According to officials, two important murderous Moslem leaders were among the dead. A Frontier Corps

said troops launched an operation on intelligence reports about presence of gunnies of a banned organization in Rustam Darbar and Drinjan Nullah areas of Sui in Dera Bugti district.

When the troops entered the difficult mountainous area the gunnies opened fire. The soldiers fired back.

"A heavy gunbattle ensued which continued for several hours, resulting in the death of eight murderous Moslems, including their commander," the FC front man claimed. He said the gunnies who belonged to the banned Baloch Republican Army used rockets, hand-grenades and mortars.

Their commander was identified as Chella Reesh.

The FC front man claimed that the gunnies were planning to carry out terrorist attacks. "They were involved in attacking security forces and blowing up gas pipelines, power pylons and railway tracks in Sibi, Nasirabad and Dera Bugti districts," he said, adding that a large quantity of weapons and ammunition was found in their hideouts and camps which had been destroyed during the operation.

four suspected murderous Moslems, including a commander of the banned Lashker-e-Jhangvi, were killed during the operation in Mian-Ghundi, a locality in the outskirts of Quetta, on Tuesday late night.

According to officials, the action was taken after FC and intelligence personnel intercepted a vehicle in Mian-Ghundi, about 30km from the quiet provincial capital. The murderous Moslems, who were using an infrequent route to enter the city, opened fire on the personnel and tried to escape.

The FC front man said the troops cordoned off the area and launched an operation. A heavy exchange of fire took place which continued for three fours. "Four armed murderous Moslems, including their commander, were killed," the front man said, adding that a soldier was injured.

"The gunnies killed were coming from Mastung to carry out attacks on security forces in Quetta," he claimed.

He said they were involved in suicide kabooms in Hazara town and attacks on convoys of Shia pilgrims and security forces in Quetta and other areas.

The talkative dead
2013-01-18
The writer is a policeman who was working crowd control as the Hazaras were protesting the murder of 86 of their number by Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. This is the second half of his opinion piece. The Hazaras are Asiatic Shias, whom the devout are in the process of trying to kill off.
[Dawn]
Hazaras are being killed like birds in a cage. They cannot run, they cannot hide, they cannot defend themselves. I saw a poster of one of the victims of the Quetta tragedy and remembered this young man Irfan Khudi as a regular participant of civil society demonstrations. I looked at a Hazara child and wondered if he will live to be a man and die a natural death in old age. Or will he become another talkative dead body like the 86 who were speaking non-stop for the past three days, from their coffins placed on Alamdar Road in Quetta? Why are they talking and why won't they let their families bury them? Why was I thinking? I am only required to watch, anticipate, and act, I reminded myself.

Except for a brief encounter with students from a nearby madrassah yesterday, who took offence at anti Lashker-e-Jhangvi slogans, the marathon event had been largely uneventful and sober.
But there was nothing to do. Except for a brief encounter with students from a nearby madrassah yesterday, who took offence at anti Lashker-e-Jhangvi slogans, the marathon event had been largely uneventful and sober. Protesters were sitting on neatly laid rows of darris, listening to speeches from anyone who wished to say something. Occasionally, a speaker from Quetta or an overseas gathering would be heard through phone line. Apparently, similar protests were being held everywhere Pakistanis live. There weren't many Hazaras among the speakers though.
They sat motionless, or served the protesters food and tea with a hospitable smile, and spoke shyly and politely; too politely for a people being hounded relentlessly and murdered systematically.
They sat motionless, or served the protesters food and tea with a hospitable smile, and spoke shyly and politely; too politely for a people being hounded relentlessly and murdered systematically. It must be the reticence and compulsive politeness of the whole community that was infuriating the dead. Their decomposing bodies were yelling for the living Hazaras to speak up for their right to live. The effort pushed the remaining blood in their bodies to spill out of their pores, and the family mourners had to change their white cotton shrouds every few hours.

I thought of my village in Potohar and tried to imagine the reaction of people there if a 100 of them were murdered in one day. There will be mayhem. At least 200 of our enemies will have to pay a price with their blood. If we can't punish them ourselves we'll push the police, army, courts, and governments to do that. If that fails men will sell their fields and women their jewellery to buy weapons or hire a terrorist gang, but we will be avenged. And here, are these Hazaras who've lost close to a thousand people in a year and are being so apologetic for having to block a road, for protesters spending a freezing cold night under the sky, for not providing children and women with warm and comfortable bedding ... 'Oh poor Hazaras, poor poor Hazaras' cried the dead and choked on their own words.

No one cares for the Hazara, someone said in a small group of protesters standing close to me, having a smoking break. Others joined in:

"The chief minister is still abroad."

