NYC gunman held on $1M bail after allegedly shooting innocent bystander on UES subway car
[NYPOST] A Manhattan judge Monday ordered a man held on $1 million bail for allegedly opening fire on a crowded Upper East Side subway car, striking an innocent bystander.

Steven Sylvester, 34, faces an attempted murder charge after allegedly shooting at a 35-year-old good Samaritan that had tried to break up a fight between the suspect and his girlfriend on a northbound 4 train as it approached 86th St. at 2:30 a.m. on June 2nd, officials said.

But Sylvester, who carried a loaded firearm onto the train, missed the good Samaritan.

The bullet instead bounced off the train door and hit the hand of another man, a 32-year-old innocent bystander, who had happened to enter the car at that time, prosecutors said.

The bystander suffered a gunshot wound to the left hand and graze wounds to the torso, court papers say.

Sylvester expeditiously departed at a goodly pace and was arrested by officers on June 6 in the 19th Precinct.

A search of his apartment uncovered clothing and accessories Sylvester wore on the night of the shooting.

Sylvester has been held on Rikers Island after he was unable to make his initial bail of $100,000 cash, or $250,000 bond.

At a hearing Monday in Manhattan Supreme Court, Justice Laura A. Ward raised the bail amount to $1 million dollar cash or $2 million bond at prosecutors’ request.

"This alleged conduct is very serious and put fellow subway riders at risk of being injured," said Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg
...Soros-owned and operated Manhattan DA. Putting vicious and blood-thirsty criminals in jail only makes them unhappy, and they've led such hard lives after all...
said in a statement.

"We will continue holding people accountable who misuse our transit system as a hub for dangerous weapons and violence and I wish the victim a speedy recovery."

U.S. Airbase Authorizes Troops To Wear LGBT ‘Pride Patch' Alongside Real Badges Of Honor
[Federalist] The latest example of the politicization of the military under the Biden administration (and there are many) has been revealed by Stars and Stripes. It reports that the commander of the Osan Air Force base in South Korea has authorized troops on the base to wear a "pride morale patch" on their military uniforms, in public and while on duty.

Insignia and patches on a soldier’s uniform used to serve the purpose of telling you something about the military qualifications and experience of the soldier. They now can also signal whether a soldier ascribes to the Democrat Party’s current political trends.

The patches, badges, and ribbons on a soldier’s uniform can tell you a lot about the person, including their current assignment, the unit they served with in combat, their time in service and in overseas deployments in a combat theater, campaigns in which they have served, and sometimes their performance in combat.

#2  Pride is one of the seven deadly sins

Pride(superbia), also known as hubris (from Ancient Greek ὕβρις) or futility. It is considered the original and worst of the seven deadly sins on almost every list, the most demonic.[39] It is also thought to be the source of the other capital sins. Pride is the opposite of humility.[40][41]

Pride has been labeled the mother of all sins and has been deemed the devil's most essential trait. C. S. Lewis writes in Mere Christianity that pride is the "anti-God" state, the position in which the ego and the self are directly opposed to God: "Unchastity, anger, greed, drunkenness and all that, are mere fleabites in comparison: it was through Pride that the devil became the devil: Pride leads to every other vice: it is the complete anti-God state of mind."[42] Pride is understood to sever the spirit from God, as well as His life-and-grace-giving Presence.[19]

Whistleblower nurse reveals the shocking tactics doctors used to convince parents their kids needed trans surgeries at America's biggest children's hospital
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] A Texas nurse has claimed doctors at the nation's largest children's hospital are using shocking practices to push gender transitions on kids.

Vanessa Sivadge, 31, has claimed she was threatened by the FBI after she revealed progressive doctors at Texas Children's Hospital are violating state law by using Medicaid benefits to provide sex change treatments to minors.

In an interview with the New York Post, Sivadge said the doctors at the clinic often told parents their kids could kill themselves if they did not transition.

'These doctors are driven by a political agenda, like an ideological agenda,' she said, 'and I truly believe that they think that they're doing the right thing.'

Sivadge added: 'Parents were manipulated by doctors with an ideological agenda to go down this path of medical transition for their child...

Instagram urges users to reconsider following Tucker Carlson in 'insane warning'
[BLAZE] Tucker Carlson has over 3.7 million followers on Instagram. On X, he has nearly 13 million followers. While his following on X is likely far more significant because it is the ostensibly less censorious platform where Carlson routinely uploads episodes of his new show, there may be another reason to account for the delta.

