Fed Reserve chair Jerome Powell Admits The Biden Admin Is "Overstating" Jobs
[Zero] Every first Friday of this year (here, here and here) we have spent hours deconstructing the glaring propaganda peddled by Biden's Labor Department, meant to show just one thing - how "strong" the economy is under the current administration - and exposing just how ugly the underlying labor data truly is. Last Friday's nonfarm payrolls was the most recent case in point: for those who didn't read our extended analysis titled "Inside The Most Ridiculous Jobs Report In Years", which dissected the laughable claim that the US added 272K payrolls (more than the highest estimate), here is what we found.

While the Establishment Survey did indeed report that 272K "jobs" were added, this number also included multiple job holders; stripping those out, we get that the actual number of "employed" workers plunged by 408K...

Biden's Department of Justice Says AG Merrick Garland Immune from Prosecution for Contempt of Congress
[Breitbart] President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice issued a memo Wednesday declaring that Attorney General Merrick Garland is protected from prosecution for contempt of Congress because of Biden’s use of executive privilege.

The memo’s release conveniently came hours before the House of Representatives took the long-anticipated step of voting to hold Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with Congressional subpoenas for records related to Special Counsel Robert Hur’s investigation of President Joe Biden’s willful mishandling of classified information.

Republicans wanted the audio tapes of Hur’s interview with Biden, insisting written transcripts provided by Garland were insufficient after Hur revealed that Biden experienced mental lapses and "poor memory" when interviewed.

The House Committees on Oversight and Accountability and Judiciary issued subpoenas to Garland on February 27, 2024 for records including audio recordings Garland insisted on withholding.

Despite the subpoenas, Garland refused to turn over the records.

The Biden administration continued working to blunt Congress’s constitutional oversight power. Before the Judiciary and Oversight Committees marked up their contempt resolutions on May 16, Biden asserted executive privilege over the recordings.

Weeks later, the House voted 216 to 207 to hold Garland in contempt of Congress, with only one Republican opposing the resolution.

Given the department’s memo, Biden administration prosecutors are almost certain to ignore the contempt of Congress, which is essentially a recommendation to U.S. attorneys.

"Because the committees have the transcripts of the special counsel’s interviews, the needs the committees have articulated for the recordings are plainly insufficient to overcome a privilege claim grounded in these important separation of powers concerns," the memo asserts.

Republicans didn’t buy it.

Garland’s refusal to release the audio recordings "raises serious questions about President Biden’s mental fitness to function as President," Rep. Gary Palmer said in a statement pushing back against popular Democrat justifications for withholding the audio recordings.

"The White House vehemently denied Special Counsel Hur’s depiction of President Biden as a ’sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,’" he continued. "Considering the investigation into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents is closed, Biden does not face any legal jeopardy. Also, the fact that the written, unredacted transcript has been released, it makes no sense that AG Garland is willing to be charged in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with the subpoena and release the recording of the interview."

"Garland’s willingness to have his record tarnished by being held in contempt of Congress only increases speculation and concern about President Biden’s mental ability to effectively carry out his duties as President."

Anna Paulina Luna vows to force vote on Garland's arrest if DOJ doesn't follow through on contempt
[FoxNews] Rep Luna told Fox News Digital she is going to circulate a letter to colleagues after Wednesday's contempt vote.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., is vowing to force a vote on Attorney General Merrick Garland's arrest if the Department of Justice (DOJ) fails to act on a criminal contempt resolution backed by House GOP leaders.

Luna told Fox News Digital on Tuesday evening that she would plan to force a vote on her "inherent contempt" resolution against Garland after the full House of Representatives weighs the Biden official's fate with a separate measure.

"As of right now, we fully intend to bring it," Luna revealed. "I don't really have much faith in the Department of Justice. And I don't think the American people do either. But we are trying to bring back a level playing field and show that, you know, there should be accountability all the way up to the top."

She added, "If the DOJ won't do their jobs, we're going to do it for them."

Inherent contempt differs from the contempt resolution expected to come up for a vote Wednesday afternoon. Whereas the latter would refer Garland to his own department for criminal charges, inherent contempt, if passed, would direct the House sergeant at arms to arrest Garland himself.

Luna said she would be circulating a letter among her colleagues on Wednesday explaining inherent contempt and the need for it.

"Inherent contempt of Congress hasn't been done since early 1900s. And before that, it was a pretty common practice," Luna said.

