Political Movement Unveils Thousands Of Fake ID Cards
2018-09-02
If even a brand new democracy like Afghanistan cares about fake votes, how much more should an old democracy like America be concerned.
[ToloNews] A political movement which is called the Grand National Coalition of Afghanistan by its members displayed thousands of fake national identity cards and voter stickers at an event on Saturday.

Members of coalition said such an attempt will provide the ground for a widespread fraud in the upcoming elections.

Photos of government officials, influential figures and MPs were used in the fake identity cards. The photo of Jabbar Qahraman, an MP and analyst, was used for five ID cards with stickers on them.

"The identity cards include photos of dead people, photos of government officials while all have stickers on them," said Humayun Humayun, member of the coalition’s leadership.

Members of the coalition said some employees of the Independent Election Commission have helped them in collecting the fake identity cards.

"We will use all our resources to have a transparent election otherwise there will be a need for an alternative administration to pave the ground for election reforms," said Ahmad Zia Massoud, member of the coalition’s leadership and former special envoy for President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
TOLOnews could not get Afghanistan's Central Civil Registration Authority’s comment on the report despite repeated attempts.

The commission said it is security agencies’ task to arrest those who commit fraud by printing fake identity cards.

"This is not our task. This is security and intelligence agencies’ task to find out who has done fraud," said Hafizullah Hashemi, a front man for Independent Election Commission.

"We will not let a fraudulent election to be held because the future of our country will be damaged by it," said Humayun.

According to the election commission, more than nine million people have registered to vote in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections in the country.

Top Afghan political leaders form a new major political coalition
2018-05-05
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Several top political figures have formed a new major political coalition as the presidential elections are due for next year amid growing political and security instability.

The Chief of Staff of the First Vice President Enayatullah Babur Farahman informed regarding the formation of the new political figure by posting online a short statement and group photo of the coalition members.

Farahmand has said the new political coalition consists of key political figures from across the country.

No further details have been given regarding the new coalition however the coalition leadership apparently consists of First Vice President Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
, Jamaat Islami Chief Executive Ata Mohammad Noor, Ahmad Zia Massoud and a number of the parliament members.

Dostum is currently residing in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey

violations, including a sexual assault and kidnapping of ex-Jawzjan governor Ahmad Ischi by his guards, a charge which he and his office have repeatedly rejected.

Dostum left the country for Turkey few months earlier amid ongoing controversies regarding his alleged involvement in the sexual abuse of Ishchi.

A front man for Junbish-e-Millie party Kanishka Turkistani earlier this year had said that the health condition of Gen. Dostum has improved, his medical treatment has concluded along with some other works in Turkey, and he will return to the country soon as there are no barriers available at the moment for his return.

has handed over the control of 50 percent of Afghanistan’s territory to Taliban
...the Pashtun equiovalent of men...
, the former presidential envoy Ahmad Zia Massoud claims.

Massoud was dismissed by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani eleven days ago as the presidential palace said the step was taken as the post of the presidential envoy for reforms and good governance had proved as inefficient.

Speaking during a gathering in Kabul, Massoud said the country is facing the worst political and economical situation, apparently criticizing the government’s leadership for failure to main stability in the country.

Massoud claimed that the administration of President Ghani follows a dictatorship rule similar as Hafizullah Amin and emphasized that differences among different ethnic groups are on the rise.

In regards to his dismissal, Massoud said the decision was taken as he had not accepted slavery but did not elaborate further regarding his claims.

He also claimed that the government is attempting to weaken the security forces, pointing towards the recent attacks across the country and said the government is unable to ensure security for the people.

The former presidential envoy also added that the current government is not legitimate and insisted that he and his followers have taken back their votes which they casted to President Ghani during the 2014 controversial elections.

Massoud calls for national resistance against Pakistan’s interference
2016-05-01
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] A top aide to President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
has called for the establishment of a national resistance against the interference of Pakistain in the country, insisting that the Taliban group and other terror groups fighting in the country are slaves who are fighting for the interests of the outsiders.