As if he could be of any help if he was here. The last time Hazaras were killed he said that all he can do is send them a truckload of tissue rolls to wipe their tears.

The prime minister says he'll meet with Hazara community leaders in a week's time and will listen to their demands.

Forget the governments, even the media does not care. Tomorrow's long march is more important for them.

Suddenly, the Alamdar dead's voice rose as one and addressed me directly. I could hear it clearly. It said what started with the Ahmadis is not going to end with the Shias. When all Shias are killed or forced out of Pakistan, or tamed into submission, then what? Who is next? It could be you, or your sons and daughters.
The BBC Urdu Service says the most popular story on its website is about adult filmmakers in Hollywood challenging the legislation that requires actors to use condoms.

If you want to live, you'll have to speak up for the right of others to live. Sit down with these protesters or run away from this country as fast as you can.

And that was when it happened. I never mix work with emotions. I always control crowds and never become part of one. And I never, ever listen to the dead ... I took off my service beret, wrapped a chador around my uniform and name plate, and sat down on the darri among my own.

Police arrest two alleged Lej militants in Karachi
2012-12-05
[Dawn] Apparently foiling a terrorist plan of a suicide kaboom on an Imambargah, police on Tuesday incarcerated
... anything you say can and will be used against you, whether you say it or not...
two alleged hard boyz belonging to banned Lashker-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It may be the largest city in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, DawnNews reported.

According to police sources, Azizabad police resorted to counter-firing when suspects in a Highroof van refused to stop at a security check-point and opened fire on officials near the Bloody Karachi Academy in Azizabad.

Subsequently, two suspects— Hanif and Chiragh Deen— were arrested with two riffles and a bomb-detonator. However,
some men learn by reading. A few learn by observation. The rest have to pee on the electric fence for themselves...
the source said, Qari Ghulam, Riaz and Qari Ghulam Akber successfully fled the site.

Police suggests the arrested belong to the banned LeJ and were trained in Afghanistan’s Qandahar area.

According to initial interrogation, the source said, a stolen vehicle was being prepared for a suicide attack on an Imambargah in the city’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighbourhood. They wanted to hand over the vehicle to a jacket wallah in New Bloody Karachi’s Khamiso Goth, the police source added.

LJ plans attacks on Shia leaders and worship places
2007-01-01
The intelligence agencies have unearthed a plan of the banned militant organisation Lashker-e-Jhangvi (LJ) to target prominent Shia leaders and scholars and carry out suicide attacks on Shia worship places in various parts of the country, Daily Times has learnt. In a report to the Interior Ministry, the intelligence agencies have said that the LJ has reactivated its activists for attacks on Shias and their mosques and imambargahs. They have also mentioned in the report that LJ’s underground militants will accelerate their activities as the holy month of Muharram nears, sources said.

The report says that LJ activists could target Shia leaders and scholars in various parts of the country. Among the Shia worship places, Jamia Al-Muntazir in Lahore, Qasr-e-Zenab in Bhakkar, Qasr-ul-Qaim in Sargodha and Imambargah Kharadar and Jamia Islami in Karachi could be attacked. Jihadis preparing to avenge Bajaur
2006-12-18
Militants belonging to banned jihadi outfits are planning suicide attacks on army installations in Pakistan and foreign troops in Afghanistan in revenge for the air strike on a Bajaur madrassa in November, Daily Times has learnt.

According to reports submitted by intelligence agencies to the Interior Ministry, Maulvi Inayatur Rehman and Maulana Faqir Mohammad of the Tehreek Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammadi (TNSM) have pledged before their supporters to target VIPs in Pakistan and US and NATO forces in Afghanistan. The bombed Bajaur madrassa was run by the TNSM and is thought to have been used as a training camp for militants.

Sources said that British and US diplomats and nationals were also possible targets of the militants. Leaders of the Harkatul Mujahideen, Lashker-e-Jhangvi and Khudamul Islam have also pledged to cooperate with the TNSM and called for a joint strategy, the sources added.

Banned outfits may target Iranian envoys, Shia leaders
2006-10-30
The intelligence agencies have informed the Interior Ministry that banned militant outfits, including Sipah-e-Sahaba and Lashker-e-Jhangvi, plan to target Iranian diplomats and prominent Shia leaders following the publication of a book in Iran, sources told Daily Times. The book titled “Tareekh-e-Ambia” (history of the prophets) reportedly carries sketches of the Prophet Muhammad (may his drip clear up peace be upon him). Intelligence reports submitted to the Interior Ministry warn that the Sunni militant outfits see the sketches as blasphemy and may retaliate by targeting Shia leaders or diplomats in major cities of NWFP, including Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan.

