Pak Institute for Peace Studies reports surge in terrorist attacks in Pakistan |
2024-09-04 |
Pakistan’s ISI cultivated jihadis pretty much since Pakistan's founding as a deniable instrument of state. Now they’re paying the price, poor darlings. [KhaamaPress] Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS) reported an increase in terrorist attacks across Pakistain in August compared to the previous month, with 84 individuals killed as a result of these attacks. The institute, in its report released on Tuesday, September 3rd, stated that at least 166 others were maimed in terrorist attacks throughout Pakistain. According to the report, 29 attacks occurred in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 28 in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... , and two others in Punjab 1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard 2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers 3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots.... during the past month. The Institute emphasized that during the past two months, 23 military operations aimed at clearing Lions of Islam have been conducted across Pakistain, resulting in at least 88 Lions of Islam and 18 security personnel killed in these operations. The institute noted that most of these attacks were carried out by krazed killer groups such as the "Baloch Liberation Army," "Tehrik-e-Taliban ![]() students... Pakistain," "ISIS Khorasan," Lashkar-e-Islam ...a group of Islamic bandidos infesting Khyber Agency. It was headed by a former bus driver and eventually folded into the TTP... , and the group "Hafiz Gul Bahadur ...a member of the Madda Khel clan of the Uthmanzai Waziris. Educated in a Deobandi madrassa located in Multan, he is affiliated with the Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) political party. Upon the formation of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in December 2007, he was announced as the group's overall naib amir under Baitullah Mehsud, who was based in South Wazoo, but has largely distanced himself from the TTP due to rivalries with the Mehsuds and disagreements about the TTP's attacks against the Pak state.. " in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. It urged Islamabad to develop an effective "anti-terrorism" strategy and enhance border security with Afghanistan and Iran. Earlier, the Institute had stated that nearly a thousand military and non-combatants were killed in "terrorist" attacks across the country in 2023. These developments underscore the ongoing challenge of terrorism in Pakistain, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to combat extremism and ensure national security. |

Terror-stricken Sikh community weary of its safety |
2023-04-05 |
Ferget it, bub — it’s Pakistan. [Dawn] While relatives and well wishers of slain Diyal Singh mourned his assassination, many of them said they now felt more insecure than before.Herjeet Singh, a young imitation jewellery dealer in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire... ’s Karkhano market told Dawn that his entire community was ’heart broken’ and terrorised by the killing of Diyal Singh whom he described as a ’harmless soul’. He said that minority community and especially Sikhs were feeling very insecure in Peshawar and surrounding localities as a minority person was killed after every seven or eight months with the security agencies failing to provide them much needed protection. Harjeet Singh’s family had migrated to Peshawar from Bara some 17 years back when Bara was under effective control of the proscribed Lashkar-e-Islam ![]() , led by Mangal Bagh ![]() He said that Diyal Singh had four children, including three sons and a daughter and he was the only breadwinner for his family. "Owing to his poor financial status, our community would hire him as watchman during festive occasions so that he could earn some extra money apart from his small herbal shop," he said. Malak Balendar Singh, a front man for Sikh community in Bara told Dawn that the grandfather of the dear departed migrated from Tirah some three decades back and settled down in Kalanga, Akkakhel area of Bara. He said that Diyal Singh was running his herbal shop in Bhatta Thal locality, adjacent to Bara Bazaar but had to shift to Muhallah Jogan Shah in Peshawar in May last year when two of his close relatives Ranjeet Singh and Kulgeet Singh were killed by unidentified button men. He said the dear departed was very concerned about the safety of his family and had thus shifted to Peshawar with the hope that he would be safe while living close to other Sikh families in Mohallah Jogan Shah. Jaspal Singh, another Sikh trader in Karkhano market, told Dawn that while majority of the Sikh families had long shifted to either Peshawar or other cities of the country, 29 Sikh shopkeepers were still running their small businesses in Bara while