[TimesOfIndia] Sky News has traced social media accounts expressing support for jihadist terrorist groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba ...the Army of the Pure,an Ahl-e-Hadith terror organization founded by Hafiz Saeed. LeT masquerades behind the Jamaat-ud-Dawa facade within Pakistain and periodically blows things up and kills people in India. Despite the fact that it is banned, always an interesting concept in Pakistain, the organization remains an blatant tool and perhaps an arm of the ISI...> (LeT) and al-Qaeda to the exact location of the building in Muridke, Pakistain, which was struck by India last week in retaliation for the Pahalgam terrorist attack. A Sky News forensics and data team geolocated to Markaz Taiba in Muridke multiple videos on TikTok, YouTube and Google which express support for the LeT and "313", referring to the 313 Brigade, al-Qaeda's military wing in Pakistain. The videos were posted before India blew the complex up last week. The channel confirmed the video locations using satellite imagery in and around the complex. According to Stanford University's mapping ![]() and allied jihadist groups, such as Lashkar-e-Jhangvi ![]() , Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami, LeT and Jaish-e-Muhammed . 313 Brigade has been behind many high-profile attacks and bombings inside Pakistain. Captions, hashtags and usernames posting these videos express support for either or both the LeT and "313". One video shows a man with a gun and the username states: "Lashkar Taiba - Markaz Taiba Muridke - 313 Bhai Group - Mujahid Force PK". A TikTok video with the text "313" is captioned "bring your arms and ammunition and go to war". Muskan Sangwan, senior intelligence analyst at TRAC, a terrorism research consortium, said: "These young men posing with rifles are using 313 label as a badge for jihadist identity," which, she said, would help with recruitment. One video with the hashtag "313 jihad" shows children practising sword-fighting inside the mosque, with the caption "We are little soldiers, and we fight the non-believers". The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) told Sky News: "It has been known for decades that LeT has its headquarters in Muridke." Pakistain-based Resistance® Front, an LeT proxy, initially grabbed credit for the Pahalgam attack. Khawaja Asif, Pakistain's defence minister, said: "This appears to be a random video with background music added later - consistent with how TikTok trends often function. If this is to be considered credible evidence, we could produce millions of similar clips ourselves." 'The people who control the country.' How Afghanistan has changed under the Taliban | ||||||||||||||||||
2024-05-31 | ||||||||||||||||||
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited. by Kirill Semeov
“There are problems in Afghanistan, they are undeniable, everyone is well aware of them. The question of how to build relationships with the current government is another question. But we have to build it somehow, these are the people who control the country, control the territory of the country. They are the power in Afghanistan today,” the Russian President said. A day earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also made it clear that Russia is going to remove the Taliban from the list of terrorists, on which it is still included. “Kazakhstan recently made a decision, which we are also going to make, to remove them from the list of terrorist organizations. Moreover, the UN Security Council did not declare the Taliban as a terrorist organization.
Initially, the Taliban came under international sanctions and were included in terrorist lists not so much because of their own actions, but because of their support for other terrorist organizations. For example, Al-Qaeda, whose representatives received asylum in Afghanistan.
The Taliban, unlike Al-Qaeda and ISIS, have never advocated the dismantling of the world order and “global jihad.”
At the moment, it has also become obvious that all concerns about the hypothetical expansion of the Taliban into neighboring countries have remained at the level of speculation and speculation. The Taliban movement has demonstrated in practice that it intends to build good neighborly relations with all its neighbors.
As political scientist and orientalist Mir-Ali Askerov, who recently returned from Afghanistan, told IA Regnum, “there has never been a situation in which, when you say that you are from Russia, it causes some kind of negativity, that is, it either causes at least something neutral, positive, or strictly positive attitude. The Afghans express their gratitude for the fact that you visited their country and, in general, offer their help there in every possible way.”