Ashton DeGroot, Blaze Media's social media content coordinator, observed Monday that following Carlson is no easy feat on the Meta platform.

A perfunctory search for Carlson failed to turn up his verified account. Instead, impersonators and fan accounts flooded the results. After multiple tries, it appeared clear that Carlson's verified account would only appear if his exact handle, @TuckerCarlson, was entered into the search bar.

Upon finding Carlson's account, DeGroot found that Instagram put up one last barrier to engagement, imploring prospective followers to reconsider.

#1  Tucker Carlson is a massive talent. For years he was the best thing on TV and the only thing I ever watched on Fox (being that it was uploaded to YouTube). I couldn't believe it when they sacked him.

the reason they sacked him was that he shamed the FBI over Jan 6 by showing the footage of Jason (?) Chanseley. The poor kid who painted his face with the flag and was ushered politely through the Capitol by police who opened doors for him, who was denied access to the exonerating footage and was thrown in prison (much of it solitary) for years.

He was freed after Tucker aired the security cam footage that the authorities had denied the J6 prisoners for their court cases.

Tucker's journalism freed an innocent man from an unjust prison sentence.

Congrats, he should win a Pulitzer for that reporting!

but he got sacked.

So I am very happy to see Tucker doing so well and I'll be excited to watch him in Australia.

In other good news, Julian Assange, also a journalist (publisher) has also been freed. Finally. There's a man who never should have been in the prison in the first place. We owe him a great debt of gratitude for Wikileaks.

Report: Nicaragua Communist Regime Hands over Nation's Gold Mines to China
[Breitbart] Nicaragua’s communist regime has granted control of the nation’s gold mines to China in dubious and expedited procedures, the Argentine news outlet Infobae reported over the weekend.

Nicaraguan biologist and activist Amaru Ruiz explained to Infobae that the regime of dictator Daniel Ortega has granted at least 13 mining leases over the past six months to three Chinese companies through procedures that are “not normal,” as the leases were approved in an expedited manner and without due process. Some of them were allegedly approved as quickly as two months after being requested.

The 13 lease contracts reportedly grant the Chinese companies Zhong Fu Development, Thomas Metal, and Nicaragua XinXin Linze Minera Group exclusive rights for the exploration and exploitation of mineral deposits spanning nearly 250,000 hectares for a period of 25 years, renewable for an additional 25 years.

The three companies, Infobae stated in its report, would manage 11.66 percent of the entire mining area that communist dictator Daniel Ortega has so far leased, which is estimated at almost 2 million hectares according to official information.

“We don’t even know if there are environmental impact studies with the granting of these concessions,” Ruiz said. “We consider that they do not exist because of the time in which the concession is granted, which is really very short compared to other processes of other companies.”

Gold has become Nicaragua’s top export in recent years, registering over $1.1 billion in gold export revenues during 2023, a 22.4-percent increase when compared to 2022.

In May, the United States imposed sanctions on Comintsa and Capital Mining, two Nicaraguan-based gold companies with ties to the Ortega regime. The Department of the Treasury explained that Comintsa is owned by Salvador Mansell Castrillo, who previously served as Ortega’s energy and mines minister and one of the Ortega regime’s high-ranking offers sanctioned by the United States in 2021.

Similarly, the U.S. Treasury Department explained in its May statement that Capital Mining serves as an intermediary company of the Ortega regime in Nicaragua’s gold sector controlled by Laureano Ortega Murillo, dictator Daniel Ortega’s son.

“The designations of Comintsa and Capital Mining target government-affiliated gold companies generating revenue for the Ortega-Murillo regime,” the Department of the Treasury stated. “Gold is Nicaragua’s top commodity export, and this action aims to degrade the ability of the Ortega-Murillo regime to manipulate the sector and profit from the corrupt operations of Comintsa and Capital Mining.”

America previously imposed sanctions on Nicaragua in October 2022 against the General Directorate of Mines meant to curb the authoritarian Ortega regime’s ability to fund itself from gold mining proceeds.

Argentina Logs First Week with No Inflation in Food Prices in 30 Years
[Breitbart] For the first time in 30 years, Argentina experienced a zero-percent increase in the inflation rates of food and drinks during the third week of June, President Javier Milei confirmed on Monday morning.

A study published on Sunday by Econométrica, a private Argentine consulting firm, first reported the no-inflation week. In its study, Econométrica analyzed 8,000 prices in local online supermarkets and found no change when compared to the preceding week — something that has not happened in Argentina in three decades. In addition to the lack of variation in prices in one week, the study found that the prices of food and drinks only experienced an increase of 0.1 percent in the past 15 days.

