Illegal immigrant who allegedly shot 2 NYPD officers at 'point-blank range' indicted on 20 charges
[FoxNews] Bernardo Raul Castro Mata indicted on 20 charges, including 1st- and 2nd-degree attempted murder.

At about 1:40 a.m. on June 3, NYPD officers Christopher Abreu and Richard Yarusso, along with NYPD Sgt. Nicholas Condos were on patrol when they saw Mata, who was not wearing a helmet, driving an unregistered motorcycle the wrong way down Ditmars Boulevard near 90th Street in East Elmhurst.

Mata was also allegedly weaving the motorcycle onto the sidewalk in the presence of pedestrians.

Yarusso and Condos tried to approach Mata, who ditched the motorcycle and ran away, according to authorities.

Yarusso and Condos tried to approach Mata, who ditched the motorcycle and ran away, according to authorities.

Mata also allegedly shot Abreu in the upper right thigh, at which point the law enforcement officer fired back, striking Mata in the foot and ankle area.

After being shot, Mata dropped the gun and was placed in handcuffs.

Investigators at the scene recovered a loaded Hi-Point .380-caliber pistol as well as two deformed fired bullets, nine bullet fragments, three discharged .380-caliber shell casings and four 9 mm discharged shell casings.

If Mata is convicted on the top charge of first-degree attempted murder, he could face up to 40 years behind bars.

Police said Mata entered the country illegally last July near El Paso, Texas, and was staying at a former airport hotel-turned-migrant shelter in the Elmhurst section of Queens.

Citing sources, the New York Post reported that Mata has a tattoo that signals to investigators he could be a member of Venezuela's "bloodthirsty" Tren de Aragua gang.

Afghanistan
A female journalist who fled from the Taliban forced to fly from Russia to Afghanistan
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.
[Regnum] Afghan journalist Kobra Hassani, who fled the Taliban, fearing execution, flew back to Kabul.

“Hassani, who was detained in Russia while trying to sail to the European Union, flew to Afghanistan on June 25,” the publication reported.

The journalist is expected to fly to Kabul on June 26.

She tried to seek asylum in Russia, but was refused. As Hassani’s lawyer Maria Belyaeva said, the girl had many options to leave, from Albania to Germany. However, according to the defender, this required effort, time and money.

Hassani was born in Iran, but moved to Afghanistan with her family as a child. Before the change of political regime in Afghanistan, Hassani worked in television, advocated for women's rights, and owned a restaurant. In 2021, she fled to Tajikistan, then ended up in Ukraine, and then in Moscow. In May 2022, she was detained in St. Petersburg.

According to investigators, Hassani and several Afghan citizens were planning to travel to Europe. They were promised that they would be taken to one of the European countries without going through passport and border control. During the investigation, the detained journalist was sent to a pre-trial detention center, then Hassani was transferred to the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens in Krasnoe Selo.

Later, the court sentenced the organizer of this illegal transportation to four years in a maximum security colony, and the rest of the detainees, including the Afghan journalist, received two years in prison. Her trial lasted from October 2023. The prosecutor's office, as reported, filed an appeal against the sentence imposed on Hassani and several other natives of Afghanistan who were involved in the case of attempting to illegally cross the border towards the European Union.

As Regnum reported, at the end of May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Justice reported to President Vladimir Putin that the Taliban movement could be removed from the list of terrorists. The Russian leader said in May that Moscow was taking into account the views of every country in the region on the issue of recognizing the Taliban.

Haitians react to expected arrival of police force from Kenya
[AFRICANEWS] Nearly two years after Haiti urgently requested help to quell a surge in gang violence, people in the country have mixed reactions to the news that hundreds of Kenyan police officers are finally heading to the troubled nation.

On Monday, in the streets of the capital, Port-au-Prince, some welcomed their arrival, while others viewed the force with caution.

Verna Siber is a teacher in Port-au-Prince.

He said “they have to be everywhere in the country if we are ever going to be free.”

Nathalie François, a nurse, said she thinks the solution to Haiti's problems is the responsibility of the country's people, but she welcomes any help if it allows residents the security they need to move freely in the country and feed themselves.

For Maxime Josaphat, an electrician in Port-au-Prince, he thinks it took too long for help to arrive.

“We have been suffering for four years,” he said.

The Kenyan police will lead a multinational force against the powerful gangs whose deadly violence spiked this year.

The Haitian National Police is underfunded and ill-equipped.