"I think that when you explain to people what inherent contempt of Congress is and when they see that subpoenas are being ignored, and that there seems to be a two-tiered justice system — which we're seeing nationally, every single person…is realizing that — I think that they will understand."

Luna could force House leaders to take up her bill by deeming it "privileged," which would mandate the House to act on it within two legislative days.

When asked what she would do if the Wednesday vote was called off or delayed due to concerns from moderate Republicans, Luna said she would defer to the leadership's schedule.

House Republicans are aiming to hold Garland in contempt for refusing to turn over audio recordings of Special Counsel Robert Hur's interviews with President Biden.

While a majority of Republicans support the move, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has precious little wiggle room with just a two-vote majority.

#3  The Supreme Court ruled that Nixon had to turn over his tapes. There is no Constitutional basis to withhold them. The basis is that the audio will not match the transcript because it was massaged to make Joe sound rational and coherent. They can’t release the tapes.

Hillary Clinton stuns Democrats by endorsing George Latimer for Jamaal Bowman's congressional seat
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Hillary Clinton has made a rare move by backing the primary opponent of a sitting House Democrat in New York, sparking considerable backlash from some in her party.

The one-time Senator from New York endorsed Westchester County Executive George Latimer for the congressional seat that is currently held by Representative Jamaal Bowman.

'With Trump on the ballot, we need strong, principled Democrats in Congress more than ever,' wrote Clinton on X on Wednesday.

The former first lady's endorsement of Latimer upset a number of progressives who were quick to condemn the move, with some suggesting it was more of a reason to cast their ballot for Bowman.

'Imagine taking Hillary Clinton’s advice in a year with Trump on the ballot,' wrote Bhaskar Sunkara, a democratic socialist journalist, taking a swing at Clinton's historic 2016 loss.

Briahna Joy Gray, a former press secretary for Bernie Sanders who was just fired from her job hosting The Hill's 'Rising' after rolling her eyes during an interview with the sister of an Israeli hostage, said that Clinton's endorsement of Latimer is a 'clear' indication that people should be voting for Bowman.

'Hillary Clinton endorsed the AIPAC challenger to @RepBowman who recently dog whistled that Bowman's constituency was Dearborn,' she wrote.

Bowman, who is competing for his third term in Congress, is a progressive Democrat and member of the so-called 'Squad,' who has been met with criticism from his own party and elsewhere for his ongoing criticism of Israel in the wake of October 7.

His primary against Latimer is one of the most competitive races in the House and is being watched carefully by Democrats and Republicans.

His seat - New York's 16th Congressional District - covers half of Westchester County and a small portion of the Bronx. The territory is deep blue, meaning whichever candidate emerges victorious from the Democratic primary will all-but-certainly be headed to Congress.

'In Congress, @LatimerforNY will protect abortion rights, stand up to the NRA, and fight for President Biden’s agenda - just like he’s always done. Make a plan to vote by June 25th!' wrote Clinton.

Latimer, responding to the 2016 presidential candidate's endorsement, responded: 'I’m honored to have the support of Hillary Clinton, whose decades of service are an inspiration,' and flagged that early voting begins this weekend.

Bowman, whose district has a large Jewish constituency, has arguably alienated significant numbers of his voters by staking a fervently anti-Israel position and repeatedly digging in the months since the outbreak of the war.

'He’s gone far enough out that even the left-leaning Israel advocacy group J Street withdrew its endorsement of Bowman in January, complaining that he had crossed a line in putting the blame for the conflict too much on Israel and not on Hamas,' wrote CNN's Manu Raju last month.

While Latimer has defended Israel as the war provoked by Hamas's terrorism rages on, Bowman, 48, was quick to call Israel an 'apartheid state' in the weeks following the attack.

He was also an early supporter of the narrative that claims rapes of Israeli women and murders of children were 'lies.' He later walked back some of those comments.

For these reasons and others, Bowman has seen a decline in support from members of his own party - the latest example being Clinton's pointed endorsement of Latimer.

Recent polling suggests Latimer, 70, may walk away with a landslide victory over the incumbent.

Late last year, Bowman was also censured by the Republican-led House after pulling a fire alarm in what looked like an effort to disrupt a vote. The congressman claims to have 'mistakenly' pulled the alarm while on his way to the Chamber to cast a vote. But, security footage clearly showed the lawmaker removing warning signs on a blocked exit door before opening it and eventually pulling the alarm. The warning signs noted that an alarm would sound if the doors were opened.
