UK government calls urgent meeting with BBC over Gaza documentary scandal |
2025-03-01 |
[IsraelTimes] Culture secretary says she wants ‘assurances no stone will be left unturned’ in review of decision to air film that featured son of Hamas minister The government is embarrassed — that kind of thing rolls downhill. The British government called an urgent meeting with the BBC on Friday over the making of a documentary about children’s lives in Gazoo...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with a rusty iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppressionand disproportionate response... that was narrated by the 13-year-old son of a deputy minister in the Paleostinian enclave’s Hamas ![]() government. The BBC said on Thursday there had been "serious flaws" in "Gaza: How To Survive A War Zone," made by an independent production company, and removed it from its online platform, days after it was first broadcast on television. Which they only noticed a week after the thing aired and the appalled protests spread. Hamas is deemed a terrorist organization by Britannia, the United States and the European Union...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... The BBC’s decision followed criticism by online commentators who said the narrator was the son of Ayman al-Yazouri, deputy minister of agriculture in Gaza. Independent producer Jamie Roberts produced something too good to check, so the BBC didn’t demand answers, even though Mr. Roberts is known in certain circles for, among others, the 2016 release of (also in our archives as The Jihadist Next Door) for Channel 4, about a group of London followers of Anjem Choudary’s dawa (outreach) group al-Muhajiroun, some of whom ended up killing and dying — in this case for ISIS, though since the 1990s al Muhajiroun has fed killers to various branches of both ISIS and Al Qaeda — following the path laid down by half the British jihadis at home and abroad.Britannia’s publicly funded BBC has faced criticism over its coverage of the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza by external commentators and some staff members. Some critics accuse it of bias toward the Paleostinians, others of bias toward Israel.Did the producer get USAID money to help make the thing? Did the BBC for its production? BBC Director General Tim Davie, when quizzed by politicians, said last year the BBC was overall "doing a good job in terms of delivering impartial coverage amidst enormous pressure."No doubt that’s what it looks like from his perspective, given their coverage ranges from far left to slightly less far left despite the criticism from the actual right. The BBC said in a statement that an internal review had found that the corporation had asked Hoyo Films — the production company it commissioned — several times in writing whether the family in the documentary had any connection to Hamas.Several times? Why would they ask such a thing, and why would they need reassurance about the answer? The BBC said Hoyo Films acknowledged the connection only after the documentary was broadcast.Possibly a mistake. The production company also revealed that they paid the boy’s mother "a limited sum of money" for the narration. The BBC is seeking additional assurance that no money was paid directly or indirectly to Hamas. The lad’s mother is married to a Hamas big turban. What odds she said nothing to her husband? Announcing Friday’s meeting with BBC Chair Samir Shah, Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy said: "I want assurances that no stone will be left unturned." She was referring to a BBC pledge to undertake a full fact-finding review and refer the issue to its editorial complaints unit.The broadcaster apologized for the documentary late on Thursday, saying the processes and execution around its production fell short of its expectations. It said the production company and the BBC had made unacceptable errors and that the BBC took full responsibility for the mistakes and their impact on the corporation’s reputation. The production company could not immediately be reached for comment. Hamas did not immediately comment. Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel said it was "utterly disgraceful" that the BBC had decided to air a "Hamas propaganda film" in the week that the bodies of hostage Shiri Bibas and her two sons were returned from Gaza. She called for a thorough investigation. The revelations sparked an angry response and led to protests outside the BBC’s London headquarters. A spokesperson for Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) said: "The BBC’s bias and lack of accountability have led it to a new low, where it is a mouthpiece for murderous Moslems and their supporters." The Telegraph also reported Tuesday that the Arabic words for "Jew" and "Jews" were translated to "Israelis" or "Israeli forces," and all mentions of "Jihad" were translated to "battle" or "resistance." The work of the producer or of the BBC? It matters who dunnit…. The broadcaster is now working to determine whether any disciplinary action is warranted "in relation to shortcomings in the making of this program.""This will include issues around the use of language, translation and continuity that have also been raised with the BBC," it said. The BBC’s decision to remove the documentary from its catch-up service also led to criticism, with more than 500 TV and film workers — including former England soccer player Gary Lineker — sending an open letter calling the move "politically-motivated censorship." "This film is an essential piece of journalism, offering an all-too-rare perspective on the lived experiences of Paleostinian children living in unimaginable circumstances, which amplifies voices so often silenced," said the letter. The documentary was initially broadcast on February 17. Related: Ayman al-Yazouri 02/22/2025 BBC pulls Gaza documentary after star revealed as son of Hamas minister |

