Turkey's Prime Minister stresses his loyalty to secularism, dismissing an effort by the country's chief prosecutor to disband his party. In a speech in the country's southeast Sunday, Recep Tayyip Erdogan strongly rejected the accusations that his Justice and Development Party (AKP) is anti-democratic and is trying to impose fundamentalism. The premier promised to keep up work while adhering to secular principles of his predominantly Muslim country. Meanwhile, an influential Turkish business association which has been an open critic of the government's pro-Islamic practices, has denounced the move to shut down the AKP as 'unacceptable' in a democracy. On Friday, prosecutor Abdurrahman Yalcinkaya had asked Turkey's constitutional court to impose a ban the AKP.