A U.N. report notes that it has only around 4,000 officers on duty at a time in a country of more than 11 million inhabitants.

It is not clear what the Kenyans’ first assignment would be.

Still, they face violent gangs that control 80% of Haiti’s capital and have left more than 580,000 people across the country homeless as they pillage neighborhoods in their quest to control more territory.

According to the U.N. Security Council, forces from countries including the Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Benin, Chad, and Jamaica will join the Kenyans, for a total of 2,500 police officers who will be deployed in phases at an annual cost of some $600 million.

Wahhabis in Derbent lured cops with promises to surrender, then opened fire
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited.

Text taken from the V Kontakte page of Armed Forces of Novorossiya (VSN)

Wahhabis in Derbent covered themselves with civilians and lured the police, promising to surrender - security forces wounded during the battles spoke about the day of the terrorist attack.

Police officers wounded during the battles with the Wahhabis, who are in the hospital of the Derbent Central City Hospital, told Readovka what it looked like forthem the day of the terrorist attack. One of the employees was alerted and went to reinforcement and, having arrived at the point, first of all took part in the rescue of his boss, who was being targeted by the militants. While rescuing colleagues who came under terrorist fire, the man was wounded in the thigh.

According to him, the operation to eliminate the Wahhabis was complicated by the fact that the militants hid behind panicking civilians and deliberately went out into open, crowded places - the security forces were afraid of harming civilians.

The policeman also spoke about the meanness and cowardice of the terrorists - they shouted several times that they were ready to surrender, but when law enforcement officers came out of hiding to carry out the seizure, they opened fire at point-blank range. Now the life of the man for whom the hero of Russia, Magomed Nurbagandov, the author of the phrase “Work, brothers,” once interned, is not in danger.

Another policeman was standing in uniform and found himself right outside the synagogue when the militants started shooting. He followed the sounds of gunfire and was immediately wounded four times by one of the Wahhabis. In total, on the day of the terrorist attack, six police officers were taken to the Derbent hospital, one of whom could not be saved. All the other wounded, as the deputy chief physician of the Central City Hospital said, are in stable condition.

Europe
Leftist German Government Removes Less Than 3 Per Cent of Migrants with Deportation Orders
[Breitbart] Despite vowing last year to increase deportations the leftist coalition government in Germany only managed to deport less than three per cent of migrants set for removal in the first four months of the year.

In the wake of soaring antisemitic incidents and Islamist attacks across Europe following the October 7th terror attacks on Israel, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that his government would begin deportations of illegals, failed asylum seekers and foreign criminals on a “large scale“.

However, figures reported by public broadcaster Deutsche Welle have shown that this has yet to come to pass, with just 6,300 foreigners being removed from Germany from January to April. This is compared to 240,000 who faced a deportation order, meaning that just 2.63 per cent of migrants were removed after receiving an order to leave.

DW reports that around 80 per cent of those with a deportation order could not be removed because they either did not have identification papers or came from countries that Germany currently considers unsafe — such as Syria and Afghanistan — and therefore refuses to send migrants back to homelands.

Chancellor Scholz has said that his government would look to end the prohibition on sending migrants back to Syria and Afghanistan, following a mass stabbing that left a police officer dead by a failed asylum seeker from Afghanistan who avoided removal on the grounds that his home country was unsafe.

“It outrages me when someone who has sought protection here commits the most serious crimes. Such criminals should be deported, even if they come from Syria and Afghanistan,” the chancellor said earlier this month.

Germany: Islamophobic crimes more than double in 2023
[DW] A lobby group says it tallied just over five criminal acts motivated by Islamophobia
...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do...
each day in Germany in 2023. Most of the cases were insults, discrimination or threats, but just under one case in 10 was violent mostly peaceful.

A German alliance against Islamophobia and discrimination against Moslems, also known as Claim, on Monday said that crimes with Islamophobic motivations more than doubled in Germany last year.

The group said it had logged a total of 1,926 criminal cases, a little more than five each day on average and an increase of more than 1,000 over the previous year.

"Anti-Moslem racism has never been so socially acceptable as today and it comes from the center of society," Claim's director Rima Hanano said.

The report's headline played on the first article of Germany's post-war constitution, which states that human dignity should be "inviolable," saying instead that it was "violable," even as Germany marks its constitution's 75th anniversary this year.

Claim said it compiled its list using a variety of open-source information, not least the various German police forces' own communications.

The most common crimes in question were verbal attacks or insults, followed by cases of discrimination, but also including threats and coercion. In 178 cases, just under one in 10, physical harm was documented. Claim's tally also included four attempted homicides and five arson cases.

