Parts of Ghor, Faryab Devastated By Floods
2024-05-19
[TOLONEWS] Nearly 70 people have died due to devastating floods in the provinces of Ghor and Faryab.

Thousands of homes, hundreds of shops, and thousands of acres of farmland have been destroyed in these floods, and thousands of livestock have also perished.

Local officials in Ghor province have reported that ten residents are still missing, and the corpse count from the floods that occurred yesterday evening (Friday) may increase.

Yesterday's floods in Ghor have devastated nearly eighty percent of the city of Ferozkoh.

Additionally, the floods have surrounded the Minaret of Jam in Ghor, raising concerns about the potential destruction of this 800-year-old monument.

Abdul Wahid Hamas

, the spokesperson for the governor of Ghor, told TOLOnews: "In these floods, fifty people, including women and kiddies, have died, and several are missing. Two thousand houses have been completely destroyed, and more than four thousand houses have been partially damaged. US woman among 18 NGO staff detained in Afghanistan
2023-09-17
[Dawn] Afghanistan’s Taliban
...Arabic for students...
authorities have arrested at least 18 staff of an international NGO, including an American woman, accusing them of carrying out Christian missionary work, the country’s leaders said Saturday.

The International Assistance Mission (IAM) confirmed its staffers were picked up from its office in Ghor province, central Afghanistan, and taken to Kabul.

Security and intelligence forces had been observing the group for some time, Abdul Wahid Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood, Ghori, a government front man for the province, told AFP.

"Documents and audios were obtained that showed they were inviting people to join Christianity," he said, without providing further details.

He said 21 people were arrested, including an American woman.

IAM said in a statement earlier that 18 people, including a "foreigner", were being held and that it had no information about the nature of the allegations. The American woman and two Afghan staff were the first to be detained on September 3, followed by 15 more Afghan employees on Wednesday.

"Should any charges be lodged against our organization or any individual staff member, we will independently review any evidence presented," it added.

IAM’s website says the organization is founded on Christian values, but that it does not provide aid according to political or religious belief.

"We value and respect local customs and cultures," the Swiss-registered group said in a statement on Saturday.

IAM has operated in Afghanistan since 1966 — through previous royal, communist and Taliban governments — when it specialised in eye care, later branching out into other areas of health and education.

In 2010, 10 IAM medics, including eight foreigners, were rubbed out in an attack in remote northern Afghanistan. At the time, competing theories emerged over the motive for the attack, with police saying it was likely a robbery. However,
Caliphornia hasn't yet slid into the ocean, no matter how hard it's tried...
two krazed killer groups grabbed credit, including Taliban leaders who said the medics were Christian missionaries and accused them of working as military spies.

Dozens of foreigners — including several Westerners — have been detained by the Taliban authorities since the group’s return to power in August 2021.

The Taliban rulers have imposed sweeping restrictions on the population they say are in line with their strict interpretation of Islamic Sharia law — including barring women from working for NGOs and the United Nations

Taliban Force Man to Compulsorily Divorce His Wife in Ghor
2023-08-19
[8am] In a distressing incident that sheds light on the growing assertiveness of the Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
in various regions, reports from Ghor province indicate that Taliban fighters compelled a man to divorce his wife under duress, employing the threat of arms.

According to sources cited by Hasht-e Subh, on the night of Monday, August 14th, two armed Taliban members entered the residence of a man named Habibullah in Firuzkoh city, the center of Ghor province. Using weapons, they forcefully coerced him into divorcing his spouse against the will of both parties.

These sources further detail that the Taliban operatives, through armed force, extracted written and verbal confessions from Habibullah.

It has come to light that the woman was a dedicated Koranic teacher at a private school.

Following this event, the Taliban members allegedly sent coerced confessions from Habibullah to a district court operating under Taliban administration.

Simultaneously, reports indicate that the Taliban’s intelligence department has apprehended an individual associated with this incident, subjecting the matter to rigorous investigation.

However,
women are made to be loved, not understood...
a specific source alleges that Abdul Wahid Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,, the Taliban spokesperson in Ghor, is the primary suspect in this case. Allegedly, the Taliban’s intelligence department in Ghor summoned him to the group’s headquarters in the region for further inquiries.

These developments unfold against a backdrop of increasing reports where Taliban commanders and fighters have faced accusations of forced marriages and have repeatedly dealt with such cases using armed coercion.

Iraq foreign ministry issued +10,000 diplomatic passports for non-diplomats, lawmaker says
2023-05-02
Good to know.
[Shafaq News] Iraq's ministry of foreign affairs has awarded diplomatic passports to more than 10,000 persons from outside the diplomatic corps in the past four years, politician Sarwa Abdul-Wahid revealed on Monday.

The member of the parliamentary legal committee told Shafaq News Agency that she proceeded with legal action and took the matter to al-Karkh court.

The politician said that a judicial investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances of this alarming issue.

Abdul-Wahid expressed concerns about the huge number of diplomatic passports issued by the ministry over the past four years, indicating that it is highly improbable for Iraq to have such an extensive roster of diplomatic personnel.

"Among those passport holders, at least 10,000 individuals do not have any official connection to either the diplomatic service or the ministry of foreign affairs," she continued.

To address this pressing issue, Abdul Wahid revealed that plans are underway to invite the foreign minister for a discussion on the irregularities surrounding the situation.

Delhi gold smuggling: NIA to probe larger conspiracy, possible terror links
2022-03-07
[OneIndia] The National Investigation Agency has taken over the probe into the Delhi gold smuggling case. The NIA had earlier probed the Kerala gold smuggling case.

