Afghan governor wounded in blast |

![]() Also on Saturday, CNN reported that Afghan and coalition forces in Afghanistan, near the border with Pakistan, captured three suspected al-Qaeda operatives, US military officials said. "Afghan and coalition forces have had some very successful operations in the last several days -- specifically in the eastern provinces -- and we are not slowing down," said Afghan Maj. Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi. "We will continue to partner with coalition forces and aggressively pursue extremists and the leaders who direct their actions." Meanwhile on Saturday, two British soldiers were killed in an explosion in Helmand province, the ministry of defense said. One of the soldiers was from the Light Dragoons, the other from the Parachute Regiment. The explosion took place while the soldiers were on operations in Musa Qal'eh. The servicemen have not been named but their families have been informed. |