UK remands Islamist preacher in custody on terror charges

Both arrested a week ago, but clearly not to be trusted out on bail until convicted and starting their formal prison sentences. [IsraelTimes] Radical holy man Anjem Choudary was arrested together with a Canadian man; both are charged with being members of a terrorist organizationBritish Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary ![]() was remanded in jug by a UK magistrate on Monday, after London’s Metropolitan police charged him with three terrorism offenses. Choudary, 56, faces charges of belonging to a proscribed organization, addressing meetings to encourage support for a proscribed organization and directing a terrorist organization, the force said. A 28-year-old Canadian, Khaled Hussein,
Both appeared separately at Westminster Magistrates Court in London, which heard that the charges relate to "an extreme form of Islam." "The charges relate to the proscribed organization al-Muhajiroun ...formerly Omar Bakri Muhammad's spin off group from Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain, where the detestable lunatic Anjem Chaudry got his start. More recently the name adopted by al-Qaeda in East Africa for operations in Kenya and Tanzania. It is subordinate to al-Shabaab but will probably be strong enough to fly on its own, given an uninterrupted flow of petrodollars, should the Shaboobs collapse.... , also known as the Islamic Thinkers Society," prosecutor Nick Price said. Anjem Choudary’s branch fed fighters to both Al Qaeda and ISIS, being the connection to oodles of vicious men in our archives and beyond. "Criminal proceedings against Mr. Choudary and Mr. Hussein are now active and they each have the right to a fair trial," he added.Chief magistrate Paul Goldspring ordered the pair remanded in jug and set their next appearance, at the central criminal courthouse known as the Old Bailey, on August 4. Choudary, from east London, wore a black jacket and glasses, and spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during Monday’s 30-minute court hearing. He was not asked to enter any pleas to the three charges. A lawyer for Hussein, who is from Edmonton in the Canadian province Alberta, said he would not be entering a plea. The defendant spoke — in a Canadian accent — only to confirm his name, date of birth and address. He is alleged to have been in "close contact" with Choudary online to provide "a platform" for the group’s views for around two years, the court heard. Counterterror officers investigating alleged membership of the proscribed organization arrested both men last Monday, the Metropolitan police has said. Officers detained Choudary in east London and held Hussein at Heathrow Airport after he arrived on a flight.
An offshoot of Al-Muhajiroun was banned, or proscribed, in 2006 for glorifying terrorism. That ban was expanded in 2010 to include a number of other names, including Al-Muhajiroun. [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] Usman Khan is the Pakistani-Brit jailbird who in November, 2019 ran off from a crime conference to knife all the passersby he could reach before being stopped and killed. As a precocious 15 year old high school drop-out he’d gotten on terrorist watchlists for preaching hate with Anjem Chaudry’s al-Muhajiroun on the streets of Stoke-on-Trent. He’d been released in 2018 after serving time for plotting to bomb the London stock exchange for Al Qaeda in Arabia, but ISIS claimed he died while running amok in their name. We just characterize him as a Devout Muslim, and leave the hairsplitting to others. Authorities believe the 24-year-old man, who wasn’t identified, was part of a group that sought to strike a church in England, possibly St. Paul´s Cathedral in London, but British police thwarted the plot, Norwegian broadcaster NRK reported Monday. The man was also allegedly involved in plans for one or more attacks in Denmark in March and April 2019 with help from at least one Danish citizen, prosecutor Geir Evanger told NRK. Those attacks are believed to have been prevented as well. The man has maintained his innocence. If found guilty, the man who claims to be innocent, faces up to 21 years in jail, NRK said. The trial starts in Oslo on May 18. Evanger was quoted as saying by NRK that as to his involvement in IS, the man spread "extremist material, NRK said the man had been held in jug for a while. ![]() I scrolled through a few days of Breitbart’s London/Europe articles, collecting the best for your delectation in this time of Covid lockdowns, dear Reader. It will be interesting to see how things change after emergency measures are ended. Prison to Terror Pipeline Encouraged by ‘Soft’ Treatment of Convicted Terrorists: ReportNota bene: Breitbart’s latest Britain and Europe articles are always listed here, if you don’t want to wait for someone else to get around to posting articles. [Breitbart] Britain’s prison system is facilitating the spread of extremist ideologies by taking a soft approach to convicted terrorists, the government’s independent terrorism watchdog has found.