another 19 had their shops in Bhatta Thal market. He said none of these Sikh shopkeepers had residences in Bara or any other locality of Khyber as they come back to Peshawar in the evening. "Our relationship with the local community is very cordial and friendly but still we feel insecure as a number of the minority community members had fallen victims to assassination in recent past," he explained. He said hundreds of Sikh families previously residing in Tirah valley for over a century had now deserted their homes and had migrated to other comparatively safer places. He, however, added that Peshawar too had of late become ’very threatening’ place for his community and they were now seriously thinking of a ’mass migration’ to Punjab. |

How Pak is fooling the world by using its derivatives, The Resistence Front, Lashkar-e-Khalsa |

[OneIndia] An officer tells OneIndia that if one has noticed that groups such as the Lashkar-e-Tayiba or the Jaish-e-Mohammad have not claimed responsibility for any of the recent attacks in J&K. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... (J&K). These lesser known groups have been claiming credit for the recent attacks. However the Intelligence agencies have learnt that these are deliberate tactics adopted by Rawalpindi to divert attention. An officer tells OneIndia that if one has noticed that groups such as the Lashkar-e-Tayiba or the Jaish-e-Mohammad ...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. Taking into consideration the new tactic by Pakistain, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah directed the Jammu and Kashmir police as well as the security agencies to refrain from using names of new terror groups in the Union Territory. The are only derivatives of Pakistain based globally proscribed groups created by the ISI to spread the narrative of home grown terror in the Valley. The directive came after intelligence inputs suggested that the Pakistain groups such as the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad-Mohammad have not been taking credit for the attacks as they are under pressure from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) 'Imran Khan ...aka The Great Khan, who ain't the sharpest bulb on the national tree... 's mobile phones stolen after recording video threat''Imran Khan's mobile phones stolen after recording video threat' Since Pakistain continues to remain in the Grey List, the ISI has told its main terror groups to lie low. This is one of the main reasons why the main groups which continue to operate in the Valley have not grabbed credit for the attacks. Earlier this week a lesser known group called as the Lashkar-e-Islam ...a group of Islamic bandidos infesting Khyber Agency. It was headed by a former bus driver and eventually folded into the TTP... has threatened the Kashmir pandits to leave the Union Territory. Not a rare occurrence: India slams Pakistain over killing of 2 SikhsNot a rare occurrence: India slams Pakistain over killing of 2 Sikhs In a letter addressed to the president of the migrant colony the group has asked all migrant and RSS agents to leave or face death. The letter also said that there is no space for Kashmiri Pandits who want another Israel in Kashmir to kill Kashmiri Moslems. 'Double, triple your security, be ready for murder. You will die,' the letter also reads. The letter came days after the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit government employee, Rahul Bhat. He was rubbed out by gunnies in Budgam district. The attack took place at the Tehsildar's office in central Kashmir on Thursday afternoon. An Intelligence Bureau official tells OneIndia that this appears to be an off-shoot of the The Resistence Front, which is a proxy for the Lashkar-e-Tayiba. The Lashkar-e-Tayiba had created the The Resistence Front (The Resistence Front) which was the localised version of the group. Now with the heat high on the TRF, the name of the outfit has been changed, the official also said. |

UN recognizes threat to Pakistan by Afghan-based TTP, JuA terrorists |
2021-02-07 |
[DailyTimes.pk] A new United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... report has acknowledged the action taken by Pak government against individuals engaged in terrorist activities, adding that terrorist group Tehrik-e-Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... Pakistain (TTP) is responsible for over 100 cross-border attacks within three months last year. On its part, Pakistain has consistently highlighted the terrorism threat from the TTP. The 27th report to the United Nations Security Council, under the United Nations (UN) monitoring team that tracks Al Qaeda, Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... and other krazed killer groups, points to the arrests in Pakistain of ’individuals engaging in terrorism financing and the freezing of the assets of designated individuals