[Regnum] Serial production of the Oreshnik medium-range missile system has begun in Russia, head of state Vladimir Putin announced on August 1.
"We have produced the first serial Oreshnik complex. The first serial missile. And it has entered service with the troops," the head of state told journalists.Putin noted that specialists in Russia and Belarus have already selected positions for installing the Oreshnik. The issue of supplying the missile system to the republic will most likely be closed in 2025.
Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko are holding an informal meeting on Valaam. They are planning to discuss the development of Russian-Belarusian relations, the implementation of union projects, current international issues, and topics related to regional security.
On November 21, 2024, the Russian military used the Oreshnik missile system for the first time, striking the Yuzhmash military plant in Dnepropetrovsk. The attack was carried out in response to the use of NATO ATACMS systems by the Ukrainian army.
