Whitmer says armed protesters displayed 'worst racism and awful parts' of US history |
2020-05-04 |
[FOXNEWS] Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer .![]() slammed the protesters who gathered inside the state's Capitol building on Thursday to demand she rescind her stay-at-home orders, saying they represented the "worst racism and awful parts" of U.S. history. "There were swastikas and Confederate flags and nooses and people with assault rifles," Whitmer said Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union." "Some of the outrageousnesses of what happened at our capitol depicted some of the worst racism and awful parts of our history in this country." The Michigan governor, however, added that those people represented a small portion of the demonstrators at the state capital and that, for the most part, the protest was peaceful. "When you think about the fact that this is a state of almost 10 million people, the vast majority of whom are doing the right thing," she added, "the behavior you've seen in all of the clips is not representative of who we are in Michigan." Holding American flags and handmade signs — and with some carrying firearms -- the demonstrators in Lansing first congregated shoulder-to-shoulder on Thursday outside before demanding to be let inside the building as politicians were poised to debate an extension of an emergency and disaster declaration. Some chanted "Let us in," The bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit ... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang... News reported. State Sen. Dayna Polehanki, a Democrat, tweeted a photo of what she described as armed demonstrators yelling above her. She said some of her colleagues were wearing "bullet proof vests" inside the House chamber. "Directly above me, men with rifles yelling at us. Some of my colleagues who own bullet proof vests are wearing them. I have never appreciated our Sergeants-at-Arms more than today. #mileg," she posted Related: Gretchen Whitmer: 2020-04-30 Court sides with Gov Whitmer in case claiming stay home order violated constitutional rights Gretchen Whitmer: 2020-04-28 DOJ Instructs U.S. Attorneys To Lookout For State And Local Governments Violating Civil Liberties Gretchen Whitmer: 2020-04-25 Good afternoon Related: Swastikas: 2020-01-10 'The View' Audience Applauds Hitler After Revelation He Never Voted For Trump Swastikas: 2019-12-05 France to create anti-hate crime office amid wave of anti-Semitism Swastikas: 2019-10-19 Teen 'Shoah party' WhatsApp chat of horrors uncovered in Italy Related: Confederate flag: 2020-02-28 Top Marine Corps official orders removal of all Confederate symbols from bases worldwide Confederate flag: 2019-07-04 Julian Castro praises Nike, compares Betsy Ross flag to Confederate flag Confederate flag: 2019-03-12 Oregon's Reed College RA training guide: ‘Make America Great Again' example of white supremacy Related: Noose: 2020-02-12 Juicy Sommelier Indicted Noose: 2020-01-21 Honduras formally declares Hezbollah a terrorist organization Noose: 2019-12-26 The Plague of the Gentry's Fake Victims |

#17 A huge number of our fellow citizens have been taught or generations that the second amendment was about self-protection and was increasing irrelevant and even dangerous. Now is the perfect time to mount a campaign emphasizing that government overreach and disobedience to the constitution to which they all swore “true faith and allegiance “ is why the second amendment was written and buttressed right ext to the foundation right to freedoms of speech, religion and assembly. Peaceful assembly by armed citizens should remind her of that intent, and that she trifles with it at her own, personal political peril. |

#16 She is afraid of the 2nd amendment and the rights therein. Just like the authors of the document wanted. HT to the authors, your concerns played true. |

#15 They won't get The Fearâ„¢ until they send their enforcers out to suppress the proles and the proles decide not to be supressed, or the enforcers decide the orders aren't feasible to pursue. |

#12 I wonder what the Founding Fathers would have said about this. Oh wait, there's no need to guess: "Amendment I Congress shall make no law...abridging...the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Amendment II A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." |

#2 "There were swastikas and Confederate flags and nooses and people with assault rifles," I wasn't there, but none of the pix I saw showed Confederate flags, swastikas or nooses. If there had been, I'd expect it to be front page news. And how the *bleep* does racism enter into this? |

#1 This broad is sick. "Worst racism" Uh-huh. Maybe the nooses [anybody see them?] were for her. Maybe we should invite the Redcoats back. |