In October, two radical Islamic inmates were found guilty of attempted murder against a prison guard, who they tried to stab to death. One of the inmates, Brusthom Ziamani, 25, was already serving a 22-year-sentence for plotting to behead a soldier. Earlier this month, Islamist terrorist Khairi Saadallah received a rare whole life sentence for killing three men with a knife and injuring three others during an attack in Reading last summer. During his trial, it was revealed that the 26-year-old Libyan national was further radicalised by a “prominent radical preacher” Omar Brooks — a member of infamous Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary‘s banned al-Muhajiroun organisation — while he was serving time in prison for a non-terror-related crime. Former prisoners have also committed terrorist attacks in Streatham and on London Bridge. A previous independent review carried out by Professor Ian Acheson in 2016, found that Islamic extremism was a “growing problem” in British prisons. Despite this, there was “widespread reluctance” from prison administrators to enact reforms and crackdown on the extremist behaviour “because of the fear of being labelled racist“, government sources claimed at the time. Migrant Terrorist Free to Kill Despite 7 Convictions [Breitbart] Islamic extremist Khairi Saadallah had been a member of the Islamic Ansar al-Sharia terrorist organisation in Libya, with his bogus asylum claim being rejected by Britain’s Home Office all the way back in 2012. The authorities failed to remove him, however, despite his rapid collection of absconding incidents, criminal convictions, and prison sentences, culminating in his “execution” of three men in a public park in a radical Islamic terror attack, just days after he had been released early from a sentence for previous terror offences. Despite tough talk on deportation from Home Secretary Priti Patel, the (already low) number of removals actually plummetted by 79 per cent in 2020, while mass legal immigration and illegal immigration have both risen dramatically during her and Boris Johnson’s tenure. UK Migrant Camp Under COVID Lockdown Amid Mass Rule Breaking [Breitbart] The migrant camp in Kent has been placed under lockdown after an outbreak of the Chinese coronavirus in the former army barracks amidst widespread flouting of the rules by the alleged asylum seekers. At least 100 of the 400 migrant men housed in the Napier Barracks in Folkestone are believed to have contracted the coronavirus, which the government has blamed on the illegals for failing to abide by social distancing regulations and even refusing to take COVID-19 tests. Just last week, migrants at the camp staged a protest in clear violation of the UK’s coronavirus lockdown measures, which prohibit mass gatherings. Last week a similar protest was staged at the Penally Army Centre near the small Welsh village of Tenby, which was also converted into a migrant camp last year, amidst record waves of illegal boat migration. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, who released footage of the protest, remarked: “Now it would appear that one of the reasons for the protest in Tenby is they don’t like the conditions. They say they are entitled to a more normal life. “They are only entitled to it if their claim for refugee status is successful. But the Home Office committee themselves say that 81 per cent of those come into the country don’t even qualify for asylum because they’ve come already from a safe country.” As of September of last year, there are some 60,548 alleged asylum seekers in the country, all of whom are guaranteed taxpayer-funded accommodations. The migrants are also afforded a weekly allowance of at least £35.39, as well as access to National Health Service (NHS) healthcare, and taxpayer-funded education for children between the ages of five and 17.

British woman jailed for plot to bomb London’s St Paul’s Cathedral
2020-07-04 | ||
Please don't kill me! for at least 14 years on Friday for plotting to blow up London’s St Paul’s Cathedral and then herself in a suicide kaboom on the London subway. Safiyya Sheikh,
The heroin user, who converted to Islam in 2007, expressed no remorse as she was sentenced at London’s Old Bailey, gesturing to news hounds using Islamic State ![]() Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... ’s one-finger salute as she was led away. Prosecutors also disclosed details of a call she made to a friend from prison in which she said: "I didn’t get cold feet, yeah — I was ready to go through with it." The court was told she intended to trigger a boom jacket at the nearby London Underground station immediately after detonating the cathedral bombs. Judge Nigel Sweeney sentenced Sheikh to life in prison with a minimum term of 14 years. He said her defence team’s claim that she had changed her mind about going through with the attack prior to her arrest "was a lie". "Your intention had been — and remained throughout — strong," the judge said. The investigation showed that she had confessed in August last year to undercover agents that she "would like to kill a lot". She visited St Paul’s Cathedral — a popular tourist destination facing the London Stock Exchange — in September on a reconnaissance mission and was arrested the following month. London’s counterterrorism police chief Richard Smith said Sheikh "loved watching graphic videos of terror" and changed her name from Michelle Ramsden after a "truly traumatic childhood".