and entities’. Diplomats noted that the UN acknowledgment of Pakistain actions comes at a time when India continues to blame Pakistain for inaction against the designated groups. Reporting on the activities of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP), the UN report saw the ’reunification of splinter groups (of TTP) that took place in Afghanistan’. The report records that ’five entities pledged alliance to TTP in July and August (2020), including the Shehryar Mehsud group, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, Hizb-ul-Ahrar, the Amjad Farooqi group and the Usman Saifullah group (formerly known as Lashkar-e- Jhangvi)’. The report cautions that the merger of TTP has enhanced the threat of terrorism to Pakistain and the region, as it has ’increased the strength of TTP and resulted in a sharp increase in attacks’. In this regard, the UN reported that ’TTP was responsible for more than 100 cross-border attacks between July and October 2020’. The report said that, based on estimates, the TTP’s fighting strength ranges between 2,500 and 6,000. Last year, Pakistain handed over a dossier to UN Secretary General António Guterres ![]() on the Indian sponsorship of TTP and JuA. Doctor who helped find Bin Laden ‘unwell’ in tiny cell |
2018-10-12 |
[AsiaTimes] Dr Shakil Afridi helped the CIA track down al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden but is considered a traitor in Pakistan. A new law will allow his conviction to be challenged in a higher court.![]() The doctor who helped the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) hunt down Osama Bin Laden – by running a fake vaccination campaign in 2011 – is being held in a high-security prison in Pakistan’s central Punjab, where he has reportedly been in very poor health. Sources among Dr Shakil Afridi’s family and his lead attorney have confirmed that the jail authorities do not allow his lawyers to meet him. The family is also not permitted to deliver everyday essentials to Afridi, who is incarcerated in a tiny cell just 1.5 square meters (5×5 ft) in size in a heavily fortified jail equipped with high-tech security. The prison in Sahiwal, where Dr Afridi is in solitary confinement, was built for dangerous and high profile prisoners from all over the country. It has an automatic locking system for each cell and state-of-the-art gadgetry including CCTV cameras, computers, delta barriers, jamming devices, walkthrough gates, and watchtowers. A five-layer security cover and round-the-clock patrolling by elite Police commandoes make it the most protected jail in Pakistan. His elder brother Jameel told Asia Times: “The facilities normally available to common prisoners under the jail manual are denied to Dr Afridi. The authorities gave me his soap, razor, towel, toothpaste, brushes, slippers, joggers, socks and vests last time I visited him in Sahiwal.” He said Shakil’s health was deteriorating in the small detention cell where mosquitoes buzz around at night. “They turned over his prayer beads and prayer mats and refused to allow these items in the cell. The jail authorities did not even allow hair dye, which I bought for him,” Jamal lamented. Last week, Pakistan’s newly appointed Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi was in New York for the United Nations General Assembly. During an interview with Fox News, he gave an assurance that the government was still considering whether to release Shakil Afridi. “He is viewed as a traitor in Pakistan but a friend in the US. So we have to bridge this gap,” Fox News quoted him as saying. He claimed that Dr Afridi had undergone a legal process in Pakistan and was given a fair chance to plead his case. “He was sentenced, convicted and [is] serving a sentence and we expect you would respect our legal process, as we respect yours,” Qureshi added. Qamar Nadeem, Dr Afridi’s lead attorney, said: “The frosty relations with the US cannot be normalized until Pakistan sympathetically reconsiders the plight of Afridi’s family, withdraws all cases against him and allows him to join his family as a free citizen.” He alluded to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s recent visit to Islamabad, saying the government would give a boost to US-Pakistan relations if Afridi was set free. “Whatever effort they make in trying to normalize the [bilateral] relationship will not be effective until a decision is taken to determine the fate of Dr Afridi.” The lawyer said Dr Afridi was convicted in a concocted case for helping the CIA locate Bin Laden, an act that Pakistani authorities believed was “treasonous.” He said the charge of funding, harboring, facilitating the Lashkar e-Islam terrorist group was a way to cover the anger of the establishment. “He is languishing in jail for years facing phony charges that were never substantiated at any stage of his protracted legal battle,” Nadeem claimed. |
