[RIA] The European Commission has sent Ukraine a warning about a possible complete suspension of financial support, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports.
"The Kiev authorities, led by Volodymyr Zelensky, received a warning from the European Commission that financial assistance within the framework of the Ukraine Assistance Fund could be completely stopped if Kiev continues to put pressure on anti-corruption agencies," the publication says.
As noted in the publication, the European Commission in its letter called the attempts of the Ukrainian authorities to convince Western countries that the government was forced to take these measures due to Russian influence "implausible."
Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and former Vice Prime Minister for European Affairs Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze confirmed to the publication that the corresponding signal from the EU had indeed been received. According to her, Europe will take the planned action if the situation with the anti-corruption bodies is not resolved, and this concerns the entire next payment, not just a part of it.
Last week, the European Union decided to cut the aid tranche to Kiev after Ukraine failed to carry out three promised reforms - instead of 4.5 billion euros, it should be 3.05 billion.
