-Short Attention Span Theater-
Explaining the Electoral College with the 1960 World Series
[Townhall] An easy way to understand it involves reviewing the results of baseball’s 1960 World Series.

In the 1960 World Series, the New York Yankees had sluggers such as Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, Hector Lopez, Tony Kubek, and Bill Skowron. Their Series opponent was the Pittsburgh Pirates, a worthy National League challenger, but nowhere near the reputation and raw power of the Yankees. As such, the Pirates were huge underdogs.

In game one, the Pirates won a squeaker, 6-4. The next day the Yankees clobbered them 16-3. In game three, the Yankees continued their batting prowess, pounding the Pirates 10-0. Fortunately for the Pirates, game four was not a slugfest and they won 3-2. They also prevailed in game five by a score of 5-2. The Yankees, however, couldn't be held down. In game six, they pulverized the Pirates 12-0.

So, the World Series came down to game seven, having been tied 3-3 over the first six games. At that point, the Yankees had outscored the Pirates 46-17; in baseball terms, an incredible gap in run production. If total runs, rather than winning four games, determined the World Series winner, the Pirates would have to outscore the Yankees by 29 runs in the next game, which would never happen.

In the seventh and deciding game, Bill Mazeroski, a second baseman not known for power at the plate, led off and hit a home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Pirates a 10-9 victory over the Yankees.

Sport writers consider that this World Series was among the wildest in baseball history. Through all seven games, the Yankees outscored the Pirates 55-27, more than double the runs.

Should the Yankees be crowned the 1960 World Series champs because they massively outscored the Pirates? Or are the Pirates the true victors because they won four games, required to be the World Series champs? You know the answer, it's the Pirates.

Each state represents an individual contest. Whoever wins the popular votes in 48 states wins all the electoral votes in that state. Nebraska and Maine have been the exceptions, employing the "Congressional District Method" which allows for proportional Electoral College voting.

Critics of the Electoral College ask, "why not revert to an aggregate, nationwide popular vote election?" California, Illinois, New York and other large population states would dominate elections forevermore. People in Alaska, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Alabama, Delaware, West Virginia, Maine, and other small population states would be disenfranchised. Their votes simply wouldn't count.

#1  It is a union of States. The Senate represents states with 2 representatives from each. Amending the Constitution requires the approval of 3/4 of the states for ratification. There would be no United States of America if the small states knew they were going to be ruled by a few populous states. Thus the aforementioned provisions. Of course the totalitarians hate that and prefer mob rule, aka "Our Democracy"(tm).

#4  Certainly they will try. I am not overconfident. They have also spent the last 4 years trying to make Biden seem presidential. Let’s not get demoralized thinking that all their plans work.

America's worst-run city is revealed: and it's not New York or Chicago...

Just look at the population and demographics of SF & Oakland.

#3  Every time I go through Nampa, the amount of growth in new apartment buildings is staggering. The increase in traffic on existing infrastructure is causing some problems. Lots of money coming in and unrestrained growth. Obviously better run than the SF or Chicago upholstered cesspools but what’s the judging criteria? I’ll take small town Eagle. No buildings over 3 stories. One of the reasons I moved here 11 years ago.

Caucasus/Russia/Central Asia
The Last Voyage of Naval Transport 'Bialystok'
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text from a V Kontakte post by THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR

A similar story was posted back in July 21st, 2021, about the sinking of the naval transport "Armenia" which was attempting to escape the German Army and German/Italian navies' blockade/cordon in Sevastopol. You can find it here.

The sanitary transport "Bialystok" (commanded by Senior Lieutenant T.P. Rymkus) was the last large transport ship that managed to break through to besieged Sevastopol. While parked, the transport was damaged by enemy coastal artillery fire.

At 21:30 06/18/1942 "Bialystok" guarding the base minesweeper "Anchor" and five patrol boats left Sevastopol for Tuapse. There were 375 wounded and 43 evacuees on board the transport.

At 01:48 on June 19, at the exit from fairway No. 3, 20 kilometers south of Cape Fiolent, the silhouette of a torpedo boat was seen from a minesweeper, which was mistaken for our own, and fire was not opened on it. This allowed three enemy torpedo boats to attack the convoy without encountering opposition. The transport avoided one of the fired torpedoes with a maneuver. A torpedo from the boat S-102 hit the transport, and it quickly sank.

Patrol boats began to pick up people floating in the water. The enemy boats tried to stop them by opening machine-gun fire, but were driven away. 388 people died. The escort ships managed to rescue 75 wounded, 3 passengers and 79 crew members.

After this voyage of the Bialystok, over the next week only warships made their way into besieged Sevastopol, and until the end of the defense - only submarines and transport aircraft.