Ahmad Zia Massoud, the presidential envoy for better governance, said the current year will most probably be the end of the fighting for the Taliban group in the country.

He was speaking during a gathering in capital Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
to mark the 24th victory of Mujahideen against the Soviet-backed regime in the country.

Massoud further added that Pakistain managed to create divisions in the country following the victory of Mujahideen and tried to establish a ’stooge’ government in Afghanistan.

However,
the way to a man's heart remains through his stomach...
he warned that the monopoly of power in Afghanistan has never gained ground and the greatest powers have been defeated through national resistance.

Massoud also warned that those thinking to monopolize power will face the same fate as the Soviet forces faced and called on Mujahideen leaders to get organized, calling the Mujahideen a major movement in the country.

In other parts of his speech, Massoud said the Taliban group does not believe in grinding of the peace processor, noting his earlier remarks regarding the reconciliation efforts.

He hailed the government’s change of strategy towards the bully boy groups and called on the government to hang the Taliban prisoners so that their execution become a lesson for the other criminals.

The remarks by Massoud comes as the Afghan officials have long been criticizing Pakistain for remaining reckless to take actions against the anti-government armed bully boy groups based in the country.

President Ghani asked Pakistain last week to take actions against the leadership of Taliban group in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar

Massoud voice concerns on militants infiltration in government institutions
2016-03-11

He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. voiced concerns regarding the growing infiltration by anti-government armed Death Eaters into the government institutions, including the security sectors.

In his remarks during the commemoration of the 5th death anniversary of Mawlana Syed Kheli, the former police chief of Kunduz province, Ahmad Zia Massoud said the anti-government armed murderous Moslem groups have infiltrated in almost all civilian and military institutions of the country in the past 14 years.

He said the Talibs have been freely moving in the past 14 years and establish networks in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. city and launch widespread political movements in the major cities of the country.

Massoud further added that various groups affiliated with the Taliban group are actively operating in the capital and invite people to the group as well as sending youths to Pakistain for training.

He said the Mujahideen figures are outspread and in a state of confusion as the terrorist groups are moving forward with proper plans and strategies.

Massoud also added that numerous Mujahideen leaders were assassinated during the past 14 years and called on the former jihadi leaders to become united and launch anti-terrorism campaign in a coherent way by uniting the people in a proper political movement.

He called on the High Peace Council and International Community to include and consult with the jiahdi leaders in the grinding of the peace processor with the murderous Moslem groups, insisting the jihadi figures have been an important side of the affairs.

Massoud Claims ANA Appointments Are Based On Nepotism
2015-10-20
[Tolo News] President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
's special representative for reform and good governance, Ahmad Zia Massoud on Monday claimed that nepotism has, for a while, been the basis for appointments within the Ministry of Defense (MoD).

Calling the move unprincipled, Massoud maintained that many military officers were appointed based on personal relations and that in many instances they are unable to deal with counter-insurgency actions.

He also said a number of newly-appointed officers currently lack military training experience.

"We raised the issue with the National Security Council and made it clear that a number of commanders were appointed based on nepotism which undermines war management," Massoud said while meeting ANA commanders who recently fought in Kunduz.

Massoud's remarks came a day after Ghani ordered the appointment of a number of key military officials to fill posts which were being run by caretakers.

Ghani has however said on different occasions that he would distance security institutions from politics.

Political interference in appointments and promotions aren't acceptable, Ghani said while visiting war-hit city of Kunduz last week.

In a recent move, the defense ministry recommended a number of proposals to Ghani in an effort to bring about necessary reforms within the ministry.

But on Sunday night, Ghani promoted 61 ANA officers -- some to heads of departments and some as generals - in a bid to increase capacity building, maintain security and protect national illusory sovereignty.

The Ministry of Defense welcomed the appointments and said it was important to fill some key vacancies in efforts to curb militancy and to strengthen security.

"Sixty to 70 generals retired last year and their posts remained vacant. A decision was taken to fill some vacancies," said a front man for the ministry of defense Gen. Habiburrahman Afzal.

