#6  When I visited Israel about 13 years ago, the guide said that the Haredi got an exception from military service. They wanted to spend all their time studying the Torah. Because there were enough of them, they were able to form a large enough voting bloc that the other parties needed them to form a governing coalition.

#4  There are already Religious Observant battalions in the IDF. Some of the members of these battalions are (or were) Haredi.

A major problem the IDF has with Haredi recruits (and there are increasing numbers of these) is their general knowledge, mechanical skills, language skills are sometimes pretty low.
