Russia implements non-judicial military punishment.
[VK] Previously, only military courts had this right. Now, unit commanders will be able to send soldiers to the guardhouse for misconduct. The changes are provided for by a decree signed the day before by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The heads of military police agencies and garrison commanders are now granted a similar right. The presidential decree also changed the procedure for lifting sanctions imposed on military personnel. The above-mentioned officials will be able not only to impose punishments, but also to cancel them.

An arrest can be lifted from a serviceman provided that he has not committed a new disciplinary offense. Moreover, from soldiers and sailors - not earlier than three months, from sergeants and petty officers - not earlier than six months, from warrant officers and midshipmen - not earlier than a year.