Mujahideen Should Help Fight Taliban: Massoud
2015-10-16
[Tolo News] President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
's special representative for reforms and good governance, Ahmad Zia Massoud, declared Thursday that the government would like to include Mujahideen in formal security structures so they can help lead the war against the Taliban.

This is the second senior government official that has come out in support of mobilization of Mujahideen over the past few days. Recently, the foreign affairs minister Salahuddin Rabbani, during his visit to northern provinces, called on Mujahideen to mobilize themselves and pick up arms against the Taliban.

While meeting with a number of former Jihadi commanders in Kapisa province, north of Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
, Massoud said the government had reached a decision that based on the war experience of Mujahideen, they should be given the responsibility to fight the Death Eaters.

"We have reached this conclusion that we must regulate our respected Mujahideen and young people within the framework of security institutions because these Mujahideen, especially their commanders have given their test during the war and resistance era so that they should be able to take over the leadership of war," Massoud said, who received a warm welcome from the people of Kapisa and the ex-jihadists.

In addition, he accused Pakistain of harboring terrorist groups and committing crimes in Afghanistan.

During his speech at the gathering, he accused Pakistain more than 10 times of fueling militancy in the country.

"Pakistain has always tried to eliminate the political stability of Afghanistan through Taliban, al-Qaeda and Daesh [Islamic State] to launch cowardly attacks on different parts of our country," said Massoud, the brother of late National Hero Ahmad Shah Massoud.

According to him, relying on Pakistain's repeated and unpracticed commitments for peace talks is just a waste of time.

He urged that the government will not be successful in talking peace with the Taliban.

Moreover, some politicians present at the gathering emphasized that the mobilization of people and Jihadi commanders was not aimed at building militia groups.

"Our people are ready to defend their country and we reject the propaganda that suggest it is building militia," said Mirdad Nijrabi, a member of the internal commission of Wolesi Jirga. "This means to stand alongside the security forces."

Council of Jihadi Party Launched in Kabul
2015-08-28
[Tolo News] Afghanistan's former president Sebghatullah Mojaddedi on Thursday announced the establishment of a new political party -- the Council of Jihadi -- which aims to put pressure on the National Unity Government to bring about reform.

Mohadedi said that eight parties had come together to form the new party. According to him, the party's main aim is to fight corruption, bring peace and security to the country and to support civil action movements.

Meanwhile,
...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow...
the former vice president Mohammad Karim Khalili, who has also joined the party, said that they are completely non-partisan.

"The party is totally independent and has no links to government or any foreign countries," said Khalili.

The party said that they will support the National Unity Government but will also oppose it if necessary.

"Ghani's government has done good but it has also made mistakes. The party aims to bring about reforms," Mojaddedi added.

"The new party will support good performance by government but it will strongly oppose wrongdoing on the part of government," Khalili added.

But party members raised their concerns over interference in Afghan affairs by neighboring countries and said that most of the security issues stem from outside the country.

The party members said that they will support the grinding of the peace processor and will not allow any group to make Afghanistan a safe haven for terrorists.

"The party supports, and will defend, the grinding of the peace processor and the party will not allow Afghanistan to be a safe haven for terrorists," Khalili said.

The party called on anti-government groups to join the grinding of the peace processor.

"We call on Afghan Taliban to stop destroying their 'house'," said Qazi Amin Weqad one of the party members said.

In addition, Ahmad Zia Massoud, special envoy to Ghani, who was also present, says today was a historic moment in Afghan politics - where different role players came together to find solutions.

"Despite problems the country has seen development and Afghanistan has made some achievements," Massoud said.

According to him it is usual for political parties to come together during a crisis in order to find solutions for their country.

Massoud went on to say that nepotism is rife in the country and even political parties are formed on the back of it.

"We should weaken the tribal axis but strengthen the national axis as any tribal government does not have good consequences," Massoud said.

Militants attacked Kabul guesthouse thinking Indian ambassador was present
2015-05-14
[Khaama (Afghanistan)] President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
's special envoy for good governance Ahmad Zia Massoud visited the attack scene in Kabul late on Wednesday night where a group of Death Eaters launched a coordinated attack.

