Chad Chronister, Donald Trump's pick to run the DEA, withdraws name from consideration

Bad Choice. COVID Asshole. Let it go
Sheriff Chronister, the top law enforcement officer in Hillsborough County, Florida, said in a post on X that he was backing away from the opportunity, which he called "the honor of a lifetime."
Chronister follows former Republican congressman Matt Gaetz, Trump’s first pick to serve as attorney general, in withdrawing his name for a post in the administration. Gaetz withdrew following scrutiny over a federal sex trafficking investigation that cast doubt on his ability to be confirmed as the nation’s chief federal law enforcement officer. Trump’s pick of Chronister for the DEA job drew backlash from conservatives, who raised concerns over his actions during the COVID-19 pandemic and his saying that his office "does not engage in federal immigration enforcement activities." … He cannot be trusted! Here are some of the reasons: His office promotes transgendering teens by participating in the Tampa Pride event and created a liaison office for transgenders and other pride affiliates. https://teamhcso.com/News/PressRelease/73a66208-1b05-41ae-ae29-8a1f6a6daf26/21-107 https://facebook.com/watch/?v=925517718290244 Chronister expanded his office's DEI programs and has been a major proponent of anti-white male discrimination by removing merit as a primary role of advancement, turning to race and gender-based hiring and promotion policies. https://tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/hillsborough-sheriffs-office-recruitment-effort-focuses-on-diversity/2247981/ In March of 2020, he arrested a local pastor who kept his church open during Covid. The pastor spent $100k to upgrade his church's air and filtration system, making his church safe for those who wish to attend services. Nonetheless, Chronister arrested him and held a press conference touting the arrest. https://teamhcso.com/News/PressRelease/bea53702-e647-4b0b-af34-38cbb31f6224/20-091 He is a big Democrat donor. He gave money to Democrats Barack Obama, Mayor Jane Castor, Congresswoman Kathy Castor, Congressman Charlie Crist and the DNC. https://tampafp.com/ingram-eight-reasons-to-think-twice-about-voting-for-chad-chronister-for-sheriff/ Chronister is weak on crime. He released a criminal with 35 priors who then went out shortly after his release and murdered someone. https://tampafp.com/ingram-eight-reasons-to-think-twice-about-voting-for-chad-chronister-for-sheriff/ He was weak during the BLM riots, having his deputies stand down as rioters destroyed property, including a gate at the county jail. His office was generally slow to respond during the BLM riots, when other sheriff's offices around the state were out in full force. https://x.com/ByJoshSolomon/status/1277041420713549825 He supports Red Flag Gun Confiscation and has used the policy many times. https://teamhcso.com/News/PressRelease/5df6be01-c30e-4e23-9139-a9310aaf8a99/20-070 https://casemine.com/judgement/us/6142161b372b700f1b4eb0af https://unicourt.com/case/fl-hil-hillsborough-county-sheriffs-office-vs-gonzalez-carlos-javier-jr-1128584 Related: Chad Chronister 12/02/2024 Bill Barr Inadvertently Makes the Case for Kash Patel As FBI Director While Left-Wingers Go Into Shock Chad Chronister 12/01/2024 Trump nominates Florida sheriff Chad Chronister to lead the DEA Chad Chronister 09/07/2024 Shocking video shows Florida teacher putting student in a chokehold

#4 A tough, honest county sheriff, someone who hasn't been corrupted in DC, might be just what the DEA needs. But it sounds like this particular sheriff was not the guy. |

#3 Meh. The philosophy seems to be "You hire them, you fire them." Trump needs to get past this and aim long term. |

#1 Seems like an odd pick for DJT based on his policies. It’s been implied that Bondi recommended him. If true, that does not bode well for the DOJ pick. |