Sweeney added: "I had already reached the sure conclusion in the original evidence that your claim of doubt to the police and others was a lie. Your intention had been — and remained throughout — strong." During the sentencing hearing last month, Alison Morgan QC, prosecuting, said Sheikh was a " Sheikh’s online propaganda postings were sophisticated and "prolific", the court was told, including pictures of executions, glorification of atrocities and spreading threats to carry out mass murder. Sheikh had no previous terror-related convictions but was on the radar of counter-terrorism Sherlocks from at least 2016. She was referred to the Prevent deradicalisation programme three times between 2016 and 2018 but each time she disengaged. She was never referred to the counter-extremism scheme Channel. On the encrypted message service Telegram, Sheikh ran a social media channel called GreenB1rds, which spread pro-Isis propaganda and called for attacks in the UK and overseas specifically on churches. Sometimes she posed as a man online, believing it would encourage more people to engage with her. Detectives had evidence that she was so fixated on her own martyrdom that she was lining up others to take over her Telegram account. On 18 August 2019, she was stopped at Luton airport and prevented from flying to to Amsterdam. Her ticket had been purchased by Yousra Lemouesset, a Netherlands-based Isis supporter who has since been convicted of terror offences. [IsraelTimes] Two prisoners wearing fake suicide belts slash guard with homemade knives, wounding him and four other officials who intervene; one is follower of radical holy man Anjem Choudary A knife attack on a British prison officer by two inmates wearing fake suicide belts is being treated as a terrorist attack, police said Friday. Two prisoners wielding improvised bladed weapons slashed the officer’s head and neck in Thursday’s attack at the maximum security Whitemoor prison in eastern England. Four other prison staff were maimed as they stepped in and detained the attackers, and were taken to hospital alongside the original victim. All five officers have now been released. One of the suspects was named by media as Brusthom Ziamani, 24, a follower of radical preacher Anjem Choudary ![]() who was convicted in 2015 of plotting to behead a British soldier.
Please don't kill me! for a violent offence. "The matter is being treated as a terrorist attack and the investigation continues at pace," said London’s Metropolitan Police, which leads on national counter-terrorism matters. "The incident itself was quickly contained and dealt with by prison staff. "From our inquiries thus far, there is nothing to suggest any continuing threat inside or outside of the prison system linked to yesterday’s incident." The suspects remain in prison and no arrests have been made, police said. There has been a sharp increase in prisoners convicted of terrorism-related offences in the past few years, sparking growing concerns that other inmates may become radicalized. The government has trained almost 20,000 staff in extremism awareness training, and employs multi-faith chaplaincy teams in all prisons. It also opened two Separation Centers where individuals considered to pose the biggest risk are kept away from the main prison population. Hate preacher Anjem Choudary to be freed from jail despite remaining 'genuinely dangerous' |
2018-09-16 |
![]() [Telegraph] Anjem Choudary, the notorious Islamist hate preacher, will be released from jail next month despite a chilling warning from the justice minister that he remained "genuinely dangerous". Choudary, 51, is due to be freed within weeks after serving half of a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence for encouraging Muslims to join Islamic State. The Government admitted on Tuesday it was powerless to prevent Choudary from being released on licence. Rory Stewart, the prisons minister, said that the preacher was "a deeply pernicious, destabilising influence". Mr Stewart, in an interview, added: "He is... somebody who is a genuinely dangerous person. We will be watching him very carefully." Choudary was leader of the proscribed terrorist group al-Muhajiroun, whose followers included Khuram Butt, part of the London Bridge terror cell who murdered eight innocent bystanders in June last year. Other disciples include Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, the killers of Fusilier Lee Rigby, murdered outside his barracks in south London in 2013. |