Speaking to news hounds near the Park Palace Guesthouse, Massoud said the Death Eaters attacked the guesthouse thinking the ambassador was present in the compound.

Massoud said the attack on Park Palace Guesthouse is likely a political attack but he did not elaborate further.

A security official earlier said a musical event was due to be organized in the event which was due to be attended by the Turkish and Indian guests as well Afghan nationals.

This comes as the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier said he was concerned about the situation after hearing the news.

"In the aircraft I got news about the attack in Kabul. Am concerned about the situation & I pray for everyone's safety," Modi said through a Twitter message.

In the meantime, the Indian ambassador Amar Sinha earlier said all Indians reported safe and the Embassy is in constant touch with security forces and evacuation is on.

The Afghan cops continue to their operations as sporadic gunfire are heard from within the compound of the guesthouse.

There are still no reports regarding the exact casualties.

Release of Taliban Inmates Merely Strengthens the Insurgency: Massoud
2012-07-15
Releasing Death Eaters from Afghanistan's prisons is strengthening the "trenches" of the Taliban, head of Afghanistan's opposition party National Front Ahmad Zia Massoud said Saturday.
That's just so obvious that it shouldn't need to be said. But rather than listen to common sense we're going to release killers in the name of 'peace'. Instead, we'll get more killings...
Speaking at the "Woman's Rights in Society" conference in Kabul, Massoud spoke of the recent government move to release 79 suspected Death Eaters from two prisons, saying it would only lead to great insecurity in the country.

"The government has an interest in the jihad boy groups. Which authority allowed the President to release those who killed Afghans, Parliament?" Masoud said.

He said the move would not facilitate talks with the Taliban, the apparent reason for the move, pointing out that the Taliban have never recognised the Afghan government nor been open to talks.

Massoud also spoke of the violence against women in Afghanistan, saying that as long as the Afghan people hold on to old traditions, violence against woman will exist.

The government has failed to educate its people to forget these practices and live in a modern way, he added.

Who will replace Karzai?
2012-07-01
Nearing the end of his second term, the Afghan president wants early elections before US and NATO troops leave. His opponents are wary

The next two years are very important for Afghanistan. The US and NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A collection of multinational and multilingual and multicultural armed forces, all of differing capabilities, working toward a common goal by pulling in different directions...
are handing over security responsibilities to the Afghan cops and this transition will continue probably until 2014. Meanwhile,
...back at the wreckage, Captain Poindexter awoke groggily, his hand still stuck in the Ming vase...
political parties and coalitions are gearing up for the upcoming presidential election scheduled for the spring of 2014.

President Hamid Maybe I'll join the Taliban Karzai
... A former Baltimore restaurateur, now 12th and current President of Afghanistan, displacing the legitimate president Rabbani in December 2004. He was installed as the dominant political figure after the removal of the Taliban regime in late 2001 in a vain attempt to put a Pashtun face on the successor state to the Taliban. After the 2004 presidential election, he was declared president regardless of what the actual vote count was. He won a second, even more dubious, five-year-term after the 2009 presidential election. His grip on reality has been slipping steadily since around 2007, probably from heavy drug use...
is nearing the end of his second term, and the Afghan constitution only allows two terms for a president. Karzai has said he is considering holding presidential elections a year early, in 2013, and does not want to put too much pressure on the country when NATO combat forces are due to leave in 2014. "Either the elections could be brought forward, or the handover of security to Afghan forces could be speeded up," he said in a presser in Kabul on April 12.

"Skillfully navigating the complex regional, tribal and ethnic landscape has been Karzai's strongest ability"
Some Afghan politicians and analysts backed the proposal and warned the 2014 votes might be unfeasible if security declines as NATO troops withdraw. The election should be held while NATO troops are still present, they argue. Others see Karzai's proposal as a worrying admission that the Afghan cops might not be able to maintain peace in the country.