As Russian officials have rightly noted, the Taliban are making good progress in nation-building. Although the country has serious economic problems and terrorist groups continue to operate, the risk of political and economic collapse is assessed as minimal, and the country has also managed to overcome crime and make the lives of citizens safer. According to Askerov, the crime situation has become much better than during the reign of Ashraf Ghani and the Americans, and during that period he also had the opportunity to visit Afghanistan. “ You can now walk around Kabul at night, during the day, at any time of the day and in any area, it is absolutely safe. The only problem is pickpockets, but this is only a problem of large markets,” said the orientalist.
“Of course, there are many guards and checkpoints in the city, but they do not create the impression of a police state, as during the American presence with rough searches and searches of everyone. On the streets you can also see employees of the ministry of “commanding what is good and prohibiting what is bad” (morality police), but they act unobtrusively, politely and rather try to explain or explain something rather than prohibit and detain, so this does not cause any rejection or conflicts,” Askerov noted.
“The population perceives current changes positively and looks to the future with hope. But, of course, Afghans live poorly, and even the wealthiest live very modestly by our standards; economic problems have not gone away.” Nevertheless, the Taliban still managed to somewhat stabilize the economy. Afghanistan's foreign trade fell after they seized power. However, despite the decline in imports, most of the country's income now comes from taxes. As experts note, the Afghan economy is no longer in a state of free fall and appears to be frozen in a precarious balance, albeit at the lowest level. Modest positive trends include lower inflation, exchange rate stability, some recovery in imports, a more than doubling of exports,
Of course, the problem of Afghan drug trafficking remains.
Thus, according to a 2023 UN report, poppy cultivation in southern Afghanistan fell by more than 80% as a result of Taliban campaigns to stop its use in opium production. For example, the decline in poppy cultivation in Helmand province has dropped by 99%. In November 2023, a UN report found that throughout Afghanistan, poppy cultivation had fallen by more than 95%, depriving the country of its status as the world's largest opium producer.
"RED TROOPS" An important factor in recognizing the Taliban and removing terrorist labels from the movement is its success in suppressing the activity and presence of international terrorist organizations such as ISIS and al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. It is significant that the Americans, who spent 20 years trying to eradicate the brainchild of Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan, were forced to recognize this success. But as soon as they left, the Taliban themselves solved this problem. In particular, as Christy Abizaid, director of the US National Counterterrorism Center, stated on September 11, 2023, "al-Qaeda is in its historic decline in Afghanistan and Pakistan and its resurgence is unlikely." She also cited declassified data that the group had "lost access to targets, leadership talent, group cohesion, grassroots commitment, and supportive local environment." She said the terrorist organization's ability to threaten from Afghanistan " is at its lowest level" since it moved there in 1998. The Taliban were also able to suppress the activity of ISIS and its local affiliate ISIS-K in Afghanistan.
Their activities were dealt a blow, and activity over the past year has decreased significantly, which was noted in the relevant reports of international structures. It is noted that the Taliban were able to conduct a successful campaign against ISIS-X and eliminated most of the sleeper cells that were ready to continue terrorist attacks in Afghan cities. After a surge in the number of terrorist attacks in the first months after the Taliban came to power, their number begins to decline as a result of counter-terrorism measures by the IEA security structures. In particular, in 2022–2023. the number of terrorist attacks and other attacks by ISIS-X has decreased significantly. If in the first year of Taliban rule (2021-2022) there were 314 attacks and assaults, then in 2022-2023. only 69 - that is, less than during any period of activity of the group in Afghanistan since its inception. The Taliban’s fight against ISIS is systematic and consistent; for this purpose, special counter-terrorism forces have been created in Afghanistan that can effectively counter it. This counter-terrorism unit is called "Red Squad", or "Sara Kheta" in Pashto.
