CDC: At least 85 people experienced THC sickness from Wisconsin pizza place
2025-07-28
[NewsNationNow] According to the report, at least 85 individuals, ranging from 1 to 91 years old, consumed food from the pizza shop in Stoughton, Wisconsin, between October 22 and 24, 2024. The CDC said that the restaurant was in a building with a shared kitchen utilized by a state-licensed edible THC vendor.
...

Further investigation revealed that the oil used tested positive for THC, as the restaurant mistakenly used THC-infused oil from the cooperative kitchen to prepare dough. No criminal charges were filed as police deemed the contamination to be unintentional.
If only to be a fly on the wall at the Department of Health management meeting about this one...

#10  Stoughton is one weird town. A dentist there had some odd fixation with rectal carrots. You can't make this stuff up.

#6  Probably not the best use of a cooperative kitchen.

#5  I think (for a change) that the headline is accurate and summarizes the situation well. Most headlines nowadays truly suck. This was an exception.

#3  A sickness is an infection. Weed isn't a sickness. Yes, you shouldn't dose people without their consent, that's how LSD got a bad reputation when Timothy Leary did it. Turns out, psychedelics are a valuable medicine that can cure PTSD. People suffered for a half century unnecessarily because of that fucking prick.
Even weed is a medicine for some people. It increases appetite for people whose (real) sicknesses make their condition worse by not eating. Most people just want to get high, but I definitely don't want to walk down the street after eating a pizza and get high. If I do it's on my own time when I have a day off and I'm in a good mood. Don't want it in the middle of a productive day.

#2  No thank you. I have no problem if those around me are under the influence, but the few times I was, none of us enjoyed it. A cookie and music would have made the situation worse.

#1  This is called a "contact high".
It's not a SICKNESS
Jesus, people.
This is ridiculous. Just sit in a dark room with some music and maybe some cookies.