Analsysts believe Karzai is either preparing to run again or backing one of his brothers or close aides as his successor. "An early election would leave little time for electoral reforms to prevent a repeat of the massive ballot-stuffing fraud and use of government resources that marred Karzai's last victory," said General (r) Abdul Wahid Taqat, a former intelligence officer and a political analyst.

Independent candidates and coalitions are gearing up for the upcoming polls because there are no strong political parties in the country and the democratic system is weak
"Early elections can happen if something happens to the president or if the president resigns," said Bashir Alkozai, a senior analyst who monitors Afghanistan's parliamentary politics. "If he moves up elections, Karzai would have to resign and his first vice president, Mohammad Qasim Fahim, would take over. Emergency elections would then have to be scheduled within three months according the country's constitution."

The two largest political oppositions of the country - the National Coalition of Afghanistan (NCA) and the National Front of Afghanistan (NFA) - issued a joint statement on April 30 alleging the Karzai government was 'personalizing' the election institutions and engineering the date and outcome. The NCA is led by Dr Abdullah Abdullah
... the former foreign minister of the Northern Alliance government, advisor to Masood, and candidate for president against Karzai. Dr. Abdullah was born in Kabul and is half Tadjik and half Pashtun...
, who was a candidate in the 2009 presidential elections, and Mohammad Younas Qanoni, MP and leader of Afghanistan e Naween (New Afghanistan) political party. The NFA is a political alliance between Ahmad Zia Massoud, former first vice president and brother of late anti-Soviet and anti-Taliban capo Ahmed Shah Massoud, General Abdul Rashid Dostum
...ethnic Uzbek warlord who distinguished himself fighting the Soviets and the Taliban. The story that he had a bad guy run over with a tank is an exaggeration. It was an armored personnel carrier...
, the founder of Jombesh Party, and Muhammad Muhaqqiq, a leader of a faction of Hezb-e-Wahdat and a member of parliament from Kabul.

"The early election issue is just a political gimmick with specific objectives," said Sayed Fazel Sancharaki, front man for the NCA.

Analysts say Karzai has not decided whom to support as his successor, and he is not likely to, until the last minute. "Gaining the support of Karzai and the international community, especially the US, is essential to winning the vote," said Engineer Kamaal Khan Safi, an MP from Kunduz.

So far, only two people have formally announced that they plan to run for president: Ali Ahmad Jalali, a former interior minister and Fawzia Koofi, the deputy speaker of the Afghan parliament and the first woman to hold that office. Political analysts say neither of candidates is strong.

Karzai's elder brother, Qayyum Karzai, is also said to be planning to enter the race. Sources privy to the plans say Karzai's aides have advised the president to nominate Qayyum as his successor. But Karzai hinted he would not support Qayyum, fearing it may create the impression that he wants to keep the presidency in his own family.

Qayyum, 55, resigned from parliament in 2008 citing poor health. He has also reportedly been involved in back-channel peace diplomacy with the Taliban through Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in their national face...
.Two other potential candidates are Omar Daudzai, the Afghan ambassador in Pakistain and former chief of staff of the Afghan president, and Farooq Wardak, the education minister. Analysts believe one of them would get Karzai's backing.

"Daudzai, a long time confidant of Karzai, was the man behind the scene who helped bring Muhaqqiq and Dostum into the coalition," said Bashir Alkozai. "If either of these candidates receives Karzai's support, they will also benefit from his financial and political networks."

Abdullah Abdullah - Karzai's top contender in the 2009 presidential elections - and Ahmad Zia Massud - former first vice president and brother of Ahmed Shah Massud - are likely to be the candidates from NCA and NFA
While it is too early to anticipate, Karzai's voluntary departure before the election will not only sit positively with many Afghans, but will also leave him a respectable legacy in Afghan history, experts say. But they think Karzai wants to remain a Milli Mashar or 'national leader' after quitting. The absence of an alternative keeps the coalition forces dependent on Karzai. "Skillfully navigating the complex regional, tribal and ethnic landscape has been Karzai's strongest ability," said Arif Ansar, an Af-Pak expert at Politact, a Washington-based think tank. "Karzai has masterfully exploited the sensitivities of Pakistain's relations with India and the US and the recently signed Afghansian-India strategic deal is a case in point. When it comes to connecting with the Afghans, Karzai has consistently projected Pakistain as desiring to dominate them and has raised the issue of civilian casualties when it comes to NATO."

