The senatrix doth protest too much. She knew and did not care.
[FoxNews] Warren has opposed ObamaCare repeal efforts and advocated for 'Medicare for All'.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., "is at long last acknowledging that ObamaCare has increased healthcare prices" and created other unintentional consequences, the Wall Street Journal editorial board wrote Friday.
Warren, who has long supported the Affordable Care Act, the official name for ObamaCare, has recently come to an "epiphany" about "industry consolidation and price increases caused by the healthcare law," per The Journal.
A letter to the Health and Human Services Department inspector general was aimed at determining if "vertically-integrated health care companies are hiking prescription drug costs" and are "evading federal regulations."
In a bipartisan letter, she and Sen. Mike Braun, R-Ind., complained "that the nation’s largest health insurers are dodging ObamaCare’s medical loss ratio (MLR)," according to The Journal.
As Warren describes in the letter, health insurers have exploited the situation, making for "sky-high prescription drug costs and excessive corporate profits."
"In functioning markets, generic drugs cost 80 to 85 percent less than their name-brand equivalents, giving patients much-needed relief from high drug costs and saving taxpayer dollars," Warren wrote. "But patients – including patients in public health care programs like Medicare and Medicaid – who either use or are compelled to use vertically integrated specialty pharmacies are not seeing this relief."
The senators continued: "By owning every link in the chain, a conglomerate like UnitedHealth Group – which includes an insurer, a PBM, a pharmacy, and physician practices – can send inflated medical payments to its pharmacy. Then, by realizing those payments on the pharmacy side – the side that charges for care – rather than the insurance side, the insurance line of business appears to be in compliance with MLR requirements, while keeping more money for itself."

She now understands more government regulation was needed.

They’re going to put things on lower shelves so I don’t have to climb up to get them? Yay!!
Yeah, but they'll lock them down so you don't steal them!
[NYPOST] A new city law that bans discriminating against someone because of their height or weight went into effect last week, six months after Mayor Eric Adams ...Hizonner da Mare of Noo Yawk. As a Manchurian candidate, Hizonner was all in favor of law and order and that kind of stuff. Once in office, a few of his friends found cushy jobs with the city, the windows kept getting broken, and Soros-funded DA Alvin Bragg remained right where he was. Most people comfort themselves with the thought that he's not Bill di Blasio but that's pretty small comfort with kids who actually go to school getting bumped off while standing in front of them. But he's a Dem, so the rubes will vote for him next election too, so he's what they deserve... first signed the legislation.
The law adds those two categories to the list of characteristics that are protected from housing, job and public discrimination — alongside things like age, gender, race, religion and sexual orientation, according to the New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... "All New Yorkers, regardless of their body shape or size, deserve to be protected from discrimination under the law," NYC City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams and Councilman Shaun Abreu said in a joint statement Sunday.
"Body size discrimination affects millions of people every year, contributing to harmful disparities in medical treatment and outcomes, blocking people from access to opportunities in employment, housing and public accommodations, and deepening existing injustices that people face," the statement added.
"New York City is leading the nation with this groundbreaking anti-discrimination law."

That'll open up police recruitment. Do I need to put a /sarc on that? No, when they're allowed to just stand there and watch citizens and fellow cops be hammered to the ground by perps, it won't make any difference.
[HotAir] What a small world. The great-aunt of little Abigail Edan is an art patron of Hunter Biden and a presidential appointee.
Is that a coincidence or were strings pulled? The very first American citizen released by Hamas has a connection to the Biden family. That fact has not been disclosed in any of the media reports of Abigail’s release. Wouldn’t you think that an honest and transparent media and the Biden administration should make that connection public knowledge?
I was surprised to read about the connection in a post from the editor-at-large for Real Clear Investigations and a Senior Contributor at The Federalist. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have made the connection and I’m willing to bet that most people haven’t connected these dots, either. It may be absolutely nothing at all. I just find the connection unusual.
So you're telling me that the great-aunt of the youngest American hostage -- and first American -- to be released by Hamas is a buyer of Hunter Biden's art, who was then appointed by Joe Biden to the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad?

[NYPOST] A licensed cannabis operator has sued Jersey City, claiming officials there illegally awarded a license to a rival weed store with business ties to ex-New Jersey Gov. Jim McGreevey, who recently announced a comeback bid to become Jersey City mayor.
The Cannabis Place, which also runs a Queens-based licensed marijuana delivery service in New York, was awarded a license to operate at 1544 Kennedy Boulevard in Jersey City in September 2022.
Then last month, the Jersey City Council approved a license for Kushmart to operate across the street at 1521 Kennedy Boulevard, violating a prohibition against pot stores being located within 600 feet of each other, the suit says.
Under state law, applicants must have a "community partner" in order to obtain a cannabis license.
Kushmart’s community partner on the project is NJ Reentry Corporation, whose executive director and chairman is Jim McGreevey.
His group helps train and find jobs for ex-convicts — including at budding cannabis shops after New Jersey legalized the sale of recreational weed in April 2022.
[HOT AIR] There’s a political cartoon going around that shows John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy sitting on a couch watching a speech by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The two hold their palms to their heads and moan that their legacy is being twisted and ruined.
This has the situation completely backward. It isn’t RFK Jr. who is rejecting the Kennedy brothers’ legacy, but President Joe Biden and the modern-day Democrats.
It’s been said many times — and it happens to be true — that if JFK were alive today and he were espousing the ideas of his 1,000-day presidency, he would be a Republican. JFK was a staunch Cold War anti-communist/socialist. He espoused lower tax rates, was pro-life, served our country in uniform valiantly, was patriotic, was a hawk on protecting First Amendment civil liberties, and he and his brother, who served as attorney general, took on union and government corruption.
Not many Democratic leaders today check any of these boxes.
This is why the Left has come to detest RFK Jr. He is an inconvenient candidate who is exposing the Democrats’ identity crisis. The party leaders today denounce RFK for what were mainstream Democratic values 60 years ago. The DNC effectively booted him out of the party for this very apostasy. Now they’re terrified that there are a good many Democrat voters who long for the party of old and may splinter off.

The long-term project to destroy the USA began long before JFK came along. See: Yalta. JFK was deemed a danger to the master plan. That's why he was eliminated.

RFK Jr. will split the Democrat vote and end up with Trump in office. Just like Jill Stein did in 2016.

The same people who bragged the sales price of ketchup actually went down (when everything else was up I think 10% over his first 6 months).
Meanwhile, our local food pantry is stressed because of the demographic mentioned by NN2N1. Why watching those two entertainers win MVP, each get a giant turkey leg, each take a bite, and whatever their way off the stage was frustrating.

^^^Not at all. But if this distracts him from his war on parents at school board meetings and conservative Catholics, I'm all for it.

Here again, the term "weak ass" is being overly generous. He knows what he's doing and he's doing it on purpose. The man is evil.

In the end, the American hostages are to coerce us into leashing Israel. If we tracked all the USAID cash carefully, we would find that we are funding Hamas similarly to how we are funding the Ukrainian bureaucrats. What Hamas has done, in this case, would not have happened under Reagan or Trump. Jimmy Carter would have even tried a Delta op by this point. Maybe Carter could run in 2024 from his hospice bed. It would be an upgrade.

Rantburg was assembled from recycled algorithms in the United States of America. No
trees were destroyed in the production of this weblog. We did hurt some, though. Sorry.