President Milei, who is currently in Prague, confirmed the study’s findings on Monday morning in a telephone interview held with Argentina’s Radio Mitre, celebrating the news as a result of his economic policies.

"That means that we are on the right path — which there is still a long way to go, but the first signs that things are working are beginning to appear," Milei told Argentine journalist Eduardo Feinmann.

"I sometimes present it, explain it, but, well, I have encountered in recent times gross levels of intellectual dishonesty. Because we all know that wholesale inflation is the one that predicts and anticipates retail inflation and the reality is that inflation in December when we arrived was 54 percent, that annualized gives 17,000," he continued.

Milei added, "it also speaks of the misery or incompetence of other colleagues, doesn’t it? But the truth is that there is no country in the world where we are not recognized for our titanic task in terms of lowering inflation."

"Julian Is Free!" Assange Released After 'Time Served' Plea Deal With DOJ, Departs For Home
[ZH] WikiLeaks has released its first footage showing Julian Assange as a free man, emerging from Belmarsh prison looking triumphant and joyous, and soon after boarding a plane to his native Australia...

JULIAN ASSANGE IS FREE Julian Assange is free. He left Belmarsh maximum security prison on the morning of 24 June, after having spent 1901 days there. He was granted bail by the High Court in London and was released at Stansted airport during the afternoon, where he boarded a plane and departed the UK. This is the result of a global campaign that spanned grass-roots organisers, press freedom campaigners, legislators and leaders from across the political spectrum, all the way to the United Nations.

This created the space for a long period of negotiations with the US Department of Justice, leading to a deal that has not yet been formally finalised. We will provide more information as soon as possible. After more than five years in a 2x3 metre cell, isolated 23 hours a day, he will soon reunite with his wife Stella Assange, and their children, who have only known their father from behind bars.

WikiLeaks published groundbreaking stories of government corruption and human rights abuses, holding the powerful accountable for their actions. As editor-in-chief, Julian paid severely for these principles, and for the people's right to know. As he returns to Australia, we thank all who stood by us, fought for us, and remained utterly committed in the fight for his freedom. Julian's freedom is our freedom.

500 Texas truckers fired en masse after company abruptly shutters - despite business 'surging'
A truck and logistics company has abruptly shut - affecting 2,000 workers - just three years after being bought by private equity.

Out of the blue, staff at US Logistics Solutions were given news on Thursday that they were out of a job and would also not get their paychecks on Friday.

Around 500 were truck drivers, and the rest a mixture of warehouse, dock and office workers at the Humble, Texas- based company.

Some staff said that the loss of large contracts - such as a $30 million deal Bath and Body Works p;us also one with Barnes & Noble - caused it to struggle.

The 30-year-old company confirmed on Monday it had filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy - meaning it has no intention of carrying on and will sell all its assets.

Eric Culberson, the president of USLS, said in a LinkedIn post on Saturday that he was 'devastated' for all the staff.

The company has been bought out by private equity firm Ten Oaks Group, based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Ten Oaks bought a part of Greenville, Tennessee-based Forward Air's distribution business in February 2021, renamed it USLS and moved it to Texas.

Some former USLS employees, speaking anonymously to FreightWaves, said they were notified about the closure by payroll company ADP.

Ten Oaks Group struggled to secure further financing from its lenders, which forced the abrupt closure of USLS.

Prior to ceasing operations, USLS operated 19 terminals, primarily on the Eastern side of the country.

America has been hit with a wave of bankruptcy filings in recent months - hitting small and medium businesses.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy is more serious than Chapter 11, and means a business has no intention of carrying on and sells all its assets. Chapter 11 is considered a reorganization bankruptcy.

'Despite the best efforts by its dedicated workforce, the company was notified by its lender that it will no longer receive the necessary funding to continue operations,' a statement released on Monday read.

'The decision to file for bankruptcy was not taken lightly. The leadership team explored all possible alternatives to avoid this outcome, including seeking additional investment and strategic partnerships.

'However, the abrupt cessation of funding left the company with no other recourse.'

Is it because this economy is so damn fire, those contracts couldn't meet their minimum volume obligations?

Hooters abruptly shuts dozens of 'underperforming stores' as inflation hammers diners
[NYPOST] Hooters abruptly closed dozens of "underperforming stores" — the latest chain to shutter restaurants as inflation batters US consumers.

