JUI-F leader among four injured in South Waziristan mosque blast

[GEO.TV] A blast tore through a mosque on Friday in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's South Wazoo district, leaving at least four people injured including district emir of Jamaat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), police said.

Abdullah Nadeem, a leader of the JUI-F, was believed to be the target of the blast and had been hospitalised with serious injures, said DPO Asif Bahadur, a district police chief in South Waziristan.

He added that two children were among the injured. It was not immediately clear who was behind the earth-shattering kaboom.

Attacks have been escalating in Pakistain's border regions with Afghanistan in recent months.

This was the last Friday congregation before Ramadan, drawing a large crowd of worshippers. The mosque is located inside the compound of the madrassa, whose students were set to go on leave, as it marked the final day of their academic year.

The sprawling campus is home to roughly 4,000 students who are fed, clothed and educated for free.

TLP vice emir 'arrested' for inciting violence against CJP Isa

[GEO.TV] Tehrik-e-Labbaik Pakistain (TLP) Vice Emir Pir Zaheerul Hasan Shah, who had gone in hiding in Okara, has been arrested after being booked for inciting violence against Chief Justice of Pakistain (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, sources told Geo News on Monday.

Shah's arrest comes after a case was lodged against him for a speech made during a protest rally outside the Lahore Press Club during a demonstration against the SC verdict in the Mubarak Sani case.

The case was lodged in Lahore's Qila Gujjar Sing cop shoppe on behalf of Station House Officer (SHO) Hammad Hussain against the TLP leader and 1,500 party workers for issuing death threats to the chief justice.

The FIR includes provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and those related to spreading religious hatred and anarchy, pressuring and threatening the higher judiciary, interference in state affairs, obstructing in performance of legal duties and others.

The opposition comes despite the clarification issued by the apex court on Friday which said that the court's verdict clearly states that no one can be a Moslem without having faith in the finality of prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (PTUI!).

'STATE WON'T ALLOW FATWAS CALLING FOR MURDER'
Earlier in the day, the federal government announced that it won't allow malicious propaganda against the CJP and will take strict action against those responsible for it.

"The state will not allow anyone to issue a fatwa calling for someone's murder," Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said in a presser in Islamabad.

Flanked by Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, the defence minister, while referring to the propaganda campaign hurled against the chief justice following the SC verdict in the Mubarak Sani case, said that an attempt is being made to use religion for bloodshed for vested political interests.

"There has been malicious propaganda about the chief justice and he has been targeted for a long time," said the federal minister.

He said that an attempt is being made to silence a voice which has set a tradition of speaking truth, reiterating that the law will take its course.

Asif further said that the state will now take action because CJP Isa has been targeted for a long time, adding that baseless accusations cannot be made against someone.

"There should be supremacy of Constitution in the country and justice should prevail. [The state] will not accept dictation aimed towards securing personal interests in the name of politics," he added.

[CHICAGO.CBSLOCAL] A 24-year-old man is being held on homicide charges, in a shooting at a Kenosha County bar that left three men dead and three others maimed on Sunday.

As CBS 2’s Jim Williams reported Monday, authorities said a stolen car led police to the suspect.

Rakayo Alandis Vinson of Racine, Wisconsin was arrested Sunday and charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide, according to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department. His bond was set at $4 million on Monday, and he is being held at the Kenosha County Jail.

FBI says FISA request forms will now ask whether target was government source

[Washington Examiner] One of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act reforms undertaken by the FBI is implementing more stringent requirements for asking whether a possible target has been a source for the U.S. government.

The change was revealed following a related guilty plea in U.S. Attorney John Durham’s inquiry into the Russia investigation.

Dawn Browning, the acting general counsel for the FBI since July, submitted a declaration to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court that was made public Monday. The filing said that updated FISA request forms, specifically related to requests for business records and the use of pen register and trap and trace devices, "include a number of improvements," including "questions about whether the target or subject of the request was previously interviewed by, or served as a confidential human source, asset, or operational contact of, the FBI, any other government agency, or a foreign government."

Durham collected his first guilty plea on Wednesday from former FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who admitted to a false statements charge for altering a CIA email in 2017 that helped justify the continued FISA wiretapping of onetime Trump campaign aide Carter Page by fraudulently adding that Page was "not a source" for the agency, when the CIA had actually told Clinesmith and the bureau on multiple occasions that Page was an "operational contact" for them.

Browning argued in the court filings that "the FBI remains committed to ensuring that FISA applications it submits to this Court are accurate and complete." The FBI’s top lawyer said the bureau’s new request and verification forms, once implemented, will "require case agents and their supervisors to affirm the accuracy and completeness" of their FISA application.