The NCA and the NFA have started initial preparations for the presidential elections. It is not known if they will be able to back a joint candidate. "There hasn't been any discussion over joint candidates," said Sancharaki, adding that they don't even know who the potential candidates are.

Abdullah Abdullah, Karzai's top contender in the 2009 presidential elections, and Massoud are likely to be the candidates from the NCA and the NFA respectively.

Some circles believe that Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq and the UN, and Hanif Atmar, former interior minister and a leader of Hezb-e-Haq-wa-Edalat (Truth and Justice Party) are also interested in running for president.

Political analysts say the majority of Afghans, who are Pashtuns, will accept the next president if he is a Pashtun from a leading tribe. Karzai was able to hold his own in large part because he is a Pashtun from the southern province of Kandahar, said Israr Ahmed Karimzai, another political analyst. Historically, he said, the south is the region where leaders come from.

"Most people go by what has traditionally been the case in Afghanistan," Arif Ansar said. "Moving forward, it should be what the majority of Afghans think. Although for this to happen, it will require unity amongst Afghans."

Experts say only independent candidates and coalitions are gearing up for the upcoming polls because there are no strong political parties in the country and the democratic system is weak. According to the website of the Afghan Ministry of Justice, there are 84 registered political parties in the country. These parties have been formed by Mujahideen leaders, members of the former People's Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDPA), and some independent figures. But because of a number of contributing factors, the political parties have no visible role in Afghan politics, especially the presidential polls.

"The affiliations of political parties are mostly with their ethnicity, tribes and region, and none of them are truly nationalistic in orientation," said Ansar.

The current Afghan government is structured around coalitions of individuals - former Mujahideen and influential tribal elders - and not around coalitions of political parties, said Bashir Alkozai. "Political parties have been isolated over the past decade, and will therefore not likely to strengthen."

ISI Behind Assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud: Relatives
2011-05-05
[Tolo News] Ahmad Zia Massoud, the former vice-president and the brother of Ahmad Shah Massoud, Wednesday accused Pakistain's ISI of being directly behind Massoud's liquidation.

Ahmad Zia Massoud said Osama Bin Laden, the former leader of al-Qaeda terror network, assassinated Ahmad Shah Massoud under the instruction of Pakistain.
Not personally, though. The former Mr. bin Laden was more of an idea man. He was keen on gleaming white robes and a well-brushed beard... not on anything that involved getting sweaty or dirty. That's what henchmen are for.
People close to Ahmad Shah Massoud see the presence of Pakistain's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) as a big threat to Afghanistan and the region.

On 9 September 2001, two days before the 9/11, two Arab nationals posing as journalists assassinated Ahmad Shah Massoud, the national hero of Afghanistan, in his base in northern Afghanistan after winning a chance to interview him.

"Ahmad Shah Massoud was an obstacle to Pakistain and some other neighbouring countries, so they plotted to get him assassinated by a terrorist organisation," Ahmad Zia Massoud, the brother of Massoud, said.

Some of Ahmad Shah Massoud's relatives criticise the Afghan government of not pursuing a thorough investigation into the liquidation.

"Regretfully, the investigations have not gone further from the time they started," Afghan Ambassador in Spain, Massoud Khalili, said.

"The factory of bad turban networks in the region and in particular in Afghanistan is run by Pakistain's military intelligence organisation," Ahmad Wali Massoud, head of Massoud foundation and Massoud's brother, said.

Two days after Massoud's liquidation the world was shocked by the 9/11 attacks carried out by al-Qaeda terror network.

The comments come after Osama Bin Laden was killed in Pakistain in an operation by US special forces. Osama's death in Pakistain was seen as a proof that the country was harbouring terrorists.
