US court says family of Boulder attacker who firebombed hostage rally can be deported |
2025-07-04 |
The Egyptian parents together brought their five children here in August 2022 from their settled life in Kuwait (on a 6 month B1 visitor visa, which is for business conferences, rather than a B2 tourist visa), then quickly applied for asylum, for which they were granted permission to stay and work for six months. There is some confusion about applications for additional short term visas, and no explanation why they claimed to have a fear of persecution in Egypt, where he had not lived for 17 years when they “fled” here, but they definitely have been overstaying here illegally since March. At any rate, they immediately sent their children to public schools and encouraged the eldest to apply for college and academic scholarships, which she won. Papa, whose fuller name is Mohamed Sabry Farag Soliman, freely admitted afterward that he had gone to America for the purpose of committing jihad against the infidels we have in such quantity here, spent a year planning the attack, then waited until his eldest child graduated high school in 2025 before hunting down his prey. Mama has been complaining bitterly via her lawyer that she and the children are suffering in confinement, cruelly prevented from getting on with their American life. [IsraelTimes] Decision overturns lower court’s ruling against expulsion of wife and 5 kids of Egyptian Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who were staying in the country illegallyA US federal court ruled Wednesday that the family of the man who firebombed a pro-Israel demonstration in Boulder, Colorado in support of hostages held in Gaza can be deported. The suspect, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who is an Egyptian national, and his wife … Hayam El Gamal (more fully Hayam Salah Alsaid Ahmed Elgama, 41 or 43, also an Egyptian citizen, is a network engineer with a pending EB2 visa, which is given to professionals with advanced degrees… and five children …daughter Habiba Soliman (more fully Habiba Mohamed Sabry Farag Soliman), 18 and a high school graduate, two more daughters and two sons, aged 4, 4, 7 and 15 in no particular order. The family moved to America, according to Habiba, so that she would be able to fulfill her ambition to go to med school, which she could not done in Kuwait. They did not seem to have asked whether that is an option for girls in Egypt — but a quick internet search reveals women are welcome at both public and private medical schools there, whether citizens or foreign students — and probably considerably cheaper than in America… were living in the United States illegally. The family was detained by ICE two days after the June 1 attack. They were picked up shortly after the attack and flown straight to the Dilley Family Detention Center in Texas. Wednesday’s ruling overturned a previous district court ruling blocking the family’s deportation.“This is a proper end to an absurd legal effort on the plaintiff’s part. Just like her terrorist husband, she and her children are here illegally and are rightfully in ICE custody for removal as a result,” said Tricia McLaughlin, assistant secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, in a statement. “This terrorist will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We are investigating to what extent his family knew about this heinous attack, if they had knowledge of it, or if they provided support to it,” the statement continued. Soliman’s family is currently being held in a detention center in Texas. Lawyers for the family argued their detention was unconstitutional because they said it was intended to punish them for Soliman’s actions. The decision came days after the death of 82-year-old Karen Diamond from injuries sustained in the firebombing attack. Soliman currently faces over 70 charges for the attack, including first-degree murder, first-degree assault and 12 counts of committing a hate crime.