Clinesmith, 38, who worked on the investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s private email server as well as on the FBI’s Crossfire Hurricane inquiry and special counsel Robert Mueller’s team during the Trump-Russia inquiry, admitted that he falsified a document during a court hearing last week after Durham had submitted a five-page criminal information filing to the federal court noting Clinesmith was being charged.

In a scathing July 2018 inspector general report on the FBI's Clinton emails investigation, Clinesmith was mentioned, but not by name, numerous times as one of the FBI officials who conveyed a possible bias against President Trump, including lamenting that “my god damned name is all over the legal documents investigating [Trump’s] staff” and proclaiming “Viva le resistance" after Trump's win.

DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz made it clear in a December report that this specific FISA flaw went beyond just Clinesmith, noting that the FBI’s “failure to provide accurate and complete information” to the Justice Department’s Office of Intelligence on Page's prior relationship with the CIA was “particularly concerning because” the DOJ attorney handling the case “had specifically asked the case agent in late September 2016 whether Carter Page had a current or prior relationship with the other agency” and had been told Page’s relationship was “dated.” But Horowitz said this was “contrary to information that the other agency had provided to the FBI in August 2016, which stated that Page was approved as an ‘operational contact’ of the other agency from 2008 to 2013.”

Horowitz said that “Page's status with the other agency overlapped in time with some of the interactions between Page and known Russian intelligence officers that were relied upon in the FISA applications to establish probable cause” and noted that “Page had provided information to the other agency about his past contacts with a Russian Intelligence Officer, which were among the historical connections to Russian intelligence officers that the FBI relied upon in the first FISA application (and subsequent renewal applications).” Horowitz said the other agency “assessed that Page ‘candidly described his contact with’ Intelligence Officer 1 to the other agency” but that “the FBI relied upon Page's contacts with Intelligence Officer 1, among others, in support of its probable cause statement in the FISA application."

Study Reveals Most Millennials Don't Have Kids Because Their Parents Can't Afford It

[Babylon Bee] U.S.‐A new study from JAMA Pediatrics found that most millennials choose not to have kids because their parents just can’t afford it right now.

The study followed 900 millennials nationwide, just under half of which had full-time jobs. 90 percent were completely reliant on their parents for financial support, and three-quarters of these financially dependent adults want to have children someday.

There’s only one problem: parents of millennials can’t afford to support both their children, and their grandchildren anymore. This troubling reality has been stressing out millennials from coast to coast. Unfortunately, many boomer parents had children without preparing themselves financially to raise multiple generations and spend more and more money the older they got. Now their millenial children are paying the price for their lack of foresight.

"I just can’t take it anymore," said Gretchen Hillerman, a millennial from southern California. "It’s like, I know I’m fit to raise a child, I just can’t afford it," she complained during an interview at a local Starbucks. "Apparently my parents can’t afford it either. College was, like, super expensive, and they're still paying off my student loan. I wish my mom would just get a second job or something." Gretchen says she had big plans to not reveal the child's gender and to name them something nonbinary like Threshgar.

Gretchen studied Gender Non-Binary Statistics at Northridge, but dropped out after six years in the program. Her parents said they helped her every night with homework, but it didn’t seem to improve her performance.

While many of today's Gen X and boomer parents strongly desire grandchildren, they say they just can't imagine supporting more children on top of all the concert tickets, Starbucks, European vacations, seafaring voyages around the world, the latest iPhone, dolphin rides, avocado toast, battery-powered sports cars, and VR headsets.

"You also have to take retirement into account," said Gretchen's father Ron Hillerman. "I mean my daughter's retirement. I already cashed mine out to pay for her forty-day vegan yoga hot spring hike in India."

The Merkava Tank Is Why No Army Wants To Mess With Israel

In the past forty years, just a handful of countries have proved themselves capable of building their own main battle tanks. One of these tank powers is actually one of the smallest countries in the world: Israel. Israel’s main battle tank, the Merkava series, is one of the best-designed tanks ever produced.

Israel’s independence in 1948 saw the formation of the Israeli Defense Forces, and the IDF cobbled together a modest, ramshackle tank force to repel attacks from neighboring Arab countries. By the 1956 war the situation had improved considerably, and by 1967 Israel’s Armored Corps basically won the Six-Day War with a blitz across the Sinai Peninsula and into the Golan Heights. The tanks, American M48 and British Centurion tanks, crushed the opposition and brought a quick end to the war.

