliban, Al Qaeda, ISIS, Al Shabaab -- it's all about shooting off scary black guns and getting slavegirl wives with, as they are reassured, the approval of their god.
For this reason they were trying to apply for visa to other countries. The three young men were trying to go to Syria. Sohel, the university teacher, was their organiser.

The CTTC chief also said that Shohel had links with the leaders of the ABT abroad. They were members of the Dawn section. Different time of the country, they were associated with the planning of killing of bloggers.

In 2014, they were involved in bad boy activities with the runaway bad boy Hasan alias Razor. They used to communicate with each other through the Telegram messaging app and Tutanota e-mail, he added.
Of course they did.
On Thursday night, Sohel’s brother Shafiq-ud-Dowla lodged a general diary with Tejgaon cop shoppe, saying Sohel had been missing since the afternoon that day.

When contacted, Tejgaon police OC Mazharul Islam said: "Sohel’s family told us that he is not connected with any political or religious parties or groups."

Police later discovered that the last known location of the missing teacher was near Dhaka’s Kakrail mosque.

When asked why Sohel had gone missing on Thursday, Monirul said they had no idea about the matter.

Tehrik-e-Taliban: Pakistan using prisoner for propaganda
2017-04-28
[Dhaka Tribune] The Taliban
...Arabic for students...
in Pakistain has accused the country’s premier intelligence service of using a notorious captured Death Eater leader to give the impression the group is being funded by foreign spy agencies to orchestrate attacks, a Death Eater front man said.

Meanwhile,

two Pak intelligence officials said Thursday an overnight US dronezap killed seven gunnies in a tribal region near the Afghan border, the first such strike since 2014.

Mohammad Khurasani, front man for Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain, commented late Wednesday after the Mighty Pak Army released a video of Death Eater Ahsanullah Ahsan. In the video, the ex-front man of the group said he surrendered to authorities after seeing his leaders receiving help from Indian and Afghan intelligence services to orchestrate attacks in Pakistain.

Nafees Zakaria, front man for Pakistain’s foreign ministry, said Thursday that Ahsan had laid down arms and revealed the role of foreign spy agencies in attacks in Pakistain.

However,

Khurasani said Pakistain’s Inter-Services Intelligence

for her advocacy for women’s education.

Ahsan quit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain in 2014 and joined the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group. He was a senior figure in that group before his surrender to authorities. Jamaat-ul-Ahrar is behind dozens of attacks on civilians and Pakistain security agencies.

Mighty Pak Army officials have said that the head of the Pak Taliban, Mullah Fazalullah, has ordered scores of attacks, including the assault on Malala, and that he is hiding in Afghanistan.

Suicide Bomber Kills At Least 26, Wounds 45 In Pakistan
2015-12-30
[HUFFINGTONPOST] A jacket wallah went kaboom! outside a government office in a northwestern Pak city on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people and wounding 45 in an attack claimed by a breakaway Taliban group.

The bombing took place in the city of Mardan, outside the regional office of the National Database and Registration Authority, or NADRA, which issues identity cards, according to senior police officer Saeed Khan Wazir.

Wazir told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that some of the maimed were at death's door at a hospital in the nearby city of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
.

"A gunman opened fire and killed a guard upon being asked to stop for checking. Then he went kaboom! his suicide jacket," he said. Wazir said if the attacker had managed to enter the government office, he might have killed many more people.

Mohammad Qasim told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named from his hospital bed that he went to the office to receive his national identity card, which is issued at age 18.

"I was in a very happy mood today. I told my family and friends that I would receive my national identity card, but I didn't know that I would become the target of a bombing," said Qasim, who had bandages on both legs.

Shortly after the attack, a front man for the holy warrior Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group grabbed credit for the bombing, calling it a "noble act to punish NADRA because it extends support to security forces." The front man, Ahsanullah Ahsan, spoke to the AP by phone from some holy man's guesthouse an undisclosed location.

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar split from the Pak Taliban two years ago.

Police book head of raided seminary
2015-08-23
[DAWN] Following a dramatic midnight raid on the Madressah Haqqania that led to at least four arrests on Thursday night, the capital police on Saturday booked the seminary's administrator under the Anti-Terrorism Act and the Maintenance of Public Order, but no arrests were made, officials told Dawn.

Following the raid, Qari Ahsanullah -- who is also the khateeb of the adjoining Masjid Qasmia -- had delivered a Friday sermon that severely criticised the police action against the seminary. Police had taken at least four men into custody from the seminary. The suspects are said to be linked to the Attock bombing that claimed the life of Punjab

home minister Col Shuja Khanzada.

After receiving information about the alleged use of hate speech by the holy man, the Special Branch were asked by the Central Police Office to investigate the issue.