ISRAEL-GAZA CONFLICT HAD VISIBLE IMPACT ON GERMAN CRIME STATS
The group also said there was an observable spike in Islamophobic crimes in Germany in the aftermath of Hamas
..a regional Iranian catspaw,...
' October 7 terror attack on Israel.

Figures published last week in Germany also showed that crimes with antisemitic motivations more than doubled in 2023, fueled by an accelerated rate following October 7 — with more than 60% of the year's cases taking place after that date.

The report on Islamophobic crime in Germany is the second of its kind published by the Claim group, following the inaugural one last year. This year it is being launched along with a campaign to raise public awareness. Various German officials, academics and politicians have signed up.

'Half-French': France's far-right pushes to ban dual nationals from 'sensitive' jobs
[NEWARAB] Rising far-right parties in La Belle France wants to ban French people with dual nationality from holding "sensitive" jobs. The deeply unconstitutional measure is worrying the large Franco-Maghreb community.

"The most strategic positions of the State will be reserved for Frenchies," said National Rally (RN) president Jordan Bardella this week.

The measure will "prevent" French people with dual nationality from occupying "extremely sensitive jobs," the list of which will be defined "by decree" after the adoption of an "organic law."

When asked if the police would, for example, be among these "sensitive positions," RN assured that it is "not at all in its entirety, but some specific positions, such as the DGSI" [Directorate General of Internal Security].

Bardella, known for his anti-immigrant stance, said the measure would affect "very, very few people."

However,
the difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits...
the French Democratic Confederation of Labour (CFDT) estimated that 3.3 million French people could be banned from accessing certain jobs if the RN's promise became law.

FAR-RIGHT: TAKES ON DUAL CITIZENSHIP
This is not the first time the RN has toyed with the idea of differentiating between people with only French citizenship and those who hold a second one, mostly due to their multicultural background.

Dual nationals account for 5% of the population of La Belle France. 90% of them are immigrants colonists or descendants of immigrants colonists. More than two-thirds are North African immigrants colonists, while the rest are mostly Ottoman Turkish or Portuguese immigrants colonists.

At a certain point, the National Rally (RN) — formerly the National Front (FN) — considered abolishing dual citizenship.

"You have to choose: you are an Algerian or a French citizen," said Jean-Marie Le Pen in an interview in 1985.

His daughter Marine Le Pen has carried on this idea despite their infamous discord. In 2022, she abandoned her dad's theory, saying she had "evolved" on the issue of dual citizenship.

In December 2022, amid the football match between La Belle France and Morocco, Bardella said there were "French people of foreign origin locked into repentance and hatred of La Belle France," a "generation that has reached adult age (...) and behaves like nationals of a foreign state."

US presses India for updates over 'murder for hire' plot: deputy secretary
[GEO.TV] The United States is seeking accountability from India after thwarting an Indian conspiracy to assassinate pro-Khalistan leader of Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on American soil last year.

US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell said that he had raised the issue directly at the most senior levels of the Indian government.

The case in question involves Nikhil Gupta, an Indian national arrested in the Czech Republic in June last year for allegedly planning the murder of Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a US citizen and a Sikh leader. Pannun leads Sikhs for Justice, a group outlawed in India. Gupta was extradited to the US earlier on June 14 and pleaded not guilty

in a Manhattan court on 17 June.

Kurt Campbell highlighted that an American citizen was targeted in the alleged plot.

"We have had constructive dialogue with India on this topic and I would say that they have been responsive to our concerns," he said in a virtual interaction with Indian journalists from Washington.

"We've made clear that we seek accountability from the Government of India and we have consistently asked for updates on the Indian committee of inquiry's investigations."

"And I would just simply say that we raised this issue directly with the Indian government...at the most senior levels between our two sides," the senior US official said.

would be "potentially apocalyptic", as fighting raged in the southern Gaza Strip.

Martin Griffiths described Lebanon as "the flashpoint beyond all flashpoints", especially its southern border with Israel which has seen daily cross-border violence since October 7.

"It's beyond planning. It's potentially apocalyptic," warned Griffiths whose term as UN humanitarian coordinator ends this week.

A war involving Lebanon "will draw in Syria... it will draw in others", he told news hounds in Geneva. "It's very alarming."

Germany on Wednesday echoed a Canadian warning from the day before, urging their citizens in Lebanon to leave the country.

