[Regnum] Former CEO of the American video hosting site YouTube Susan Wojcicki has died at the age of 56. This was announced on August 10 by Google CEO Sundar Pichai.

He clarified that the woman had been battling cancer for the past few years.
"Incredibly saddened by the loss of my dear Susan Wojcicki after two years of living with cancer. <…> She was an incredible person, leader, and friend who had a profound impact on the world, and I am one of countless Googlers who are a better person for knowing her," Pichai wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Wojcicki rented her garage to Google's founders as an office in 1998, and became the company's first marketing manager a year later. She was also the driving force behind Google's acquisition of YouTube.
She held the position of CEO of the video hosting service since 2014. Wojcicki remained in this position for nine years. She announced her resignation in February 2023.
Wojcicki was born on July 5, 1968. She attended Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California, and was a contributor to the school newspaper. Wojcicki's first business was selling "spice rope" door-to-door at age 11. She studied humanities in college and took her first computer science course in high school.
Wojcicki studied history and literature at Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude in 1990. She also earned a master's degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 1993 and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management in 1998.