They were also tasked with preparing a report on the khateeb's more incendiary speeches and recommending legal action against him, sources said. "The Special Branch probe found that the khateeb targeted security forces and the government in the speech and declared them agents of foreign intelligence agencies," an official told Dawn.

home minister in his hometown of Attock. However,
there's more than one way to skin a cat...
the capital's police was unaware of the action until the last minute, sources in the department told Dawn.

The Madaressah Haqqania is located on the green belt along Eighth Avenue -- a stone's throw from Faisal Mosque and Naval Headquarters -- and was raided by a joint team from the police's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) as well as units from Rawalpindi police and paramilitary personnel.

Those taken into custody included Imadullah, the son of seminary administrator Qari Ahsanullah, as well as a teacher, Arshad, and two visitors to the seminary, one of whom was identified as Shoukat.

Officials said that the raid was carried out on the basis of solid information regarding the presence of a suspect linked with the attack in Attock.

At least 20 vehicles, including vans from the Banni and Sadiqabad cop shoppes in Rawalpindi and Punjab Elite Force units also participated in the raid.

Suicide bombers kill 14 people outside Pakistani churches
2015-03-15
[FOXNEWS] Pak Taliban jacket wallahs went kaboom! themselves near two churches in the eastern city of Lahore on Sunday as worshippers were gathered inside, killing 14 people, officials said, in the latest attack against religious minorities in the increasingly fractured country.
"...and I hate the men of Shia," said Mahbub Ali.
In the tense aftermath, angry mobs lashed out at people they suspected of involvement in the attacks -- including one person who was burned to death -- and Christian crowds set fire to cars in a show of defiance in the country's second largest city and the prime minister's seat of power.
There doesn't seem to be much that doesn't raise angry mobs in Pakistain, but if there's anything that's a valid excuse it's kabooming a church. It's nice to see the Christians standing up for themselves against the bully boyz. Of course it'll be them that are rounded up, tossed into jug, and hung.
Life in Pakistain is increasingly fraught with danger for religious minorities, especially Christians.
All the Jews have been used up.
They have been targeted by turban Sunni Moslem turbans who object to their faith.
...or any faith that's not their faith and their interpretation of it.
They are also discriminated against in the wider society where they can often only get menial jobs like garbage collection, and are frequently targets of blasphemy accusations.
They're trying to describe an area (it's not a country, despite having a government) that worships a book as an idol.
The kabooms occurred in quick succession in the Christian neighborhood of Youhana Abad at two churches while parishioners were celebrating Sunday morning services inside. The churches are about 600 meters (650 yards) apart.
The "Taliban" that claimed the glory for this act would be to consolidated Taliban that consists of the original and its branches, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Lashkar-e-Islam, Jamaatul-Arar, and probably the Purple Gang and the Tatagias. We only occasionally see the term "al-Qaeda in Pakistain." The target is so "Lashkar-e-Jhangvi," as Jen Psaki would say should the words ever cross her lips, that they might as well have left calling cards and glossy 8x10 photos.
At least 70 people were maimed, said Zahid Pervez, the provincial director general of health, who gave the corpse count.
Why just boom a church? You can wait until Sunday, when it's a crowded church.
One unidentified witness told Pakistain's Geo television that the main gate to one of the churches targeted was closed so people were using a smaller gate.
Which was conveniently left unlocked.
"One bomber went kaboom! himself near that gate, that created chaos and during the course there was another blast," he said.
Had the church doors locked for safety, did they? And I'll bet that there were government guards on duty because as the Pak government so piously stated last time, security for Christians has been "heightened" and by now may be "fool-proof."
In the aftermath of the blasts the mood quickly turned violent.
Grandma murdered by an exploding guy in a turban? That'd cheese anybody off. The Pope would be pissed.
Much of the country is on edge after years of krazed killer violence including an attack on a Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
school in December that killed 150 people -- mostly students.
Kiddies are near on as easy to kill as grandmas.
Local television footage showed an angry crowd beating a person they thought was connected to the attack, while others attacked buses in the city. The crowds burned to death one person they believed was involved in the attack and tried to lynch another, said Haider Ashraf, deputy inspector general for Lahore.
[Yawn!]
Two police who were protecting the churches were also killed in the kabooms, which he confirmed were caused by suicide bombers.
Two of them? How fool-proof can you get?
A front man for the Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

province government condemned the attacks but also said it was unfortunate that the mob had attacked suspects.
If there's no government justice you get vigilante justice.
He said piously that authorities are reinforcing security at the 481 remaining churches across the city.
[Uncontrollable laughter]
Militants appear to be targeting minorities more intensively recently, including attacks on a string of mosques belonging to members of the Shiite Moslem minority sect. In 2013, twin blasts at a church in Peshawar killed 85 people.
They're all hanging separately. Neither the Shiites nor the Ahmadis nor the Barelvis came out to string guys with turbans up from lamp posts.
"There will be more of such attacks," warned Ahsanullah Ahsan, a front man for the Taliban faction that grabbed credit for the assault, in a statement emailed to news hounds.
We coulda written this entire article from memory, with the exception of the Christians lynching a few of their tormentors.