It was the “Red Detachments” that defeated the ISIS in the province of Nangarhar, which was a stronghold of terrorists. After which part of the “Red Detachment” battalions was transferred to the province of Kunar, which was soon also cleared of ISIS militants. Of course, it is too early to talk about a complete victory over ISIS in Afghanistan. But a significant decrease in terrorist activity allows the Taliban movement to establish economic ties with foreign partners and organize business trips to this country. Therefore, Russia, acting proactively, can economically enter Afghanistan before others, officially recognizing the Taliban movement as the legitimate Afghan government. Before this, there were many factors that forced our entrepreneurs to act with caution in Afghanistan, including the fear of persecution for justifying and financing terrorism. By removing the Taliban from the terrorist lists, Moscow can speed up the implementation of economic projects in Afghanistan and begin absolutely legal, not “gray” investments. Man who provided ‘shelter’ to Poonch attackers for two months detained |
2023-04-27 |
As a first substantial breakthrough in the Poonch ambush probe, security forces zeroed-in on a man, who allegedly provided ’shelter’ and ’support’ to the bully boyz for at-least two months before they carried out April 20 attack that claimed the lives of five soldiers. Meanwhile, ...back at the shootout, Butch shot Black Bart's knife out of his hand...... the search operation to track down the ultras entered the sixth day. News Observer (KNO), that following leads and cross checking the statements of 50 detainees in the case, forces zeroed-in on one Nasir, a local, for his involvement in sheltering and supporting the bully boyz for more than two months, before executing the ambush in Tota Gali, Bhata Dhurian in Bhimbir Gali Secto, Mender Poonch. Army Commander Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi visited the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and took stock of the ongoing operation, the officials said, adding he asked the troops to be relentless in their pursuit. This was Army commander’s second visit in the region in less than a week. Five Army personnel were killed, and another was maimed after their vehicle was attacked by bully boyz in Poonch last Thursday. A massive search and cordon operation was launched after the attack and it has now spread to 12 areas across the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri. Sources claimed that after sustained questioning and cross checking the statements a local, Nasir confessed his involvement and told Sherlocks that he sheltered the bully boyz at his house for more than two months and "provided them logistic and material support." "Some of the detainees were let off after questioning," they said. Special Forces are also engaged in the search operation, the sources said, adding the agencies are backed by drones, sniffer dogs and metal detectors. A large spread of forest areas, deep gorges, natural caves and dense growths have been searched and the operation is now covering other places, they said. Meanwhile, ...back at the shootout, Butch shot Black Bart's knife out of his hand...... a balloon from across the border was noticed in Jhalas area of Poonch, they said. Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi took stock of the search operation which entered its sixth day on Wednesday. "He interacted with the troops deployed in remote areas and exhorted them to be innovative and relentless in their pursuit," the northern command tweeted. This was the second visit of the army commander to the border districts within five days. Earlier on April 22, Lt Gen Dwivedi had visited the attack site at Bhata Dhurian, a notorious infiltration route for bully boyz from across the Line of Control because of its topography, dense forest cover and natural caves. Sources had earlier said seven to eight bully boyz spread in two groups are believed have engineered the attack. According to initial investigation, the bully boyz reportedly hid themselves in a culvert on the road from where they launched the attack on the truck which was carrying fruits, vegetables and other items to Sangiote village from the Bhimber Gali camp for Iftar to be organised by the Rashtriya Rifles. Over 50 bullet marks were spotted on the vehicle that shows intensity of the firing by terrorists, the sources said. The troops involved in the operation are exercising utmost caution as the bully boyz may have planted improvised bombs (IEDs) in the densely forested area with deep gorges and caves, they added. The slain soldiers were from a Rashtriya Rifles unit deployed for counter-terror operations. Experts from various agencies including the National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have visited the site of the attack, the officials said. They said a sniper is believed to have targeted the vehicle from the front before his associates showered bullets and lobbed grenades on the vehicle from opposite sides, apparently giving the troops no time to retaliate. "The bully boyz used steel coated bullets that can penetrate an armoured shield," they said adding, "Before fleeing, the bully boyz stole the soldiers’ arms and ammunition." The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there.... 