"German nationals are urgently requested to leave Lebanon," updated foreign ministry advice in Berlin said.

"The current heightened tensions in the border area with Israel could escalate further at any time."

On Tuesday, Ottawa advised Canadians to leave Lebanon "while they can".

#7  What the fudge? I recall during the aftermath of the Oct 7 reading how horrible hard it was to get a gun in Israel. I couldnt believe it. The settlers were nearly unarmed, that's why they had to hide and be hunted b/c they didnt have the fire power to turn against the muslim attackers.

ChatGPT: Is it legal to own a gun in Israel?

No one may own or carry a gun without showing a reason to do so. A special permit by the Interior Ministry is then required. The permit must have the approval of the police and includes information about the owner and the gun type.

Israel warns it can return Lebanon to 'Stone Age' but does not want war with Hezbollah
[GEO.TV] Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned during a visit to Washington that Israel's military is capable of taking Lebanon "back to the Stone Age" in any war with Hezbollah but insisted his government prefers a diplomatic solution on the Israel-Lebanon border.

Speaking to reporters, Gallant also said he discussed with senior US officials his "day after" proposals for governance of post-war Gaza that would include local Palestinians, regional partners and the U.S., but that it would be "a long and complex process."

Israeli attorney-general orders recruitment of thousands of ultra-Orthodox Jews following court ruling
[NEWARAB] Israel’s Attorney General, Gali Baharav-Miara, has ordered the recruitment of 3,000 students from Jewish yeshiva religious schools to the Israeli army, following a unanimous ruling from the country’s top court on Tuesday that ultra-Orthodox Jewish men must serve in the military.

The ruling came as Israel’s brutal war on Gazoo
...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamas with about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response...
continues for a ninth month amid increasing talk of a potential new war with Hezbollah in Leb
...an Iranian satrapy currently ruled by Hassan Nasrallah situated on the eastern Mediterranean, conveniently adjacent to Israel. Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. The Leb civil war, between 1975 and 1990, lasted a little over 145 years and produced 120,000 fatalities. The average length of a ceasefire was measured in seconds. The Lebs maintain a precarious sectarian balance among Shiites, Sunnis, and about a dozen flavors of Christians, plus Armenians, Georgians, and who knows what else? It is the home of the original Hezbollah, which periodically starts a war with the Zionist Entity, gets Beirut pounded to rubble, and then declares victory and has a parade. The Lebs have the curious habit of periodically murdering their heads of state or prime ministers...
Baharav-Miara said that 3,000 was only a preliminary number "which does not fully reflect the army's current needs nor advance the sharing of the burden equally".

She ordered defence chiefs to draw up a plan to increase the number and "take the necessary steps to maximize recruitment potential", the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.

Ultra-Orthodox Jewish men have long had a de facto exemption from military service in Israel, but there is no legal basis for this and the Supreme Court in its ruling said that the state was carrying out "invalid selective enforcement" of the country’s conscription laws.

The Supreme Court’s ruling could potentially present a problem for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose governing coalition includes ultra-Orthodox and far-right religious parties.

Reacting to the ruling, Aryeh Deri, the head of the ultra-Orthodox Shas party said that the Torah is Israel’s "secret weapon against all enemies" and "no power in the world" can stop Jews from studying it.

#1  Evading national service in the Jewish state is the opposite of authentic Judaism

#3  This is a war for Israel's survival. Every able bodied person should understand that and serve. There shouldn't be a religious caste that is exempt because they are more religious than most of the rest of the country.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Mikati says Lebanon shouldn't be turned into 'arena for conflicts starting from south'
[An Nahar] Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Wednesday that efforts should be exerted to prevent Leb

Formerly inhabited by hardy Phoenecian traders, its official language is now Arabic, with the usual unpleasant side effects. from being turned into "an arena for armed conflicts starting from the south."

"The relevant U.N. resolutions must be implemented in order to put an end to Israel’s expansionist ambitions, and accordingly not linking Lebanon’s stability and interests to extremely complicated conflicts and endless wars," Mikati added, during a joint presser in Beirut with the Vatican’s Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

Israeli forces and Iran-backed Hezbollah are exchanging cross-border fire on a near-daily basis, and the Israeli army said last week that plans for an offensive in Lebanon were "approved and validated."

Eight months of cross-border violence has killed at least 481 people in Lebanon, mostly fighters but also including 94 civilians, according to an AFP tally.

Israeli authorities say at least 15 soldiers and 11 civilians have been killed in the country's north.