In Memory of the Recounting Troops of Lieutenant N. Federov
June 18, 1942

To conduct reconnaissance of the enemy, on the recommendation of the intelligence department of the Black Sea Fleet headquarters, two reconnaissance detachments were created, one of which was supposed to act in the interests of the Odessa defensive region, and the other in the area of the Crimean peninsula. The detachment consisted of volunteers from the Black Sea Fleet aviation.

On the night of June 18, 1942, 22 reconnaissance officers under the command of Senior Lieutenant N. Fedorov left besieged Sevastopol on two ships towing six-, four- and two-oar boats. The group was supposed to land in the Alupka area and disrupt the movement of fascist transports with troops and ammunition.

Midshipman O. Popenkov's subgroup of four people on a two-oar boat landed successfully and began to carry out the assigned task.

Two other boats were discovered and came under fire. The landing boats, whose crews having heard the shooting, decided that the entire group had successfully landed, left for Sevastopol. At dawn, two German boats entered the boats from the direction of Yalta. A battle ensued, during which one boat was damaged, but the second continued to fire at the boats for another half hour, after which it took the damaged boat in tow and went to Yalta.

After this, the boats were attacked by two torpedo boats. During the battle, one of the boats was also damaged and was towed to the base.

When the boats of the reconnaissance sailors - four and six - were abeam of Cape Sarych, they noticed an object similar to a buoy, but it soon became clear that this was the cabin of a submarine. Having approached the boats, the submarine completely surfaced. An officer in a wide-brimmed black hat appeared from the opened conning hatch and began examining the boats through binoculars. It became clear to the Soviet sailors that the boat was enemy.

The commander of the reconnaissance group, Senior Lieutenant Nikolai Fedorov, decided to be the first to attack the enemy. The success of the upcoming battle was facilitated by the conspicuous absence of any weapons on the deck of the boat. When the boat caught up with the boats and the distance between the opponents was no more than fifty meters, the scouts, on command, opened fire with all the weapons they had: two light machine guns, machine guns and rifles.

The enemy officer instantly disappeared, the hatch slammed shut, and the boat itself hurried to dive. Even before the battle, the rower of the four, Yuri Kulikov, noticing a tricolor flag with vertical stripes on the wheelhouse, suggested: “It seems Italian...” Having slashed the periscope that remained on the surface with a machine-gun burst, the scouts forced the submarine to go deeper.

The enemy's coastal battery began to shoot at the boats, but a boat sent to help took the boats away from the fire to Sevastopol. All 18 intelligence officers were awarded orders, and the Red Navy man Gorbishchenko was awarded posthumously.

Midshipman Popenkov's subgroup completed the assigned task and, a few days before leaving Sevastopol, returned to the detachment, crossing the front line at night.

In the last days of the heroic defense of Sevastopol, the reconnaissance detachment fought fierce battles in the city, ensuring the exit of the fleet command to Cape Chersonesus. In street battles, as well as in the area of Cossack and Streletskaya bays, most of the scouts died.

The shell-shocked and wounded were captured, including Fedorov, who died in a camp in Simferopol.

Government Corruption
The CDC Admits its Latest Anti-Gun Report is Misleading and Full of Holes
[SNW via Insty] Three teenage girls were alone in their Lawrence County, Kentucky home one hot summer day in 2019. Suddenly, a white car pulled up and two men got out. One man started kicking in the front door. The second suspect circled around to the backyard and began breaking out a window with a shovel. The youngest of the girls, who was 14-years old at the time, found and loaded the family’s 9mm pistol and fired a round at one of the suspects. Both quickly left.

In 2021, a 12-year-old boy armed himself after two masked home invaders broke into his grandmother’s home demanding money. One of the suspects shot the 73-year-old woman, which prompted the youth to return fire in self-defense. Police later found one of the suspects curled up on his side in an intersection near the home. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The grandmother survived her wounds.

In February, a 14-year-old Houston-area teen fired six rounds at an intruder who was trying to break into his home through the front door. Police found the suspect, who was wearing gloves and carrying a backpack, in the front yard where he was pronounced dead.

None of these defensive gun usages — or any others — were even mentioned in a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which purported to examine firearm storage data behaviors. Defensive gun usages weren’t the only data set omitted from the report.

The CDC needed so many disclosures and disclaimers to tell readers what other data was missing from its research that it’s a miracle the report even was published.

The report, titled “Firearm Storage Behaviors — Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, Eight States, 2021–2022,” was based on telephone interviews. The researchers called the respondents using a “random-digit–dialed landline and mobile telephone survey.” However, the authors immediately encountered four significant problems that affected the validity of their work:

1. They were unable to determine whether firearms were stored loaded or unloaded during the phone interviews.

2. They were only able to obtain data from the eight states, which is statistically meaningless.

3. Some respondents did not want to disclose whether they had a firearm in their home.

4. All of the data was self-reported to the researchers, and therefore “subject to social desirability and recall biases.”

