The appointment came after the arrest of the previous commander of the organization Gulzar Imam by the Mighty Pak Army. The founder and head of the outlawed murderous Moslem organization Baloch National Army (BNA), Gulzar Imam, Aka Shambay, was arrested by Pakistain’s Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) on April 7. In a statement, the military’s media wing described his arrest as a significant counterterrorism success. "The arrest of Gulzar Imam Shambay is a serious blow to BNA and other murderous Moslem groups, which have been attempting to destabilize the hard-earned peace in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. According to the ISPR statement, four "wanted terrorists" belonging to the outlawed Baloch Republican Army (BRA) and the United Baloch Army (UBA) were killed during the operations, while 24 others were apprehended. Among those killed were Thango and Keleri of the BRA, the ISPR said. According to the statement, they were involved in the abduction of civilians and responsible for attacks on law enforcement personnel. The two other suspected bully boyz killed were identified as Muhammad Khan and Jalal Deen ─ both members of the UBA. According to the ISPR, they were involved in bombing railway lines, the planting of improvised bombs and destroying power lines. Among the 24 suspects apprehended by the FC personnel was Samiullah, a resident of Dera Murad Jamali who, the ISPR statement said, was a jacket wallah linked to the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi ... a 'more violent' offshoot of Sipah-e-Sahaba Pakistain. The raids in Balochistan were carried out as part of Operation Raddul Fasaad, which the army had launched in February in the aftermath of a fresh resurgence in terror attacks in Pakistain. |

434 militants surrender in Balochistan |

As part of political reconciliation in Balochistan, 434 militants surrendered to the authorities on Friday evening. The militants belonged to various banned organisations, including Baloch Republican Army (BRA), Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and other groups. The militants were allegedly involved in attacks on government installations in Quetta, Dera Bugti, Sui and other parts of the province. “Innocent people have been used and elements instigating them were living abroad,” said Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Zehri. “Innocent people were martyred at the behest of elements who are the slaves of RAW and no compromise would be made over the writ of the government,” added the chief minister. Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Amir Riaz on the occasion said that Pakistan cannot be weakened. “Anyone laying down their arms would be welcomed,” added Riaz. “We were deceived,” said Sher Mohammad, a key commander of the proscribed BLA, while Dur Khan Baloch, another key commander, said they will “no longer fight for the Indians”. A senior provincial official said so far over 1500 militants have surrendered. “More Ferraris would surrender before the authorities in the days to come, said Balochistan government spokesperson Anwarul Haq Kakar. The surrender ceremony was attended by senior military and civilians leaders. The largest province of the country by area, is home to a low-level insurgency by ethnic Baloch separatists. Al Qaeda-linked militants also operate in the region. The province shares borders with Afghanistan and Iran. |

According to officials, the banned Baloch Republican Army (BRA) ‘commanders’ Wali Hotkani, Abdul Qadir and Imam Bakhsh handed over their weapons along with the other militants to Frontier Corps officers at a ceremony held in Sui town. Officials, a large number of tribal elders and other people attended the ceremony. “We have decided to abandon the armed struggle and join the mainstream to serve our people who have been facing great difficulties for a long time,” Imam Bakhsh said, adding that his group had long been operating in the area. |

[Dawn] GWADAR: Two suspected militants were killed and another was wounded in an operation carried out by security forces in the mountainous area of Prome in Panjgur district on Tuesday. A helicopter provided cover to the forces conducting the operation. According to sources, an intelligence agency informed security forces about the existence in Kanti Klug area of a camp being run by the banned Baloch Republican Army. Security forces started the operation which led to a gunbattle between troops and militants, an official said. During the exchange of fire lasting several hours, two suspected militants were killed and another was wounded and taken into custody. Arms and ammunition, including three Kalashnikovs, five 7mm rifles, hundreds of live rounds and two pistols and wireless sets and motorcycles were seized from the camp which was destroyed by security forces. The arrested suspect is being interrogated by special investigation teams. |

Four suspected Lions of Islam were killed during an exchange of fire in Kohlu district in the evening, while there suspects, including a key commander of the outlawed Baloch Republican Army (BRA), were killed in Kech district earlier in the day. The front man for Frontier Constabulary, Khan Wasey, said the miscreants killed in Kohlu district belonged to an outlawed murderous Moslem organization operating in the area. Two suspects were maimed during exchange of fire. He said five sanctuaries were also demolished during the search operation in the aftermath of the killings. A cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the possession of suspected murderous Moslems, said Wasey. Earlier, the security forces acted on a tip-off regarding the presence of Lions of Islam in Dasht area of district Kech and killed three miscreants belonging to the BRA. Wasey said a key murderous Moslem commander of the banned outfit was also among the dead and added that security forces had also recovered weapons from their possession. The front man further said the Lions of Islam were involved in killings of labourers working at Shadi Kor Dam. |

9 ‘militants’ killed in Balochistan clashes |

QUETTA: Nine suspected militants and two security personnel were killed in gunbattles in Kech and Kalat districts early on Wednesday, official sources said. A six-year-old girl also lost her life in Kech, apparently in crossfire. The clashes started between the Frontier Corps and militants when security personnel came under attack in Bal-Nagore area of Kech district, resulting in the killing of two troops. A heavy exchange of fire continued for hours. “Eight militants have been killed in the gunbattle,” the FC spokesman said. “Two FC soldiers have also lost their lives,” he said and claimed that Abdul Ghani, brother of a leader of the banned Baloch Republican Army Mama Bugti, was among the dead. He claimed that the area had been cleared and a checkpost had been set up there to keep an eye on suspicious movements. He said that a search operation was under way in the area. In the other clash, a leader of the banned Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) was killed in Bencha area of Kalat district. According to the FC spokesman, troops were combing the area on the basis of intelligence that militants wanted for their involvement in various subversion activities were present there. During the search, an exchange of fire took place between security forces and militants, resulting in the killing of the BLF leader. His identity was not disclosed. A large quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from Bencha and Bal-Nagore areas. In a separate action, the FC personnel also seized ammunition from an area of Mastung. Our Correspondent in Gwadar adds: Bodies of five suspected militants who had been killed in Bal-Nagore were brought to hospital. Four of them were identified as Altaf, a resident of Bal-Nagore; Dad Jan, a resident of Darmakol Pedarak; Balaach, a resident of Syedan Bal-Nagore; and Faqeer Bugti. The murderous Moslems, who were using an infrequent route to enter the city, opened fire on the personnel and tried to escape. The FC front man said the troops cordoned off the area and launched an operation. A heavy exchange of fire took place which continued for three fours. "Four armed murderous Moslems, including their commander, were killed," the front man said, adding that a soldier was injured. "The gunnies killed were coming from Mastung to carry out attacks on security forces in Quetta," he claimed. He said they were involved in suicide kabooms in Hazara town and attacks on convoys of Shia pilgrims and security forces in Quetta and other areas. |
