Anisul: It was a distorted Themis idol |

[Dhaka Tribune] Law Minister Anisul Huq has remarked that the Lady Justice statue was removed from the Supreme Court premises because it was a ’distorted idol’ of Greek goddess Themis. "That idol was distorted. We did not want to keep this distorted object. Would have to face questions from the next generation if the distorted object was kept there," he told news hounds at event on Saturday. Anisul also noted that it was the Chief Justice who decided the removal. The minister continuously referred to the statue as an idol. Asked if a real statue of Greek goddess Themis could be installed as a replacement of the ’distorted statue’, he said, "I cannot comment on that."