's Poonch killing five personnel last week, officials said on Sunday. Necessary action is being taken against the holy warriors responsible for the deadly attack, the Army's Northern Commander Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi said during an interaction with the personnel who survived the ambush in the dense forest area of Bhata Dhurian on Thursday. A stretch of the Jammu-Poonch national highway which was closed following the ambush was reopened for vehicular traffic on Sunday. In a tweet on its official handle, the Army's Northern Command shared Lt Gen Dwivedi's visit to the Command Hospital in Udhampur and interaction with the survivor. "Dwivedi interacted with the survivor...and assured that necessary action is underway," it tweeted along with two pictures of the soldier. Five soldiers were killed and one was injured after the holy warriors attacked the lone Army truck, which was carrying eatables for iftar to a nearby village. The Army's northern commander visited the attack site on Saturday. The Bhata Dhurian forest area has for long remained a preferred infiltration route for holy warriors from across the Line of Control because of its topography, dense forest cover and natural caves. Dwivedi reviewed the security in the border area and the ongoing combing operation to track down the terrorists. "Among those rounded up are two couples from Degwar in Poonch -- Iqbal and his wife Mudifa and Salam Din and his wife Rashida," an official source said, adding further investigation was underway. The slain soldiers were from a Rashtriya Rifles unit deployed for counter-terror operations. Sources earlier said the attack was suspected to have been carried out by a group of three to four terrorists. The attackers possibly spent more than a year in Rajouri and Poonch and had adequate knowledge of the terrain, they added. The Jammu and Kashmir Gaznavi Force (JKGF) is said to be active in the area and its "commander", Rafiq Ahmed alias Rafiq Nayi, hails from the region. Currently, three-four terrorist groups are active in the region of Rajouri and Poonch, the sources said. The holy warriors who ambushed the Army truck used steel core bullets, capable of piercing an armoured shield, and decamped with the soldiers' weapons, officials said on Sunday. They said a sniper is believed to have targeted the truck from the front before the other holy warriors sprayed bullets and lobbed grenades on it. Experts from various agencies, including the National Security Guard (NSG) and the National Investigation Agency (NIA), have visited the site of the attack over the past two days and have managed to get a clear picture of the bushwhack which was laid by the terrorists, the officials said. Meanwhile, ...back at the pond, the radioactive tadpoles grown into frogs. Really big frogs, in fact... members of the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities on Sunday visited an Army unit in the Akhnoor sector here to express their solidarity with the forces. Mohd Akram, who was leading the 113-member-strong community delegation, appealed to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to provide free hand to the Army in tackling the threat of cross-border terrorism. "We moved from Banihal tehsil in Ramban district to Akhnoor some 25 years back when militancy was at its peak and it was the Army which provided relief to us and ensured that we did not face any problem. We strongly condemn the attack on the troops and our community stands with our soldiers," Akram told news hounds. He said the holy warriors are working at the behest of Pakistain to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir and should be dealt with sternly. "We request the defence minister to provide a free hand to the Army to tackle with terrorism," he said. A defence front man thanked the community for its concern and said the Gujjars and Bakkarwals are one of the most victimised communities of Pakistain's state-sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir since the early 90s. "The community has suffered at length, frequently at the cost of precious lives and property at the hands of holy warriors supported from across the border. These valiant nomadic people have supported the Indian Army in counter insurgency and counter terrorism operations with great courage and conviction," the front man said. The security agencies are finding it hard to find the seven hard boyz of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba as they may have escaped through the dense forests. The attack site is 7 kilometres from the Bhimber Ghali at the Line of Control (LoC), which is a thickly forested belt on the Indian side of the LoC. Sources tell OneIndia that this was a well planned attack and the hard boyz were aware that post the hit, they would easily escape into the forest area. The intent, the source said was to create panic and unrest ahead of the G20 meetings slated to be held in Jammu and Kashmir ![]() Azad (Free) Kashmir. The