The famed chicken wings brand, known for its skimpy uniforms, cited "pressure from current market conditions" for its decision to close an unspecified number of stores.

"Like many restaurants under pressure from current market conditions, Hooters has made the difficult decision" to close select locations, a spokesperson told The Post on Monday.

Sixteen Nobel Prize-Winning Economists Warn a Second Trump Term Would ‘Reignite' Inflation
Always listen to the 'experts'!
[CNBC] - Sixteen Nobel Prize-winning economists signed a joint letter Tuesday warning of what they see as economic risks if former President Donald Trump were to serve a second term, including reheated inflation.

"While each of us has different views on the particulars of various economic policies, we all agree that Joe Biden’s economic agenda is vastly superior to Donald Trump’s," the economists wrote. Axios was first to report the letter.

"There is rightly a worry that Donald Trump will reignite this inflation, with his fiscally irresponsible budgets," wrote the group of politically progressive academics.

Given the current sorry state of the US economy, prominently featuring the 'fiscally irresponsible budgets' they bemoan when it may / might be done by a Republican, there's no reason to believe this complete and utter dishonest piece of shit article is anything other than an appeal to authority.

Government Corruption
Feds Surveilling Thousands Of Americans' Mail Each Year
[Daily Caller] The United States Postal Service (USPS) gave law enforcement thousands of names, addresses and other details from the letters and packages of Americans without court approval, The Washington Post reported Monday.

The USPS said it generally only granted information requests from law enforcement agencies when it aided in tracking down a crime suspect; however, records obtained by the Post showed that 97% of the 60,000 requests from law enforcement were approved over an eight-year period. Between 2015 and 2023, over 312,000 letters and packages were recorded without receiving judicial approval. (RELATED Federal Judge Rules Law Prohibiting Guns In Post Offices Is Unconstitutional)

The Internal Revenue Service, Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation were the top requesters in the 2015 audit, according to the Post.

"These new statistics show that thousands of Americans are subjected to warrantless surveillance each year, and that the Postal Inspection Service rubber stamps practically all of the requests they receive," Oregon Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden said in a statement to the Post.

Temporary Election Worker for Maricopa County Arrested for Theft
[Breitbart] A temporary election worker for Maricopa County in Arizona was arrested after he allegedly stole items from an election center.

Law enforcement officials revealed that 27-year-old Walter Ringfield was arrested on Friday after he reportedly stole a security fob and keys from the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center, according to KTAR News.

Ringfield, who was on probation for a previous felony, was booked into jail on charges of “theft and criminal damage,” according to the outlet.

The Maricopa County Elections Department said in a statement to ABC15 that election workers who had been conducting “daily inventory” on Friday morning, realized that “an item” was missing “from the Ballot Tabulation Center and had been taken the night before.”

“On Friday morning, when completing a daily inventory, Maricopa County election workers identified that an item was taken from the Ballot Tabulation Center on Thursday evening,” the Maricopa County Election Department said. “Staff took immediate action to investigate the matter and contacted the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. The stolen item has been recovered but to ensure the integrity of the Maricopa County Elections, election workers are reprogramming and reconducting logic and accuracy testing of all equipment.”

Security footage reportedly showed an employee taking the security fob and keys off a desk before placing the items in his pocket.

When questioned, Ringfield reportedly denied taking the items. However, law enforcement officers who arrived at his home the following day spotted “part of the keys” in his car.

The security fob was reportedly not found, according to the outlet.

Ringfield is reportedly not eligible for bond due to being on probation.

The Latest COLA News Could Be a Big Disappointment to Retirees
[MotleyFool] Key Points

* Retirees may see just a 2.57% cost of living adjustment in their Social Security benefits in 2025.

* This would be the smallest benefits increase seniors have received in years.

* DC SWAMP floats the lie that cooling inflation explains the smaller raise.

But many retirees are asking the real question:

What about the real world 21+% inflation rate, that we the US People, Retirees Citizens actually exp.

The real inflation rate that the DC Swamp deliberately avoided for political reasons to adjust for?

All while dumping 100's of $$$$ Billions into other countries and inviting in 14.5 Millions ILLEGALS for taxpayers to care and feed them.

#7  a little bit deceptive because many people who get SocSec benefits have deductions for Medicare B and D and these deductions change each year. Thus the basic Social Security may increase by, say, $40/month but the deductions may increase also so the net change would be less, say $30/month.