The case pertains to the smuggling of gold into the Delhi Airport from the United Arab Emirates. Sources tell OneIndia that the NIA would look at the possibility of a terror link in this case.

The Kerala case was first busted by the Customs following the recovery of 30 kilograms of gold which arrived from the UAE on June 30 2020. The NIA probe found that the gold was smuggled in a diplomatic cargo using forged authorisation letters.

On January 12 this year, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, Mohammad Shahjan was caught with 175 grams of gold and fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 10 lakh. He had arrived at Delhi from Ras-al-Khaimah in Dubai. Shahjan was arrested along with Amir-ul-Haq had come to the Delhi Airport to collect the consignment.

The NIA will investigate all angles and one primary one would be relating to the use of the UAE route to bring in gold into India. The NIA would also look to find out if the proceeds were going to be used for terror funding. The larger conspiracy in this case would also be looked into, the source cited above also said.

Initial investigation against arrested accused Abdul Wahid Saddam has revealed that he is an active member of a gang involved in smuggling of FICNs and gold into India.

Islamic Emirate to Form Military Court
[ToloNews] Officials of the Islamic Emirate said that they would investigate military cases and that no military personnel "even at a high position" would be granted judicial immunity.

The supreme leader of the Islamic Emirate, Hibatullah Akhundzada, ordered the formation of the military court within the structure of the current government.

Islamic Emirate’s front man, Zabiullah Mujahid, said that despite the existence of a military court in the previous government, the cases of the military officials remain unsolved.

"The Islamic Emirate considered filling this need, and therefore, we formed a military court. The cases belonging to this court will be investigated and it will be implemented under the Islamic structure," Mujahid said.

Based on the decree signed by the Islamic Emirate’s Supreme leader, Mawllavi Obaidullah Nizami has been appointed as head of the court. Mawllavi Sayed Agha and Mawllavi Zahid Akhundzada are appointed as judges.

The Islamic Emirate said that the court is authorized to investigate complaints against the staff of the defense and interior ministries as well as intelligence department.

"The decision of the military court will be accomplished after it is confirmed by the three courts (primary, appellate and supreme court)," said Inamullah Samangani, deputy front man for the Islamic Emirate.

However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate...
is the establishment of a military court effective considering the current situation in Afghanistan?

Military veteran Gen. Abdul Wahid Taqat gave his opinion: "It has benefits and problems at the same time. If the problems are solved, and it is used properly, everyone would be ready to refer to this court."

This comes as the cases against some former military officials, who were accused of corruption, have still remained closed.

Islamic Emirate Forbids Informal Courts Among Ranks
[ToloNews] The Islamic Emirate’s Purification Commission banned the use of informal courts within its forces' ranks, especially those deemed kangaroo courts in which people are tried and sentenced for desertion or other alleged crimes.

The commission on Friday held a gathering at the lower house of the parliament to coordinate its activities with provincial leaders.

The head of the commission, Latifullah Hakimi, ordered the forces of the Islamic Emirate to prevent the desertion court and "arbitrary operations." He also warned that those who cooperated with the ISIS group would not be granted immunity.

"If anyone become suspicious of cooperating with the ISIS... there is no immunity for them," he said.

"We started the investigation earlier to pursue inappropriate individuals or those who betray the (Islamic Emirate)," said Fathihullah Madani, head of Kabul intelligence.

The officials warned that those who disturb the people would be held accountable.

"Those evil elements who wanted to be placed among the Islamic Emirate forces have been prevented, " said General Shir Mohammad Sharif, deputy head of the commission.

After reports claimed that the forces related to the Islamic Emirate misbehaved toward the people in various parts of the country, the current government formed a commission to address the problems.

"Those who claim to be a member of the (Islamic Emirate) and bother the army, police or traders, will not be allowed to continue," said Mawllavi Azizullah Ghaznawi, a member of the commission.

Terror groups trying to shift focus from Kashmir valley to Jammu: Jitendra Singh
2021-02-22
[OneIndia] Terrorist groups and their handlers were trying to shift the focus from Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
valley to the Jammu region, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said on Saturday.

He called for the "highest level of vigil" on the part of the security forces and alertness among the general public in the wake of these developments.

This and other issues were discussed during a meeting between Jammu and Kashmir's director general of police (DGP) Dilbag Singh and the minister during their meeting here, officials said.

The police chief also briefed the minister about the security situation in the Union Territory. Jitendra Singh said that the security forces had earned all-round appreciation for the way they had thwarted some major terror incidents in Jammu recently.

He, however, noted the "recent phenomenon" of terrorist groups and their handlers trying to shift the focus from Kashmir valley to the Jammu region including the Jammu city, the officials said. This calls for the highest level of vigil on the part of the security forces and at the same time, alertness and awareness among the general public, Singh said.

The minister of state for personnel conveyed his appreciation for some of the major recent breakthroughs and achievements of the Jammu and Kashmir police and the par-military forces. At the same time, he expressed concern over the selective terrorist attacks like the one on the son of the owner of popular Krishna Dhaba in Srinagar.

The DGP informed the minister that within 24 hours all the three culprits, including the shooter involved in the attack on the Krishna Dhaba proprietor, have been nabbed.

Aakash Mehra, the son of the Dhaba owner, was shot at from a close range and critically maimed on Wednesday evening.

The Moslem Janbaz Force, a terror outfit that was active in the early 1990s, had grabbed credit for the attack.