investigations have also shown that the Army vehicle was attacked from three sides. The Intelligence Bureau has learnt that of the seven terrorists, 3 were from Pakistain. They had crossed over from Pakistain and had hidden in the dense forests, the Intelligence had also found. A bigwig said that this is a deliberate attack planned by Pakistain. This has been done to instigate violence in Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistain has been plotting several such strikes since the abrogation of Article 370, which removed the special status granted to J&K. The third G20 tourism meet is scheduled to be held in the third week of of May in Srinagar. Pakistain has objected to this. Furthermore the attack came on a day when Pakistain had announced that its foreign minister, Bilawal Bhutto would be visiting India to attend the summit. The hard boyz used rocket-propelled grenades and assault rifles against the Rashtriya Rifle jawans who were travelling in a truck. The initial probe suggests that the truck caught fire due to a direct rocket-propelled grenade hit. The probe is also ascertaining if the hard boyz had set the truck ablaze. Probe agencies ascertain original source of bullets used in Poonch attack [OneIndia] The bullets that were used by the terrorists to attack an Army vehicle in Poonch, in which five jawans were killed, were left behind by the US troops in Afghanistan following the fall of the US-backed government in August 2021. According to the investigation, a sniper is said to have targeted the truck from the front before two other terrorists sprayed bullets and lobbed grenades. The probe is also trying to ascertain if the steel core bullets used by the terrorists in targeting the Army truck were made in China or in the United States. Such bullets were left by the US troops in Afghanistan while leaving Kabul. They are said to have fallen into the hands of the Taliban, which in turn could have been diverted to the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad. According to additional DGP, Jammu, Mukesh Singh, the use of Chinese made-steep core bullets used in the attack is under investigation. Probe finds Lashkar carried out Poonch strike which killed 5 jawansProbe finds Lashkar carried out Poonch strike which killed 5 jawans "The attack was carried out by two to three terrorists who are believed to be Pakistanis. We can't speak about the involvement of locals at this stage," Singh also said. "Massive search operations are on in Bhatta Durrian forests backed by the intelligence agencies, to track down the terrorists involved in the attack. The operations are being coordinated regularly by top officials," Singh said. A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is camping in Poonch. The forensics team is also looking into the issue. In all probability the NIA will take over the probe soon. Sources tell OneIndia that while the investigation is underway, a majority of the resources are being used to track down the terrorists who may have escaped into the dense forests. |

NIA’s pan-India raid unearths deadly Khalistan-Gangster nexus |
2023-02-25 |
[OneIndia] In the recent nationwide crackdown by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) at 76 locations across eight states, six associated of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi have been arrested. The NIA also arrested associates of Goldy Brar and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. The arrested persons include Lucky Kokar, an associate of Canada based terrorist, Arsh Dalla. The raids were carried out in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, NCR, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. Kokar was nabbed from Rajasthan on Tuesday. The NIA learnt that he was in direct contact with Arsh Dalla in Canada. It was on the instructions of Dala that Kokar had carried out recent killings in Jagraon, Punjab. The NIA said that Kokar was working for Dalla, who is notorious for smuggling arms, ammunitions, IEDs among others. The arms and ammunition were being smuggled into India to revive the Khalistan movement, the NIA has learnt. These elements were also raising funds, recruiting youth and carrying out terror attacks on behalf of the Bishnoi gang, the NIA said. The NIA had last year registered cases in this regard. Since the case has been registered four massive raids have been carried out by the agency. It was also learnt that Pakistain's ISI was playing a crucial role in these incidents. The main aim of the ISI is to revive the Khalistan movement and hence was using the gangsters based abroad to carry out such incidents. The ISI had even handpicked one Harvinder Singh Rinda, a gangster turned terrorist based in Pakistain to oversee this network. During the raids, the NIA also arrested Hari Om alias Titu, Lakhvi Singh. Nine weapons were recovered from Lakhvir. More such raids are on the anvil as the NIA is looking to completely dismantle this network. These raids are crucial as the Khalistan elements pose a huge threat to India. Their networks abroad are in particular worrisome and attempts are being made galore to revive the Khalistan movement.