3 Jamaat-Shibir dens busted in Sitakunda
2015-03-09
[Dhaka Tribune] In an overnight drive, the police yesterday busted three Jamaat-Shibir dens in the hilly forest areas of Sitakunda's Nunachhara and Yakubnagar areas.

Police also enjugged
Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un!
three Jamaat-Shibir men from the spots but refused to give their names "for the sake of investigation." Preparations were on to file two cases against them.

Based on a tip-off, around 200 police members conducted the drive from midnight until early yesterday.

The dens had been used by the Jamaat-Shibir men since 2013. They carried out attacks on vehicles on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway and hid themselves in the dens to avoid arrest, Sitakunda Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Saiful Islam told the Dhaka Tribune.

"From the hideouts, the law enforcers seized 70 petrol bombs, 50 crude bombs, four lighter guns, three rocket flares, 24 cartridges, sharp weapons and kitchen items," he said.

At least 50 Jamaat-Shibir men used to stay and hold meetings in these places, the ASP said, but they expeditiously departed at a goodly pace sensing the police raid.

District Additional Superintendent of Police (north) Mostafizur Rahman said drives to arrest the runaway activists would continue.

Police and local sources said many teachers and students of nearby International Islamic University of Chittagong were involved with Jamaat-Shibir politics. A number of students of the university were arrested for sabotages on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in 2013.

Meanwhile,

Taliban committee terms attacks a conspiracy to derail talks
2014-03-16
[Pak Daily Times] The Taliban negotiators said on Friday the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) leadership was ready to hold direct talks with the government and condemned Friday's terrorist attacks in Quetta and Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
, calling them a conspiracy to derail the grinding of the peace processor, media reports said.

earlier Friday. An increasingly active Taliban splinter group Ahrarul Hind or "Liberators of India" -- a name referring to the whole of the subcontinent -- grabbed credit for the attacks. "We claim both Peshawar and Quetta attacks," their chief, Umar Qasmi, told Rooters. "We don't abide by these talks and will continue to stage attacks."

The leadership of the Pak Taliban immediately distanced itself from the Friday attacks. "The TTP strongly condemns the Peshawar and Quetta blasts," said TTP front man Shahidullah Shahid. "We have no connection to these attacks because we are observing a ceasefire." Following a meeting of two members of the Taliban's negotiating committee with Taliban Shura, Maulana Samiul Haq
...the Godfather of the Taliban, leader of his own faction of the JUI. Known as Mullah Sandwich for his habit of having two young boys at a time...
, head of the committee nominated by the TTP, expressed hope for full restoration of peace in the country.

The meeting took place in Miranshah
... headquarters of al-Qaeda in Pakistain and likely location of Ayman al-Zawahiri. The Haqqani network has established a ministate in centered on the town with courts, tax offices and lots of madrassas...
, the main town of troubled North Wazoo tribal agency bordering Afghanistan. It was attended by Sheikh Khalid Haqqani, Qari Shakeel, Azam Tariq, Shahidullah Shahid, Sajid Mohmand and Ahsanullah Ahsan. Maulana Yousuf Shah and Professor Ibrahim represented Taliban committee. It was decided to hold the direct talks in Azad Mandi area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Bannu district. However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
the Taliban leadership apprised their nominated negotiators of their reservations.

Responding to Maulana Samiul Haq's request of further extending the month-long ceasefire, Taliban leaders told the negotiators that a final decision in this regard would be made after a formal meeting of the Shura in coming days. Speaking to media representatives in Akora Khattak, Haq said both members of the Taliban talks committee came back satisfied after the meeting. "The meeting (direct talks) is expected in a couple of days with the newly formed government committee," he said.

"We will facilitate the direct talks ... and results will be presented before parliament also." The chief of his own faction of Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam
...the political wing of the Pak Taliban...
(JUI-S), who is also known as "Father of Taliban" in the West, said their first priority will be to get freed imprisoned children and women as demanded by the Taliban leadership. He showed optimism regarding positive outcome of the direct talks saying members of the new government committee are experienced with regards to the tribal areas.

"Today's incidents in Quetta and Peshawar are part of a conspiracy being hatched to derail the grinding of the peace processor," said the JUI-S chief. He said surgical operations conducted by the country's armed forces had failed to obtain desired results in the past and only ended up in spreading havoc in the tribal areas. The TTP's position has spurred speculation that the central command is not fully in control of the many splinter groups operating under it, and reaching a peace deal with one of them would not stop the violence.

Ahrarul Hind, which splintered from the Pak Taliban just a month ago, had previously grabbed credit for an attack in central Islamabad earlier this month when jacket wallahs and gunnies killed 11 people including an additional district and sessions judge. Pak Sherlocks believe that Qasmi, the leader of the group, is capable of drawing support from other hard boy outfits, including several linked to al Qaeda that have wreaked bloody havoc in the country over the last decade.