In light of the intelligence reports, the Interior Ministry has directed the provincial home secretaries and the chief commissioner of Islamabad to beef up security around Iranian establishments, diplomats and Shia leaders. The ministry has also directed the provincial and Islamabad police chiefs to raid the hideouts of banned militant outfits and arrest anyone hiding there. The provincial authorities have also been asked to direct all station house officers to visit seminaries and guesthouses located in their areas, the sources added.

President warned of another attack
2005-11-04
Intelligence agencies have warned the government that banned jihadi outfits are planning to make another assassination attempt on President General Pervez Musharraf. According to intelligence reports submitted to the Interior Ministry, the Lashker-e-Jhangvi and Jamiatul Furqan (formerly Jaish-e-Mohammad) are trying to “cultivate” a relative of the president who is not on good terms with him or against his policies, sources told Daily Times.

The report says if this scheme fails, the terrorist groups, which have so far been unable to penetrate the tight security around Gen Musharraf, could target close relatives or friends of the president. In light of the intelligence reports, the Interior Ministry has asked the home secretaries of the four provinces and the chief commissioner of Islamabad to collect the particulars of the close relatives and friends of the president and submit them to the ministry, the sources added. The authorities have also been directed to brief the relatives and friends of Gen Musharraf and warn them to be extra careful about their personal security. Meanwhile, the police have been asked to tighten security all round.
Wonder if some close relatives of Perv are going to have terrible accidents soon?

Bari Imam blast: Masterminds belong to LJ linked group
2005-06-14
Investigators have traced the masterminds of a suicide attack on the shrine of Hazrat Bari Imam killing 20 people and injuring several others, sources told Daily Times on Monday. Sources said that an investigation team by the Punjab Crime Investigation Department Police, Federal Investigation Agency and the Intelligence Bureau found that Asif Chhota and Bara Usman from the Qari Group, a dissident of the banned religious outfit Lashker-e-Jhangvi, masterminded the attack.
Oh, gee. Somebody boomed a Shiite shrine. After intense investigation, it's deteermined it was Lashkar e-Jhangvi. WHO THE HELL DID YOU THINK IT WAS?
They said the two were included in the most-wanted list and the Punjab Police had put Rs 1 million head money on each.
Yeah. That tactic certainly works well, doesn't it? I'll bet the tips are just oozing in...
The investigation team also traced the calls made to the cell phones of Asif Chhota and Bara Usman during the explosion at the Bari Imam shrine, sources said. One investigation team member told Daily Times that Bara Usman said that Usman bought explosive material from the tribal area and made a bomb within two hours. The member, who asked not to be named, said that Asif and Usman were in Islamabad two weeks before the Bari Imam incident and instigated suicide bomber Mohsin Ali to launch the attack. Sources said the two had also planned suicide attacks on various Shia mosques on the outskirts of Islamabad, sources said.
Most of us are capable of pulling off, at most, one suicide attack...
The investigation showed that there was disagreement between the supporters of the two factions of the defunct Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqh Jafria group — one headed by Hamid Musvi and the other by Allama Sajid Naqvi. Sources said that the two groups wanted to take control of the Bari Imam shrine.
But neither of them boomed it.

4 Involved in Sectarian Attacks Held in Karachi
2003-10-23
Four suspected militants belonging to an outlawed group have been arrested for a spate of attacks this year in Karachi. The four, belonging to the banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi group, carried out at least eight attacks this year, including one on a bus on Oct. 3 that killed six people, said provincial police chief Syed Kamal Shah. The ringleader, Shahnawaz Shan, also confessed to a failed suicide bombing attack on a senior police official in July, Shah told reporters.
I'll bet old Shahnawaz sure felt embarrassed showing up back at the hideout while his buds were toasting his heroic suicide attack...
“He was arrested in an overnight raid. Police seized a Kalashnikov rifle and a pistol from his possession.” Based on Shan’s statements, three of his accomplices were arrested in a series of raids and police found several assault rifles, hand grenades and explosives in their possession, Shah added.
What's unusual about that? Doesn't everybody in Pakland lug that sort of stuff around?
The group also attacked a mosque on Feb. 22, killing nine people. “So far we have not been able to find out whether they had ties with Al-Qaeda.” Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had close ties with the Taleban and some of its militants also helped Al-Qaeda network in Pakistan. Police blame Lashkar-e-Jhangvi for most of the sectarian bloodletting in Pakistan. Every year hundreds of people are killed in the country in targeted attacks by militants.

A bit more, from Shia News...