As a result, the CDC’s findings were statistical gibberish. In the handful of states that participated, the authors concluded, “18.4% – 50.6% of respondents reported the presence of a firearm in or around their home, and 19.5% – 43.8% of those with a firearm reported that at least one firearm was stored loaded.”

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Naftali Bennett: Defeating Hamas is only the beginning of the solution
I wish we could say that the Palestinians were "hijacked" by Hamas and the people themselves actually seek peace and prosperity, but the facts show the opposite:

- The latest poll from days ago shows that 67% of the Palestinians SUPPORT the October 7th massacre.

- In the only democratic elections to the Palestinian Authority (Jan 2006), Hamas won an absolute majority of seats in the parliament: 76 out of 132 seats, while Fatah got only 48 seats.

- Every poll since shows that Hamas would win again. That’s why Abbas has avoided any further elections. He’d lose and he knows it.

- On October 7th, thousands of random Gazans joined the massacre, slaughtering families, burning adults and children, raping women.

- I’m not aware of even ONE case of a Gaza resident that actively opposed this violence.

So a majority of Palestinians support horrible crimes and many of them participated in one way or another (e.g. using their homes as Hamas ammunition storage).

Why is this important?

1. The truth always matters.

2. To make any progress, first we're going to need to stop the brain poisoning that every Palestinian goes through. It turns many into murderers. If you're brain-poisoned to believe that Jews are the Satan and pigs, nobody should be surprised when you actually go out to murder them.

3. No diplomatic plan can skip that.

4. The claim that "their tough condition" is what turns them into murderers is false. There are billions of people who live in poverty and much worse conditions that don’t become savage murderers.

Actually, the Palestinians have much better conditions than most other Arabs, and prior to October 7th they were enjoying considerable economic growth.

Long term, a necessary step for progress will be to de-Nazify Gaza and many of the Palestinian public.

First, we need to defeat Hamas.

There are no solutions but the one used on Sudeten Germans.

Dear World: Yes, everyone is wrong and Israel alone is right
[AmThinker] Zionist prophet Ze’ev Jabotinsky said many years ago, "The past lays a railroad track for the future."

Jabotinsky once asked, "'Everybody is wrong and you alone are right?' No doubt this question springs by itself to the reader's lips and mind. It is customary to answer this with apologetic phrases to the effect that I fully respect public opinion, that I bow to it, that I was glad to make concessions... All this is unnecessary, and all this is untrue. You cannot believe in anything in the world, if you admit even once that perhaps your opponents are right, and not you. This is not the way to do things. There is but one truth in the world, and it is all yours. If you are not sure of it, stay at home; but if you are sure, don't look back, and it will be your way."

As Jabotinsky said, "What is important is what you are demanding; what is important is in whose name it is being demanded. If the demand is presented in the name of a great mass of people, it is important that that mass itself make it clear from time to time that it is seriously interested in the subject. What is important is patience and stamina; and one of the most important factors is that the spokesman stating the case should be capable of stating it clearly as well as politely."

All of these things are true in June 2024 and they will always be true when it comes to the Jewish people.

This week, Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said "no" to a proposal that France, the United States, and Israel would form a contact group to work on defusing escalating tensions with Hezb’allah on the northern border. As Gallant said, "As we fight a just war, defending our people. France has adopted hostile policies against Israel. In doing so, France ignores the atrocities committed by Hamas against Israeli children, women, and men. Israel will not be a party to the trilateral framework proposed by France."

Rightfully, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently said, "If Israel has to stand alone, we will stand alone. If we need to, we will fight with our fingernails. But we have much more than our fingernails."

The reality is that Israel is at odds with much of the world as Jews are in danger worldwide -- and as American and western interests are in great danger worldwide.

The U.S. is delusional when lecturing Israel on a two-state solution. There is no support in Israel for a two-state solution, we have no one to talk to and we have compromised more than enough. Gaza in 2005 was a compromise for peace, which resulted in October 7th. Now, we are asked to compromise again and reward the attacks of 10/7. Won’t happen in this independent Jewish state.

Israel knows we have to sometimes fight alone, as history has shown us. The reality is that Israel and the Jewish people have throughout history had hardship.

As Jabotinsky noted, "We hold that Zionism is moral and just. And since it is moral and just, justice must be done, no matter whether Joseph or Simon or Ivan or Achmed agree with it or not."

Dear World: Yes, Everyone is Wrong and We Alone Are Right. We Are The Jewish people. We will keep doing what is best for us and that’s all. Live with it -- or don’t.

To properly evaluate the humanitarian dreams of "western" politicians - note that these people are engaged in genocide against their own People.