Israel’s pre-emptive attack on its neighbors was not popular with some of its European allies. The United Kingdom cancelled a joint tank-development project with Israel. France embargoed further deliveries of Mirage fighter jets and missile boats. The lesson for Israel was to decrease its reliance on foreign powers for its armaments, and in 1970 the IDF began to develop a tank of its own.

The job of making an Israeli tank a reality fell to Maj. Gen. Israel Tal, former commander of the IDF Armored Corps and who led the Eighty-Fourth Armored Division to victory in the Sinai. Tal’s project was a major challenge, as Israel’s military-industrial complex was in its infancy and the country had never built a large armored vehicle before. Working from a clean sheet, Tal could build a tank from the ground up with Israel’s tank-warfare experiences baked in.

Three attributes define a modern tank: firepower (the main gun), mobility (speed and cross-country operation) and protection (armor). Some tank-building countries emphasize one or two attributes over the other. In Israel’s case, Tal prioritized protection over all else. Israel’s small size meant that it felt even modest wartime deaths acutely, and an emphasis on protection would keep personnel losses down.

Unsung Hero: Admiral Mike Rogers, Obama's NSA Chief, Discovered Administration's ‘702' Illegal Spying Operation and Briefed Trump About Surveillance of Trump Tower

[Red State] I once posted about an Obama administration official who actually had integrity, a man who noticed that something was amiss and acted. It was this man who traveled to Trump Tower on November 17, 2016, to brief then-President-elect Donald Trump that communications from the building were being tapped. He did not notify his superior, then-Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, beforehand. This man’s name is Mike Rogers. He served as the head of the National Security Agency (NSA).

But Rogers’ role went beyond informing Trump about the surveillance being conducted at Trump Tower.

A couple of years earlier, Rogers discovered that American citizens were being spied upon and drew attention to the abuse of Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act by the Obama administration. According to former U.S. Attorney Joe DiGenova, Section 702 allows the government to essentially weaponize the NSA’s ability to collect data and surveil private U.S. citizens. In light of IG Horowitz’s report, this man’s story becomes even more relevant.

Rights activist Idris Khattak abducted by unidentified men at Swabi Interchange, says driver

[DAWN] Rights activist Idris Khattak was allegedly kidnapped by faceless myrmidons while on his way from Akora Khattak village to Swabi, his driver Shahsawar told police, DawnNewsTV reported on Monday.

In a complaint filed in Anbar cop shoppe, Shahsawar said that he was driving Khattak to Swabi when about four faceless myrmidons stopped the activist's car at Swabi Motorway Interchange and kidnapped him. The incident took place on November 13, according to the complaint. Though complaints have been lodged by Khattak's driver and family, police are yet to register a first information report (FIR).

Officials did confirm that Khattak was missing but said an FIR will be lodged after an initial investigation.

Judicial Watch: Records Obtained in Court-Ordered Discovery Reveal Obama White House Tracking FOIA Request for Clinton Emails

[Judicial Watch] Washington, DC - Judicial Watch announced today that it obtained 44 pages of records from the State Department through court-ordered discovery revealing that the Obama White House was tracking a December 2012 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking records concerning then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of an unsecure, non-government email system. Months after the Obama White House involvement, the State Department responded to the requestor, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), falsely stating that no such records existed.

Judicial Watch’s discovery is centered upon whether Clinton intentionally attempted to evade the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by using a non-government email system and whether the State Department acted in bad faith in processing Judicial Watch’s FOIA request for communications from Clinton’s office. U.S District Court Judge Royce Lamberth ordered Obama administration senior State Department officials, lawyers, and Clinton aides, as well as E.W. Priestap, to be deposed or answer written questions under oath. The court ruled that the Clinton email system was "one of the gravest modern offenses to government transparency."

The State Department’s Office of Inspector General issued a report in January 2016 saying "At the time the request was received, dozens of senior officials throughout the Department, including members of Secretary Clinton’s immediate staff, exchanged emails with the Secretary using the personal accounts she used to conduct official business." Also, the IG "found evidence that [Clinton Chief of Staff Cheryl Mills] was informed of the request at the time it was received ..."

The State Department produced records in response to court-ordered document requests that detail Obama White House involvement in the Clinton email FOIA request.

This sobriquet is, of course, well earned, as the madressah has been churning out fighters since the days of the Afghan jihad, while it counts members of the Afghan Taliban

As reported in this paper on Wednesday, the KP government has diverted Rs30m meant for higher secondary schools and given them to the Haqqania madressah. This would be the third time the KP administration has showered its munificence on the seminary; in the 2016-17 budget, it had allocated a whopping Rs300m, while in February, Rs277m were reportedly allocated to the Haqqania madressah.
